I have decided to yap more. But don't worry, this will be a shorter yapping.
It is about one of my many very sad kotlc oc.
Her name is Clarette. She lives wherever one of those fire sites Sophie and her friends visited. She looks exactly like Clarette but younger, sounds exactly like Clarette, even has already manifests as a polyglot (but she thinks she's just really, really fast at learning languages), will manifest as a flasher-
But she's not related in anyway to that Councilor. Everything is purely coincidental.
Sad, like I said
Basically, she decides to visit one of the fire sites, Grady sees her, but doesn't acknowledge it, even though he's thinking: why the hail does that girl look like Councilor clarette
Later, an emissary searches that place too, and this time he sees Clarette. Brings her back and that's all I got. The end.

KotLC OC tournament info post - 18/24
Ariadne Varil
Tumblr media
Name: Ariadne Varil
Species: Elf
Gender/Pronouns: she/her
Creator: Swan @an-ungraceful-swan
Short desc: Ariadne is a former/partially retired Council informant who grew up as part of the nobility. After going to exillium on an assignment as a coach she fell for an actual coach. Ensue a messy breakup as her intentions are revealed which she’s still not over
Backstory: Ariadne Varil was born into a lower noble family, as the middle of her siblings, never quite old enough to run with her older sister’s friends, most of whom were in the elite levels by the time she started tutoring, and too reserved to ever really fall in with her brother’s friends, all of whom were menaces in their own right, despite being only a year younger than her. She manifested quite young as a flasher, though never had much talent in her ability and excelled more in her other classes and areas of study. Her father was a low ranking regent, but his meager connections were enough to get her an internship type job going into the elite levels, working under the then Emissary Clarette.
As her education became more focused, she took more classes focused on politics and history, and had quite an affinity for seeing through the glitz and glamor in the upper echelons of the elven world and being able to analyze what it was and understand people’s positions. When she graduated she officially became an assistant to an older Emissary, one who’d long since established himself at the crux of Elven politics, though continued discrete communication and under the table work for Clarrette. She was never especially close with her family, and moved to an apartment in Atlantis nearly immediately after graduating. Her matching was handled as a quiet affair, she simply got her list, sat down for dinner with the eligible suitors, and talked it through with them. She never saw it as anything other than a necessary part of maintaining her status among the nobility and blending into the masses, and made that fact quite clear to her potential spouses. She eventually married her husband, though they continued living separately, leading their own lives and really only presenting as a couple when strictly necessary, especially for the first hundred years or so of their marriage. They each had their own aspirations and affiliations, and that was quite enough for them.
She was just over 200 years old when Clarette became a councillor, and she had been serving as a regent for some time. Her role got elevated to that of an Emissary and she was trusted with her first more important project than simply passing along the little whispers she could scrounge up. Without any official ways to keep track of elves that had either left or been banished from larger society, she went simply to gather information in one of the larger communities, posing as someone who had become disillusioned with the Lost Cities and couldn’t “stay in their crystal palaces” anymore. The plan had been to stay for a century, long enough to engrain herself and pass along valuable information, but it got cut short when her cover was blown less than halfway through her assignment. She managed to get out and return home, but not before picking up some rather obvious scarring. Ariadne moved in with her husband for the first extended period of time, and took quite a bit of time to herself, recuperating on her new estate that she’d been absent from up until that point. She was a bit conflicted, after all despite her unfortunate parting spending time away from the Lost Cities had been eye opening to her and it was odd being back without anyone to really talk about what she’d seen. It’s why when she was presented with the opportunity to work on another longer term mission, this time based in Exilium, she agreed, becoming one of the coaches of the program. There she met fellow Coach Nikola, and took an immediate liking to her for how genuine she seemed. It was refreshing after her time spent back in elven upper society, and rarely did Niko ever mince her words or hide what she was feeling. Ariadne’s job at Exillium was simple, be eyes to report back anything that might be happening among the students and fit in as a coach, but growing closer to Niko she saw just how much the other coach cared about the kids, even if the culture of the program dissuaded her from showing it. Seeing someone with such passion for carving their own path against the grain, trying against all odds to do good, when Ari had simply been skating along and following orders her whole life, dealing with information she was rather detached from, it was a change, and a bit of a wake up call. She wasn’t really all that surprised as she developed feelings, she’d had feelings for colleagues and acquaintances before, but her marriage for the match and duty to her job had always prevented her from doing much more than acknowledging them. Here, under a name that wasn’t quite hers, with someone quite interested in holding her accountable, she had no such obligations, and fell into a relationship of sorts, even partially moving into Niko’s apartment after some time had passed.
