Hi Fae! May I request Kouyou with the "Try to hold" "Disgust" expression from the very last expression sheet? Thank you, and I've been really loving all the Verdes you've been drawing lately! :D
Tumblr media
One Kouyou coming right up! He's probably my best first try at drawing a character that I've ever done. I'll have to try drawing him again soon, but damn he looks so good here!! I had a hard time drawing his hair, but it turned out pretty close to how his hair is.
Anyways, I had a ton of fun with this one. Kouyou is actually my second favorite khr character. The green haired + glasses combo is forever iconic and always slays. Thank you so much for this request, Con! I haven't had a chance to draw him yet and now I can finally cross that off my list (and hopefully draw him again soon.) Speaking of characters that I draw, I'm beyond ecstatic that you're enjoying my Verde fanart. There's definitely going to be a lot more in the future so stay tuned <3
A link to the reference I used + post for the ask meme (these are still open if anyone's interested): Here

Them: "What are you thinking about?"
Me: "Well, there's the Simon family, right? It's very much implied that all of them are related somehow, since they lived enclosed in a goddamn island, there shouldn't have been all that much DNA exchange there. Also, it's stated that Enma's guardians are also childhood friends of Enma who have lived through a similar traumatizing experience. PLUS, in most official arts of the Simon guardians all of them have red eyes but only Enma has the crosses which confirms that he's 100% a descendent of Simon Cozzato but then... Enma is Simon 10th, although his father wasn't the boss and the family as a famiglia had kind of stopped existing for a while. So, how the fuck is Enma the 10th boss? How big was Simon's actual family that they could populate an entire island?"
Them: "Err—"
Me: "But sure, whatever. THe most pressing thing is, Simon Cozzato named the Simon family after himself. I'm pretty sure Simon was his first name, and Cozzato his surname. Though Amano makes the unfortunate choice of writing his name as シモン=コザァート, I'm just going to assume that = is just another way of writing ・ which is what's usually used to separate foreign names. Also, Cozzato being his surname explains how Enma would end up being Kozato, names evolve and all of that. This is all very understandable, right?"
Them: "Uhm—"
Me: "But then this BEGS the question of, WHY DID GIOTTO NAME HIS FAMILY VONGOLA? wHAT WAS THE MAN THINKING?!"
To this day, KHR plotholes remain holes.

"why aren't you in hell with me?"
there is something about how spade blamed cozart for giotto's refusal to rule with an iron fist even centuries later in the future after he turned vongola into a bloody organization that betrayed giotto's vision
why are you desperate to find someone else to hate?

I just don't get why Akira Amano did it this way; all of the rings except for the one on the far right are positioned upright, but that one alone is clearly being viewed from the broad side AND at such an angle that the insignia is being somewhat blocked by the reflection
The next one from the right is also kind of hard to see, though not quite as bad. The rest are fine, but prior to this, only the second from the left, the Glacier Ring, is ever shown in any other context. You have to extrapolate what the rest are, and since we don't know the name of Kaoru's Ring, we have to guess that the third from the right is his
It looks like it would be. It looks like waves in the water, or maybe it's a river? Apparently some people think it's a sand dune, though and that it's actually Julie's Desert Ring!
I always figured the second from the right with the circles was the Desert Ring and that those circles were sand, but some people think that they're...I don't know, bubbles from Shitopi's Swamp? If they're bubbles, maybe that one's Kaoru's, since his Flame has kind of a bubbly aesthetic!
I assumed that the rightmost one was the Swamp Ring cus you could interpret it as swamp grass, but AGAIN, I've seen people say it's a wae, making it fit Kaoru's Flame. If it were clearer, I could maybe see that, but it's so blurry I can barely make out what it's supposed to be at all!
Why? Why not show all of the rings at an angle that we can accurately make out the symbols? Why not show them all during the fights??? She showed us the Glacier Ring during Adelheid's fight, why not show the rest during their fights?
Why not have Kaoru use his Flame when fighting Daemon Spade? Why not have Daemon Spade us Kaoru's Flame when he was explicitly using everyone's Flames at once?
Why introduce seven new powers and then only explain six???
Tumblr media
I tweeted this edit at Akira Amano to hopefully get some answers, but I'm confident nothing's ever going to come of that

being a random mafia guy in khr must be crazy everyone is talking abt vongolas new honcho and how literally the most feared criminal ever is his mist guardian and how he burned a whole guy to ashes (they're besties now its okay) and ended a 10 generations long family feud with the simon and how he beefed with the mafia zombie police and somehow un-babyfied the arcobaleno in the process and all that and then you see him at some random function and he looks like this

