okay i figured out which wips this is for lmao.

He was staring up at Wei Wuxian’s face, glass-brown eyes half-lidded but fierce.

It glittered, in the sunlight, when you looked down at it cupped in the wide harbor—they were great glass-makers, and the sign of wealth was not that you had glass in your windows but that the little panes were thin and even enough to look through.

Inside, the glass had been shattered.

This was a fun word to run on the mdzs fics lmao; I suspected this would be the result. 'Glass' is the comparison the novel makes for the color of Lan Wangji's eyes, rendered 'gold' for the animation, and glass does not otherwise appear in the setting that I can recall.

I tend to interpret this description in terms of how the two easiest/cheapest colors to get in glass are generally brown and blue, both much easier than colorless, so these are the colors you see most often in historical contexts where there's a glass industry, but not a huge one.

In which case we're doing an interesting thing where an amber brown that would normally be considered warm, being shaded toward a somewhat reddish yellow, becomes a 'cold' color because it's being defined as 'glass,' which also lends it a sense of hardness and clarity. Given I'm working with translation idk if this is correct, but it's my working hypothesis.

Since Mo Xuanyu does not feel the need to draw this description of Hanguang-jun's features, there is no glass in his fic at all.

ITS THE KIND OF THING THAT MIGHT COME AS COLD COMFORT,  but Laika pauses, her head tilting in consideration.  It's a thought that disquiets her, and she's not sure why.

To Laika, death is but the foregone conclusion.  The end of all endings; the very last thing to worry about.  Once the knife, the spear, or any number of implements had done her in, what else was there to think of? Once Laika was dead, she expected to be dirt, ash; the way they all are made. If whoever kills her would give her even that.

She's stood vigil at too many paupers' pyres, watching once-friends become unidentifiable mass. Some part of it never sat right with her, that the poor had no choice but this, faceless even in death. No one to croon at the wall of light, or the coin to pay for it.

It is clear to her, in both his nature and the world he comes from, that Emmrich does not share her perspective. And it's not a bad thing, necessarily. But the way a wound itches when it heals, she has to think and mull it all over.

“ Does that...  ” She makes a small sigh, her own confusion, her own discomfort evident.  ( she welcomes discomfort, in many ways, but that doesn't make it easier. )   “ I don't know — ”  Her hands are held over her stomach, interlaced fingers twisted into knots.  Repeated thoughts about the dead, the out of reach and never seen again. Laika wonders what they would say, if Emmrich could reach them.

But the Vint burn their dead. What other option is there?

“ The dead feel so distant from us, even if death is always so near. Does knowing that they are closer than we think - does it help? ”

a 2nd new story idea has hit the towers although i’ve sort of had an idea like it for a while but it’s a little clearer now

made up of 5-7 parts

little bit severance

little bit “masque of the red death”

little bite that scene at the end of rogue one with the rebels passing the plans along even though it kills them in the end

groups of 4-5 people trying to escape a Bad Place they don’t know anything about or why they’re there

each part is about a different group of people

each group dies at the end of their part

but each group makes progress on escaping and leaves behind clues or what work they’ve done

the groups that follow them don’t know who they were or sometimes that they even existed but they are still helped towards freedom by the past groups and they build on that progress for the next groups in return

one character that stays the same for each group. possibly gets a new-ish name each time. obviously no one knows that this one person isn’t dying (or is dying but being revived?) so what are they even gonna do about it.

are they being watched? is this an experiment or a test? or are they just. alone. left with a mystery made by engineers long gone. is it eldritch horror, is it scifi horror, is it fantasy horror? they don’t know!! no one knows!!!! (i don’t know yet and may not ever!)

because i’m a thief with a hyperfixation the one character who stays consistent will be named variations of ‘shadow’ throughout.

I am also relatively new to sentai (i hopped on with lupat and kingoh in february) but the series is very my style with the themes and hyper colored heroes and big action and robots, so i settled in quick lol!

Kyuranger was the second series i watched (and completed) so i’ve got a massive soft spot for them, they’re all so cute! Here’s a collection of doodles i made of Lucky a long time ago and never posted for whatever reason just because.

Today on "Another JeanMarco Soulmate AU absolutely no one asked for" I present to you -

Soulmate AU in which you stop seeing colors when your soulmate dies, the only exception being your soulmate. Now cue to Jean who just found Marco's, his best friend's, body. And you know, there's the shock of finding out Marco's dead. The pain and confusion and guilt. But there's also the revelation, because despite everything he can still see Marco like nothing took place at all- yes, half of his face is missing and his body is straight up lifeless, but Jean can still make out the color of his eye ; see that light shade of brown perfectly, remember all the times he has found himself looking at them while listening to Marco talk. He can still make out the colors of his uniform, see the same shade of black his hair has always had, practically see. Despite being dead, Marco was the only piece of color left in his life.

And there's denial for a moment because there's no way Marco was his soulmate. But that goes away fast, getting replaced by guilt. By the fact that he hasn't been there to save him, that Marco has to die all alone without anyone being there for him.

And that was worse than the simple fact that he could no longer see colors ; because Marco was there when Jean needed him, but he failed to do the same. And not only he lost his best friend that day, but his other half too.
