What is ultrasound condition monitoring?
Caravan Reliability Services Provide Best bearing maintenance training and preventive and predictive maintenance for the Industries.
What if we could monitor the condition of the machine on a regular schedule without stopping the machine?
The advantages of regular condition monitoring are:
Reduction of the Duration of Scheduled Maintenance: As the condition of the machine will be known well before the machine is stopped for maintenance, lesser time can be spent in visually inspecting components.
Reduction in the number of Unplanned Stops: Regular condition monitoring will reduce the number of unplanned stops as the condition and life of the various components can be predicted and a plan can be put in place to replace or repair them.

Simon hunts Nik. Nik toys with him.
cw: Nik gets off on being prey.
The wind whispered faintly past broken panes and rusted steel as Simon picked his way through the skeletal remains of the high-rise. Debris and shattered glass crunched underfoot, every step careful, calculated to leave no trace. Like a ghost.
The building he’d chosen was once a corporate tower, now a concrete husk, gutted and abandoned. No different to any other war-torn hellscape, except the vast majority of the city was still populated, even if the building itself was too fragile to trust as shelter. It offered the perfect vantage for Simon's purposes though; an unimpeded view of the fire exit at the back of the building opposite, and minimal risk of counter-sniper exposure.
He reached his chosen spot by stairwell, avoiding the elevator shaft, which gaped like an open wound through the building's spine. He cleared every landing as he went. The last thing he needed was some street kid hopping on his back and getting a knife to the gut. Room by room. Corner by corner. Cleaning house. Johnny would be proud, Simon thought wryly.
He built his nest in the remains of a corner office; half its outer wall gone, wind whipping tattered blinds over jagged concrete edges. Simon set his pack down silently, using his knee guard to shuffle some glass away from where he'd lay prone. He chucked out his thermal mat, laid out his MCPR-300, and aligned it with muscle memory. Scope caps off. Suppressor attached. Wind meter clipped to the edge of a twisted beam. As he hunkered down, his core bracing, knee lifting a little, he tilted his cheek inwards and surveyed the street.
The rifle's scope brought the street below into razor-sharp focus. Cars rusted in place. A burnt out bus near a derelict park. There were a few civilians wandering the street, but they'd vanish the moment the sun set. It was too dangerous to be out at night, when vicious monsters hid in shadows.
Given who he was hunting, he updated his mental map of the operation: hostile QRF likely. He'd taken leave for this. Couldn't get the idea out of his head. The niggling feeling under his ribs that he had to do something. Anything. The only tools he had were violence and death, so that was where he had settled.
He stabilised his position, using his backpack as a makeshift tripod, and hunkered down for the wait. A spotting scope lay beside him, laser rangefinder synced to his wrist display. Heart rate: steady, despite a subtle tremor in the back of his mind. Breathing: shallow, controlled. He was built for this.
He watched. And he waited.
Eventually, the door opened as he had predicted. A tall, familiar figure with jet black hair stepped into the street. He wasn't in his trademark flight suit, nor the brown leather jacket Simon had become accustomed to over the last year and a half since the task force had formed. He was in a sharp black suit; no tie, gold chain glinting in the dark curls of his chest hair. Simon's tongue flicked out over his lower lip, catching the worn material of his mask. The bastard was so bloody arrogant.
The easy swagger was still there. The way he walked with his hips first, his shoulders back, like he owned the fuckin' place. Knowing Nikolai, he probably did. But it was harder, meaner. The broad, jovial grin he wore for Laswell and Price was gone. The man taking up the end of Simon's scope looked as austere and dangerous as any Russian mobster. And that was the truth of it, weren't it? That was why Simon was here. He'd seen through Nik to the reality of him. He was bad fuckin' news. Price didn't realise, not yet, but Simon would open his eyes.
Simon jammed his ear piece in and tapped the green icon on his phone. He watched Nik reach inside his jacket, the cross hairs hovering over his head, and the international dial tone cut short as he answered. "Da?"
"Bang."
Simon wasn't sure what he expected. Shock? Panic? Stupid, really. He should have known better. The smirk that uncurled over Nik's face was infuriating, and Simon's finger pressed hard above the trigger guard. "Lieutenant," Nik said, "how did you get this number?"
"State secret." Simon tried not to let the fact that Nik had identified him by a single syllable get under his skin.
"Of course." Nik was scoping out his perimeter. Simon could see his eyes scanning the streets, the doorways. "Can I buy you dinner?"
"Where? We're in a bloody warzone."
Nik rolled his shoulders in a shrug. "You know already where my Black Hawk is parked. Allow me to take us somewhere more... suitable."
Simon ground his teeth. It irked him that Nik wasn't more... alarmed. "'m not 'im, not so easily charmed, Nikolai. Came to warn you off."
"Warn me off?"
Simon swallowed. Hard. He drew in a slow breath; measured, so that Nik couldn't hear the tremor. "He's mine. I don' like sharin'. Never 'ave."
"I see." Nik was looking at the rooftops now, but his posture remained casual, relaxed. Like he didn't much mind being at the end of a sniper's scope. Like his life didn't balance in Simon's palm. "Is he aware of your claim?"
The true answer sat in the pause before Simon growled. "Don't matter."
"So that is no."
"Soon as he finds out what you are, really... You put on the act. Loyal pilot. But yer standin' there in yer posh suit, sellin' guns to people who'll use 'em on us later. Yer a crook, not even worth the shit on his shoe."
Nik huffed a laugh. His gaze turned towards Simon's building. "He has known me for twenty years. He knows what I do, who I sell to. He has seen me in all states of dress, and..." Nik's eyes travelled up the building and drilled right down the channel of Simon's scope as he said the next word, "...undress."
Simon's breath caught in his throat. His hesitation was like blood in the water to a shark. It was impossible for Nik to see him at this distance, but Simon felt pinned by those dark eyes none the less.
"Does it bother you, lieutenant? That he knows all of me and yet still opens his heart and his legs for me."
"Shut up..."
"Do you worry that if he were to know all of you, he would not do the same?"
"Shut the fuck up."
"Or perhaps, you are worried he would."
Simon's heart felt like it was trying to fight its way out of his plate carrier. The way Nik damn purred down the phone, his low voice unhurried, almost playful. Simon shifted his finger and for a heartbeat he was going to do it. Spread the contents of Nik's brain over that fire exit door.
Nik's eyes never moved, his posture relaxed, his smile light. He was damn handsome, with his dark stubble and broad shoulders. The way he took up the space around him, completely at ease in a devastated city riddled with the worst criminals, targeted by the scope of a veteran SAS sniper. "Are you still there, lieutenant?"
"Could do it and no one would ever know."
"If you were going to kill me, you would have done it the moment I left the building. You could not do that to him. You are too loyal. Sweet, like a puppy."
Simon hated that he was right. Again. "You ever get tired lookin' over your shoulder all the time?"
"I realised a long time ago that I did not have to look over my shoulder for my enemy's next move if I controlled the board."
"Don't seem like you do this time."
"The pawn is not privy to the strategy of the player."
"You arrogant cunt."
Nik's smile broadened. "You feel my confidence is unearned?"
Simon chewed on the inside of his cheek, shifted his hips against the gravel. Fuck, was that a...? Christ. Every year he found new levels of 'fucked in the head' to sink to. "Yeah."
"Hm. Shall we find out?"
No way. No fuckin' way did that bastard hang up. Simon watched him kiss the damn phone and wave it in Simon's direction before tucking it in his jacket. And then he walked away. Simon's hand creaked on the grip of his rifle and he seethed into his wrist.
He punched the concrete three times after pushing up from his chest, and then dropped his head into his stinging palm. Fuck. Fuck.
***
Nik dropped into the driver's seat of the low profile sedan he had rented for the occasion and groaned. His hand slid down his belly and over his belt to grasp the hard bulge of his cock, squeezing longingly. "Blyat..."
Simon was a wild thing. Barely tamed. Nik had taken a gamble and it had paid off, while confirming everything he had deduced since first encountering John's stoic lieutenant. The encounter had left Nik a little breathless with want. Simon was begging to be brought to bear; his gnashing teeth, his barking, it was all a show. A challenge.
Nik tapped the ignition and shifted the car into first, adjusting the rearview mirror to capture the building where the eagle had made his nest.
It would take patience, but Nik would have Simon as well as John. They yearned for each other anyway, trapped by and fearful of the parts of themselves they saw as broken. They were raw, vulnerable, so desperate to feel safe, to let their guard down and have someone take control. They just needed guiding in the right direction. By winter, Nik would have them both on their knees at his feet.