Of course all things come to an end, and some of the students at Exilium had been not so discreetly planning some illegal activities as a way to get back to the council. It’d come to the coaches attention, and consensus lead by Niko was to let it diffuse naturally. Of course the kids were bound to be angry, but they were all talk and needed a place to vent their righteous frustration. Privately, Ariadne disagreed and after a bit of internal debate reported it up through her pipeline. It was dealt with by the proper authorities, resulting in punishments being meted out and the kids written off from most chances to rejoin the lost cities, but in the process Ariadne’s role in it was revealed and Nikola realized she had just been there as an informant and thus felt rightfully betrayed and angry. They had a singular blow up fight before Nikola resolved to icing Ariadne out, something that worked as Ariadne was back in the lost cities within the year. She now has whatever the elven spy equivalent of a desk job is, attending functions and keeping an ear to the ground, but otherwise has very little to do. Despite time having passed since, she’s quite conflicted about the whole thing, feeling just bad enough to have the seeds of discontent slowly sowed. Angsts about her estate, is rather dramatic with the whole situation and feels isolated at this point. She’s currently working as simply someone with her ear to the ground at galas and whatnot, the elven spy equivalent of a desk job, but is a bit resentful of the whole thing not quite sure how she feels about it all.

✧ A/N: this is the first chapter of my kotlc au, i hope you all like it!!!
***
CHAPTER ONE
Sophie Foster had a book resting on her desk, and frankly, she wanted to use it.
To read? No, in her opinion, books were convenient weapons. Found in almost every classroom, they usually had a hard surface, and when that cover connected with a head? Man, it could cause some serious damage. And based on her partner’s childish behavior, she was sure a head as big as his could take a hit without being seriously injured.
“Can you just help me, please?” Sophie practically begged. She wanted this art project done as fast as possible, especially considering she was working with Foxfire Academy’s most famous prankster—Keefe Sencen. She opened her mouth to let out another frustrated comment but instead instinctively shied away as he stretched his arms out and placed them behind his head.
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t want to.”
“When do you ever?”
“Only if there’s food involved. Ooh, how about my aid in exchange for marshmallows? I love those.” Sophie felt her face grow hotter as her partner shot her a smug grin and tapped his paintbrush against his lips.
Which was why when the art teacher turned her back on the students in her classroom to drone on about watercolor techniques, Sophie swiftly picked up her notebook and flung it at the boy sitting leisurely in the seat next to her. Heads turned and the two felt all eyes on them as they glared at one another furiously.
“Ow! What was that for?”
“For being an insufferable ass.”
“Miss Foster, I heard that!” Ms. Clarette whirled around, her gaze sweeping the room until it locked onto Sophie’s. “I don’t tolerate such language in my classroom. And books are for reading, not throwing. See me after class.”
Beside her, Sophie’s partner murmured, “‘Insufferable ass’? Really? You could’ve so much better—“
“You too, Mr. Sencen!”
Keefe Sencen threw his hands up in the air dramatically as Sophie scoffed.
“I’m the victim here, Ms. Clarette!” He exclaimed in anguish. But then he shot his partner a devilish grin, momentarily breaking his theatrical facade.
“If anyone, I’m the victim.” Sophie replied, disgusted. Ms. Clarette glanced at the clock and clapped her hands. “Dismissed!”
Everyone simultaneously jumped to their feet with their bags and filed out the door in a big messy clump. Unenthusiastically, Keefe and Sophie made their way to their teacher’s desk.
“Mr. Sencen,” Ms. Clarette started. “You know what our rules are. Give your best and—“
“Aid those who need it, blah, blah, blah. Yes, I know.”
“Still you refused to lend Miss Foster a hand when she was clearly struggling. I could give you a day of detention for your behavior—“
“Great! See ya, bye!”
“—But, I’d hate to see my best student wasting away in a classroom full of unruly delinquents.” Keefe’s chest ever so slightly puffed up in pride; it took all of Sophie’s strength to suppress her disbelieving scoff. Yet what Ms. Clarette said next had both their jaws slack in incredulousness.
“That’s why you’re going to be tutoring Miss Foster until the end of the term.”
A deafening silence entered the room like an elephant. “You’ve…you’ve got to be joking,” Sophie said, laughing. Her smile faded as Ms. Clarette’s shook her head, dead serious.
“If you don’t improve for the upcoming midterm, you’re going to fail the subject. I’m turn, that is going to directly affect your GPA.”
“As much as I hate how this is unfolding,” Keefe butted in. “She does have a point. Your artwork is—“
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence.”
“What? It’s true.”
“I’m assuming we have a deal?” Ms. Clarette confirmed, effectively breaking up the argument. Sophie nodded sullenly while Keefe shot her two finger guns.
“And, Sophie,“ The teacher gave her a pointed look. “You owe someone an apology.”
“Do I have to?”
“Unless you want me to extend those tutoring sessions to two terms…”
“Okay, fine!”
