i feel like this is at least partly a result of the comfortable unified environment provided by a full framework. cooperation between the frontend and backend for shit like multipart forms or validation is silly. but like, ideally there would be a better choice than react for a lot of stuff. there are a lot of interesting pushes in this direction though- i used to be really into liveview and alpine, and it seems like people like svelte and vue

Feel like the ultimate question of web deployment is "does this even need to be an application" and part of the reason everyone hates web developers is that the answer *would* be no in most cases if not for a whole bunch of dynamic content that no one who visits the website actually wants.

if you didnt have ads and trackers and banners and email signup popups and comments sections full of spam and trolls, you'd just be serving some text with images 99.999% of the time and none of the webdev gack would be necessary. You only gamble on the added bloat paying for itself despite the massive added bandwidth cost because otherwise the amount you're getting paid is "zero"

Thinking about drunk ratio, he rarely gets drunk, he's a lightweight though. Aven is usually the one to get him drunk bc he feels the safest around aven, he trusts aven won't do anything or leave him alone. Ratio also loves aventurines perfume and also his natural smell, he loves both, he never says anything about his love for his scent but when he's drunk, he loves to nuzzle up to avens stomach and hug him close. Humming quietly and Mumbling that he smells good. Aven, a lil tipsy himself, js smiles down at him and rakes his fingers though ratios hair.

Aventurine also loves ratios smell, ratio always smelt clean and fresh (bc of all the baths), but when he came home after a long day, he smells a mix of his colone, deodorant, sweat, and just day in general. He's tired, his hairs a mess, but aven loves to burry his face as soon as he gets home and agressivly inhales. If he could have it bottled he could. You don't know what's making you more drunk; the alcohol or the man in front of you.

You've been watching his dark hooded eyes gaze at you this whole conversation, something that should feel casual, but with no one else on the couch, feels more intimate than you would have expected. And try as you might, you can't ignore the deep timbre of his voice, almost reminding you of a siren in how you can barely focus on anything else. Even the loud music of the party seems to fade when your eyes naturally trace the sound to the curve of his mouth, occasionally curling on one side when he catches your eyes wandering lower.

Damn. You don't remember being this much of a lightweight.

“-but enough about my major,” he sighs, rubbing his finger absentmindedly along the trim of the couch, a gesture that definitely should not have your insides twisting into a coil. “I am becoming increasingly curious as to what yours might be.” The tilt of his lips gives away the mock sincerity he's using, a sarcastic stab to the dull nature of collegiate small talk. You fight the urge to grin, feeling like a silly teenage girl. It was only one shot of vodka, what the hell?

“Guess.” An unoriginal response, but he leans back and strokes an imaginary beard, looking to the ceiling as if he was consulting the gods of career choices.

After a moment, he snaps his fingers and points at you.

“Culinary arts?”

“Close. Psychology.”

He bursts out laughing at your blatant lie, and you don't think you've ever heard a sound more disarming.

There is no way it was just vodka in your red solo cup.

“Have you been psychoanalyzing me?” He says with a glint in his eyes as he narrows them.

“I can't help it,” you laugh.

“Tell me.” His voice was so clear despite it being barely above a whisper.

“You just want to know how you're perceived by a stranger, don't you?”

His jaw drops open in awe. “You really are a psych major, huh?” You nod your head and let a laugh slip out again.

“So what have you gathered about me then?” He leans closer again, quieting his voice even more just in case anyone could hear him over the raging bass of the speakers.

“Well for one, you’re quiet,” you begin, and you wait for him to open his mouth(probably to argue that that’s obvious) to continue, “but it’s not because you’re shy. You’re reserved, probably choosing to keep to yourself in public situations because you don’t crave social interaction.”

His tongue pushes the inside of his cheek, fighting a smile, and you have to digest the butterflies in your stomach to keep going.

“And you’re observant, which is pretty common amongst introverted…?” you wait for him to confirm your guess with a nod, “Right. Introverted reserved guys that get caught people watching at parties.”

“I was not!” He argues, scrunching his nose in defiance.

