sometimes i think about how amy and lex, bex, and rex are all the same age and my mind is briefly boggled

the triplets are like 9-10 here and yet they act like unhinged toddlers with the way they are constantly speaking all in caps and running around breaking things

then Lex is acting like a horny teenage boy when boys his age are fully in their “ewww cooties” phase most of the time.

not the mention that the way they also tie each other up and “prank each other” is borderline psychopathic, i mean tying Lex to a chandelier why he’s sleeping? tying up Lovise and trying to force feed her exliers.

it’s very obvious Shannon messager is a only child because thats not how younger siblings act, even the unhinged ones.

they would realistically try to break into the sleepover by trying to act mature, and try to talk to Dex’s friends because thats just how younger siblings are. Bex would probably start telling embarrassing stories about Dex, Lex would probably have a fart gun of some sort instead of grabbing Biana. the only thing they do thats age appropriate is Bex threatening to dunk Harry in mud.

what i would change about their characters specifically.

Bex would have less volume issues and would keep the lack of filter, but it would be used for telling embarrassing stories about her brother and saying things tnat way out of left field to the point that her parents are embarrassed.

Lex would stay the most “annoying one” but would probably just throw things and make gross noises, shoot nerf guns at the body gards, he would be the one to steal harry not Bex, and would be the biggest prankster.

Rex would be the most mellow one, getting blamed for what Lex does, just konda follows his brother and sisters lead, he would try to be friends with Dex’s friends but would end up being the little sibling they don’t want there.

when i say i think it would be funny if Lex’s full name is Alexander, i mean i literally think Kesler and Juline would give only one of the triplets a full name to cause chaos and confusion.

i have to agree with frizz here. the triplets do not act twelve. i only realized they were twelve when i read unlocked for the first time and they manifested, because their maturity level is more akin to children of six or seven years old.

honestly about that triplets reddit post, someone who consistently works with kids around the age of the triplets and younger and has been for years, the triplets in the book have the energy of toddlers, the speaking patterns of elementary schoolers (ie. all caps aka screaming) and in Lex’s case the interest in girls of 13yos at 11.

while its not that big of an deal because it’s literally a book for middle schoolers, its very obvious that Shannon is probably am only child because the siblings don’t actually act like siblings, they act like Disney (lol) channel little siblings, or get along a little too well like Fitz and Biana

Okay, I haven't spent much time around middle schoolers for a couple years, so I'll trust you on this.

I'm surprised, though—running around and making too much noise seems standard from what I remember of that age range.

thinking about amy and how much she's matured since losing sophie and everything that's happened since, how this bratty little sister became the trusted keeper of sophie's secrets, how their relationship has evolved because of this innate difference they grew up without a clue of, and how amy could never be a part of her sister's world, despite the fascination she has for it.

thinking about rex. about the maturing he'll have to do very soon, about the distance that being talentless will put between him and his siblings, how their relationship will evolve, how it will always feel like they belong in the elven world more than he does because of something he can't change.

thinking about the very yin and yang looking picture this paints, when you put them up next to each other.
