A question posed on twitter;

Where do Subject 7's (Mick's) detachable stripes come from?

It's quite simple

The appendages protrude from the base of his neck just below the brain stem and at the bottom of his back just above the tailbone. He is able to extend them quite a bit but is unable to retract them fully into his body. Subject 7 often wraps the stripes around his own limbs, we observe this to be some kind of self-soothing action similar to hugging yourself.

(unfortunately to present you with this diagram, we've had to shave Subject 7. This has increased the stress levels of all subjects, apologies.)

It's technically an au based off the music video for Korn's Make Me Bad mixed with the music video for Slipknot's Wait and Bleed but asfhchklknkkll

they're adults! Everyone in the au is an fully grown. if I add the newer members I was playing around with the idea of them being younger but idk about that yet. Sorry if it's not clear I just enjoy drawing them in a more chibi style and I'm.. uh, a little inconsistent with sizes 😅😅 I need to try improving on that...

I might do some flashback stuff where they first "hatched" in the lab but present day for the au they're all grown up, sorry for the confusion

Joey, who was newly updated today, looked so beautiful—like both the Lord of the Flies and a fairy—and was truly lovely.

The members sleeping huddled together were also heartbreakingly adorable…

I deeply apologize for the imposition, but I found myself wondering what Chris might look like in the Lab AU, and ended up putting pen to paper.🙇‍♀️

I imagined a form resembling a Japanese yokai, such as a crow tengu or tengu.🐦‍⬛👺

Awesome job with the designs, as always. Love Dr. Hitch's notes on them. You really get a feel for how the boys behave/react to the lab and how they interact with each other in this environment. Your worldbuilding is very well done, and one of my favorite things to focus on when I'm writing/looking at others works. Please have a good day/night! <3

Also, side note. The clear extreme fear Dr. Hitch has for clown is really funny. The obvious bias in her notes is sending me. MUST BE RESTRAINED AND CONTAINED AT ALL TIMES!

I really love character studies and theorizing how characters would act in different circumstances so I'm very happy that I think I've been pretty spot on :333 one of the reasons AUs are my favorite type of fanfic. the world building is the second reason, I think if I ever got a job creating RPG homebrews I could rock that shit, I love over explaining my lore 😈

I've never had a fear of clowns so I always find it to be extremely funny when I meet people who have a clown aversion. Dr. Hitch having a fear of clowns is my favorite thing about her, because it makes her suffer and I hope she dies (you guys don't know how much of a bitch she is yet but just wait)
