The words erode him from within like rot through fruit. He’s not alone, he has powers mortals could only dream of having a speck of, he has his father, brothers and duties-

He has Wukong’s friendship. Or well, he had it. 

Nezha blinks and suddenly he sees Xiaotian, MK, Wukong and Macaque’s son, their legacy, the star to their sun and moon, Nezha’s-

“-friend, I couldn’t ask for more!”

Wukong was wrong.

He knows what he’s fighting for now.

Through the blinding glow of Li Jing’s attack, a flurry of pink lotus petals explodes in retaliation.

Gritting his teeth, Nezha’s arms trembled under his shield. He takes one step forward, then another, and another-

His shield shatters, he takes two steps back. He barely raises his spear in time to block his father’s next blow. The shaft of his weapon is molten lava in his palms. 

He loses his spear first. Then most of his armor, then his wheels, ah he hasn’t walked in a while, with how shaky his legs are he’s surprised he’s still upright-

Then he’s not. His father’s wrath rumbles in warning. What was one more act of defiance?

And so Nezha, Third Lotus Prince, crawls up those final steps and uses the last of his strength to grab the Pagoda-Wielding General’s fluttering cape.

You ever think about how badass and layered this scene is?

Just took off the torture crown like it was nothing and then spun said torture crown on his finger like it didn’t cause severe pain.

Like damn everytime I see it I think about how he is basically subtly poking at Wukong being like “Haha look how easily I can take it off. Aww you couldn’t take yours off? Suck to be you.” And then flaunts the one thing that can weaken him to the point that he was on the ground unable to get up like it’s nothing.

He just slides the damn thing off. Already he’s saying that he can do something that was physically impossible for Wukong to do.

It’s a subtle superiority move but every time I see it, it’s bone chilling.

Lmk ss edits + headcanons, Part 6 (Azure Lion, Peng, Yellowtusk)

(I originally made my own design of Azure and Yellowtusk but wasn't quite happy with how they turned out so I scrapped them, the designs for those two I used in these edits were made by @/erraday_ on twt, with a few minor changes, but Peng's design is my own :) )

- He/Him

- Pansexual

- Snores so loud, it's insane, Yellowtusk once thought there was an earthquake

- Feels bad whenever he's steps on a ladybug, butterfly etc

- Gives everyone and everything giant bear hugs because he thinks if Yellowtusk can take it, so can everyone else (They cannot)

- Mei once gave him catnip as a joke and he went fucking feral, he's not allowed near catnip anymore

- His hair/fur is actually very soft and curly

- Thought he saw an old friend while out in public and hugged them, it was a stranger

- Wakes up Yellowtusk in the middle of the night to ask stupid questions

- The Brotherhood asked to hear his roar but he got really nervous last second and it ended up being really meek, they never let him forget it

- Coughed up a hairball once and Peng refuses to let him live it down

- Has eaten cat food before and would do it again

- Cannot do the splits and is too scared to try

- Gets really confused by modern slang, MK and Mei abuse the hell out of it because it's funny

- Whenever he's rough housing with people he accidentally hits a bit too hard

- Whenever he walks past anyone playing a game that involves a ball (football, basketball, netball, etc) he somehow always ends up getting hit in the head with it

- If he wasn't sealed away and got a chance to babysit Redson as a kid he wouldn't know what the fuck to do and would be really awkward cause he doesn't know how to interact with children, he'd be able to bond with Redson better when he becomes a teenager though

- No one gossips with him because he always ends up unintentionally outing someone about something

- Ate moldy food once by accident and freaked out, he was absolutely disgusted

- Hates horror movies but loves slashers

- Drinks mouthwash

- Smells like catnip (trust me guys)

- Love language is words of affirmation

- Has horrible bed head, his mane gets tangled really easily and he tosses around a lot at night so his mane takes hours to brush out

- Stole food from Wukong's private stash for several months when the Brotherhood was all still together, Wukong still doesn't know

