Minecraft as a Canvas: Art Education Revolutionized
By Ariel Have you ever looked at a painting and thought, I could totally make that in Minecraft!? Well, guess what? You absolutely can! Minecraft isn’t just about mining diamonds or battling mobs—it’s a giant digital canvas where you can explore color, design, and creativity in ways that even some professional artists do! In this post, I’ll show you how Minecraft can be used to teach art and…

my dad used to play a lot of minecraft. he played on the same world for maybe like 10 years.
i have vague memories of his various bases - a massive cave, some weird cobblestone hell - but he eventually settled on a glass platform surrounded by farms (i think he had one of those really old wither based tree farms) suspended above an absolutely fucking massive pit down to bedrock. like this pit was collosally fucking huge. and every day he would just. widen the pit. id come home from school and go to his office to tell him about my day and he'd just be digging that pit with an inventory of diamond pickaxes. no beacons because he hated fighting the wither.
only once did i ask him why. and he just shrugged. and kept digging that pit.
this was all on 1.8 as well. 1.9 came out, he tried it. died to a skeleton and immediately went back to 1.8. he wrote a script to back up his saves, and when i asked him for it he used this as an opportunity to teach me how to write batch files.
anyway. couple years ago i bought him factorio. possibly one of the best gifts ive ever bought. shits like crack cocaine to him. now i look into his office and he's optimizing production lines. had to buy him the dlc. he reached the edge of the solar system today. 1 monitor dedicated to this game at all times. constantly running even when hes away. sometimes i leave little concrete wall smiley faces. he finds them instantly because the factory is an extension of his soul. never removes them just builds around.
anyway i think this explains why im like this.

Still fascinated by how much hate Mitsi gets for the whole "dead fem-coded loved one backstory" thing and all the hangups surrounding that when Purple's mom is arguably a much more egregious instance of the thing everyone is upset about Mitsi for but she ultimately got a pass because...idk, she was The First?
#animator vs animation#animation vs minecraft#avm shorts#avm#ava 11#ava11#this is me analyzing the fandom as much as it's me analyzing the actual series#idk maybe I'm missing something but I just#find it interesting that Mitsi gets all the vitriol seemingly just because she's the newest example#because when you look she's not the worst example at all#and part of me thinks that there's some underlying misunderstanding here#like. I get that everyone's mad she got fridged.#but the way some folks talk it's like they think her dying was her only contribution to the story#and that's not the case at all#she has so much more going on than Purple's mom did#she's a narrative foil and a character foil. she serves a thematic purpose as well as a plot one.#it's because of her that Victim was able to connect with anyone else. he loses touch with their community once she's gone.#Rocket was her idea! it exists because she wanted it to!#and now when we look back at the last two episodes we can see her haunting the narrative#we only learn enough about Gold and about Purple's Mom to make us sad for King and for Purple when they die#but we don't really miss them ourselves#because they don't really exist outside of King's and Purple's pasts#Mitsi feels so much better integrated because she exists in the story as more than just part of Victim's story#and her influence on the story doesn't end with her death#but it feels like people believe that her dying for Victim's backstory negates everything else she does for the story#and that's the only thing they see#but I'm wondering if she's the target of everyone's upset not just because she's the third backstory-death#and not just because she's only the second overtly fem-coded character and both died in their introductory episodes#but because there WAS more to her...so people are upset that she STILL died for someone else's story?#maybe

If coding existed in minecraft (think fic that is set in minecraft) would it be based on java or would it be a more complex form of redstone?

desperately hunger for a minecraft world type:
-deeper range caves. hundreds of blocks below the surface. you really get lost (knowing that anything below what we currently have will only spawn lava caves, just increase the gen for sea level)
-skulk infection. either the caves are completely infected, or the entire world is, OR infected caves + chance of infected surface. all biomes are the same, except skulk can and will generate.
-higher chance of wardens, and perma wardens. -or- some kind of entity similar to that and of the dweller trend.
-option to allow amplified
-option to allow perma night + (bonus) option for nighttime events