the trans community seems to have a big problem with unconsciously sorting people's transition amd bodies by percieved asab. even just ignoring that you naturally can have traits that dont align with you're assigned sex, not every trans person is trans because they want the "opposite" or hate how they are now.
people might not really transition medically and/or socially, they might be gender non-conforming, they may medically transition and still use tools like binders or tuckers for the stuff that they got because their dysphoria changes, people might get salmacian and nullification surgeries, etc. not every afab trans person wants to be "masculinized" nor ever amab trans person "feminized", and even then, feminization and masculinization look different for different people! and people need to know that that's okay :]
i've noticed it too, it's dangerous, but it can be overcome. people really do seem laser focused on figuring out what other people's assigned gender/sex at birth is and it's disturbing. people keep reinventing the binary over and over again finding new boxes to stuff people into when in reality that just goes against the very spirit of queer community. thanks for your input i really appreciate it

How obsessed and hyper-fixated are you with your fanfic characters?
Me:
BOOKBINDING!
Ominis and Phineas now sit on my shelf along with my other books ♡
This was my first time binding fanfic, and no better choice than my own, "Take Me To The Lakes" (AO3 / Wattpad)
update (March 30): New cover art by the amazing @rinthecap 🩵

More photos and the step-by-step after the cut! (+ the appendix with Taylor Swift songs in a stylised lyric book)
I'm all about my crafty hobbies. I've been eyeing bookbinding for a while, and the algorithm finally convinced me to dive into it so I'd have a reason to procrastinate on writing
Having written a shorter fic ("Lakes" is roughly 35k words) gave me the perfect opportunity to start with something simpler.
The main tutorial used is the one by NeatFreakGeek on Tiktok.
Step 1: The typeset
I used the base template file by NeatFreakGeek, which already had the settings for printing in formatted book signatures.
With the basic body of the document formatted and ready, I started the personalization: choosing the fonts, spacing, sizing etc.
For the quote at the beginning, I chose one of the lines I wrote for Ominis + the wisteria.
For chapter headers, I chose the Gemini constellation. (In the story, Ominis and Phineas got their middle names from the stars in the same constellation, Castor and Pollux.)
I also made the chapter titles with the HTV to give it an extra glow.
Sight is overrated. Phineas makes all my senses the very essence of life itself.

Since the story was rather "short", in order to have a thicker spine, I added an appendix with the stylised "lyric book". This was probably my favourite part of typesetting!

Step 2: The textblock
With a little lot of trial and error and more mathematics than expected, I printed each signature at a time, then folded each at a time, making sure it didn't get mixed up across the signatures. My printer does front/back automatically, but to print the commissioned arts as borderless, I gave myself a headache, printing it separately and manually. This step could have been done considerably faster with a laser printer and b&w content only :)
Next, it was sewing and glueing. I won't go into detail here because the video tutorials are way better at explaining. All in all, with the right tools, this was done rather easily and with barely any mistakes, so I didn't have to print anything again, thankfully.