- Wukong gave them cooked chicken once as a joke but he actually liked it

- Constantly argues with Wukong about Macaque not being able to hold his own, yes it got physical

- Their wings have a bunch of scars from the amount of weapons and shit they block with them. Has to consistently clean their wings in order to keep them from getting too damaged, yes this includes softening and preening his feathers

- If they weren't sealed away and got a chance to babysit Redson as a kid they would tape him to the wall like that one meme and call it a day

- Bit off a person's finger once just to see if they could

- Doesn't shop, just steals

- "I hate you so fucking much" as he's handing the person a gift

-  Tried to draw on Wukong's face once but got wacked with his tail

- Absolutely HATES beetroot, will actually gag if he smells it

- Kicks over kids sand castles at the beach

- Can't stand small buzzing sounds

- "I'm not that competitive" is that competitive

- Claims you can trust them with anything but will snitch the second they know it will benefit them

- Probably threatened to eat someone's baby once

- Goes to playgrounds to trip kids

- Has tried sleeping upside down like a bat multiple times

- Hardcore wine aunt vibes

- Had a bunch of ducklings accidently imprinted to him and they followed Peng for hours

- Jokingly pushed Azure off a cliff once then remembered they're the only member of the Camel Ridge Trio that can fly

- They have full on concerts at like 3 am, has woken up Azure on multiple occasions

- Is the calmest one in the Brotherhood

- He uses Peng's head as an armrest sometimes

- He and DBK were actually quite close, he knew and accepted that DBK was in love with a celestial but was very surprised to see they ended up having a child

- Very poor eyesight but doesn't like wearing his glasses because Peng made a joke about them once saying he looked like a grandma

- Uses ":3" and ":D"

- Loves soap opera's

- Hates seafood

- Peng once tricked him into eating fish nuggets once and he still hasn't fully forgiven them

- If he wasn't sealed away and got a chance to babysit Redson as a kid he would definitely be the most responsible one, and probably Redson's favourite uncle

- Eats a snack then forgets he ate it and will bet frustrated when he can't find it

- The therapist of the Camel Ridge Trio, and probably of the whole Brotherhood in the past as well

- Was the only one who felt bad about imprisoning the Demon Bull Family since he and DBK were very close

- He also reprimanded Peng for when they pinned and scratched Redson with their claws after they left the Demon Bull Palace (he's the protective uncle, trust me guys)

- Hates getting hiccups, he despises the feeling and it gives him heartburn

- Wakes up at ungodly hours just to raid the fridge

- Heard a story about a bug crawling in someone's ear while they slept and has worn earplugs to bed ever since

- Loves apples

- Smells like Lilies

- Love language is gift giving

- Is really big on safety, would be the type of person to make sure everyone is wearing their seat belts before the car is even turned on

- Actually really good at cooking

- Makes the best chocolate chip pancakes ever

- Is the kind of person who assumes everyone tells eachother everything and accidently exposes someone because he thought everyone else knew about it already

- Always hears things wrong but doesn't wanna ask anyone to repeat themselves

- Has the most elegant ass handwriting you will ever see, somehow

- The peacemaker of the Brotherhood,  they all would've disbanded way sooner if it wasn't for him

- Uses his trunk as a snorkle when swimming or sleeping underwater (elephants actually do this irl, I just thought it was cute)

Okay I love anon's sass and they should be a monkey's lawyer or spokesperson. perfect comedy. second, I like how this supports the idea that Macaque retained more monkey habits (blub was lit eating a banana last season and swinging by the tail) while Wukong evolved to try and match the humans, just like in his origin story. which both makes the idea of people calling him a beast that needs to be collared insane while also making it understandable why Wukong still keeps fighting that old image of him by holding back on his violence because if his mannerisms and gentle way of speaking with humans (or MK at least, he's not super social) won't do it then his strength seems to unravel all that progress to others. third uh, Macaque would totally make fun of Wukong for using a fork and drinking tea pinky out. And a le S5 Ep7 "no don't bother offering me to live in a real house." and idk if he means it. he had a temporary dojo but it was full of weapons not a TV. also. he kinda infiltrated Wukong's house and chilled on a couch with a monkey. is that tree branch soft enough boi or do we need to bring in harlow's monkey experiment logic. you need something soft oh my god is that why he doesn't get rid of the baby monkeys-

