writing chapter 5 of 'the moon will sing'? its more likely than you think

featuring: a flashback to when Danny was 14, dead, and hanging out with Jason in the Ghost Zone before Jason was revived (and Danny's life ended a third time).

“Y’fingers are fuckin’ cold.” Jason grumbles, his ear twitching against Danny’s hand. He says this almost every single time Danny comes to visit, and he does nothing to push him away.

Danny grins and giggles—not giggles, actually, he’s not juvenile, he chuckles—wetly. Joy-tinged grief warbling in the back of his throat, threatening to suffocate him. He closes his eyes as a fresh wave of tears hits him and pools down his face.

Banshees are mournful creatures, and most of them, he’s discovered, are Realms-born more often than not. Spirits that were never alive in the first place, and designated with grief in their chest for one thing or another.

Banshees that were once alive, like him, are rare. For good reason, Danny thinks, this grief is maddening on the worst of days.

“Tell me t’stop then,” Danny says when he finds his voice, whispering and thick with tears. Voice cracking and heavy. He clears his throat quietly to try and chase the sound away. Jason Jason Jason Jason, his core sighs, purrs contently.

You’re here you’re here you’re here, the back of his mind chants. Danny drains his hand away from Jason’s ear and trails it down his candle-warm cheek. He hasn’t worn the Robin mask since Danny found him, and is he thankful for it. The black, mask-like markings underneath are soft as velvet under his fingers.

Jay grumbles again, brows furrowing to match the frown tilting his mouth downwards. His talon-fingers tighten around the front of Danny’s shirt, unrelenting and unreleasing, thin and sharp like the Beldam’s. The legs tangled around Danny’s tighten up, trapping him in place more than they already are. “No.”

Danny grins wide, wider than what should be humanly possible. He swells and swells, the one hand that still has skin on it curls loosely. Danny presses his knuckles lightly against Jason’s throat and feels it jump, “Then shut up ‘bout it.”

Danny Danny Danny Danny, Danny feels Jason’s core hum, and he’s not sure what to do about it other than wish he could crawl under his skin and stay there with him. He drops his hands and curls them tight to the front of Jason’s shirt too.

That ask from the other day got me thinking about her again. This is the mother of X'vahl's children, M'likki as she would've looked when he met her.

I kind of wonder how ReTi would work if Tifa hates Shinra so much for what happened to her hometown. I suppose in an AU where Tifa had left Midgar for work and she never witnessed what happened at the Nibelheim reactor in person. Also poor Cloud perishes with Zack in the ambush so nobody ever told her. She doesn't join Avalanche and maybe even joins the Turks because of Reno?

I mean sure, you can have an AU like that, for example. Turk!Tifa is a pretty hot idea, whether she's with them sincerely or infiltrating them for Avalanche~

If you'd like canon examples on why Tifa could warm up to Reno tho, Rebirth and Before Crisis and Advent Children give us some good crumbs. Like Rebirth+BC info about the Nibelheim incident hint that Reno and Rude just may have been the ones who saved Tifa and brought her to Corel. Then there's Aerith's speech in Rebirth about forgiveness and releasing anger being true strength, right after the trials made them relive what Shinra had done to them and her soft talk with Tseng. So, make friends with the Turks to defeat Sephiroth 😎

Most ReTi fics are set around Advent Children era tho, since Tifa is shown to be very friendly to Reno and Rude in that. Tifa seems to have it in her to be friends with the Turks, and really the parts of Shinra she hates are the same that also put the Turks through shit in Before Crisis (Shinra Sr, Heidegger, Scarlet, Hojo).

With shipping I think it's supposed to be about fun and games and I just like both those characters separately and think putting them together creates fun scenarios to play with 😌

I just discovered something while on my daily route, I noticed this island at the abandoned fanatic wisher camp got expanded in 1.5!

Now, for those that are wondering why this is important, it has been hinted in the past few seasons with NPC talking about this valley, and how there is a myth about a giant serpent in the Serpentine Ruins, and the history of the Fanatic Wishers war against stylists of Florawish and Stoneville.

This change could mean that chances that the main story will take Nikki and Momo to the Serpentine Ruins is much higher than before!