Step 3: The endpapers
I got a scrapbook 12x12in block in this abstract colours. I had many different ideas on how to match the theme, but I ended up choosing these colourful patterns that align with how Ominis perceives the world. Then, I added the quotes from the story.
The endpaper of the front got this sky-like print to go with the dialogue Ominis and Phineas have when they are children.
P: How would you know what blue skies look like? O: I don't know. And I don't mind not knowing.
The endpaper of the back is in green x blue shades, colours that are also a big part of the story. For the quote, I chose one of their last lines when their relationship is established.
P: Ominis, you always care too much about the others... but who takes care of you? O: No one ever did. P: Let me care for you. Please. Let me love you, Ominis Gaunt. O: Will it make any difference if I say no? P: Absolutely not. O: Will it make any difference if I love you back? P: Fucking absolutely yes.

Step 4: The cover! (Yes, the most interesting part!)
This was the most challenging step in both the conception of the design (too many ideas to choose from) and the execution (I've never hated box cutters so much.)
With the basic cardboard casing cut and glued, I chose a faux leather material as a book cloth. This might be the choice I regret the most, because the glue it comes with is not that strong, so it would often unstick easily, and also, it's a bit too thick, leaving the corners a bit weird. But the final result was a bit worth it.
For the cover design, I printed the art with fabric HTV and ironed it on. On top of it, I threw in some wisteria petals (a reference to the song "the lakes", by Taylor Swift), and another quote of the story at the back.
I didn't have a cricut machine back then for the vynil pieces, so I ordered it online. This part was harder than I thought, once again because of the faux leather choice: as I ironed the HTV, some parts of the material melted lol.
Lastly, I decided last minute to create a clear dust jacket because the combination of the faux leather + printed HTV seemed tro fragile to be handled. I liked the final result, but ironing the HTV on the acetate was a pain lol.

In summary, this was so much fun and not as hard as I expected, craft-wise. The designing of it all took the most time just because I wanted every little detail to have a meaning :)
I made two copies to gift one to a friend, so it gave me the opportunity to make the first one and mess it up, then, for the second one, I had already learned from my mistakes.
There are many things I'd do differently for my next binds, but that's the most fun part: experimenting with materials, themes, and processes.
#I have a lot of free time#In crafts we trust#now I'm even more motivated to finish my other fics just so I can print them#my family asked for a copy now I don't know how to explain that I won't let them read my fic in a million years#hogwarts legacy#ominis gaunt#ominis gaunt fanfic#ominis x mmc#book binding#bookbinding#fanfic binding#gay fanfiction#gay#lgbtqia

You know, I really wasn’t expecting Broker vs Handler beef this season, but I adore the way the comparison between the remote and the whistle really highlights the difference between these two badass women with raptors
So, the laser. The laser is a sleek and elegant tool for a sleek and elegant character, one who lives in the upper crust of society and who projects an image in alignment with that, down to what she wears and what tools she carries. Soyona Santos, aka the Broker, can’t really be seen carrying a whistle; it just doesn’t fit her aesthetic. Instead she needed something that doesn’t draw the eye, can be camouflaged in the form of her jewellery. And while she’s clearly comfortable and relaxed around Red while she has control, that disappears the moment she doesn’t. The laser indicates a certain distance between her and the animal she is directing, an artificial bond, bringing to mind more a remote and a machine. While she is the one to make the comment, “Amazing, the control you can have over these creatures when you really take the time to earn it,” she doesn’t strike me as the kind of woman who would spend the time and effort required to train Red herself. No, that job seems more like it would belong to the Handler
So, the whistle, which belongs to the Raptor Handler, who in comparison to her boss, wears overalls and combat boots, a utilitarian whistle around her neck. Her aesthetic, even when out on the job, could not be more different than Soyona Santos’s. The whistle doesn’t seem to lock the raptors onto a target at the exclusion of all else, but it allows the Handler to adapt in real time, to direct or redirect them as needed, to communicate to her animals even when they can’t see her. The whistle brings to my mind farmers and sheepdogs, and the easy synergy between man and beast who understand one another deeply. The Handler is at ease with the raptors even when not actively “controlling” them; it seems the bond she has with them is genuine, not artificial and relying on the control of a remote, and we see this in the physical affection she shows them and her concern for their well-being
So the whistle, whilst not as fancy looking as the remote, is a flexible, practical tool that suits the needs of a woman who is less interested in appearances and more focused on her animals, but also suggests a more genuine and intimate relationship with them. Meanwhile the Broker uses a tool that both suits the image of stylish upper class authority that she projects, but also suggests a distance and an artificial element to her relationship with the very same raptors

The Great Pyramid of Khufu harbors a mystery that often goes unspoken among historians and archaeologists. It is universally acknowledged that the pyramid comprises approximately 2,400,000 rock blocks, each weighing between 2 and 70 tonnes (4,400 to 154,000 pounds). These blocks were placed with extraordinary precision, with a margin of error of only 1 centimeter (0.39 inches) at the base and an alignment deviation of merely 1 degree to the north—a level of accuracy achievable today only with laser-guided technology. However, the astounding precision of the pyramid's construction is not the central mystery. Nor is the focus on the methods of transporting these massive blocks. The critical question is: how long did it take to build the pyramid? If Egyptian workers managed to cut, transport, and place one block each day, it would have taken 6,575 years to complete the Great Pyramid (2,400,000 blocks divided by 365 days per year). This timeline suggests that construction would have started around 9,000 B.C., far earlier than the commonly accepted date of around 2,500 B.C., when the pyramid is said to have been completed in just 10 years. To finish the pyramid in a decade, workers would have needed to cut, transport, and place one block every minute during 10-hour workdays. This implies an unimaginable efficiency: 1 block every 60 seconds, continuously for 10 years. Considering the tools of the time, primarily soft copper and the absence of the wheel, this scenario seems implausible.

