4. "With the rate uncles/aunts/grandparents/friends are buying stuff for you, you will be the most spoiled kid ever"

"Do you ever get the feeling that they're going to grow up as the most spoiled kids ever?"

Emma glances at August with her eyebrows raised, quietly puzzled. "What are you talking about?"

Technically, they should be getting coffee like the grown adults, friends-who-rarely-get-to-catch-up that they are, but since there is a distinct lack of free, unaccompanied time in both of their lives now, what they're actually doing is drinking their coffee at the outside tables of Granny's while their sister and daughter respectively entertain each other. Of course, it was clear within minutes that the girls had no intention of doing so - Apple is currently burying her hands in the potted plants, alone, while Cedar is nowhere to be seen, having long since wandered into the bowels of the diner.

That doesn't seem to bother August much, however, because he continues, undeterred: "You have possibly the largest extended family in town- how much stuff have people bought for your sister, Raven or Sparrow, and how long has it been since you've heard anyone saying no to them? Because I am related to considerably fewer people, and our house is still full of kids' stuff, and I know Belle has the same problem with Rosa and Gideon."

He...has a point, actually. Emma has long since matured past the point of being jealous, but that doesn't mean she's blind - children are protected and splurged on for in Storybrooke, especially children she knows. Apple is likely the best dressed little girl in town, and the way Henry tells it, Raven and Sparrow own just about every toy that makes noise. Nobody in her family will grow up wanting for attention, that's for sure.

Still, there's a difference between agreeing with August and telling him that out loud. "Come on, I'm sure it's not that bad-"

It's at that moment, as if summoned by her comment, that Cedar shows up on Granny's front step, like a little bushy haired apparition. The girl trots over to them with what looks like a cup of pudding, spoon included, in one hand and a small sandal in the other - she offers it to August with a miniature frown, shifting her weight off her bare foot. "Daddy, I los' m' shoe."

"Wow, a sentence I've never heard before," August deadpans, though he still lifts his daughter onto his knee with practiced ease, only gesturing to her other possession once he's done wrestling said shoe back in its place. "Where did you get that, kiddo?"

Cedar grins at him, the wide, gap-toothed smile of toddlers all over the world - there are already smears of chocolate around her mouth, which means she must have gotten more than a taste of her treat by now. "Grampa."

"Of course you did." He pats her back as she hops off his lap, then turns back to Emma with a look and a gesture that scream What did I tell you? for all to see.

For her part, Emma simply rolls her eyes. "Alright, you've made your point. Look, if it bothers you so much, why don't you tell everyone to stop buying her stuff?"

"Did your mother listen when you tried to do that?"

"Point taken." She mulls it over for a bit, watching the little figure bound away, then says, distractedly: "Does letting them be the most spoiled kids ever include allowing them to run with a spoon in their mouth?"

August follows her gaze, then stands up with a muffled curse and chases after his daughter before she falls on her face. Emma barely stifles her laughter, grateful that at least she's not still losing the argument - for a moment there, both father and child looked entirely too smug for her liking, which tends to be the only expression where they share an uncanny resemblance.

She just hopes Cedar will lose that trait as she grows up. She doesn't think she could bear it, if she had two Augusts to contend with.

My first impression of them

It was shock, actually, when she spoke. All we'd seen of her was her jumping and running all over the place and her outfit and the setting made me certain she'd have an american accent. I don't know why I was so certain, and it didn't matter at all, but it just made me jump lol. I found her intriguing and mysterious, but wasn't fully sold until the Henry kidnap scene. Like many, I thought she was going to be an eccentric villain. Then by 7x04 I was gone and she became my new favourite character after years of Zelena taking that spot.

8. Your favorite outfit of them

I think it was this one. I love long denim shirts and have owned several. I would totally wear that shirt/t-shirt combo.

16. A childhood headcanon

I have so many! But maybe my favourite is that in her loneliness she created Wonderland. I feel like I might have answered this before. But it seems very coincidental that she had a hat called 'Hatter' and a rabbit toy who she had tea parties with and then ended up doing the same thing in Wonderland. It's implied by Gothel that nymphs have something to do with the creation of realms, and then there's the fact that she's next in line to be mother nature and that she created life in the form of a troll. I reckon she travelled there in her dreams and daydreams, until it became real and she accidentally created Wonderland II without realising.

In a film you like, what's a stupid decision in the narrative that you despise?