“How’d you know what was in my cup then?”

“Oh that?” He nods his head over to the strawberry blonde that has the kitchen on lock, entertaining practically every girl within earshot of him. “Jaemin makes the same drink for every new girl he meets.”

You raise an eyebrow, unimpressed. “A vodka cranberry?”

“With a splash of lime,” he adds, rolling his eyes. “He insists it elevates the drink.”

“Does he know it’s a house party?"

“Shh, he doesn’t need to know that.”

You’re both laughing, with heads so close that if it weren’t for the decibel levels of the party, you’d be sweating buckets at his proximity.

“You’re good though,” he says, sighing, and when he sees your confused stare he elaborates, “your psychoanalysis, I mean. That was pretty spot on.” You shake your head, waving him off with your free hand.

“That was nothing– I’d rather see you try,” you subtly challenge, raising your cup back to your lips.

“Oh yeah?”

You raise your eyebrows, as if you were daring him to try and figure you out.

He leans back from you, now gazing at you thoughtfully as he crosses his arms across his chest. Immediately you feel warm, clearly unprepared for having this much attention on you, let alone his. Your outfit was nothing unusual for a college party– just a short dress you felt confident in paired with a shrug that matched your sneakers –and you smirk to yourself knowing that the only piece of your personality he could derive from your clothes was well out of sight.

“I think you have a lot of secrets,” he says suddenly, meeting your eyes and leaning in close again. There was a lilt to his voice; was he teasing?

“Doesn’t everyone?” You ask, attempting to get him to elaborate.

“No, you’re probably a vault now that I think about it,” he chuckles, eyes wandering down to your neck as he eyes the locket necklace hanging just above your collarbones. “And assuming you want to go into a career where you help people, you’re always giving advice and listening to others, but don’t bother bothering others with your problems.”

He hit the nail on the head so hard you’re practically drooling.

“Who are you, seriously,” you laugh, feeling ridiculously exposed.

“Park Jisung, creative writing,” he says, swirling his hands and giving a mock bow, and you playfully slap his hand away. “How’s your back?”

“Sorry?”

“Your back. You know, doesn’t it hurt from carrying the weight of your friends’ trauma?”

When was the last time you laughed this much? “Not nearly as much as writer’s block.”

He scoffs, holding a hand against his hoodie and leaning back as if you’ve delivered a fatal blow. Which you probably did, to his ego. “So she plays dirty. I should have seen that coming.”

“Careful, I know how to weaponize words.”

“Well that makes two of us,” he muses, leaning close enough so his voice is clear again. “I’m also good at telling people what they wanna hear.”

“Is that so?” You bend down and leave your solo cup on the floor, no longer interested in its contents. “What do you think I wanna hear then?”

He pauses, probably weighing the risk of voicing his next thought.

“Mmmm…something like how from the moment I saw you at the bar, I knew I couldn’t leave this party without your number,” he says, fighting a smirk as he lifts a hand to his face to hide his bashful expression.

“Oh really,” you laugh, mentally thanking the low light in the room for hiding the blush coloring your cheeks. He wasn’t wrong though, you won’t let him leave without your digits in his phone.

Your gaze flickers down to his pouty lips, hoping he’ll pick up what you’re putting down. ”Anything else?”

“I think…” he says slowly, leaning in just enough so his intentions are clear as day, “you want me to say that I wanna try that vodka cranberry.”

“With lime,” you add, eyelids dropping as his face inches closer to yours. “The lime is essential.”

“Right. Can’t forget that.”

He smiles right when his lips touch yours, and the action has your skin nearly bursting into flames before he finally commits to the kiss.

Pillowy and soft, his kiss is slow and sensual against your lips, and immediately you feel so dizzy that you brace a hand on his shoulder to steady yourself, which unintentionally pulls him closer. The second kiss is deeper as a result, and the buzz in your fingertips is not from the alcohol, you’re sure.

Pulling away with a smile on his lips, Jisung watches your reaction carefully, and you hope that you don't look half as flustered as you feel with his face still close to yours.