Lisyerally since Wukong’s birth, Heaven has looked at him like he is something wild and untamed (which makes sense given he is the embodiment of the untamed mind). but even when he plays by Heaven’s rules (the best he can) they still look down on him

one of his major desires was to be acknowledged and respected and Heaven always refused. it’s not until the end of jttw where they’re basically forced to

but even then Heaven (which in jttw, was meant to represent the very flawed bureaucracy of the Chinese government) cannot see Wukong as someone who is their equal post his redemption because of his power and impulsiveness and rather keep him under the label of a threat. and Wukong, to prove to them that he’s changed, helps out with trouble when he can and keeps a distance because maybe then they will finally respect him

but! turns out they will never be completely satisfied unless they have Wukong under their whims (as seen in 5x02) because he is too unpredictable for them :)

LMK Memory Scroll / Bull Family

I want to post my thoughts on what went on in the memory scroll for the Bull Family.

So to begin, is to go over what the Scroll of Memory is.

The Scroll of Memory is an ancient artifact created from magical bamboo planks from the Underworld. It was designed to be a prison for its captives as they were forced to relive their past misdeeds, making them relive the sinful parts of their past.

For the Bull Family, they were in the scroll for a while and we don't see what they went through inside. The scroll is meant to make them relive misdeeds as a form of punishment.

There is also the question, the scroll would show them mostly memories they would actually feel bad for I mean there are people that do bad things but not regret it. So it would not really affect them. Remember these are demons doing bad things like trying to conquer the world and terrorizing innocent people is just part of the plan. So for demons, it would be more personal things.

DBK

For him, it could be a number of things he is a demon king he has probably done a lot of bad things. One thing he has done wrong that would leave a bad memory for the scroll to use would be when he attacked the village and Wukong sealed him under the mountain.

But if the scroll is using things that they themselves consider sinful like deep regret filled memories then.... I have a few ideas

As a father and husband he was sadly absent for 500 years there must be regret and when he realized he was a bit too emotionally distant from his son. he most likely has regret as being unable to really help his son control the samadi fire and make him go through a risky ritual. He most likely regrets the words and actions he said and did as he was possessed by LBD. Finally, with the battle against his former sworn brothers, his wife took a hit for him and he was captured making him leave his son to fend for himself.

The former Celestial: Princess Iron Fan a sinful action she did in their universe by celestial standards is she left her realm for a demon king. She left her station for the Bull King to join him in conquering the world.

She most likely has many regrets that have memories that the scroll could use. Feeling helpless as your husband is imprisoned. She may have made some tough choices over the 500 years leading a kingdom and raising her son. Her emotional distancing from her son she can see more that it left scars. Red Sons' early childhood and being unable to help him. If you look back at the ritual even though her son and husband are there she is not. Because the fire would have burned her. Even though she loved Bull King she must have had people she cared for in the celestial realm and left them behind never to see them again. During the fight with the tree she was captured but Tusk and when she was caught she was unable to help her husband and son.

Red Son

I can't really think of anything he himself has done that would be considered sinful and have affected him the closest thing would be the damage he did when he had the Samadhi Fire.

He probably has the most personal regret even though he should have too. The feeling of being unable to meet demon royalty expectations. During his father's imprisonment, he was unable to help until 500 years later. Even though he did not know he had the samadhi fire until later in season 3 he most likely had memories of the destruction by his red jack pattern on the back (bottom right image.)

"What do you think of the Ink Scroll arc"

I absolutely stinking loved it.