How to Become the Perfect Man in 2035
In the bustling, high-tech corridors of a futuristic hospital in 2035, an 18-year-old man, fit and brimming with vitality, walks through the doors for the last time on his own two legs. Today, he elects to undergo a double above-knee (DAK) amputation, a procedure that will redefine his existence. Under the glow of advanced surgical lights, he is placed under general anesthesia as the team begins. Precise incisions are made mid-thigh, guided by 3D imaging, severing muscles, nerves, and blood vessels with meticulous care. The femurs are cut cleanly at 20 cm from the hips using laser-assisted tools, ensuring symmetry and a smooth surface for healing. Bleeding is controlled with bioengineered hemostatic agents, and the remaining muscles are sculpted to form optimal stumps before the skin is sutured, leaving two long scars. Within six hours, he awakens in a recovery room, his thighs swollen and tightly bandaged with smart dressings that adapt to his healing needs. Over the next few months, through AI-supported rehabilitation, he transitions from wheelchairs to optional cybernetic enhancements, emerging as a pioneer of a new masculine ideal in 2035—freed from the burdens of legs and ready to embrace a liberated future.
The Crushing Cons of Keeping Your Legs
Let’s face it: legs are a liability. For all their evolutionary hype, they come with a laundry list of problems that plague even the healthiest among us. Knee issues are practically inevitable—cartilage wears down, leading to osteoarthritis, while repetitive strain invites tendonitis or ligament tears. Tendons themselves are ticking time bombs; Achilles ruptures and shin splints haunt runners and casual walkers alike. Then there’s the feet: a nightmare of orthopedic woes. Bunions twist toes into painful knots, plantar fasciitis stabs with every step, and flat feet or high arches throw off your entire body’s alignment. These aren’t rare afflictions—they’re the norm for anyone relying on legs day after day.
Beyond the physical toll, legs are exhausting. Walking burns through energy at a staggering rate—studies show the average person expends 100-200 calories per mile, a constant drain that saps vitality. Standing for hours? That’s even worse, taxing muscles and joints while blood pools in your lower extremities, leaving you fatigued. Climbing stairs, dodging crowds, or just getting through a long day—legs demand a relentless effort that feels increasingly outdated in a world of efficiency. In 2035, where technology promises liberation from such burdens, why cling to a pair of flawed, tiring appendages?
Why Gay Men Should Embrace DAK Amputations
For gay men, the case for DAK amputations with symmetrical 20 cm stumps is even more compelling—it’s a revolution in both form and function. The 20 cm length isn’t random; it mirrors the world average penis size (around 13-15 cm erect, with stumps extending slightly beyond for symmetry), creating a balanced, harmonious physique that resonates on a deeply personal level. But the real game-changer lies in sexual dynamics. Legs, for all their supposed utility, are a hindrance in the bedroom. During anal sex, they get in the way—awkwardly positioned, limiting flexibility, and restricting access whether you’re giving or receiving. Remove them, and the body transforms. The spread and shape of DAK stumps—firm, symmetrical, and unobstructed—offer unparalleled versatility. They provide natural leverage and support, enhancing comfort and creativity for both partners, turning intimacy into an art form unencumbered by clumsy limbs.
Picture this: it’s 2035, and gay men who’ve chosen DAK amputations are the vanguard of a new masculinity. Free from the orthopedic nightmares of knees and feet, they conserve energy once wasted on walking, redirecting it to pursuits of passion and intellect. Their 20 cm stumps, healed and sculpted, are both a aesthetic triumph and a functional marvel—celebrated in a culture that prizes bold reinvention. Rehabilitation, powered by 2035’s advancements, is swift and seamless: smart prosthetics or sleek mobility aids integrate effortlessly, offering options without the baggage of biological legs. Sexually, they’re liberated, their bodies optimized for pleasure and connection in ways legs could never allow.
This is the perfect man—not bound by tradition, but shaped by choice. In a world racing toward innovation, DAK amputation isn’t a loss; it’s a leap forward. For gay men, it’s the key to shedding the past’s burdens and stepping—or rolling—into a future where perfection is yours to define.

