I always find it so entertaining when people talk about Sophie's brown eye genes getting passed down and single-handedly changing another elven norm

BECAUSE

it is entirely possible (if not probable) that Sophia carries the ressive gene for blue eyes and that if she has a kid there's a 50 percent chance that the kid will just have regular blue eyes lol. Like the kid can't even have blue eyes and carry the genes for brown eyes, so no epic symbolism lol.

This also makes me think of all those Sokeefe fanfics where their kid(s) all have brown eyes and 12 million abilities, but I would just like to point out that 1. Keefe's new abilities are not genetic and can't really be passed down and 2. Sophie's abilities probably can't be passed down because of the amount of genetic tweaking her embryo had to go through to accommodate the abilities.

I like thinking of their future kid as an actually really normal elf with one MAYBE two talents who is really chill but kind of enjoys casually name-dropping their own last name at foxfire. Like he or she is just some guy with some INSANE parents.

I was outlining my fanfiction, The Lost Cities, this morning. I decided to tag the most important scenes when I go to reference the book. I forgot how many important things happened in the first hundred pages or so (probably a little less than that if you have the edition without pictures). I knew things happened fast, but I forgot they happened that fast.

wow okay so: freelance artist keefe who has the brilliant idea of spending seven consecutive afternoons in a floral shop to collect inspiration for his most recent plant-related commission. he gets distracted by the grumpy florist with cool hair he keeps coming back even after the commission is done to keep annoying the pretty florist touch grass without having to leave the air conditioning, he says. and maybe burnt-out med school dropout tam could've kicked him out a long time ago but. Got bored, figured I'd change the course of Elvin History for gits and shiggles:

We the people of the Lost Cities hold the firm, unchangeable belief in the unalienability of all people’s natural rights: life, liberty (the right to do any noninjurious act), property, and pursuit of happiness in any noninjurious manner. We present this petition, a declaration of revolution against the Council of the Lost Cities, and a constitution for millenia to come, with the hopes of true peace.

ON GOVERNMENT

There shall be three Councils: Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. Each Council shall consist of twelve people elected by the people, be they noble, working class, or Councillor, according to their qualifications for the position.

Each Council will consist of four individuals. The current Councillors (Alina, Bronte, Clarette, Darek, Emery, Liora, Noland, Oralie, Ramira, Terik, Velia, and Zarina) may choose which Council they go to and maintain their position or resign, their roles being replaced by elected officials.

The Legislative Council will make laws for the common good of the people, who reserve the right to petition for or against laws. The Legislative Council may only pass a law through unanimous vote. Laws can be amended to promote this. Upon approval by the Legislative Council, the law will be passed to the Executive Council, who will vote for or against the law, seeking a majority vote. If such a thing cannot be reached, the law will be passed back to the Legislative Council for revision or discarded if such revision cannot be made.

The Executive Council will have the final vote in whether or not a law is passed. Their duty will be to represent, protect, and serve as a collective body of magistrates which will only pass laws beneficial to the people. This finality and dependence on Legislative unanimosity is what provides them with the need for a mere 75% of votes for a law to pass.

The Judicial Council will be the Lost Cities’ court of law, with decision in guilt, innocence, and sentencing, after a trial with a jury and defense for the defendent. All punishments must fit crimes and all punished must be proven guilty. It is better for the guilty to run free than the innocent to be imprisoned.

All Councillors will be allowed to marry and bear children if they wish to do so.

No Councillor who has not reached the age of nineteen years may run for office or be elected.

ON EDUCATION

All children aged five through eighteen years hold the right to an education in a Primary (age five to ten), Secondary (age eleven to sixteen), and Elite (age seventeen and eighteen) setting, in subjects such as arithmetic, literature, the arts, science, multispecisial studies, history, agriculture, etc. Children of Secondary and Elite age will be allowed to attend Foxfire Academy regardless of special ability or lack thereof. Exillium will be a school for those who do not learn well in a traditional educational setting.

This is a reiteration: Talentless Prodigies reserve the right to an education in Foxfire’s Elite levels just as much as those who have manifested, as do Pyrokinetics.

Foxfire’s auditorium will be used for theatrical performances such as music, dance, plays, and musicals.

ON SPECIAL ABILITIES

No individual shall be prohibited from utilizing their special ability so long as the manner of usage is noninjurious. Pyrokinetics and Shades will not be discriminated against. Just as Telepaths and other special abilities have rules, so will Pyrokinetics. No individual shall be prohibited from or discriminated against based on practice of their special ability, nor shall they be discriminated against based on lack of special ability.