The first thing that comes to mind definitely is the ending of The Breakfast Club. I loooooooove that movie to bits. It's so good. And then Allison gets a make-over. Why? WHY? AND THEN THEY DO THE SAME THING IN THE FACULTY TO ME AGAIN WITH STOKELY!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Oh no, the loner girl wearing dark clothes found her flowery self and has a crush. She's fixed now. I'm not saying nobody could ever change their style. Claire and Allison could have played around with make-up, make it a two way street (or even include the whole group, playing with image and appearance). But the way it's only presented at the end is... evil

4. A film you agree is not "good", but holds special sentimental value. (Share the reason if you feel like it.)

hmmmmm... I enjoy a lot of "not good" films anyway. So, yeah, I do agree that Austin Powers in Goldmember wasn't anything we needed. The sequels can't compare to the first and while entertaining, I wouldn't call it good. Hardly recommend to anybody out of the blue. BUT I saw it in theatres back in the day with a friend from uni I rarely spend time with alone. It was one of the few occassions it was just us. In front of us two guys laughed when in the beginning the location plops up as "Utah" and so "Utah, ahahahaha" became a joke between us. I haven't talked to this person in well over ten years and I doubt we'll ever meet again. But this film is a cherished memory in that regard. (Well, she's also the one who sat next to me watching Brokeback Mountain, but that is a very good movie. XD )

It happens a lot. Films are more fun with other people around to share. Can't think of a better example right now, although I'm sure there's more. Especially films I liked as a kid and overlooked so many flaws. Wait, now I'm wondering if watching terrible, terrible films, because of that one acting face you enjoy, would fall under "sentimental value". This list would be so long. (Starting with the extra bad film Dark House.) Nah, that's a thirst thing, I guess...

10. A remake you wish would happent for whatever reason.

I desperately need somebody to take another look at Sucker Punch and make it the kick-ass bizarre adventure for bodily autonomy and independence it should be. So, whenever I hear people talking that movie is utter shit, I will disagree and point out the various great ideas and how complex the character connections can be. The moment fanboys come out of hiding calling it the one true feminist down-with-patriarchy film, I need to scream a lot.

Some say you either love or hate the movie, but I do neither. I'm exactly on the fence. And I think that's terrible, because that film could actually be pure greatness. We need to give it another shot and the script needs women to work with it. The camera needs an extra female lense. (I say that as a lesbian who is at times fed by the male gaze, ngl.) We need a better focus and the male characters can't be pulling all the strings and move the plot by mere existence (I get the women being dolls is a theme, but they need more clear agency and be the driving force).

The one thing that nobody should ever dispute though is the cast of this film. I don't know how to imrpove that in a remake.

2. @ceilings-plaster - one of the best blogs for gif sets that look like they were sent by god; forget trudging through endless gifsets that weren’t made well, this is the blog for the best ones!! in addition to that, the tagging system is wonderful [and so is the blog runner hiiiii darling]

3. @/mirosango - in all my years of reading fanfic [ivylakes on ao3 btw!], i’ve never read such beautiful and gut wrenching as the kind penned by this blog. i’m not one for notifications, but i specifically subscribed to them because every chapter is too good to miss.

4. @lizardthelizard - if you’re an august booth girlie in any capacity, whether it be his character or those connected to him, you need to waltz on over to this blog; from incredibly penned analysis to a deeper look into one of the most complex characters in this show, there’s something for everyone. also, libby is a light in this cold dark world 💡

28. “Wanna talk about it later? I will make time.”

Pierrot already felt the stifling air before Malvina even stepped inside, bringing in her general warmth with. Except, alas, it could hardly be called just warmth; the heat was near boiling, the man shielding his eyes as he watched his dear wife storm past him.

“I suppose things didn’t work out at Pinocchio’s?” he asked, tone calm as ever.

Malvina’s head whipped around to where he sat, her scowl softening a little. She took a deep breath and exhaled. Pierrot’s soft smile never faded as he watched the glow fade and he leaned over the table. “What happened, my dear?”

“Well as one can guess, she showed up.” the ex-fae huffed, her shoulders tensing once more. As a scowl returned to her face she scoffed, shaking her head as she moved away from the table. “No I can’t deal with this right now.”

Pierrot nodded quietly. “Would you like to talk about it later? I will make time.”

He was sure she had turned around by the time he returned to his lyre, casting a glance her way and seeing the protest already rising in her expression before she could even speak it.

“Oh my soul, you don’t have to-”

“Nope, it’s too late, it’s already written down and scheduled.” he cut in almost playfully so, “You cannot escape this, my moonflower.”

“It’s not necessary.” Malvina continued to protest softly.

“But it is to me.” Pierrot countered, setting the instrument down next to him. He stood up and walked towards her, taking her hands in his, and massaging the top of her knuckles soothingly. “You and I both know what little favours bottling up will do.”

Malvina hummed in response, the bard feeling her gently squeeze his hands in response. “It could have all gone so well if she just didn’t stop by.”

“You know Pinocchio wouldn’t leave her out of this as much as I do. She still means a lot to him even now.” he pointed out, hearing Malvina let out a sigh. He smiled. He knew how much she loved that boy, even now. There was never any denying that. “At least it’s over now, right?”

“That’s true.”

“Come, my dear. Perhaps a walk to ease your grievances for a while?”

Malvina grimaced. “I’d rather rest for now, Pierrot.”

“Then might I offer you some entertainment? I’ve been working on a new piece, should my audience be willing to hear it.”