Just me being curious but since KHR is your fave manga (yay) can you tell me your fave characters and fave arcs ? Thanks !
Sure! I don't talk about KHR often enough, so thank you for this ask^^
My favourite character is Chrome! I also like Mukuro and the entire Kokuyo Gang (except Birds and Gigi and Didi...) a lot, and, of course, all of Tsuna's famiglia <3 But, honestly, I have every character so dear (except a few... like the aforementioned ones and Levi, cough). Her writing isn't perfect, but I just like the way Amano writes the majority of her characters and handles character groups. (It feels wrong to me to say "I like Tsuna" without adding that I like his entire famiglia too; KHR groups are all package deals to me.)
I like her as a character too, but Uni's design is also super pretty to me which boosts her into favouritehood (?) XD (Same for Luce as they look the same.)
Also, WotQ reached 9669 hits a while ago, and I was very glad that I caught it for a screenhot^^
Tumblr media
My favourite arc is the Inheritance Ceremony Arc! I really like reincarnation/generational repeat/parallel stuff (which shows up in all of Amano's major works which makes me happy), so I was always particularly interested in the first generation and getting more about them in an actual manga arc was super interesting to me! (I enjoyed the anime's Primo Family Arc, but these filler arcs were so odd and weirdly inserted to me >.<...) I also just like the Pride Battles and the Simon Famiglia.
I've been rereading the manga veeeery slowly in German by getting the volumes from the library (it's been out of print for ages orz). I started the series in German when I was little but never completed it in German (and it's nice reading an official translation for once; and it's a fun translation too!). Anyway, I recently finished my reread of the Inheritance Arc, and between that and my rewatch of Aldnoah.Zero... I suddenly realised that I might also like it when people become villains after losing their significant other?
I think my second favourite is the Curse of the Rainbow Arc (i.a. because it includes my favourite chapters, 382-384^^). Beyond that, it's all crinkly because it's like picking favourite children^^' I love all arcs.
The Daily Life Arc is so fun, and I'm so happy KHR was published at a time that an arc like that was acceptable. KHR is just extra fun because it started out as a comedy manga and never abandoned its roots after the shift. (The Future Arc being just the chef's kiss example of the reutilisation of stuff from the comedy era <3)
What are your favourites, if I can ask?^^

really interesting that giotto and cozart keep vials of their own blood and cozart's blood is called "vongola's sin" clearly in reference to giotto's failure to protect cozart and his family but giotto's own blood is referred to as "vongola's penalty"
penalty
punishment
what does it mean giotto
are you saying you are willing to curse the rest of your bloodline if it means keeping cozart's kin safe? that's gay