Now here's the essay you ask for (or didn't, I just want to write an essay)

1. Love the foreshadowing/self awareness. Ex. When MK says "Maybe this the part of our journey where things get DARKEE" the poor boy- also love how the word Journey was used, foreshadowing how it was about the Journey to the West

2. Everyone had good arcs, except Pigsy? Like, MK beautiful, Meis opposite nature to Ao Lie, lovely, Sandy fighting the monster allegations, been his trauma since the beginning (when he references he's changed since meeting Pigsy last), showcasing the difference between Tang and Tripitaka qns for Tang to get more development?! Woo!!! But Pigsy?? Having the same plot/character development of Sandy, where being a monster doesn't matter Yada Yada Yada, it just didn't make sense.

There was no part beforehand where Pigsy EVER questioned that part of him, unlike Sandy who's been afraid of hurting someone, yes I enjoyed the episode, the Cook references from previous (and also Freenoodle crumbs) were amazing. What I wish they had done was something like Pigsy questioning his family, or chosen family in this case. THEY EVEN WENTOF THEIR WAY TO MAKE THE "MONKEY KINGS NOT MY DAD PIGSY IS" MOMENT. Like- I just Pigys arc was more family/friend centered, definitely would compliment whatever jumbo shrimp mess MK had going on

3. Talking bout MK- the trauma and angst were GORGEOUS we love it. My boy been through so much. And we learned more of his past?! The theorists were going CRAZY. Love the Sunburst and Soysauce moment, MMMMMMMM, this boy needs to stop trusting people so quickly oh my gosh AZURE WHEN I CATCH YOU-

4. Really good villain. Love how they went with a villain who thought HE was the hero, and main character I guess lol. Was he a turned villain? Yes but he was a good one! Kinda wish the foreshadowing was better, instead of that one episode where Tang just watched and realized it. He's a complex character, who just wanted to help people, and yeah his ambition wasn't even bad, the Jade Emperor isn't great even, but he took it too far

5. Great job yall, you guys made a character everyone hates, Peng, Revalis brother from another mother

6. Yellow Tusk was ehhh, wish we saw more of his character, seemed interesting, loved his loyalty

7. Now LMK is very special from other shows I've watched he'd because well, I'm willing to rewatch many episodes, even if I know what will happen, I tend to not rematch ANYTHING because of this problem, but LMK is just different. For some reason the Scroll arc is the exception, I like it, but for some reason I don't see myself rewarching it, don't know why

8. Ink MK was a beloved, his voice?! Design?!? DIALOG AND SPEECH PATTERN!?!? BRILLIANT. really love all Ink people moments, mostly just Ink MK, and Wukong.

9. Glad Wukong got development, man is facing the consequences of his actions and its really getting him, I'm glad he's getting really good development.

10. Master Subodhi. Do I need to say more?! Loved him dearly. Wish he and Wukong remet. :( liked his character very much, I like how he wasn't even real in the Scroll and still had omniscient abilities. My only question was what else did he know?! On that note, is anyone going to talk about how the girl is just, like immortal?! The Acolyte as yall call her. Now I don't think Subodhi just GIVES out immortality, I feel like he saves it for special people, like Wukong, no I have theories and headcannons for her but that's another day.

Also I'm a suckered for any JTTW character appearance. LMK GIVE ME ERLANG SHEN, GOLD STAR OF VENUS, GUANYIN, ANY OF NEZHAS BROTHERS, AND MY LUFE IS YOURSSSSS

11. The only thing I can think of left is how in the world did the Scroll worked?!? Like, it didn't teleport them to the past, I've been making a simulator almost? But then why does the characters inside feel so real, and how did Wukong trap Peng and Yellow Tusk, and where and hwt have they been doing?! AND HOW DOES THE OMNISCIENT POWER OF SUBHODI WORK. MAN CANT HAVE THAT MUCH PLOT REASONS POWER. AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE HOW DID THEY GET THE OLD PILGRIMS WEAPONS LAST TIME I CHECKED TRIPITAKAAS STAFF WSS IN WUKONGS CAVE