“Riddle me this, psych major,” he says, eyes flickering around your face, “can you tell me what I’m thinking right now?”

You don’t even have to think twice; following his gaze was enough of an indication.

Somehow, you find it in yourself to giggle amongst the tension. “You want to get out of here?”

“Well,” he grins, tilting his head towards the door and offering a hand to you, “since you’re asking…”

i finally have a lot of time and lots to yap abt and this ask is gonna go so many different places cus. i have an inability to stay on track. hope u don't mind <3

im v interested in a lot of things fashion-wise for both kingdoms, along side other topics but my current brain worm has been abt the wedding itself. i have to imagine that customs r very different up north compared to central (ricos kingdom is centre, right?) ones and one of the main factors for me is the prince consort's attire.

would max wear his own traditional attire to signify the relation between two kingdoms or would he have to conform to the verhoeven wedding attire? and does he get a choice in the matter? i think this is a pretty major stand-in or reflection of the progressiveness/conservatism of the laws, and by extension, the people there. or at least of the royal families. i have like a wedding attire design analysis cooking up im js waitinggg for that hint or nudge twrds it (other than the tailoring and measurements mention which were very a nice touch!) so i have some material to go off of and don't accidentally mess w/the writing flow.

and sparring clothes !! ohh im thinking abt sparring fits a lot. lightweight loose sweatshirts for consistent long practice hours, tighter fits and cleaner material for evaluation sparring (and some show-off), maybe leathers for max to demonstrate certain situations better i js know rico and townspeople would go crazyyyyy.

also im thinking fmf au where everything is the exact same except townsfolk have twitter. i don't know how. they js do and purely for the sake of treating the royal families how we treat f1 drivers (and all of stantwt yk)

oh I'm such a worldbuilding nerd it's genuinely a problem. fmf is entirely self indulgent and that's just another example LOL. I have no problems with rambling asks :D there's technically spoilers for the wedding below but I put lots of thought into it so I think you should all read it anyways 🫶

wedding thoughts: there's a little bit of a mix going on here! for the actual ceremony, they've both got white suits. Rico's has chunkier gold embellishments compared to max, who has finer silver jewelry. (matching with his diadem that I talk a little about here.) there's an element of northern customs with both of them having white fur cloaks (a gift from the north in celebration of max- his people put a lot of their time and energy into getting the materials and constructing two of the cloaks. it's a clear sign of approval by his own people back home.)

cultural northern customs involve having to chase your partner down after the offered proposal in what is widely considered to be a fun, slightly horny "hunting" game. sure, you can propose- but if you can't even catch the person you're trying to marry, are you really a good fit? the chaser usually has to avoid traps set by the partner being chased, who's goal is to go without getting caught until the sunrise. when the partner being proposed to initiates the chase by running, it's a partial acceptance. full acceptance is given if they're caught.

central kingdom customs involve a very large festival-style celebration that features lots of bright colors, and clothing that's flowing and showcases movement for dancing. very big emphasis on marriage being a solid foundation and element of a healthy community, so any kind of union (royal or not) is celebrated with a bunch of enthusiasm. traditionally there's a lot of dancing through the day into the evening, and then the night ends when the townsfolk carry the newlyweds and dump them into the lake. (symbolizing the washing off of any past struggles or baggage, and that when they leave the lake together they're starting their new life as partners)

for the rico and max, they do both! the initial hunt after the proposal, and then the festival after the ceremony.

sparring clothes please I love your brain. generally soldiers wear lightweight clothing to practice (unless they're doing armor training) which max is fine with, but when he's teaching certain movements and evaluations he wears the leathers. there's lots of theories floating around why he does that, ranging from "he's trying to make us overthink it" to "it's a reminder of how different the styles are" it's actually just because his leathers are very well broken in and comfortable.

scene thirteen in session …

megan let out a contented sigh as the warm water cascaded down her body, washing away the sweat and fatigue of dance practice. she closed her eyes, letting the water massage her muscles, and began to hum a soft tune.

