It's the fixers running this blog. We are making this for three reasons.

Reason One: I learned that a friend of mine from the Shi Association has a blog on here. And people should follow them.

Reason Two: I wanted to show my fiance the abilities that this website has.

I'm Hono, my grade is Topaz Ash. Yes, I'm a Color Fixer. I'm nonbinary (at least, I think I am), and I guess I'm a lesbian.

OMG JLB just announced a clothbound deluxe edition of the Inheritance Games (In the UK) and I’m literally freaking out they are so freaking beautiful. (I’ll be ordering them off of BlackWell’s because I live in the US)

Also, JLB announced a while ago that her Fixer Series was getting new covers and a new titles (The Ruling Class & Lessons in Power). I haven’t read the series yet but I’ve heard a lot of really great reviews about it.

Sometimes I use my knowledge for good. Other times, I feel like I’m on the War Thunder forums and someone’s making a stupid argument about my country’s tanks.

Anyway, here’s a quick summary of the discussion:

An acquaintance of mine thinks Lobotomy EGO looks too fragile to be effective as equipment. They aren’t necessarily wrong; Lobotomy EGO is comparable to Workshop equipment. Sometimes a little on the weak end, sometimes a little OP (cough Paradise Lost cough). I tried to explain this to them and how in some cases Workshop technology outperforms EGO.

This unfortunately resulted in a completely different debate about why one would train their Virtues to use EGO without corroding when you could just train your body and buy augments and Workshop gear.

To summarize why you might want to use EGO for those aspiring Fixers who might be leaning one way or another, Lobotomy EGO comes with all the knowledge of how to use it baked into the equipment. So long as your mind can withstand the strain, you could pick up Gold Rush or Mimicry and be just as skilled with it as the Red Mist herself. You trade the potential from growth for an instantaneous access to the skills and knowledge necessary to wield your weapon effectively, meaning even a talentless hack could make for a good Fixer if they have the fortitude to wield EGO. And, as far as I’m aware, any knowledge you have accumulated outside of using the EGO is fair game too, so there’s really no drawback if you have the training.

Catch is though, Lobotomy EGO is rare, dangerous, and meant to arm swathes of peons, not high-level Fixers. If you’re sufficiently trained already, you might not learn anything new; Just have a really durable and high-power sword, or a gun that doesn’t need bullets. A convenience, but easily outperformed by things like Allas’s infamous speed-enhancing equipment, or YuRia’s absolutely lethal instruments, when in the hands of a trained professional.

Now, there are other forms of EGO that are, in contrast, maybe more useful to a Fixer than Lobotomy EGO. Take, for instance, the Red Mist’s body armor. Sleek, dark, imposing- A crystallization of her will, hard to break through and enhancing to her already peak performance. Something sustained and self-made has little risk of corroding oneself, although it can shave precious minutes off your life if you aren’t careful with how you use your EGO. You are, after all, bludgeoning people to death with what could be described as an emanation of your fighting spirit. Damage to your EGO may as well be damage to your soul.

There’s also those sort of “single use” EGO manifestations seen from Limbus Company and the EGO pages used by the Library. These seem to have drastically enhanced effects compared to standard Lobotomy EGO. But, they’re bursts; Super moves from a fighting game. Decisive use of this EGO could turn the tides for even a rookie Fixer, but it’s unreliable as a tradeoff. You won’t always have the resources necessary to deploy Fluid Sac, and you could even risk corroding, since the EGO tends to be less “extracted” from the Abnormality and more “borrowed” from it. Sort of like�� Donning a mask of an Abnormality! Much more dangerous, with much more immediate short-term benefit.

In any case, I don’t think it’s really a good idea to say EGO is in general better or worse than Workshop equipment. It all has its ups and its downs. A lot of it will come down to the needs and preferences of the enduser. If you have the money to buy one, and are willing to take the risks associated, I don’t see why a Fixer shouldn’t at least experiment with Lobotomy EGO. But, if you think you’d prefer safer gear from a Tres-regulated Workshop, there’s always tons of good craftsmen out there waiting to sell to you. Think about what kind of work your Office usually does, and gear up accordingly. No need to rush to make any decisions.

Ishmael and her rope (1)

Some people saying Ishchun breaking the mirror worlds because she has the rope (TM) while hasn't been to the Great Lake, causing inconsistencies in the timeline. I do not necessarily agree nor disagree with this interpretation, but here is a post examining Ishmael IDs whether they could comply with her timeline, story, or canon event. Keep in mind that this is based on my personal reasonings and interpretations.

I. Compilation and division

Group 1: IDs that are *likely* to comply with the timeline of Ishmael went to the Great Lake, met Queequeg, grabbed onto her rope and coffin to survive when the Pequod crashed, worked various jobs and trying to stay alive so she can go kill Ahab later.

