I want to hear your lapidot rant

I wrote this in 2018 lol, right after Reunited (and funnily enough the reunion between Lapis and Peridot, where the former literally just says "hey", pissed me off)

tl;dr it's a toxic ship with shaky foundations, an even shakier chemistry built on denial and stagnation, and whose harmful effects on Peridot got glossed over because the finale was rushed. Lapis was objectively a bad person to Peridot - which is not my problem! It makes sense for her character and her issues! But nothing came out of it! They just made up off screen and then stopped interacting but still acted like besties!

I had a similar friendship. I was the Peridot, bending backwards to make my friend happy, who then decided she didn't like me anymore and left me alone and heartbroken. This is why I'm still salty about how popular Lapidot used to be. I never got the appeal, and I felt cheated by the ending.

It doesn't help that Lapis and Peridot were genuinely better characters when separated. Back to the Kindergarten was the first time I liked Peridot ever since uhhhh that episode where she discovered her magnetism powers. Which also had her hanging out with Steven and Amethyst but not Lapis :) when around Lapis, she was reduced to the Silly Meepmorp Comic Relief and I couldn't stand it. And I grew tired of Disheveled Emo Teen Lapis very soon.

anyway the superior ship is jaspis because the show was very clear about how fucked up it was lol. i appreciate the honesty

But Amedot was cute too :) the two had much better chemistry together IMO.

If you could do a lapidot reunion how would you do it.

Okay I’m going to avoid writing an entire mini fic here lol. I’m assuming you mean like how I would’ve changed it in Reunited.

First off, Peridot would’ve gone in for that hug, whether that’s before or after “you’re really here.” A hug was sorely missing from that scene and I’m forever bitter.

Lapis would’ve genuinely apologized and owned up to what she did. We see that she knows what she did was wrong and regrets it in Can’t Go Back; I assume there was an apology made off screen, and it would’ve been nice to see it actually play out.

Peridot wouldn’t completely forgive her, what she did was extremely hurtful, but she would be willing to put it behind them and move forward. She’d communicate her feelings and Lapis would listen.

Those two just need to have a long talk about their feelings and both have things to work on (Peridot hiding her feelings, Lapis acting rashly out of fear).

And of course both would cry and just want to hug the other. They missed each other desperately.

So I finally decided to near finish my thoughts on how I would want and couple other people would want a lapidot reunion 🤔 I want to have your opinion on what I have so far and would like to have your opinion on it if not you can just ignore this message ok please and thanks 💙💚👍

Ps I also have things that could have been fixed

The first thing lapis should of done was when she returns and dropped the barn was say I'm sorry as the events transpire

Make it where when lapis comes back she is the first to reform before peridot

Have lapis ask if she can still be with peridot while crying and apologizing constantly/profusely about everything and tells her that everything they did together meant everything to hey

Acknowledge that her leaving and taking peridots stuff was wrong and apologize and tell how it was not justified whatsoever

Have her tell how much peridot means to her and how she doesn't wanna be without peridot and she means the world to her

Lapis comforts peridot with her saying how even if she will not get forgiven for was she has done she wants to spend the rest of her life with peridot crying peridot comfort her saying she wants to also stay with her telling her how she was hurt but is willing to work through it

Lapis tells peridot that she is willing to do whatever ever it takes make it up to peridot and to be with peridot and be a better her (Which would explain why she goes with peridot to defeat homeworld and doesn't use the rejuvenater on her self knowing she has trauma)

Lapis is the first one to cry with the thought of peridot might not wanting to be with her but she wants to be with peridot so she is the first one to talk to peridot and tell her how much she means to her and wants to be with her whilst apologizing even if it means peridot might not want her around or even wanna talk to her

Lapis promise/swears to not hurt peridot in the future both emotionally and or physically

Lapis after being poofed and then coming back first hopes and prays that peridot is not mad at her that a source of happiness and coping for her still wants to even be with her especially with the way she left leaving lapis devastated and very sad

After peridot tell lapis how she felt about everything and why she couldn't be honest with her ( small angry to lost energy sad not crying sad) lapis comforts her in saying how much she matters to her and how everything they did to together mattered to her and made her so happy and doesn't wanna be without her whilst crying

Lapis feels she can't be with peridot but is willing to do whatever it takes to be with her

Small detail I would have liked if lapis wore peridots bow tie after she left.

In the room in the moon I would have liked if she said she missed peridot

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HAVE HER LEAVE AFTER SHE RETURNS BECAUSE IT MAKES NO SENSE

Why would they ever both take years later to talk in the future about their problems when is should most definitely happen imminently!

We definitely needed to see a reconciliation and some apologies, it felt weird that none of it was ever addressed in the show at all.

If you could do a better lapidot reunion how would you do it

Apparently the crew had originally planned for Lapis to give Peridot a big apology speech, and they later changed it to her just saying "Hi" which... yeah probably should have stuck with the original idea. But that was 10 years ago so what can you do?

Some doodles for the ever awaited Lapidot reunion. Its basicly a Alone at Sea flip flop because im unoriginal rip.

I took the leaks into consideration here. Because before the leaks I thought Peridot was gonna be pissed when Lapis came back. (I still think it would of made for a better storyline for Peridot to be upset when Lapis returns but I dont run Steven universe lol)

My prediction for the actual Lapidot reunion is Lapis will be absolutely desperate for Peridot's forgiveness. Figuring this I wanted her pretty much beg for Peridot to forgive her. Peridot is overwelmed by Lapis' pleas, she's somewhat speechless, but is glad she is back.

So yeah. Reblog and your own words if you want. I dont mind.

i keep seeing lapidot reunion posts where peridot is happy to see lapis and they’re great and all bUt

imagine the reverse of barnmates

peridot being upset with lapis for leaving and the episode lapis tries to make it up to peridot

but that’s just a theory,, a space rocks theory

This is going to be long so you don't have to answer it just venting and would love your opinion.

Im a little upset we didn't get a lapidot reconcil during the reunion the big thing for me personally I wanted was for it to show how much lapis loves peridot and for her to comfort her saying how even if she will not get forgiven she wants to spend the rest of her life with peridot crying peridot comfort her saying she wants to also stay with her ask well each apologies to each other I would add more to this but keeping it simple because talking about how we didn't get it just gets me upset.

BTW love lapidot so much just upset they didn't get more time together

Completely agree! As much as I too would’ve loved to see something along those lines, the show didn’t really set up for a big love confession, but they could’ve easily thrown in a “you’re incredibly important to me and you’re worth facing my fear.” Something. Even leaving the apology offscreen and up to interpretation would’ve been okay if they’d had some sort of meaningful reconnect.

They definitely deserved more than they got. Both their reunion and what came after. The reunion felt rushed and incredibly unsatisfying, and then their relationship is just. Never brought up again?? We got lots of little hints in Future, but with the crew trying to keep it open ended and vague, everything about their development just seemed forgotten.

I have a lot of thoughts on this subject but I’m trying to keep them reeled in lol. You’re definitely not alone in your feelings though!

Is it bad that I absolutely love lapidot so so much but dislike the multiple reunions between the two after the events of raising the barn and still bitter about them but still love lapidot.

ps whilst also reading most reunions but find a few satisfactory.

That's valid! Opinions on these things are always going to be different, there's no right or wrong way to look at it. You can love a ship (or anything at all, really) and have elements of it that you dislike as well.