"How now shall we live?"
First steps towards an effective resistance.
What was good and true and right the day before the election remains good and true and right today, and no mass delusion or wrong choice by a misguided and ill-informed majority changes that truth.
A revival of the Resistance movement is starting to stir online and in the real world; resolve is beginning to coalesce among people of goodwill. I would favor an approach designed to prevent the POS from taking office at all, but since Kamala's come out in favor of a boring old peaceful transition (dang it!), a different strategy is called for.
The best ideas I've seen are variations on finding ways to thwart the POS and his gang of idiots at every turn using every tool we have available to us, and I think that’s going to be our way forward.
But for us to have a chance at effective resistance at scale, resolve and energy and a united effort on the LGBTQ+ side and other parts of our “coalition of the good” will be required in abundance to sustain long-term resistance and disruption of the plans and actions of this Administration that are clearly designed to injure and harm us in a multitude of ways; many of us have been put on notice that we’re targets, and the level of fear and uncertainty of our safety is off the charts – something America has not had to contend with in hundreds of years.
What could an effective, robust, muscular resistance look like in our current moment? Well, I have thoughts. Stay with me here, I have specifics to lay out for you, but there are some words to climb - beautiful words, all the best words, strong men with tears in their eyes come to me and say - (continued after the jump)
It begins with individual resolve, and continues by engaging with others. This is not the time to isolate, to stay solo: we need to connect. No self-lockdowns or heads in the sand or hiding under the covers!
It's not important to have a fully fleshed-out game plan at this point. It's important that we view things as they are and discern the next right thing to do. We need to make sure that we walk in the light, that we stay aligned with what we know is right. If we allow darkness or corrupt motives into what we do, we will fail. (This is getting slightly on the woo-woo side of things, but I view it as fundamental to our success.)
Light is a funny thing: it dispels darkness, it provides safety, it guides us through rough waters and difficult pathways, but in concentrated form it can be a laser that slices someone's arm off, and it can give you skin cancer if you're outdoors without sunscreen.
Lucifer, after all, is the Angel of Light, as his name in Latin will tell you - and this activist and spiritual warrior of four decades will tell you that each step we take needs to be effective, morally justifiable, and targeted so that collateral damage is minimized. MAGAs bludgeon with indiscriminate blunderbusses and misshapen cudgels; we wield stilettos, trip wires, keenly aimed photon grenades into unprotected garbage vents.
I am convinced that we will endure, survive, even thrive, and in the end prevail.
This will be the most difficult effort of our lives to date, individually and collectively, and the stakes could not be higher.
We do not yet know the shape and form of the perils in store. What is already apparent, though, is the wanton cruelty and brazen sadism of our enemies now unfurled at full mast, as the vile stench of the devious, depraved methods they’re devising to inflict maximum misery wafts towards us.
They have not been shy or coy in communicating their plans and intentions, and they’ve been gleefully bragging about the methods, implements, tools, and techniques they intend to employ to bring their dark and nihilistic vision into reality.
They are, almost literally, and with the full-throated exhortations of their Christian Nationalist religious auxiliaries and avatars and “prophets,” bringing Armageddon from the fever dreams of St. John out of antiquity and into our real world. For the first time since September 11th, humanity will encounter pure unadulterated evil in ways we can see, hear, feel, taste, smell, made corporeal, physical, inescapable, and we will have to contend with it face to face.
Right now, I'm not advocating leaving the country, but our trans friends in particular will need to have resources and safe pathways to move to sanctuary cities and states. We need to throw our support behind organizations that can effectively and responsibly move people out of danger, and if those orgs don't exist, we need to create them.
I'd intended to retire from activism post-election, but I've changed my plans. I'm here for the long haul.
We are not fools. We know what we see. We know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, what destroys and what uplifts.
And when we behave accordingly, with smarts and courage and clarity of intent and spirit, we can from time to time do some real good in this world.
Of course, progress comes in fits and starts, and this is a scary time no matter how grown-up we are, but we've got to be brave enough to live and to fight for what’s right, even when all we can see is darkness.
Remember, you are not alone, and we are finding ways to support you when you reach out.
~~~
All these words, Animal, I hear you saying. All these lofty thoughts, all this cheerleading, and you haven’t given us one damn thing to do about this. Do you actually have a plan? Or even a concept of a plan?
Well…the first thing to do is engage.
Staying solo won't help. Human contact is key right now, for the cause, and for our own spirits. Do not isolate.
There are already gatherings and organizations ramping up and calls for zoom meetups and in-person actions. Monitor your socials, keep your eyes and ears open, and you will find a place or places where your help will be uniquely well fitted.
Look at your communities, the people and places that make up the fabric of your daily life and walk, and you will find many dynamic and determined people from all backgrounds and age groups who are ready to do something now.
You may want to consider starting something yourself, first as a mutual encouragement effort among friends, and then as the weeks go by and you see what's coming down the pike, develop counter-actions with the group you've got. Feel free to reach out to me for ideas and advice and encouragement and shoulder to cry on and everything and anything you can imagine. I'm not going anywhere.
~~~
I’ve been thinking about a time many years ago, when I was a young hotheaded activist in local politics here in San Francisco, and a friend said something that rewrote my world:
I was pissed off after our election for Mayor went the wrong way - the former police chief beat the progressive incumbent after running on an anti-gay platform during the height of AIDS.
I was riding with a friend of mine, older than me and definitely wiser, who was a longtime student at the San Francisco Zen Center (perhaps an aspirant or acolyte? He lived there and was more than a novice for sure).
As I growled and seethed in the passenger seat, my friend said to me, quietly and calmly,
“Ram Dass had an expression for moments like these: ‘How now shall we live?’”
I was dumbstruck. Just like that, the scales fell and I got it.
To answer the challenge of “How now shall we live?” is to open our eyes with maximum clarity, in the light of day, and see with truth and courage the reality we see around us in this moment, unvarnished, unobstructed, uncompromising, to take a comprehensive and authentic look at and accounting of our world as it is -
and based on the truth of what we see, do the next right thing – it could be a small act or a large task, affecting just one person or situation or many, to make contact with someone or to repair a broken hinge or to run for office, it will have a million variations but as you think on this and give it focus your next right task will present itself to you, unique to you.
And when that task is done, that thing accomplished, repeat the process and do the next right thing, and the next one, and the next right thing after that, until it becomes second nature, it becomes part of your daily walk through life.
I have seen the positive effects of this approach in my own life and in the lives of others, and I’m not here to lie to you. It’s simple, it’s clear, it’s grounded in our true nature, and it yields positive results that make a tangible difference soon enough that you can begin to trust the process and build on your results.
I intend to make this approach my primary tool for effective resistance and sustained activism against this rotten, misbegotten Administration, and I hope that others will take all or part of this approach and integrate it into their own work as individuals and in their group efforts as well. It’s effective, it’s not complicated, and it gets results.
In this way, we can begin to make things right, and I am convinced that by doing the next right thing, consistently, with focus and intention, with care and clear intent, with enough of us using this approach and taking it to heart, we will drive back, disrupt, thwart, spoil, deflect, defang and defeat the plans and intentions of The Liar Donald Trump and his pack of slavering billionaires, enablers, enforcers, worshippers, and followers.
This fight is worth fighting. They do not have the right to disrupt our lives and our families and our freedom to live as we see fit, and there is nothing about supporting a victorious politician that grants them that power or the license to come waltzing in, order us around, and haul us off to some internment camp built by their construction cronies for kickbacks. ~~~ How now shall we live?
We shall live in ways and acts that reflect our true nature, which rise from the best in each of us.
We shall live in ways and acts that bring positive effects to our lives and the lives of others, that protect the vulnerable, the sick and the disabled,
that rebuke and repel the presence and actions of those who want to injure us, imprison us, strip us of our rights and dignity and humanity,
that renew and restore the basic decency and goodness of heart that has been missing from too many of us for too long.
We shall live with our heads held high, with strength and purpose and focus, with clear intent and forward motion and love for ourselves and for each other and for our world,
We shall live with joy in the present and real hope for the future.
And here, and now, we shall not lose heart.
We are brave enough and strong enough to fight for what we treasure in this world.
We know what matters. We know what to do.
We will fight, and we will win.
Don’t forget to breathe!