The fae smiled, softly so. “You know I can’t ever say no to that.”

Pierrot’s grin widened as he pulled the fae close and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. “Then sit back as a host you with a meal and brew and the song of my lyre.” he murmured, hearing her hum softly in response.

7. not feeling seen as they had hoped

Eugene is six and a half when he figures out what jealousy is.

Before, he'd thought it was stuff for grownups. When the minstrels come to town and sing love stories, the ones Daria loves so much, the only jealous characters are angry lovers - the lady who can't marry a bandit, the boy who lost the mermaid queen. That's all he knew before, and none of that was any business of his.

He'd guessed it made sense. He's too young to understand lovers, his sister says so, and he's not jealous of anyone. He wasn't even jealous when his brother was born, because he loves Fabian, and he loves not being the baby of the house any longer. He'd thought that would be it for a long while.

That was before, though. Then, the beach happens, and suddenly, he's jealous all the time.

He's jealous of how the other boys didn't have to miss school for even a day, nevermind weeks, and don't need to scramble to catch up with work. He's jealous of how light their heads must feel, not pounding, not still wrapped in bandages that make them itch like a hand in an anthill. He's jealous of those who don't receive so many pitying looks, the looks for the boy who got himself in trouble one time too many and now has to heal from it.

But mostly, he's jealous of one boy in particular, the one that isn't a boy at all, just a puppet. The one they all went to that stupid beach to fool, and who almost got himself taken by guards, and yet is running around without a scratch, and even came to visit Eugene in his sickbed even though no one else did.

Eugene hates him. It's stupid, because he should only hate himself - Pinocchio didn't do anything they didn't do to him first, which is only fair, their father always says so - but it's hard to be reasonable when his wound hurts so bad he's almost crying, and that's awful, because Eugene hates crying, so he hates Pinocchio, too. He hates Pinocchio as much as he wants to be seen by him, if not more.

But Pinocchio doesn't notice. He's still cheerful and nice, and he says hello and goodbye like they're the best of friends, but that's not true. Pinocchio already has a best friend, and he drinks in every word Lampwick says - they're constantly whispering and laughing to each other, and the teacher scolds them at least once a week, but that won't do anything. Pinocchio's the best in the class now, no grownup will mistreat him at school, even if he's sharing secrets at the back of the class.

Lampwick gets all the attention Eugene wants and doesn't have, so he guesses he's jealous of Lampwick, as well - fat lot of good that it does him, honestly. Lampwick is noisy and unbearable, and yet he receives the love and hears the secrets, but there's nothing Eugene can do about it, even if he hates feeling this useless. After all, it's not like things could change out of nowhere, right?

No, he's going to be stuck in this jealousy forever and ever, he's sure of it.

2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)

It was actually before she even appeared on the show. As a big fan of Wicked the Musical I was so freaking elated and excited about the Wicked Witch being on the show. I thought they were gonna do the Wicked the Musical storyline, but then I was so shocked when she spoke, and she was this sassy snob, who ended up making me laugh out loud with her lines. And even though she wasn't what I was expecting, I immediately dug this iteration of the character. I couldn't wait for each episode, just to see her, because she gave me that feeling you get when there's a character on screen that makes you feel euphoric just to watch them. Zelena was my drug xD. I still get that feeling, but not as intensely. I still very much love her though! It also helped that I was immediately attracted to her. The green skin did not deter me, but it never had for Elphaba either tehe.

5. My favorite ship of them

Wicked Cricket! I was so happy when they got to interact in s6 and Archie couldn't help but psychoanalyse her. I love psychoanalysing characters, and I think it could be interesting to see Archie try to understand her, while helping her to react less chaotically to things. And it'd be good for her to finally have someone listen to how she feels about things and see her pov. And maybe to talk about her childhood too, because that was hella messed up of her father! I just love the potential they have!

21. When do you think they were at their happiest?

Anytime with her daughter. Family means the world to her, to the point where she obsessed over a sister she never met for over 28 years. I think it all stemmed from her likely having a loving relationship with her adoptive mum and being starved of any love once she died early on. I remember at the end of 'Chosen', she said that any happiness she had started with Robin.

Zelena seemed to have been a surprisingly good mum to Robin, while raising her. I think that Robin is just more 'Zelena's child' than she might like to admit and was a bit stubborn and chaotic, and Zelena seems to have been pretty strict, so things were likely rocky for them during that time. And then there was the stress of the being part of the Resistance when they moved to the NEF. So, if I had to choose a point in her life, it'd probably be post-s7 curse, where she likely had a more stable mother-daughter relationship with Robin and continued to have a pretty great one with her sister. I imagine she'd be happy with Chad too. Though the dude hasn't done anything wrong, I'm not too keen on him because we didn't get to know him. But he makes her happy and they have cute nicknames for each other!

30. The funniest scene they had?

The first one that comes to mind is her running over the black fairy with her car, though I'm sure there are others that might beat that that I'm totally blanking on.