prompt #10 + simon family (khr). tysm!
Of course, my lovely! As always, I think you’re the one who should be thanked for sending in so many wonderful asks. I just kind of chose a couple of the ‘imagines’ and hope you’ll enjoy my thoughts on them 😊
Who is the annoying roommate who never does the dishes?
It’s Julie, let’s not lie here. He is really good at slipping out of his chores, no matter what his chores are that week. Everyone has gone out of their way to try to give him the chores he likes the most and he still just won’t do them. Julie could do the chores. It wouldn’t take him long and it’s not that he’d hate the time spent doing them. It’s more that he sees no point in doing them, especially since he knows that if he skips out on doing them long enough, someone else will pick up the slack for him.
Which one stays up so late and keeps everyone up?
It’s not so much that Ooyama stays up late. In fact, he normally gets to bed pretty early. But he’s prone to waking up late at night or into the very wee hours of the morning hungry. He gets the midnight munchies pretty often. He does try to be considerate of the fact that everyone’s sleeping. He tiptoes down to the kitchen and he genuinely and truly does try to be quiet…he’s just not good at it. He’ll bump into things, the drawers or cupboards will slam louder than he expected them too, he doesn’t get to the microwave in time and it keeps beeping loudly. He’s liable to wake up at least one member of the family while getting his midnight snack, but he also doesn’t really mind that. Meals are better enjoyed with other people, after all.
Which one is the mom friend who keeps everyone from burning the house down?
This one is most definitely Adelheid. We see it even within the canon proper. She makes efforts to be there for each and every member of the Shimon. She takes pains to learn about the things the others are passionate about. She’s the one who makes supper for everyone the most. She keeps the chore schedule balanced and takes into account everyone’s preferences. She picks up any slack needed in the house and still finds time to spend with everyone, while also helping them all study and train. She pushes herself to her limits to really be responsible and capable for those in the Shimon, because she does love them all.
Every squad needs a swear jar. Who is the top contributor?
It’s definitely Kouyou. He’s got a pretty strong temper and when he gets upset, he tends to devolve into some pretty filthy language, especially around those like the Shimon members, those people he’s comfortable with. Julie pretty casually swears just to get reactions from others, so he’s the second strongest contributor.
Who carries the swear jar around and thrusts it into people’s arms when they swear?
It’s not that she carries the swear jar around with her because that would be ridiculous but Adelheid enforces the rules around the swear jar the most. She will remind people that they owe the swear jar money and she will keep reminding them until they pay up. She has a running tab on who owes what and where that jar should be sitting in terms of money. Because she rolls the coins up in order to cash them up at the bank, she’s going to notice any money missing and she’s likely to know who didn’t pay. For someone who would carry the jar around and would provoke people into swearing just to tease them, waving the jar around in front of them, laughing and making them pay up? It’s Shittopi-chan and Julie both.
Who shamelessly swears and drops a coin in every time they pass the jar?
Julie. He doesn’t mind paying up because, like I said, he’s swearing just for the reactions of the other family members. He swears just to provoke, enrage, or make someone laugh. That’s worth his allowance , especially since he’ll just bet money against one of the other members to earn that allowance back.
Who feels like an awful person whenever they swear and will run all the way home to put their coin in?
Kaoru very, very rarely ever swears. On the couple of occasions when he does slip up and does swear, he feels horrible about it. It doesn’t matter if none of the other members were around to hear him, it doesn’t matter that nobody would know. He feels guilty about swearing and has to pay into the jar. Sometimes he’ll even slip money into the jar for swear words that only existed in his own head and never got uttered. Kaoru can fall prone to believing in thought crimes, in other words.
Who refuses to put their money in when they swear but is perfectly fine with collecting?
Shittopi-chan fails to pay up the most out of all the members. She tends to squander a lot of her allowance money, so it’s often that she simply doesn’t have the funds at the moment to actually pay the jar. When she does get her allowance, she really doesn’t want to waste it by paying the balance she owes the swear jar and it’s gotten to the point that Adelheid just takes the money out of Shittopi’s allowance before it’s even given to her.
What do they do with the money when the jar is full?
The money from the swear jar always goes towards something that is beneficial for all the members. Though Adelheid has made the case for the money going towards bills or other practical things like that, the others fought back enough that the money is never actually used for those sort of beneficial things. No, the swear jar money has to be used for something on the fun side of beneficial. Sometimes it’s a weekend trip to a hot spring. Sometimes it’s a huge dinner out at a restaurant they’ve all been wanting to try. Sometimes they all get tickets for a professional ball game or a concert. It’s always things along those lines, where it’s both fun and the whole family gets to spend time together.