The Glitch that Broke Reality: A Virtual Adventure
By Alice It was supposed to be a normal game night. Ariel and I were sitting on the couch, both glued to our tablets, playing a new coding game that let us build virtual worlds with special commands. “Look! I just made a castle out of rainbow blocks!” Ariel said proudly, her eyes sparkling with excitement as the virtual castle shimmered on her screen. I grinned. “Cool! But what happens if we…

It's coming! It's coming!
The Cyberpunk A.U. is coming! Don't worry! It's on the top of my list! I just need to get my new drawing tablet for it, since my previous one doesn't work anymore. Most of the stuff will be in doodles, or concept art (but you'll rarely see the concept art unless if I need some approval or opinions of it before the final design) Keep your eyes open and watch out for some content! (As I will watch for some too!)

Code Geniuses in the Making: Icons Who Started Young
In a world where technology has become an integral part of our lives, these early coding pioneers remind us that curiosity knows no age limits. Take a step back in time and meet the trailblazers who harnessed the power of code when most of us were still mastering the art of tying shoelaces.
Tumblr media
Bill Gates, the visionary co-founder of Microsoft, wasn’t just a business magnate from the start. At the tender age of 13, Gates embarked on his coding adventure by writing his first computer program. Imagine a young Gates, hunched over a school teletype machine, eagerly crafting his digital masterpiece. This early fascination with coding paved the way for his transformative role in shaping the personal computing landscape.
Tumblr media
While most middle schoolers were busy trading Pokémon cards, Mark Zuckerberg was crafting his digital realm. His coding tale began in the sixth grade when he created a messaging program called “Zucknet” for his dentist’s father’s office. It wasn’t just a one-time experiment; Zuckerberg continued to tinker with Code, setting the stage for his future as the mastermind behind Facebook, a social network that would connect the world.
Tumblr media
Elon Musk, the maverick entrepreneur behind SpaceX and Tesla, was already immersed in the world of coding by the age of 12. In a tale reminiscent of garage inventors, Musk coded and sold his first video game, “Blastar,” cementing his early foray into both Programming and Entrepreneurship. Little did the world know that this coding prodigy would go on to reshape the realms of space exploration and sustainable transportation.
Tumblr media
Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the dynamic duo responsible for giving us the gateway to the internet, Google, joined forces in a coding journey at Stanford University. Sergey Brin, a computer whiz from an early age, was the son of a mathematician and a NASA researcher. He even found a way to circumvent his family’s budget limitations to buy a computer by winning a mathematics competition! On the other hand, Larry Page had a penchant for understanding how things worked. Their combined passions and expertise led them to create a groundbreaking Search Engine that forever changed how we access information.
Tumblr media
Gabe Newell, the visionary behind Valve Corporation and Gaming masterpieces like Half-Life, was already cracking the code of his future success during high school. He dabbled in programming on a teletype terminal, foreshadowing his pivotal role in shaping the gaming industry. Newell’s journey from Codingenthusiast to gaming guru showcases the profound impact of early exposure to programming.
These luminaries remind us that the journey to greatness often starts with a single line of code. Their stories underscore the power of nurturing young minds and fostering curiosity, proving that sometimes, a passion ignited early can lead to innovations that change the world. So, the next time you see a youngster tinkering with a Computer, who knows? You might just be witnessing the birth of the next future shaper of our ever-evolving world.