ON THE MATCHMAKING SYSTEM

The Matchmaking System is to be abolished. The only marriages which can be stopped or scorned are those in which one or both party is under the age of nineteen years or the parties are biologically related to one another. All individuals at or above the age of nineteen years reserve the right to a marriage based on mutual respect, trust, and affection.

ON EXILE, MIND BREAKS, and SIMILAR ISSUES

To shatter someone’s sanity is to commit an atrocity. All individuals, no matter how awful their actions, deserve consciousness. Exile is to be a containment and rehabilitation location and individuals are to be treated with dignity and respect. Lifelong Exile is only to occur if the individual’s death occurs before they are fit to reenter society.

Banishments for accidental crimes such as floods are to be lifted. Children who have not been taught better are not to be banished. Banished individuals must have the right to prove themselves worthy or reentry. Banishment is to be a last resort followed only by Exile.

CONCLUSION

We the people of the Lost Cities present all current Councillors with a choice: accept these terms or resign. We do not intend to cause violence or harm. Any Councillor who does not wish to govern under these terms is free to cease their tenure as a Councillor and return to a peaceful life without consequence from us.

iughhhh you guys keefitz was so good like genuinelyyyyyy this guy wants everything this other guy has perfect family perfect personality perfect looks which is gay af but he wants alllllllll of that he wants that to be HIM and its NOT he wants that older brother he wants that dad he wants that mom he idolizes it all theyre best friends theyre each others ONLY FRIENDS until suddenly thwy become popular and fitz becomes hotter and suddenly he has to share him with EVEDYONE ELSE which is FINE its FINE until this girl comes and he likes this girl sure but this girl REALLY likes fitz and suddenly theyre both keeping secrets and hanging out and doing these private telepathy sessions and its still fine theyre still best friends right right but now fitz isnt telling him things hes telling her and oh my god his older brother just ran away and that life isnt so perfect anymore bjt also it kind of HAS to be like this is what hes dreamed of his whole life its gotta be ok its always ok for the vackers but oh god he IDOLIZED alvar and he LOVES fitz even if everythings not perfect anymore but fitz doesnt wanna be near him and he just wants to fix everyrhing and he runs away and he knows the entire time fitz will hate him but he can fix things he really CAN and maybe in the back of his head hes thinking okay okay if i fix everything if i bring his older brother his idol back will we be best friends again will he love me but he really just fucks everything up and he comes back and he hasnt brought alvar back and fitz just hates him he canr look at him without seeing his older brother its all betrayal and he cant look past it and he just messed it all uo all over again and oh god fitz and sophie are getting closer and closer and everyone is watching his own family falling apart but he cant go to fitzs anymore to pretend its all alright because nothing is alright and fitz doesnt spend time with him anymore so all he can do is remember when he DID and they were BEST FRIENDS and when sophie and fitz are healing he hangs out there when he can hes just dying to be close to fitz and now it seems the only way this can happen is by being with sophie as well but he can see the space between sophie and fitz growing smaller and the space between him and fitz growing larger and larger and what can he do he cant stop it he has to walk away from the healing center knowing hes losing everything and everything is totally awful like really and then theyre together and he just might kill himself the two people he loves most in the world growing apart from him and hes awful and hes jealous and he tries to talk to sophie about it because he just cant talk to fitz about this he physically cant but he cant help the jealousy in his voice when hes with sophie and he cant help but point out the flaws he sees and he cant help but pray it wont work out because its so obvious its SO OBVIOUS fitz shouldnt be wirh sophie he should be with HIM he KNOWS IT but also he cant do anything and fitz hates him and maybe they should both just be happy with each other and maybe its better without him there right and then they break up and he literally does not know what to do or say or think because thank god but oh god he cant DO ANYTHING and fitz hates him MORE NOW and he knows fitz has the wrong idea abt whats going on but its not like he can correct fitz right he cant admit everythings thats happening to him he can only go along with whatever it is but its literally awful and now he cant even be in the same room as fitz without the tension being so palpable everyone notices even sophie and she doesnt know whats happening but shes beginning to get the wrong idea and he doesnt know how to say this because he can barely admit it to himself but its AWFUL and NO ONE KNOWS and HES IN LOVE WITH FITZ VACKER