LCB Sinner Ishmael for obvious reason

Zwei Assoc. West Section 3 Ishmael: In chatter #3, Ishmael explicitly stated that she went Whaling in the past and will have to take revenge on that "bastard."

Shi Assoc. South Section 5 Ishmael: Ishmael took a lot of odd and dangerous jobs in this backstory, which maps perfectly to the period when she wanders around, trying to survive so she can hunt Ahab later. This is not as explicit as Zweimael, however.

LCCB Assistant Manager Ishmael: working in the LCCB is a plausible career for Ishmael to have in the period of her wandering. There is nothing else to prove that she had been Whaling though, apart from the rope (and we already consider this unreliable).

I am less certain about the 2 next ones, but I think we can still make a case that these 2 Ishmaels went to the Great Lake:

R Corp. 4th Pack Reindeer Ishmael: R Corp. Ishmael is...very strange. She wants to find more info about the old R Corp., and because of that, willing to become a Reindeer - the most torturous R Corp. pack to my knowledge - and going to the Library. I don't think she would go to such length just for simple curiosity. My personal theory is that Ahab is from the old R Corp., and this is Ishmael way to find out more about her then take her down. But of course, this is conjecture.

Liu Assoc. South Section 4 Ishmael: Although being a Liu Assoc. Fixer should fit into Ishmael's wandering years, this Ishmael is rather...lax. She seems more settled into the role of a Fixer than other IDs, giving me the impression that she isn't concerned about hunting Ahab, and thus, might have not gone to the Great Lake? But this is also just my personal impression.

Group 2: IDs that are *likely* not to comply with the stated timeline.

Lobotomy E.G.O::Sloshing Ishmael: Isn't she supposed to be hunting Ahab? Why does she suddenly want to liberate technology?

Edgar Family Butler Ishmael: She is another interesting case. Although she is said to be a drifting Fixer in the past (compliant to the timeline), she does not have any purpose before being taken in by the Edgar Family. Presumably if she did go Whaling, that part should be mentioned here, since it is significant enough. And if the thing with Ahab did happen, she shouldn't be purpose-less before then, her purpose should be hunting Ahab. This, plus the usage of the word "blind obsession", implies Butler Ishmael is in her Ahab-hunting phase but instead of hunting Ahab, it's serving the Edgar Family.

Molar Boatworks Fixer Ishmael: Her purpose is not to hunt Ahab now, it is to return to V Corp., which is also her home...Yeah this is not an Ishmael who specifically went to Pequod.

Kurokumo Clan Captain Ishmael: Um. Right. I think an Ahab equivalence existed in this mirror world. Them boarding the Pequod and then crashed most likely didn't happen though. She also seems very content and settled as a Kurokumo Captain.

Family Hierarch Candidate Ishmael: The whole reasons I have the chance to make this. Even though she said she has gone to the Great Lake to get the clue to immortality at the start, Carmen then interjects and says no she didn't. And then in her voiceline she said she got the water from Lethe.

I will close my eyes and say that this isn't supposed to make any sense. So it makes sense that it doesn't make any sense.

There is also The Pequod Captain Ishmael ID, which is a special case. For once, this is an ID without a visible rope on her sunset hair. She, however, do have ropes on her leg harpoon and harpoon harpoon, which is absent on Ahab's design. I consider this the rope(TM), since it should have no business there if it is just "of Ahab". It has to be "of Ishmael". And the rope "of Ishmael" is that rope(TM).

What does this mean? I can't be sure, but my immediate interpretation went like this.

Queequeg (or her equivalence) existed, met Ishmael, and died leaving her only the rope to mourn. However, whereas other Ishmaels put it on her sunset hair (the hair that Queequeg so dearly loved), Pequod Ishmael snaps the rope in half (or maybe someone else did...Queequeg perhaps?) and uses it as an instrument to fulfill her obsession (harpoon leg and harpoon harpoon). Queequeg's final and only true wish was for Ishmael to find her own way, but Pequod Ishmael, much like how she tramples on the rope, tramples upon that wish, and tread Ahab's path instead, losing herself (and Queequeg) in the said obsession.

II. Possible explanations

Now, even Ishmael in the mirror worlds that doesn't comply to the timeline has her rope. There are a few alternative explanations:

All the mirror worlds where she has the rope but didn't go to the Great Lake are all dreamt up (like Ishchun mirror world), and thus doesn't have to make sense

In the mirror worlds where she didn't go to Great Lake, she met Queequeg (or maybe someone else equally important) under different circumstances and got the rope under different circumstances. The said circumstances is of equivalent to Queequeg being swallowed by the Whale and left Ishmael only that rope to remember her by. In short, something similar but not the same happens for her to keep that rope.