Anyway, this is just my theory.

If you've been following the Aaron lore bits I've been posting, you probably know already that he's an #influencer, mainly doing clickbaity video content. Though not famous on Hollywood levels, he has a bit of a reach, so even some of my OC's who don't personally know him in-universe, know him on social media.

Emilio: (regretfully) personally knows him, and while he claims he isn't following him anywhere, he lurks on ALL of his accounts and regularly keeps up with his content, steering a bit into hate-watch direction tbh (and ofc to be able to confirm if Aaron is shittalking him in storytime videos)

Vale: ofc knows him bc they're family, even was the one suggesting him to start streaming (while not actually thinking he'd take his suggestion fr), silently supports him every now and then if he remembers to log in.

Luca: also knows him IRL, may even appear in some of his posts and stuff. He also follows and supports his content pretty regularly.

Sharon: knows him from school and is quite surprised that this nerdy kid managed to lowkey blow up, doesn't much keep up with him tho.

Gina, Devyn: don't know him IRL, but they actually like and watch his content every now and then.

Kaia: only knows of him online, but has no opinion of him bc she doesn't watch his content.

Maggie: got to know him IRL bc they got close online, and they both create content together regularly, appears pretty often in his videos, which helps her with promoting her pixel art account + her (semi-jokesy) OnlyFans.

i have not been able to stop thinking about emile babstd since i read it. at what point does is take place in the canon timeline? is there any fall out afterwards?

i’m sorry for that LMAO it really does just settle into the brain like a worm huh?? emile has his metal arm already, so it’s after the war with hybern because that’s when emile makes a very brash, very bold attempt on eris’s life and eris is forced to cut his arm off to assert dominance. it’s also after his marriage to adonia. i was going to say it could take place post-marriage, pre-lucien exile, but i think the panicked haste eris has in protecting emile entirely from the consequences is indicative of his panic in losing another brother + eris worries in that moment that emile has killed adonia, which means the affair between her and marius has to have started already. i’d say probably about a decade or two into the aftermath of silas/ronan dying and lucien defecting to spring!

the fallout is very much minimized by eris pinning the death on one of the thorniest nobles in emile’s faction. (emile’s specifically to reduce this issue for himself and as like a … subtle sort of consequence. one that emile wouldn’t be able to turn entirely away from but that didn’t blow back on him at all.) beron doesn’t have the male executed because then he’d risk the commonfolk finding out why, questioning such an extreme response, speculating on his attachment, etc. so he instead dispatches an assassin to stage a suicide. (probably emile because that’s largely his function.) there’s no hiding what happened from the servants and the bed slaves and the upper nobility though, so beron has to make a show of treating the bed slaves favorably—showing the aristos that this was just the dealings of a violent, ill-adjusted male and no reflection of any real threat posed to the bed slaves.

the topic is never quite dinner conversation, mostly out of respect for amalia, but carmine especially brings it up amongst the brothers when their mother isn’t around and even offers it up as a bit of intrigue/gossip to those of the nobility who aren’t yet privy to the scandal. eris lets this happen again as a lowstakes consequence for emile. with a bit of drink in her, adonia eventually speaks to carmine of her disdain for what happened (mostly because she looks down on bed slaves and whores in general) and maybe even gently rebukes him for bringing it up so often. it is very, very odd that emile lets her do this, but he’s been better of late. less physical. more withdrawn. which is strange, but kind of nice. adonia has found herself—hoping isn’t the wrong word for it, but it is too strong for what she does after emile kills iphigenia. it isn’t long before the passage of time begins to dull the memory and the hostility between emile and eris renews, though. emile is back to his normal self within two or so months. beron has long since found a new favorite to occupy himself with. iphigenia is probably never spoken by name again after the novelty of her fate wears off.