Origin of supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*
The origins of aptly named supermassive black holes – which can weigh in at more than a million times the mass of the sun and reside in the center of most galaxies – remain one of the great mysteries of the cosmos.
Now, researchers from the Nevada Center for Astrophysics at UNLV (NCfA) have discovered compelling evidence suggesting that the supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy, known as Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), is likely the result of a past cosmic merger.
The study, published Sept. 6 in the journal Nature Astronomy, builds on recent observations from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), which captured the first direct image of Sgr A* in 2022. The EHT, the result of a global research collaboration, syncs data from eight existing radio observatories worldwide to create a massive, Earth-sized virtual telescope.
UNLV astrophysicists Yihan Wang and Bing Zhang utilized the data from the EHT observation of Sgr A* to look for evidence on how it may have formed. Supermassive black holes are thought to grow either by the accretion of matter over time, or by the merger of two existing black holes.
The UNLV team investigated various growth models to understand the peculiar rapid spin and misalignment of Sgr A* relative to the Milky Way’s angular momentum. The team demonstrated that these unusual characteristics are best explained by a major merger event involving Sgr A* and another supermassive black hole, likely from a satellite galaxy.
“This discovery paves the way for our understanding of how supermassive black holes grow and evolve,” said Wang, the lead author of the study and an NCfA postdoctoral fellow at UNLV. “The misaligned high spin of Sgr A* indicates that it may have merged with another black hole, dramatically altering its amplitude and orientation of spin.”
Using sophisticated simulations, the researchers modeled the impact of a merger, considering various scenarios that align with the observed spin properties of Sgr A*. Their results indicate that a 4:1 mass ratio merger with a highly inclined orbital configuration could reproduce the spin properties observed by the EHT.
“This merger likely occurred around 9 billion years ago, following the Milky Way’s merger with the Gaia-Enceladus galaxy,” said Zhang, a distinguished professor of physics and astronomy at UNLV and the founding director of the NCfA. “This event not only provides evidence of the hierarchical black hole merger theory but also provides insights into the dynamical history of our galaxy.”
Sgr A* sits at the center of the galaxy more than 27,000 light years away from Earth, and sophisticated tools like the EHT provide direct imaging that helps scientists put predictive theories to the test.
Researchers say that the findings from the study will have significant implications for future observations with upcoming space-borne gravitational wave detectors, such as the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA), which is planned to launch in 2035 and is expected to detect similar supermassive black hole mergers across the universe.

short 600 word fic for Maroon the Cat(X) I wrote that I enjoy. I kind of became an instantaneous fan of him in the span of 24 hours, thus all the posts about him, but maybe others will enjoy him as well.
-
Maroon stumbled into his room, rubbing his bruised arm as he did. He was utterly exhausted from his fight with Sonic and Blaze, but needed to tend to himself first. A few of his robotic parts seemed to be falling out of alignment. Nothing that his father, Eggman Nega, couldn’t fix. And yet, he didn’t want the old man to be privy to all the damage he had taken, to the degree of his shortcomings. He knew a bit of robotics himself, and would do what he could to repair things on his own.
The cyborg cat shuffled over to a bench lined with tools, grabbing a few of the essentials, before retreating to his bed. Plopping down on the blankets, he set to working at the weapon that made up the end of his left arm, a laser gun. As he did, his thoughts wandered to the fight before. A few things about it weren’t sitting right with him.
Eggman Nega had been the only father Maroon knew for most of his life. The scientist had done him the service of saving him after being abandoned by his birth-parents, Sonic and Blaze. This much he had known for several years now. At least it was what Nega had told him. And yet, the way Sonic and Blaze seemed shocked at seeing him felt odd. ‘If they left me for dead, it must be a shock to see I survived’ he thought to himself. And yet that didn’t explain everything. Something in their eyes looked so.. Pained. Were they simply loathe to see him? Were they disgusted with his mechanical upgrades, believing him to be a crime against nature?
Maroon’s hand froze amidst turning a screwdriver. ‘What if.. They missed me?’ The thought hit him like a bucket of ice water pouring over him. ‘No. No that wouldn’t make sense, that--’ and yet he couldn’t shake the thought’s possibility now that it had materialized. Against his will, his mind raced in this line of thought as he sat stunned. ‘What if they didn’t abandon me? What if they actually wanted me but didn’t know I was alive? What if they still care about me all these years later?” He could feel his throat tighten as the thoughts threatened to overwhelm him. His eyes drifted up and he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He could see a tear now making it’s way down the right side of his face. The left side remained dry, his electronic eye unable to produce water.
He took in the sight of his form. Whatever of him that resembled Blaze and Sonic was now broken up by metal casing, bits of hinges and wires, bolts and power drives. Pieces born of Doctor Eggman Nega’s hand. The image sent his thoughts crashing down. They’d never care for this. He wasn’t theirs. A sense of anger and shame washed over him for having all these thoughts. What was he doing? He was Eggman Nega’s prized son, his greatest soldier! He had been lucky the genius doctor took him in! Lucky to have these marvelous enhancements to make him stronger! His hand gripped the screwdriver tighter, and with a shout he flung it at his wall. The tool thudded on the plaster, leaving a dull scratch, before clattering to the floor.
His spiked tail twitched and he fumed to himself, laying back on the bed. Fatigue from the battle hit him and dragged him down into the mattress. His mind swiftly and unwillingly slowed to a crawl as he began to drift into sleep. Perhaps his self-repairs could wait until later. And when he was back in fighting condition, he would be sure to take down Sonic and Blaze next time. He would wipe the looks right off their faces, he would. He’d show them..

