i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies
BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...
#pjo#riordanverse#pjo tv crit#i do love the casting for the musical lots and lots though#it was really good#i do also have some nitpicks for show casting but they're largely inconsequential#like majority i very much enjoy and think are cast well#i only have one i'd say im actually disappointed with and that's Poseidon. idk he just feels. bland??? does that make sense?#like idk maybe it's the costuming but im not getting Sea God *or* Fishing Dad from him#like i think i kinda see what they were going for and i saw some gifs of him in another show where he plays a pirate and its like#okay. *little* bit better. but idk im just not getting Poseidon from it#in general most of the immortals in the show dont feel very Immortal(tm) but thats definitely mostly just the writing/show itself#not any reflection of the casting#my only other two are i would have liked plus sized Clarisse. i am VERY sad we didnt get that#Dior is a VERY good Clarisse though so i'm not too upset about it. i like her Clarisse energy. the yelling is fantastic.#my most controversial pjo tv take is im still meh on Walker. like he's fine. but like he's kind of Just Fine to me so far#its probably mostly the writing being bad but he hasnt grown on me as Percy yet. i can tell he has the energy though in interviews n stuff#and the main trio dynamic in interviews and stuff is *very* good. i just wish the show writing was better#because the casting IS very good but they have so little to work with. you can really tell theyre trying their best#i like to joke the show would be better if they just set the cast loose in the woods doing in-character improv#like its clear basically all of them know their characters SUPER well. id watch 8 episodes of in the woods pjo cosplay improv.

i finished book 2 for twc last night and i think book 3 is the last one before i catch up??
#im a bit confused but i think 4 is currently a work in progress#hence why its not buyable#i read faster than i expected!#but yea i ended up getting more into the story than i had originally expected#i was a bit unsure#when i started#cause i was like...do i even like vampires that much#but i ended up fortunately getting invested whew#the supernatural stuff became much more appealing when i realized we were gonna be running into different types!#and experiencing the group dynamic shift with mc was enjoyable#my fav parts in book 2 were seeing the characters warming up to MC#especially A and M#since they were very cold at first#F im the closest with after N#okay!#im gonna start book 3 and after that#who knows what ill do#i havent decided yet on the next IF#recs are always welcomed#i just count up how many ppl have said to read the thing and then whichever has the highest number#i go to#the wayhaven chronicles

The Nurses a very funny episode because margaret gets a long sympathetic moment where she cries about the other nurses not being nice to her after five straight seasons of her bullying the hell out of the nurses

#none of the characters rlly speak to me as My Guy so far .. im intrigued by what loops deal is#but not rlly by them as a person? so i cant say theyre my fav#same with siffrin. i love how they sometimes say like some rlly concerning stuff like its no big deal#like “its ok if i die as long as my friends survive. as long as i do my job” n shit like Ok man! happy for you. theyre swag they intrigue m#i like mira:) shes nice. i like odille:) shes awesome. bonnie is cool n i like their dynamic w odille#isas cute#i find the whole concept intriguing. and im very curious as to who loop Is. if they were always like this or if they became this way#and how exactl theyre connected to siffrin. and the king bc im assuming theyre connected to hmi one way or another#maybe theyre the handmaiden that mira 'replaced' ?!! crazy if true#i like the ost a lot:) i like the art. the character interactions are rlly awesome the dialogues wonderful#its v lovely#played 3-4 hours just nyaow so theres still a LOT for me to get to... i wouldnt have played as much had i not been streaming to a friend#but!!ya:) its nice. i like it. ill def play more of it#its a nice game#its been in my wishlist for monthssss im happy to finally play it#anyway out of the main group odilles my fav for nyaow i think tho it might very possibly change#sharing my thoughts here bc i know some of my mutuals/followers like this game . and im the yapper 👍#the character dialogue rlly is everything to me. v awesome

*through gritted teeth* there is no shame in tagging a for fun fic with the fandom tag of multiple continuities. Mixing continuities can't hurt me
#did u know there's less than 90 fics for the marvel tf continuity?#which is understandable bc it's batshit and hard as fuck to work with#BUT it introduces so many interesting concepts it's worth checking out#so I frequently use some of these concepts in my work but change it over to be in a cartoon g1 setting so I can give it room to breathe#Anything I write with the Combaticons Prowl or Blaster almost always have inspiration from marvel in them because I really like the setup#for their characters there#with the combaticons it tends to be more specifically Blast Off in refrence to the comic where#Blaster locks him in alt and uses him for children's entertainment against his will#and I have a lot of thoughts on that!!!!! how it would traumatize him and change dynamics with autobots and w his gestalt n stuff#Rn I'm just struggling with a tagging a fic that openly uses Prowl's introduction in marvel bc I think it's interesting as fuck but the#story itself is in the cartoon generation one which heavily contradicts marvel#whereas most other times I use marvel I can work it in somewhere into the cartoon continuity but here I can't#and I certainly don't want to erase elements from either continuity#oh well. I just have to get over my annoyance at tagging#and then hope that ppl don't avoid it too heavily because of the tagging!! even tho it's no different from a fic tagged as all media types#in a personal continuity

Had a huge thought but it ended up just boiling down to how I think people should focus less of their energy on shipping or whatever but also do what you want just don't be a misogynist i don't know
#I think it ultimately doesn't matter except when it becomes a problem#If that makes sense#What spurred this thought was vivaxbarb stuff#Because it kinda felt like people saw the canon straightness or whatever#And went oh well ok we'll just use this other poppy who cares#Sorta just immediately shipping viva away instead of focusing on what makes her interesting and unique#Especially since poppy n barb was a ship because of their in canon relationship and dynamics#Which actually make sense and work really well as a lesbian couple#I love poppy n barb together it works so well#Plus poppy has two hands brother#But viva and barb haven't even met and probably won't have that same dynamic#So it feels like people are treating viva as poppy 2 with just a disregard for her as her own character#Which. Idk. Strange.#I'm reading too far into it but like#I don't see people doing like Synth x one of branchs brothers or anything because branch is in a relationship already or whatever#I think ultimately it's a harmless ship#That's indicative of a greater issue#Which is seeing women characters as just. i had heard titans was bad and it WAS bad and so i didn't realize it could get WAY WORSE
#s1 and 2 are like. you can have a decent time and there are good bits here and there#you can pick those out and go play with them in your mind. make up better stories than the show probably#and there's not that much that's butchered completely. you can think of most things as their take on characters n stuff#s3 out the gate. butchers and disrespects characters and storylines without exception#utrh absolutely demolished. every character annihilated. motives and dynamics destroyed.#utter carnage#anyways hank just fucking exploded. whatever
