LoZ: Ternary Ages △ Royal Siblings

𓅓 Dahri | Royal Architect
The eldest of Rutimala's children, Dahri is the glue. She is artsy, compassionate, feels deeply, and has an eye for design. She is good at delegating tasks, but is not very charismatic, preferring intimate, quiet moments with those she treasures rather than rallies or crowds.
As the royal architect, Dahri oversees all artistic and infrastructural endeavors in the Empire. From actual architecture, irrigation, beautification, festivities, maintenance of statues and locales, and the encouragement of the arts (gems, painting, weaving, etc.)
Dahri is a talented dancer, partaking in any cultural or festive dance she can! Dancing and weaving are her favorite past times.
She is great with children. Gerudo culture lends to a 'it takes a village' mentality so children are the responsibility of the whole people - a calling Dahri takes very seriously. In her lavish royal gowns, she is often asked to spin or twirl by admiring young vai.
Her glowy and gentle nature allude to her sheltered life. Dahri has rarely left the Fortress, being the most sheltered out of the three children.
Dahri is the least magically inclined of the three as well - she continues to practice in hopes of getting a glimmer of lightning from her fingertips. Tangibly, Dahri is a menace with a bow and arrow should she join her fellow sisters in combat.
Once becoming chieftain, Dahri nurses the Gerudo Empire back to health. Her endeavors to tend to the Gerudo people and her calm approach to the devastated Hyrule earns her the title of Heroine of Gentleness/Compassion.
She continues the Dragmire family line. Dahri meets a Hylian historian and they end up with three children and a loving, long distance relationship. Dahri's middle child, Padora, becomes the next chieftain.
𓃦 Pashato | Captain of the Guard
Second born is Pashato, the brave and tempered captain of the royal guard. In and out of her capacity as captain, Pashato is steadfast, organized, justice-oriented, and a people-person. Pride, occasional arrogance, and an inability to think like the enemy weaken her but luckily she rarely makes decisions on her own, leaning on her siblings for wise council. She is also easily flustered.
Less artsy than her sister, Pashato thrives in conflict and risk, keeping a relatively level head amidst it all. She thrives in Molduga hunts, fast-paced border patrols, and high-tension and stakes missions that creep beyond the protective Highlands.
Her swordsmanship with her two-handed sword is near unmatched. In terms of magic, her lightning cleaver are impressive but require conduits (a sword, an item, etc.)
Pashato's position as Captain puts her in charge of all military endeavors such as missions, border patrols, delegation/diplomacy guards, general security, training, and weapon inventory (arms, armaments, artillery, etc.)
She loves to spar, both with those in her guard and especially her brother. Though she always orders no magic, lightning strikes when they take each other on.
In the Tricernary War, Pashato is wounded and killed by one of Zelda's light arrows in the Gerudo's final attempt to the besieg the castle/castle town. Her right hand and best friend, Keliyan, takes up the mantle. Pashato is left to fade away in Gerudo history, another Gerudo falling in battle.
𓃵 Ganondorf | King of the Gerudo
Last child and only son of Chieftain Rutimala.
Ganondorf is meticulous, cunning, and an opportunist. At best, he is diplomatic, listening to those he trusts most (even if it followed with a rebuttal) and has a soft spot for his people. At worst, Ganondorf is arrogant, prideful, and full of wrath. Though he never makes a rash decision if he can avoid it, he can fly off the handle.
From birth, according to his male status, Ganondorf was often isolated from his people and family, making brief appearances to the fortress at large and mostly getting to see his sisters during meals. Most of his time was engorged with training, learning the arts, strategy, diplomacy, languages, cultural tradition, and fighting/magic.
His isolated upbringing cultivated mischief. Ganondorf would find and navigate all the secret passageways in the Empire, using waterways and towers, promenades, and balconies to stealthily navigate the labyrinth of the Fortress. During his escapades, he would often sit and reflect in holy places, at the feet of depictions of divine beings he felt drawn to.
Early into his life, Ganondorf began having intense bouts of rage and delirium, breaking things and screaming as if in pain. Canines became tusks, breathing would become huffing, and the elder witches and Va'Qai were called in immediately to tend to the young prince's ailment.
While Kotake and Koume nurtured his talent for magic, Va'Qai Palu taught the young prince how to manage his beastly form and bouts of what she called 'Malice's affliction.' He was never hidden from the dark reality of his powers and divine connection. He tried to embrace it.
His magical repertoire is extensive. Lightning, illusions, phantoms, astral, and dark magics atop sword and archery proficiency. Kotake and Koume teach him how to call upon another being to strengthen his own magic, that being Demise. His dual wield swords are both for basic fighting and as magical conduits.
After Rutimala dies, Ganondorf is made king. His rule is painted in conflict, unwavering to the peace attempts from Hyrule and permits Gerudo retaliation. Though he had the Va'Qai as his wife, Gerudo oral tradition is in agreement that he did not have children.
His left arm has a tattoo on it, as does his back and hands.