Custom Prints: How to Choose Printers That Align with Your Architectural Needs

In the architecture industry, the quality of printed materials significantly impacts the presentation and execution of projects. Various printing technologies are available to meet these needs. How can architects ensure they choose the right printer that aligns perfectly with their requirements? This challenge is crucial for maintaining high standards in architectural work.
This guide will help you steer the options available, highlighting the critical factors to consider. Selecting the ideal printer for architectural uses involves understanding the different types of plotters and their capabilities. Each type offers distinctive benefits depending on the specific needs of your projects.
Understanding Plotter Printers
They are indispensable in architecture because they can handle large-format prints essential for detailed architectural drawings and blueprints. These produce crisp, high-resolution images on large paper sizes, crucial for detailed work. When choosing a plotter, it’s essential to consider the types available:
Pen plotters use pens to draw on paper. They are great for high precision but generally slower than their modern counterparts.
The Inkjet plotter’s spray ink allows for a broader range of colours and faster output. They are suited for both high-quality presentations and standard drafts.
Laser Printers for Fast Outputs
Laser printers might be the way to go for architects needing quicker print jobs for client meetings or internal reviews. These are not typically used for large format prints but are excellent for smaller, high-volume tasks where speed is critical. They deliver fast and reliable outputs, although with a slight compromise on the fine detail that plotters can achieve.
Key Features to Consider
Resolution and Quality
The resolution of a printer dictates the clarity and detail of the printed document. High-resolution printers are essential in architecture because they ensure that every line and detail of the sketches and plans is visible and clear. Generally, a higher DPI (dots per inch) rating indicates better resolution.
Speed and Efficiency
Time is often a constraint in project deliveries, making a printer’s speed another vital consideration. However, the choice should carefully balance speed and quality, as some fast printers may sacrifice detail for quicker output. Evaluate its speed in the context of typical project sizes and deadlines.
Media Handling
Architectural printing often requires different media types, ranging from thick card stocks to glossy-finish papers for high-quality presentations. Ensure the printer can handle the diversity of media you use in your practice. Check for the maximum and minimum paper sizes and whether the printer supports roll-fed or sheet-fed options.
Cost Considerations
Initial Investment vs. Long-Term Costs
Printers come with varying price tags; often, higher-priced models offer greater versatility and quality. However, the ongoing operating costs, such as ink or toner, maintenance, and paper, must be considered. A cheaper one can lead to higher long-term expenses due to inefficient ink usage or frequent maintenance needs.
Ink or Toner Expenses
Depending on the type, the ink or toner cost can significantly affect the overall cost of ownership. Plotters typically use ink, which can be pricey, especially if it is inefficient. On the other hand, toner used in laser printers might be less expensive per page, especially for high-volume printing.
Connectivity and Software Integration
Ease of Use and Compatibility
A printer’s compatibility with existing architectural software is crucial in today’s digital-focused workflow. Seamlessly integrating with software like AutoCAD, Revit, or other design tools can streamline the printing process, reducing errors and saving time.
Network Connectivity
Consider printers with built-in network capabilities that allow multiple users to access it across the office network. Wireless printing and cloud capabilities are additional features that enhance flexibility, enabling you to print from various devices or even remotely.
Environmental Impact
Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
With an improving focus on sustainability in architecture, the environmental impact of your office equipment should be noticed. Look for printers with energy-saving features and those that meet environmental standards like ENERGY STAR. Additionally, consider the ones that offer features like automatic duplex printing to save on paper.
Making the Right Choice
Choosing the right printer involves weighing various factors, from print quality and speed to cost and environmental impact. By understanding the specific demands of your architectural projects and how different printers meet those needs, you can select a printer that fits your budget and enhances your firm’s productivity and output quality. The right one becomes invaluable in bringing architectural visions to life, ensuring every print reflects the precision and detail your projects deserve.
By considering the detailed needs of your practice—including the different types of plotters available—you can choose a printer that not only meets but enhances your professional output. A well-chosen one will serve as a reliable tool that supports your creative process, ensures high standards are maintained, and ultimately contributes to the satisfaction of your clients. Invest wisely, and your chosen printer will prove integral to the precision and efficiency of your architectural endeavours.

5 Common Mistakes in Chakra Healing You Need to Avoid
Chakra healing is a powerful practice that can transform your life from the inside out. Let’s explore five common mistakes that many individuals make when it comes to chakra healing. Here’s How you can begin to enhance your Chakra Healing journey. I’m a big advocate for Consistency. Why? It not only helps me spiritually grow but it gets me results!
One area I’ve been consistent beyond spiritual practice has been my journey with the chakra Healing system. I’ve learned a lot over the years about how to properly understand energy work through Chakra Healing.
However, just like any new ager out there, there are a lot of mistakes I’ve learned over the years. After 13-14 years on this healing path, I’ve personally refined my chakra strategy so I always get incredible results.
I wanted to share some common mistakes that many people are making when it comes to energy work and the chakras that they might not be realizing.
#5 is def my soap box I will admit LOL
But In general – these are mistakes I’ve personally gone through and eventually realized there are stronger tools out there to help you heal easier. Likewise, in some cases even faster!
2 hour + somatic breathwork? Not remotely Necessary when you’re dealing with the chakras.
Here’s my tips and tricks on Chakra Healing to help you avoid these common Mistakes I see continuously in the spiritual community.