but her relaxation was short-lived. suddenly, the peaceful atmosphere was shattered by an aggressive banging on the door of her dorm. megan's eyes snapped open, her heart racing as she froze, water still pouring down on her.

megan rushed out of the shower, grabbing a towel to dry herself off as she moved. she managed to slip on a pair of baggy sweatpants and a bra, but that was as far as she got.

her heart still racing, megan approached the door cautiously, wondering who could be on the other side. she slowly turned the handle and swung the door open, ready to face whatever was waiting for her.

y/n stumbled forward, a goofy grin on her face. "you smell nice," y/n slurs out.

megan raised an eyebrow, laughing. "what's going on? what happened to you?"

sophia and manon stood on either side of y/n, holding her upright. "we think she had a bit too much to drink," sophia said, chuckling.

y/n shaked her head confidently, insisting she wasn't when well, she clearly was. "i only had a couple shots." y/n groaned as her eyes squinted.

megan shook her head, smiling. "you're such a lightweight."

kazuha stood quietly behind them, a small smile on her face.

"can we crash here for a bit?" manon asked. "y/n's not exactly in any shape to walk."

megan nodded, stepping aside to let them in. "yeah, sure. make yourselves at home."

"good answer, i was going to let them in anyways." sophia laughed, making megan roll her eyes as she playfully smacked the filipina.

"i'll be right back, i'm just gonna put on a shirt." the three simply nodded, and megan beelined for her room.

when megan returns, fully clothed, manon is nowhere to be seen, and y/n's much more sober-looking than when she arrived. sophia's over in the kitchen, pouring a glass of water, raising the pitcher to megan, which megan shakes her head.

"you okay?" megan mumbles softly. y/n nods, shyly looking away.

"i'm sorry," y/n groans. "this is really embarassing."

"it's-"

sophia cuts megan off, aggressively slamming the fridge door shut. "y/n, you literally just broke up with the love of your life after a whole year of dating him. sure, he was an ass, but i know you loved him," sophia said, as she made her way to the living room where y/n was resting.

"it's fine that you got drunk. you deserve to. you still look bad as fuck and people noticed." sophia playfully teased, a slight grin playing at her lips that only grew as she managed to crack y/n's somber facade and get a smile out of her.

there's a lot of information to process, but megan focuses on the fact that her not-so-secret crush had just recently broken up with her ex-lover and megan wasn't aware of it. of course, she knew about the whole mateo and y/n situation going on because of it being the only thing blowing up her social media feed, but she didn't know they'd actually broken up.

"huh?" megan isn't sure how to respond. sophia appears in front of y/n, holding the glass to her lips.

"we'll tell you about it. manon just went out to get some drinks."

"y/n has been sober for like one minute, and you're just gonna get her drunk all over again?" kazuha huffs in amusement.

"spot on." sophia winks playfully.

this wasn't how megan expected the night to go, but it looked like she didn't have much of a choice.

sigh... the stand by stephen king (allegedly 514,827 words) beating out the lord of the rings (480,000 words) and jonathan strange & mr norrell (308,000 words). the stand is the only one of these i read on paper. it was a very chunky little free library find. it's mr king's response to the lord of the rings. there are many contrasts from one to the other but i was particularly struck by tolkien's loving walking-and-riding descriptions VS king's veneration of the car

23. What’s the fastest time it took you to read a book?

not counting graphic novels: it takes me about an hour to read a lightweight romance novel or one tamora pierce circle of magic book. i think i got through JS&MN in like two days when i was in the mountains without internet though

It was 7:18pm on a Saturday, a warm summer evening, August 15 read the calendar, right under was “Tina’s Gala” written in purple ink from one of (Y/N)’s favorite pen.

“Ma, y yo tengo que ir?” (Do I have to go?)

This conversation doesn’t last long, as Miles is currently helping (Y/N) into her body tight strapless dress that shimmers with each tug in the dim light of their newly bought and shared apartment.

(Y/N) adjusts the dress soothing out the wrinkles, taking a glance at the dry-cleaned three piece suit, she got for Miles, to then returning her gaze onto her self.