It's the cowboy in me trying to escape through creative means Wrangle's Lore dump is here!!! He's... hmmmmm... basically a Link that became an Epona
Poor guy comes from a Hyrule where everyone is enjoying the peace a little too much. So much so that when the residents of the Central City heard some country kid was being claimed as the hero, they're a little reluctant to be living through another dark time in Hyrule's history. A hero showing up means terrible things, so whats a city of snobs to do but bully this "Link" child. He runs from a crowd that had gotten a hold of him and ends up where the Triforce chills out and accidentally makes a wish to the darn thing from his pleas. "I dont want to be seen as the hero. I want to run away." And the Triforce said "Bet." Next thing Link knows is he's standing on shaking foal legs and a golden set of reins settles on his head. He couldn't do much as guards heard the commotion only to find this pony hanging about and hey free horse with a side of panic as their golden relic is completely gone. Years past and Link gets the reputation of being a brute, but does enjoy watching the people panic over a doomsday that hasn't really shown any evidence at happening. He gets to live life as a work horse and bucking cocky lawmen off of him. Until one day the infamous horse thief, Midna, stops by and skips him to go after the other horses first. Only she has to hide in his stall at almost being caught before she could leave with the last horse. The guards are furious that he's the only horse left and if they can't ride him what's the point. They gang up on him to be sold and buy other horses to another farmer, butcher, glue factory, anything. Link bucks and fights but theres too many of them. But when he all but gives up Midna comes tearing out of her hiding spot and fights her way through the guards on him. She gets real hurt in the fight, but Link charges towards her and all but throws her on his back as he bolts out of the city. They get away and have a mutual respect for one another and are pals from then on. Link never really reveals he's a person, he just stays as a loyal steed. It's simpler to him.
#bonnie comes in later haha not like she's technically in this post or anything like that haha nooooo#He also becomes a person again way later same event but these lil lore dumps are setting up for future lore dumps#also i can type WAY more on tumblr than instagram so yall get these rambles i wish i could put there#my art#legend of zelda oc#link oc#legend of zelda au#loz oc#cowboy midna beloved

I’m replaying BOTW so I made a Yiga Clan oc! He enjoys reading, writing, and slacking off. He’s the youngest of the clan so older members often boss him around. He usually doesn’t listen and ends up doing his own thing—something that his mentor is to blame for. Unlike the others, he doesn’t really care about destroying Link. Instead, he uses hunting Link as an excuse to sightsee and learn about Hyrule.
Since he doesn’t know how Link looks like, he won’t attack unless the Master Sword is equipped. If you complete his quests, it’s revealed his mentor killed his birth parents and kidnapped him when he was a baby. This, among with other story stuff, will lead him to defect from the Yiga Clan and he’ll disappear for the rest of the game :( But he reappears in TOTK :D

LoZ: Ternary Ages △ Gerudo Worldbuilding
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾Gerudo Chieftain, Rutimala Dragmire𖤓 ⋆⁺₊⋆
Mentioned in this post, Rutimala was the Gerudo chieftain prior to Ganondorf's ascent to the throne. She is hailed as a Heroine of Endurance, not THE Heroine but is regarded as capable and affluent in this power.
Lady Rutimala Dragmire is matrilineally the chieftain. Her mother was Saranne, daughter of Koati, daughter of the previous king, Naboris. Rutimala has one sister, Pani, who fled the desert as a young teen and was never seen again.
Her grandmother, Koati, is related to Kotake and Koume. The witches tutored Rutimala in the arts of magic and diplomacy. Rutimala is highly skilled in lightning magic and concentrating this lightning into beams, orbs, and towering shields. She is proficient with the sword and loves Molduga hunting. She is equally endeared to shield making and talisman crafting.
The role of the Gerudo chieftain is by blood but also by merit - the fitness of someone's ability to lead can be challenged by another and trials of physical, emotional, intellectual, strategic, and magical strength are held to see who is fit. Rutimala challenged her mother's rule and usurped the throne.
Rutimala had relations with one Lurelin Hylian man, named Efste. Through him, Rutimala had her first two children: Dahri and Pashato. She stopped seeing him consistently as tensions with Hyrule escalated. Like many Gerudo mothers and chieftains, her escapades on the battle field did not stop at the prospect of being with child, bearing children, or rearing children.
Her second partner, another Hylian, was a member of Queen Zirda and King Rhoam's court, Captain Calateous. Calateous and Rutimala met on one of her diplomatic missions to Hyrule and their one-time affair led to her being pregnant and eventually having the next king, her third child and son, Ganondorf.
Rutimala's best friend was Palu, the Gerudo Va'Qai - or spiritual leader/head priestess. Palu, like her daughter soon would, fought constantly with Kotake and Koume and eventually put a wedge between the two witches and Rutimala in decision making processes.
The chieftain raised her children attentively and lovingly, holding the three of them to high, terse standards and shielding them well from the prying eyes of her people. She spent intentional time with them all, raised them in all she knew, and encouraged their natural talents.