I desperately need to know the lore of his heartbreak with his first love (pls? <3)

Despite me not writing hardly at all anymore, I do happen to have a sort of half stream-of-consciousness half narrative thing that I wrote about this exact subject from a while ago. I'm going to put it under a cut though because I get super self-conscious about my writing and also it's like... kind of long? (Also ty for allowing me to lore-dump ♡)

Four summers had passed since he left his tribe's lands as X'vahl wandered the area putting the survival skills his father had taught him to good use. One day he made camp alongside a river, intending to only stay there for a short while. A few days later he woke to a spear aimed at his throat and a young miqo'te woman on the other end of it. She informed him he was on her people's land, and he needed to leave or she would kill him. Being only 18 summers old he told her that she was beautiful, and he would be happy to die by her hand. This, by some divine providence, did not get him murdered on the spot. Instead, she laid down her spear, perhaps out of pity, and introduced herself as M'likki Trais, a daughter of the M tribe. X'vahl was instantly smitten with her and before she left, asked if she would visit him again. She told him no.

      Two days later, M'likki returned. She claimed it was to see if he had left, but in truth, she found him fascinating. He found her beautiful. She returned the next day, and he made her dinner from the fish he caught earlier that morning. She returned the day after that, and he played her a song he had overheard a traveler singing on his own journey. She soon found herself enjoying her time with him. She enjoyed her time with him so much she spent the night with him. Then she spent another night with him. Each morning she'd return home, only to find her way back to his camp around sundown. He told her he was falling in love with her, she said she thought she might feel the same.

      One evening M'likki didn't return to his camp at sundown. He began to worry if he had done something wrong. She didn't return the next evening either. He began to worry if something had happened to her. Finally after a month had passed, she returned. She looked exhausted. Worried, he asked what happened. She hesitated before telling him she was with child… his child. It was as if everything in the world came to a sudden stop upon hearing this news. Unexpected, but not unwelcome, X'vahl came crashing back to reality, he was overjoyed to hear the news and he told her as much. She did not tell him she was terrified. She did not stay the night that night. She did, however return the next day. She told him she had a plan. She would lay with her tribe's Nuhn so as not to arouse suspicion when she started showing. X'vahl did not like this plan, but M'likki told him that after she gave birth they could go away together. She did not want to have this child without the aid of the tribe, and more importantly, her mother and sisters, during childbirth. Reluctantly, X'vahl agreed. Over the next several months her visits to his camp became unpredictable. X'vahl assumed that the tribe was looking after her as it was probably getting harder for her to hunt now. Though every time she did return he grew more and more excited at the idea that he was going to be a father.

      After a period of a couple weeks of M'likki not visiting she returned and with her she had two infants in her arms. She had given birth to twins, a boy and a girl. She told X'vahl she had given their son the name M'raiel and their daughter M'vahren. She let him hold his children. He felt his heart overflowing with joy. The bond was instantaneous. Their ears and tails were so small and they had his eyes. M'likki left the next morning, taking their children with her. He did not know it but he would not get to see them again.

      It was several weeks before she returned to his camp again alone this time. She looked terrified and would not meet his eyes. She struggled to tell him that she wouldn't go away with him. That she would stay with her tribe and raise their children with their help. X'vahl felt his whole world come grinding to a halt a second time at her words. Everything went quiet. The sound of the river drowned to silence by the deafening sinking feeling in his heart. When he regained enough of his senses he looked at her looking at him. She was scared of him. She was scared of what he would do next. He felt another stab at his heart seeing the fear in her eyes directed at him. He quietly assured her he could never do anything to hurt her. He told her if she looked for him tomorrow, she would not find him. He asked if she would tell their children about him. She quietly told him she wouldn't. She told him for their safety and his, she couldn't. After M'likki returned to her tribe that night X'vahl packed all his things and left.

So, Queen Cherry/Grandma Peach had no direct relation to the King Koopa. There was something of an alliance between their kingdoms before King Toadstool hecked it all up.

Reason for the war was pretty shallow. Koopas had most of the political power/territory, and King Toadstool didn't appreciate being seen as weak.

Queen Cherry never liked the idea of war, and definitely didn't appreciate what was quickly turning into outright genocide. But, she there was little she could do about it.

After all, it wasn't as if she could properly reason with the 'King'. All she could do, is placate/manipulate Him so he never completely shifts his sights on her son. (I like to think He floated the idea of 'perfecting' their son once he came of age)

Of course. The good Queen made sure that never happened.