My original intention is to make a whole long series of episodes of why the Primo family filler of KHR anime suck, and it would be actually an easy effort because almost every single episodes got something wrong, but I am too lazy to screenshot so yeah just put here the top reason why this filler itches me so much: Giotto's word when confronting Daemon after the Mist trial.
(Why do I even use the word "confront" this guy basically turns a blind eyes to his ex-guardian kidnapping his descendants' friends and trapping those kids, why do I even use the word "confront"?)
Tumblr media
To put it bluntly, I have no problem with Giotto and Daemon making up after more than a decade of being apart. At the same time, I also have no problem with Giotto missing Daemon or being nostalgic about their friendship and thus forgiving Daemon stabbing him in the back. (And at the other end of the stick, there is nothing wrong with the Will-Daemon moving on and reconciling with Giotto while theoretically the ghost-Daemon is currently causing chaos and sufferings for the Simon Tenth out there) In short, there's no problem with the two of them being friend, at all.
And yet the scriptwriters have to choose the worst wordphrase possible for Giotto to express his feeling. In the 7,749 possible ways for the blond Primo to try to reconcile with his friend, he must choose the way of speaking to plummet this scene straight into the abyss regarding the total plot of KHR.
No, Giotto could have said directly "I want you to return to our family", or even more directly, "I miss you" to Daemon. But he has to say it like this. He has to say that his feelings towards Daemon have not changed after what Daemon did.
Which mean, in regard of the total plot of KHR, in regard of the Inheritance arc in the manga, that means Daemon almost killed Cozart and Cozart's entire family by using Giotto's name to lure Cozart to death. His betrayal almost kills Cozart and Giotto in here vocally states out that his feelings towards Daemon doesn't change.
"I still consider you as a friend even when another friend of mine almost died because of you being angry at me and my ideal." Yes, that's how this scene plays out to me. Even more ironically if we take the context of Giotto and Daemon mentioning about eternal friendship right before this sentence, because it would mean in the name of eternal friendship with Daemon Giotto is willing to be okay with Daemon messing with the Simon, and forgives Daemon for dragging Cozart and Cozart's family into a Vongola-personal-conflict between Giotto and Daemon.
May I ask, in the name of eternal friendship with Daemon, where is any value of friendship with Cozart presented, as Giotto says that there is nothing change in his feeling even when Cozart almost dies? And I am not even taking the fact that the Simon, now, is still suffered due to Daemon because perhaps Giotto doesn't know about it.
Until there is a reasonable answer for the "Cozart almost dying with the Simon doesn't make Giotto change his feeling or viewing towards his subordinate who committed that sin, yet he still makes Cozart's blood into the family heirloom to represent the family sin" statement, this scene in filler eliminates the chance of Simon arc being aired. If we follow the flow of the anime, Giotto right before the Inheritance arc indirectly dimisses the whole tragedy regarding the Simon and the arc after he is shown to be in deep friendship with that same founder of the Simon. Hypocrisy or two-faced, the card is being brought to the table here.