SUMMARY OF THE FIVE COMMON CHAKRA HEALING MISTAKES
1 – You’re Using Surface-Level Tools to Solve an Internal Problem
Ever caught yourself getting lost in a sea of crystals, essential oils, and sage, hoping they’ll magically fix your energy imbalances? While these tools are fantastic for boosting your vibes, they’re like the sparkly cherry on top. One common mistake in chakra healing is relying solely on surface-level tools like crystals and oils without going deeper into the root cause of energetic imbalances. While these tools can help aid in the process, (I call these amplifiers because they amplify the energy of that chakra) true healing occurs when we address the core issues within each chakra.
2 – Thinking That you ONLY need Yoga Asanas and Color Therapy
If you’ve been hanging your hopes on wearing specific colors, Eating certain foods or striking yoga poses to heal your chakras, hey, you’re not alone! Another misconception is the overemphasis on yoga asanas and color therapy as the primary methods for chakra healing. While these practices can complement healing, they should not overshadow the importance of addressing Your Beliefs behind your Mindset, Your Internal Programming, Emotional Health and internal energetic frequency for lasting transformation. It’s about balance, yo 😉
3 – Confusing Chakra Healing and Reiki as the same thing. Spoiler Alert: It’s not
Reiki Healing and Chakra healing are completely different methods. It’s like comparing apples and oranges – both juicy and delicious, but with their unique flavors. While Reiki casts a broad energetic net for overall alignment, chakra healing zooms in like a laser beam on your individual energy centers. For Example, Reiki focuses more on healing the energetic field with symbols, chakra healing delves deep into individual energetic centers, providing a more targeted approach to addressing specific issues within the energy system. Chakra Healing also works specifically with your unique programming and Patterns that are looping in your nervous system.
4 – Listening to Sound Frequencies and Meditations to Heal – Yet Avoiding the inner work
Here’s the thing, sound frequencies and meditations can enhance your chakra healing journey, but they should not be the sole focus. It’s important to enhance these practices with adding internal work on Your Energetic Patterns. For Example, working on your Internal State of Consciousness surrounding your emotions, mindset, and habits to facilitate sustainable healing results.
5 – Only Focusing on Releasing and Clearing Work – Nothing Else.
Let’s chat about the shadow-side of healing – a vital but often overemphasized piece of the puzzle. While diving into your shadows is important, The real healing is when you empower your chakras. A key aspect of effective chakra healing is empowering the chakras through repatterning. This is the deep work we do inside The Ultimate Chakra Academy Simply releasing negative energies or even Shadow patterns is not enough; true healing occurs when we replace old patterns with new, empowering beliefs and behaviors.
Why are people not able to properly heal?
When we only do releasing work, we’re not actually shifting and changing the pattern. And what happens instead is it reverts. The entire pattern starts to revert and come back! Have you ever had that happen? This causes the entire script to change. (and maybe you lost money from that, all the same, right?)
Avoiding the Real Internal Work to Truly Heal
The hugest thing I want to emphasize here is you notice, all these mistakes aren’t actually working on your emotions or your patterns. They’re kind of, bypassing those emotions. Naturally, they’re energy tools, they help, but they’re not working with the emotion. If the tool does not work with the negative pattern or the emotion itself, Then it’s just like an amplifier. Instead, When we work with a Chakra, we’re opening up the Energy pattern that makes up your beliefs, emotions, actions, and even working on the habits that keep the pattern going.
We’re not looking at the actual programming itself. We’re not looking at the actual pattern or the framework of the pattern. We’re instead bypassing that and using different tools to try to access it. Chakra healing makes up a pattern. If you want to raise your vibe, heal, or manifest? Change the Energy Pattern, Change the Results.
In conclusion,
By avoiding these common mistakes and approaching chakra healing with an Empowering mindset, you can unlock the transformative power of this unique practice. Remember, true healing begins from within, and each step you take towards nurturing your chakras brings you closer to manifesting your best life. ✌️

Why do some car manufacturers make it extremely difficult to change a headlight bulb, sometimes requiring a trip to the dealership?
Why Some Car Manufacturers Make Headlight Bulb Replacement Difficult Replacing headlight bulbs in modern vehicles can feel like navigating an engineering maze, often requiring specialized tools or dealership intervention. This complexity stems from design priorities, regulatory compliance, and advanced technology integration. Below are the key reasons and their implications:
Advanced Lighting Systems
Modern vehicles increasingly use adaptive headlights (e.g., auto-leveling, cornering beams) and integrated LED arrays or laser modules instead of traditional bulbs. These systems are tightly controlled by onboard computers and sensors. For example: Adaptive Headlights: Adjust brightness and direction based on steering input or road conditions. Even minor misalignment can disrupt the entire system, requiring recalibration with proprietary software.
Integrated LED/Laser Modules: Often soldered into sealed assemblies rather than using replaceable bulbs. Replacing them may necessitate swapping the entire headlight unit.
Engineering and Aesthetic Trade-offs
Manufacturers prioritize sleek, aerodynamic designs and compact packaging, which often result in tightly packed engine bays and headlight housings: Space Constraints: Headlights may be fused with grilles, fenders, or bumper components. Accessing the bulb might require removing the wheel well liner, battery, or air filter housing.
Proprietary Fasteners: Custom clips or screws demand specialized tools, discouraging DIY repairs.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety Standards
Strict homologation rules (e.g., SAE, ECE) mandate precise beam patterns, brightness, and alignment. To ensure compliance: Tamper-Proof Designs: Manufacturers discourage aftermarket modifications by sealing systems or using non-standard components. Non-OEM parts risk failing inspections or causing glare hazards.
Self-Leveling Requirements: Adaptive headlights must maintain proper alignment with the road, which can only be reset via dealership diagnostics.
Profit and Service Model
Dealerships and certified repair shops benefit from locked-in servicing: Software Dependencies: Adaptive systems require proprietary diagnostic tools (e.g., OEM scanners) to reset error codes or recalibrate sensors.
Warranty Control: Manufacturers may void warranties if non-certified technicians attempt repairs, steering owners to dealerships.
Safety and Durability Considerations
Sealed Assemblies: Protect sensitive electronics from moisture and dust, ensuring longevity and UV resistance.
Electrical Complexity: Modern bulbs (e.g., HID, LED) require precise voltage regulation. Incorrect handling can damage the vehicle’s electrical system or reduce bulb lifespan.
Key Takeaways Factor Impact on DIY Replacement Advanced Tech Requires calibration tools and software Regulatory Compliance Tamper-resistant designs Aesthetic Design Tight packaging limits access Service Incentives Encourages dealership dependency
Advice for Owners: Consult Manuals: Some models allow bulb access via hidden panels.
Invest in Professional Help: For adaptive or laser systems, dealerships ensure compliance and safety.
Avoid Aftermarket Modifications: Non-homologated parts risk fines or accidents.
While frustrating, these design choices reflect a balance between innovation, safety, and market dynamics. For complex systems, dealerships remain the safest (if pricier) option.
