NOT ONLY do meif’wa smoke catnip, but they also bake it into certain foods and make it into tea.
I imagine it has a similar effect as weed, with bad reactions being rare. It calms them, gives them a general sense of euphoria and can be used to relieve pain. Though if ingested in large quantities, it can work almost like melatonin, helping them relax and fall asleep. It does not cause hallucinations.
Meif’wa don’t really drink alcohol, but when they reach a certain age (i’m thinking around 15 or 16) they have their first catnip tea on their birthday, like how people (in america at least) have their first drink at 21.
Maybe there’s a ceremony 🤷
either way meif’wa catnip culture is like the opposite of (modern) human weed culture. it’s not taboo or judged, it’s something that’s very important to them and their culture.
On another, completely unrelated note, many werewolve tribes call it Sedativus Herbāceus (sedative herb). They tend to use it to well.. sedative others. Usually if they’re sick, injured, or need some kind of medical attention. Though they have used it for other purposes.
Catnip does have an effect on humans, the same as meif’wa, it’s just not as potent unless taken in large quantities.

Original Hoax Design for a Fake Sedative

The purpose of Tradizone is to promote “female behavioral health.” This is a tongue-in-cheek satire on gender roles within society, as if we could just take a supplement to put women in the “correct” position.
Within each dissolvable caplet is 120mg of isoflavone, 2400mg of valerian root extract, as well as lavender and chamomile extracts. These are rather large quantities of each compound, and that purpose is to be hyperbolic. There are also typical ingredients seen in effervescent caplets for chemical realism. Effervescent caplets are dissolvable and thus are not only more potent but can also be discreetly mixed into drinks. Isoflavone is the estrogen compound found within soy, and valerian is a flower containing a natural sedative. The purpose of the supplement is to increase femininity (through basic consumption of estrogen) and to sedate the user (through valerian). This is to, according to the label, “promote natural feminine energy.” The nefarious purpose of this hoax is to spread misinformation that women should naturally be submissive to men, and that there is an easy way for men to “put women in their place.”
My targeted demographic for use is women, but I imagine if this supplement were to truly exist, it would be advertised to men for use on their female partners and children. The women willing to buy this supplement are probably quite vulnerable if they believe they are lacking in feminine qualities and plagued by “masculine” thoughts of independence and aspiration beyond being a submissive homemaker. Women should embrace their independent thought and aspirations and achieve whatever they autonomously want to. Men who are willing to buy this to use on their female partners and children probably hunger for power and dominance over whatever or whoever they can, even if it is those closest to them. If we must take a supplement to achieve certain behavior, even if it is advertised as natural, are there truly natural behavioral differences in men and women when it comes to free will and independent thought?

To achieve the look of truthfulness, I employed a design that mimics a real supplement, so that it looks real at first glance. The design was largely based off the bottle for TopCare lactase enzyme pills, which has a rather generic yet pharmaceutical-looking label. The Tradizone label is the same size as a Melatonin supplement bottle I also owned. I had to reference chemical engineering resources to create an accurate ingredient list for an effervescent caplet, as well as other scientific resources to figure out the dose of isoflavone and valerian root extract. Chemically speaking, this supplement should be able to be manufactured and consumed. [I am not a scientist I have no actual idea]
When placed next to other medications and supplements, the Tradizone label fits rather well, design-wise. This graphic design artifact is meant to blend into the medicine cabinet, yet able to easily be read and understood. It does not try to hide itself. Much like beliefs on the proper behaviors of men and women, it is based on years of innovation. So obvious, yet so hidden.

Nearly 20 million people in the U.S. suffer from sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder which makes it difficult to breathe while sleeping. One of the most common causes of this disorder is alcohol use. Alcohol can interfere with normal sleeping patterns, which can lead to sleep apnea.
Alcohol is a depressant, and when taken it can interfere with the body's natural production of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep. When alcohol is consumed in large quantities, it can cause a person to become groggy and fall asleep quickly. Once they've stopped consuming alcohol, their body has to work harder to stay alert and produce regular bouts of sleep each night. This disrupted sleeping pattern can lead to sleep apnea.
According to research, alcohol can encourage snoring and episodes of apnea as it relaxes throat muscles. Snoring is one of the common signs of sleep apnea. Snoring also causes a decrease in the oxygen levels in your bloodstream. This could result in an even more serious sleep-related problem including irregular heartbeats, hypertension, arrhythmia, and even stroke.
Below are three ways to reduce the risk of sleep apnea as a result of alcohol consumption:
Limit alcohol consumption- try to limit your intake to only one to two drinks per sitting.