KHR!N-> Dictionary
Pure Flame
Tumblr media
Pure Flame is the designation given to individuals with a Dying Will Flame Density equal or above 90%. This can be determined by special devices. It's said that the destructive power of Pure Flames is unmatched and unparalleled. This concept however caused much confusion as the Dying Will Flames were explored more and "Pureness" become a meassurement of Resolve. Although the name "Pure Flame" remained, scientists have decided that the correct term for what it meassures would be Flame Density
Known Pure Flames in history
G [95%] (Vongola First Generation Storm Guardian)
All known Arcobaleno [inbetween 92% and 95% with Reborns density reaching 95%]
Hibari Kyoya [96%] (Neo Vongola First Generation Cloud Guardian)
Fran [90%] (Kokuyo Gang Illusionist)
Catlena D'Anzo [97%] (Varia Tyr Generation Head of Medical Station)
Tyr [91%] (former Boss of the Varia)
Daniela [98%] (Vongola Eight Generation Boss)
Simon Cozzato [92%] (Simon Family First Generation Boss)
Enma Kozato [91%] (Simon Family Tenth Generation Boss)
Vero Nemesi [95%] (Nuvella Family Eight Generation Boss)
The Vongola Heir Dying Will Flame Density test
A part of the selection of the Vongola Heir is the test of the heirs Dying Will Flame Density Level. However this has been only implemented since the 4th Generation. There is no rule or tradition about the heir needing a certain percentage of density to take over the family, as Fabio, the Seventh Generation Boss could become Boss despite a tested density of just 52%. Xanxus was the first and only one that managed to break the meassuring device and has no confirmed official Flame Density Percentage.
Multiple Flames and Density percentage
Originally the meassuring of a Dying Will Flames Density was reserved for only the Vongola main family and it's heirs, though further research especially from 1970 onward has discovered a few very important details. During the 1890 there was a big discussion regarding the concept of "Pure Flames" in a more problematic and very xenophobic way. There were many who believed that you were only a true strong mafiosi if your Dying Will Flame was "pure" in the sense of possessing only one Flame Type. It was suspected that "bastards" and people who were not "purebred" italians would fall into this category, causing social problems in which the sign of two flame types was seen as someone being a bastard child out of wedlock. There were however others arguing that being able to wield multiple flame types was a sign of genius and eugenic superiority. This eventually led to a particular question regarding flame research. Who was correct?
With a study in 1970 conducted by multiple scientists and with different variations, a paper was published in 1975 with prognosis' and first results of the yearlong research. One of it's biggest findings was that the human body could not withstand 100% of Dying Will Flame Density. "If your goal is to heat up water, you want to stay below 100° Celsius to prevent it from evaporating. Otherwise you may have reached your goal, but lost the result you were hoping for." - Dr. Fernando Giusepi.
The study also found out that this meant that holding multiple flames would cause serious damage on the human body if each flame added together exceeded 100% as all flame types resided in a body at the same time, leading to the afformentioned biological constrain of only adding up to at most 99%. In a research project conducted by Dr. Catlena D'Anzo and PhD. Toya Nomura, the results showed that all meassured participants with multiple flame types showed a high overall percentage in flame density, but split among the different flame types. Furthermore it seemed that high density percentages and pureness levels were far more common among individuals with multiple flame types, with usually one crystalizing as the most dominant in an individual, dubbing the others the "secondary flame types". Dr. D'Anzo wrote in her research summary that further observation would be necesary and that this result could also in theory result in an explanation for the Flame of Wrath phenomenon, however there was no indivudual with these needed characteristics that participated in the study.
Consequences
In 1986 Dr. Catlena D'Anzo released a follow up paper on The Medical And Biological Consequences Of High Flame Density. It was a 236 page long paper of observations and about 10 years of research cleanly and transparently documenting the changes in the study- and controlgroup of about 146 people. In her study she concluded that ultimately a density percentage of over 82% can already influence an individuals health, be it physically or mentally. Individuals who actively used their flames in daily life would see an increase related to the amount of flame power used and depending on the flame density the after-effects could be massively aggravated. For people old fashionably considered "Pure Flame" the chance of severe health risks and bodily deterioration would be even worse.
However, there was no follow up study by her and further independant studies have shown similar to mixed results. It has now become a standart to warn someone who tests their flame density above 80% of it's possible repurcussions and influence on their health, though not many people take these PSAs very seriously.
Other Trivia
It is speculated that Giotto Vongola the Vongola family first generation boss also possessed a high density Dying Will Flame, however records are too few to properly deny or confirm this. His legendary status however has led to many Vongola members undoubtedly believing, that Giotto must've been the only person in history to ever reach a Flame density of 100%. Scientifically this is not possible, but it remains a firmly held belief
It's common for younger people to refrain from using "Pure Flame" as a title as it is not just scintifically incorrect, but also holds a lot of associations leading back to the big debate about wether someone was more "pure bred" if they only had one flame type, or special, because they could use multiple different types. Many older mafiosi and especially traditionalists will argue that it's just a naming convention but there is a significant shift in the cultural Zeitgeist.
In Catlenas research on the consequences of high flame density she mentions that her observation of high density sky flames has been mostly inconclusive and that it just might be the only flametype that may have either less severe repurcussions or none at all.
While Flame Density and Pureness seem to have many overlapping characteristics, they are indeed very seperate things. Flame pureness can be cultivated and changed while flame density is similar to a flame type something determined by birth. There are still people who use the two interchangably however. Notably there is still the misconception that rings break due to not matching a flames purity, when the density of the flame plays a vital role in a rings stability. In the same vein however the flame density stands in relation of how much strain someone has to conjour in order to use their flame at all. This makes people with multiple flame types more susceptible to fatigue and exhaustion when they use their flames for an excessive amount of time.
There was once a Soda brand that advertized itself as bossting your flame density and pureness, however it was completely shut down in the span of a week and the brand issued an official apology.