Activities for Regressors Without Caregivers! (or just fun regression activties!)
(Although you're always welcome here if you'd like any form of comfort anyway! ^w^)
Tumblr media
This one's kind of a long one, after the few tips I list, I've mentioned an app I use called Finch, which will be talked about below the cut.
Since that's the case, I'll put my little ending message here instead:
Knowing how to take care of yourself can take a lot of work and practice, but I believe it's worth the effort, because then you'll be a happier and healthier you! Especially if you can find ways to make it fun!
I'm more than happy to be here for you and offer my support in any way I can, anyhow! I'm proud of you for doing what you can, I know it can be very hard.
Tumblr media
I myself don't have a caregiver for when I regress, so most of the time I end up taking care of myself! Here are some fun activities and things I do when I regress to keep myself calm and happy! ^w^
Paci mentions/pics not long after the first section for those of you who'd rather not see 'em.
Tumblr media
♥ Arts and crafts! I absolutely LOVE coloring and making bracelets with beads, something not too complicated for little hands, but also something fun!
With coloring, you can buy coloring books, or draw something of your own to color in- even printing out a page you find online, coloring digitally, or tracing over something to color in could work! I prefer coloring more than drawing personally because I don't draw all the time, but I bet I could learn a little thing or two from the artists around here!
For bracelets (and other jewelry), strings can be hard to knot with little hands (at least they aren't those small, slippery clasps!!), but the beads shouldn't be too hard to handle if you're careful! Even just planning out patterns is fun!
Here are some My Little Pony bracelets I made, and the decorations I did for my pacis!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♥ Making playlists! Dancing is fun, and a good way to get the zoomies out, but you can just make playlists for any occasion! I have playlists that help me pet-regress, songs with sounds I like, adventure playlists... (Well- a lot of these are still in progress, but- you get the point!)
I also love those playlist videos on YouTube! Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy, Minecraft and music box music are typically my go-to to help me settle or just make for comfy background music! Here's one of my favorites, shadowatnoon has lovely Nintendo music mixes!
Tumblr media
♥ Playing with your plushies! You can take them on adventures, or make your own!
Like Toby, climbing The Great Pillow Mountain!
Tumblr media
(This is Toby by the way, he's one of my best friends and a VERY good hugger!)
You can play games with them, too! Toby's REALLY good at hide and seek... Maybe you can find him for me? :0
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♥ Finding shows to watch! I really like Paw Patrol and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the moment. Plus, you can look at agere content and fics from shows you like! People make really cool stimboards and moodboards, for example, and I like reading through all the fun stories people write!
Here's a silly picture of Rocky I found! :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finch
Finch is a self-care app where you take care of your very own little bird friend by taking care of yourself!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can set daily goals, or for each day (or more specific ones as well I think.). By completing these goals, you give your bird energy to go on adventures! They usually come back with a funny little story or silly questions, because they're learning, too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through completing these goals (or daily, at least), you can get Rainbow Stones, which you can use to buy clothes for your bird, make them different colors, or give them furniture for their house!
They're also LGBTQ+ and disability-friendly!! :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my little bird, Honeydew! You're welcome to friend me as well if you'd like, my code is: Z3E2T7VRK6
Tumblr media
It's helped me learn a lot about taking care of myself and keeping track of my goals, and I get little rewards for it! I've used the app for several months now, and it's helped me out a lot!
Tumblr media
"Fluttershy protects this blog! SFW interaction only, please and thank you! ^w^"
"Wouldn't show a kid? Doesn't belong here!"

i propose that instead of using the dsm-5 to diagnose people with autism we use this checklist instead, which was written very seriously and with a large amount of thought by meeeeee
the (incomplete) autism checklist, as written by an autist
a lonstanding interest or fascination in usually but not limited to one of these subjects, topics, or categories: trains and locomotives, programming and coding, video games (especially Minecraft, Pokémon, and Halo), biology, astronomy and space, or maps that you generally seem to know more about than other people
creeping sense of alienation or "otherness" since you were a child due to differences between yourself and your peers, often leading to isolation either by others or as a choice you made for yourself
social awkwardness due to not really talking to people
reading an exorbitant amount of books as a child
speaking and communicating in an incredibly specific, precise, and/or "professional" way due to mainly learning how to speak and/or talk through published media
commonly finds it difficult to express and communicate thoughts, ideas, and emotions in ways that other people can understand
one or more objects, shows, or media that you have an incredibly strong emotional attachment to that you would be devastated if it were taken from you
if you read this list and immediately thought "wait, but i experience [edge case], does that still count?"