Miles on the other hand was contemplating if he should go while staring intently at the suit propped up on the closet door.

Miles glances to his left, feeling a dip of the bed next to him, he fully turns his head to look at (Y/N), seeing her mouth, mouthing some words but falling on deaf ears.

Miles is starstruck, taking in the sight of his best friend secret crush in the dimly lit room, how her curls bounce with each head motion, the way her eyes lights up and showed millions of stories, her melanin skin that glows even more with the highlights/concealer she has on her cheek bones, the way that perfect dress which matches his suit hugs her curves, and her—

“Hellooooo, earth to Miles” (Y/N) says waving her manicured hand in front of Miles, bringing the man of his trance

“Huh?”

(Y/N) clicks to the right, ‘another one?’ An imaginary sweat drop, forms on her hairline

(Y/N) stares at the text on the story, mind drifting off to Miles as he has a tendency to pick at people who try and talk to you, wether it be ‘can I get your number’ or ‘you single’

*click* Miles steps out with his 3piece walking over casually as if he not about to crease the shit out of his blazer.

“guau que guapoo” (Y/N) claps to give off the impression of being impress, even though she was

“Yea yea, this guapo about to leave you ” he mumbles, starts checking himself out in the mirror before exiting the room to grab the car keys up to the front of the house

(Y/N) grabs her purse and quickly follows in pursuit only to be met with Miles offering her a hand to help her down the stairs, in which she takes.

Quickly exiting the lobby as fast as they entered it they were now outside.

“Wait here ma, a pretty girl shouldn’t have to walk”

“As me el favor, es no es na”

“And you still gonna listen, wait here”

(Y/N) lets him have the last words as she stares at his disappearing figure in the crowd of cars. No less than 3 minutes, and sure enough miles is in front of where (Y/N) is standing. Getting out of the car over to the passenger door to open it for her

“After you m’lady”

“Para de jugar”

“Y tu para de jugar conmigo”

(Y/N) laughs it off while getting in completely, letting Miles shut the door on her, while retreating to his side.

I suppose I'm sort of doing impromptu dev logs on here anyway so I might as well keep you lot updated -

so the next quality of life fix is just getting the data to load in a bit more... sensibly.

I've had all of my javascript in one file, the problem being that js loads in line by line, which starts to become absolutely painstaking when your script starts getting really heavy

I knew I would have to do something like this at some point, it's already working a bit better just breaking the file into 3: one to host all the data for the entries, one for the information on date and subject tags, and the last one is for actually loading in the entries.

we've made the third one here asynchronous, which means it's not going to prevent the page from loading further while loading up the entries.

I think some other steps that might help smooth it out would be converting the main data array into JSON, which is one way to make the data more lightweight, maybe adding a couple more stipulations to the entry logging function so there's a bit more of a stagger between each post loading in, in real time.

we might be getting to the point where the main question is about image hosting. which... I thiiiiink I had a fix for, but it'll involve having to wrap my head around all that.

The main thing is I have thousands of files I want to be able to sort into directories and freely manipulate. so there's, yes, image hosting sites that you can just slap something into and get an embed link for, but this is not practical. Apparently there's a way of manipulating GitHub for this, which sounds a lot more promising, but also a fair bit more technical.

On why he chose to take a dangerous fight despite Mike Tyson’s concerns: This is what I do. I'm here to fight. I love to take risks and do big events. On the decision to choose Perry as the opponent: This came about because he has a crazy fan base. And anytime I would post an Instagram picture over the last like 18 months, one of the top comments would always be fight Mike Perry. Fight. Mike Perry, you're scared of Mike Perry, and so I love to prove people wrong and take the fights that no one thinks I'm going to take.

On how his skill has improved: This past year has been a different Jake Paul showing up into the gym, learning in the gym, and I really haven't been able to display my skills because of the first round knockouts, and likely that'll happen again on Saturday, but I really have so many tools in the shed that I'm ready to pull out and get warmed up as the rounds go on, and just display all the new things we've Been working on.