Though she loved her daughters, Rutimala had a special spot for her son. Knowing he was to be king regardless of his birth order, she took special care to teach him diplomacy, languages, and a variety of arts: dancing, music, weapon making, storytelling, and star mapping.
She assigns Dahri to be the royal architect and Pasahto to captain of the royal guard.
Rutimala is one of the few who was densely skeptical about Riar'svah's presence in the Gerudo royal palace, wary about her potential sage-hood and isolated upbringing in the Spirit Temple in the Highlands. She forbade the Va'Qai from diplomatic meetings, war planning, and the innermost of the palace. Ganondorf would later undo these decrees.
Her diplomatic missions to Hyrule continued for some time, littered with skirmishes and battles in-between. Rutimala strongly disliked Queen Zirda, increasingly so after the Queen's proclamation that the Demon King has been born amidst the Gerudo. Rutimala counters pushes for a unified Hyrule and addresses their steady trade as being good enough.
As Hylian soldiers press closer to the desert borders, even bothering/harassing/attacking/pillaging some Gerudo wanderers, Molduga hunting parties, border patrols, and pilgrimages to the Spirit Temple, Rutimala declares Gerudo a hostile nation to Hyrule.
Escalation led to war. Rutimala is killed in a battle in the borderlands. She is fatally wounded by Zirda and dies in the rush back to the Gerudo fortress. Her death leds Ganondorf to being crowned king and for he, his two sisters, and the entire Gerudo Empire to declare a vindictive war on Hyrule.
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾ Gerudo Coronations | First Blood 𖤓 ⋆⁺₊⋆
Based on/inspired by this post - Gerudo coronations are for kings or chieftains. There are no regents in Gerudo governance and only those of the matrilineal line, successful challengers, or a male can be crowned. However, there are two exceptions:
In the case of twins, the throne is left vacant and the twins rule together. This applies to both vai and voe, based off the legend of the Twin Kings.
If the current ruler is killed and an emergency ruler is placed in charge. This ruler must be approved in a unanimous vote by the Gerudo council, a rapidly formed council of governance made of: siblings of the leader, leader's spouse and/or children, the elder witches, the va'qai, the captian of the royal guard, the royal architect, and one citizen
Ganondorf is crowned king after Rutimala's death. Mourning of a leader cannot begin until a new one is crowned.
Gerudo custom states that the end of a leaders coronation is to shed their own blood, usually on a ceremonial scimitar. This is a sign of fidelity and a promise of sacrifice and loyalty unto death for the Gerudo people. The blood of the ruler is then smeared onto the statues of the Heroines and Sand Goddess as a prayer for protection over their life.
Gerudo coronations are eight days long - consisting of feasts, observances of vigils, pilgrimages to the Spirit Temple, and tests for the leader. Each day is dedicated to a Heroine's trait and the last day is for the unification between the king/chieftain with the Sand Goddess so that the ruler can receive their divinity (think Egyptian Pharaoh)
Skill - the leader must hunt and kill a Molduga, leading a party or not. The Molduga is harvested and used to make the leader's new armor, cook meals, and provide a special oil for candles and fire. Weapons are polished and all meat is processed on this day.
Spirit - Spirit Temple pilgrimage. The Gerudo people pray and bless their new leader with gifts of food, gems, dyes, and fabrics. Fervent prayer, blessing of children in the new era, and greenery is collected and the fortress is decorated in rich flora and greenery.
Endurance - The leader holds a 24 hour vigil and fast, seated on the steps leading to the palace. The Gerudo people spend all day cooking, cleaning, and preparing their homes for a night of vigil where chants, songs, and music are preformed.
Knowledge - The leader is finally permitted to sit on the throne and begin delegating and mapping out their plan of leadership. On this day, the history of the Gerudo is orally shared across the empire. Facades, graves, mosaics, statues, altars, and temples are cleaned thoroughly and tended to.
Flight - the royal palace is fervently cleaned out, reorganized, and decorated with new tapestries, plants, gems, and metallurgy. Gerudo will sleep with windows unbarred or uncovered to let wind in and the wind catchers of the city are opened fully. It is seen as cooling off the town in preparation for...
Motion - A large fireside feast for the empire is held, paired with music, dancing, and feats of magic. The leader makes a grand social appearance and declares sisterhood/brotherhood with their people. They sit, feast, dance, play songs, and sing alongside their people as if they were a commoner.
Gentleness - A day of rest. The leader sits on the throne and the Empire sits in gentle silence, with little work to be done. Mourning starts today for the previous leader if they have died.
The Day of the Sand Goddess - This is the day the leader slashes their palm before the Gerudo people and receives the golden, unique crown/tiara that sits on their head, often woven into their hair. The leader is finally allowed to wear black, the color of royalty, and their hair is cut short, signifying the start of their growth as leader. The leader will then spend the night in prayer, vigil, and fast at the Spirit Temple alone.