Feeling particularly petty, Sophie slung her backpack onto one shoulder and turned to face Keefe entirely. She was hit with a humorous (yet dangerous) glint dancing in his eyes, barely concealed. His weight one one leg, he leaned against Ms. Clarette’s desk with a cocked one eyebrow, amused and and waiting.
“I am so very sorry that your big head is a little too sensitive.” She said with an evil smile, savoring the pissed expression that slowly took over Keefe’s features. Brows furrowing, his lips twisted into a playful scowl. “My head is not big!”
“It is too.”
“Is not.”
“Is too.”
“Is not!”
“If you both could take this outside, I can head home and leave you two to your bickering.” Keefe and Sophie’s mouths’ snapped shut as Ms. Clarette got to her feet, ushering them both out the door and locking her classroom. And with a quick “goodbye”, she hurried down the hallway, her blood red heels clacking against the tiled floor.
“Sooo…I guess you’re stuck with me now!” Keefe said cheerfully, knowing it would irritate his tutee more than anything.
“Oh, don’t remind me!” She snapped back, just as expected. Keefe let himself grin uncontrollably; for some reason, getting under Sophie’s skin was indescribably delightful; she way her mouth would turn into a pout, how her right eyebrow always slanted just a bit more than the left when her face was twisted in anger and annoyance.
“Ready for the lesson then?”
“Just stop, will you?”
“Just to spite you, no.” Keefe crossed his arms and tilted his head up in a challenge. Sophie’s pale complexion turned pink.
“Keep this up and I'll hit you with a book again!”
“Ooh, feisty.”
“Keefe Sencen!”

Do you have any kotlc actor au headcannons for the council? Also I love the au!!
Oralie’s hair is naturally straight and has to re-curl it every day
Kenrick and Bronte’s butts hurt after filming every tribunal scene because their chairs are super uncomfortable.
Most of the side councilors all have wild headcannons about their characters and enjoy discussing these headcannons with other people
Terik is the oldest and Clarette’s the youngest with a 12 year age difference
Zarina bleached her hair for the role.
Velia is partially deaf and uses hearing aids off camera
Liora, Terik, Kenric, and Clarette are the only council members to not have kids.
Derek consistently trips on his cape
Oralie swears like a sailor off camera
Bronte was a child actor
Clarette is a famous singer
Oralie and Bronte are the only ones with naturally blue eyes.
Everyone else has to wear colored contacts
Ramina works in mostly action films

can’t remember if i asked you this yet but Clarette and Noland?
I was just looking into Clarette for the most recent chapter of my fic :D So this is perfect timing
It's also kind of funny that you ask for both of them at once bc I actually think of them as friends
Clarette:
Clarette is one of the longer-serving Councillors.
She's not very close to being an Ancient, but she's been on the Council for a very long time and knows how things work.
She assumes a very dignified persona, but her fellow Councillors know that she knows how to have fun
She manifested as a Flasher when she was pretty young, 12 or 13, and wasn't terribly good at it
So when she manifested again as a Polyglot at 15, she was excited to start over and really dive into an ability she could be really good at
She'd always been fascinated by different languages and species, especially animals, so she was thrilled that she got to speak with them
Her parents, similar to Grady and Edaline, ran an animal preserve, although theirs was less about rehabilitating animals and more about research/breeding
So she's been an animal person for a very long time and loves that she can talk to them
She was elected for her outreach to other species and her constant perseverance
She's pretty extroverted and friendly, and she trash-talks the other Councillors to the friends she still has from before she was elected
But she's always had a soft spot for Noland (classic extrovert adopts introvert type of friendship)
She's unsure how she feels about Sophie. Sometimes she supports her, and sometimes she sees her as a threat.
Noland:
Noland was a very quiet child born into a pretty loud family, so he often felt out of place
Especially when he manifested as a Vociferator
He always preferred to sit back and observe rather than take action, but his ability caused him to have to be loud
He went deaf in one ear when he manifested and has reduced hearing in the other; he can now read lips and is working on inventing a form of sign language
Noland thought he'd have to struggle for control of his ability his whole life
Especially since he was the second-ever Vociferator to ever manifest
But then his Mentor, the first Vociferator and an Ancient, showed him how to control his ability
He began to realize what potential it had.
Noland, who'd always been quiet and blending into the background, had an opportunity to be heard.
He still rarely uses his ability, but when he does, it makes a big impact.
Noland was elected for his kindness and meticulous work in revamping the Foxfire curriculum to help prodigies with rare abilities
He was intimidated by Clarette at first, but after they worked on a project together, he realized he liked working with her and they made a good team.
Noland did not like Sophie at first, too intimidated by all of the implications of her existence, but he's gradually grown to respect her