She just finds a random rope fashionable idk. Why does a child of the prestigious Jia family wear a random rope? Maybe she is just making a fashion statement.

Right, so that is for IDs. We need to talk about EGOs, because there are many Ishmael EGOs that just don't have the rope. But that is for another time.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I have a theory about Hong Lu I haven't seen discussed so I was curious of your opinion on it.

As you're aware, there are a few identities where Hong Lu winds up in different jobs bc his grandmother nepo-babied him into different situations (like in the K Corp Class 3 Staff identity) and Hong Lu seems like a generally passive person that moreso allows to let the world happen around him as he rolls with whatever direction the tide takes him (terrible gloom pun intended, sorry).

Maybe I'm wrong, but with what we currently know about him I can't think of a wish that would be important enough for him to go into this whole job with the sinners and abandon his family and life so I've been theorizing his grandmother has a conservatorship or something similar over him and she signed his contract for a wish the family had instead.

Do you have any thoughts, critiques, or corrections for this? You're my favourite limbus blog, so I'm a bit excited to finally have a reason to send an ask in. :)

It's not unlikely for his family to be somehow involved in his employment at Limbus Company, but it is a little bit vague at the moment.

I'm gonna elaborate under a read more cause I got rambly. Also, spoilers from everything up to and including Intervallo 6.5.

We know from the recent Timekilling Time event that the reason Hong Lu isn't with his family right now is because he was told by his elders to explore and learn as much as possible. The way he describes it makes it fairly clear that him leaving his family home wasn't exactly his own choice, but rather something he's doing because he was told to.

This is however where things get a bit less clear. It's possible that his family sent him directly to Limbus Company, knowing that it would lead to him gathering a lot of experience. It's also possible that they just sent him out to do this on his own without much guidance, and when he came across Limbus Company it was his own wish for them to help him achieve the goal the family set out for him.

Identity-wise, it's important to note that the only Hong Lu identities that directly reference being put into the job by his family are once where he is working for Wings, that being K Corp and W Corp.

His Liu Identity also references his family, but doesn't make a direct connection between his spot at Liu and the influence of his elders, rather simply implying that he's unable to escape their influence in his position.

None of his Syndicate Identities really mention his family, which makes sense considering they're the least likely position that his elders would want him to have, but interestingly enough his other Association Identity, Dieci, doesn't reference his family either.

I think it's notable, since arguably his Dieci Identity would be the one where he's able to satiate his curiosity the most, and yet does not reference the idea of his family wanting that out of him at all. That could be potentially explained through the whole Dieci thing of removing their knowledge when they use it in exchange for combat prowess, especially since Hong Lu as a Key seems to be a lot more affected by that exchange, outright losing memories of where he is and why he's there upon spending his knowledge. It's not unlikely that this exchange might have led him to just. Forgetting about his family. Which would be fucking hilarious honestly.

Anyway, all that being said - Hong Lu's family is only ever directly involved when the position he ends up in has some form of... let's call it prestige attached to it, like that of a Wing's feather or an Association Fixer. On the other hand, they seem to be completely out of the picture when the position he ends up in is undesireable, like a Syndicate or low-grade Fixer Office.

This is where we have to consider the nature of Limbus Company as an entity. We know it's a large enough company to have considerable financial backing, sponsors, and be able to absorb other corporate entities like Moses' Fixer Office into itself. At the same time though, it is still almost entirely unknown to the wider world of the City, often not being taken seriously in the slightest by almost everyone.

Would Limbus Company be considered prestigious enough for Hong Lu's family to care to directly involve themselves in getting him the position? Or is it such a small scale entity that they don't care as long as Hong Lu is fulfilling the goal they gave him on his own?

Either way, his family and the orders they gave him are still likely to be his main reason for joining Limbus Company, it's just the matter of how deep their involvement actually goes.

I've got an idea for a liu zhigang fic (not sure if it's too generic though) also a kind platonic fic for jinwoo

Reader is jinwoo's twin/younger sibling (not as young as hus younger sister, maybe like a middle child) . After their fathers disappearance, Jinwoo tried to cover all the fees but it's just too much for one man to do (when he was still an e-ranker). While reader is more gifted (like in a special way that makes people want to scout her), was scouted by a guild in china and finally met liu zhigang.

long story short they dated, jinwoo suddenly became an s-ranker, reader wanting to introduce them at the meeting in america (the one where jinwoo first met liu zhigang), and after that is up to you. maybe something like both either acknowledging each other, or straight up have a rivalry

it can be focused on either the romantic part with zhigang, or the platonic part with jinwoo. either way i hope this idea makes sense (i whipped it up because i couldn't sleep (T_T))
