Normally in almost every dark malec fic i read magnus is written as cruel towards alec,he hates alec (either it's based on the books or tv show i guess cause alec made mistakes in both that caused their break up)

And magnus literally tortures alec but is friendly towards alec's family members which i find odd

And this isn't a shade to those fics while i don't like what's happening in some of those stories i read them like and addict or just stop reading it if it bacomes too much for me

so i feel like it might be because i write dark malec to highlight their love? like the whole appeal of malec for me is you have these two people who really have no reason to be interested or so deeply affected by each other but they are.

there's something instinctive and primal and so intense it immediately cracks through years (decades in Magnus' case) of protective walls for the both of them.

i feel like a some people in fandom tend to forget or ignore that this is alec's first romantic/sexual relationship and that its not like he has a lot of friends either. magnus is also his first confidant out of his family.

and then others or the same people also either forget or ignore that while magnus has had a lot of relationships, opening up his heart to others has rarely gone well. like he has centuries of scars and wounds on his heart and soul. it's been one raw and reopened scar never fully healing and yet magnus decided to take the risk of that wound refestering.

so you have someone who has never opened up their heart (but its been wounded and sore all the same) but wants to because this person is worth it to them. and you have another person who has repeatedly opened up their heart (to sometimes catastrophic results) but they think maybe this person is worth the risk.

so both sides are taking risks. just in different ways. which makes it intense and take effort and also hard.

also since the appeal for me (yes as an aro/ace i too think this is hilarious) is their interest and adoration of each other, it doesn't really make sense to me to write it otherwise? like the whole thing of canon is they are mutually awestruck by each other. that's what really hits me. also the intensity of both of them orbiting around each other. i can't write them disliking each other. even when they're on opposite ends of the battlefield they have mutual or at the very least begrudging respect for each other even before they meet. and after they meet its pretty much alec is like 'how to end war? how to flirt with handsome magic man? how to stop bigotry so i can date a warlock? patricide unacceptable answer apparently' and magnus is all 'how to obliterate the clave' 'how to force peace and also change laws' 'how to woo angel blood without being stabbed' 'how to kidnap someone politely? 'how to heal if you're stabbed with adamas while acquiring future spouse?'

and for the type of fics you're talking about i have seen them and kinda know what you're talking about. i'm not gonna say anything about them tho because i have no actual relevant opinion. i don't read them because they'll trigger me (hence why my opinion would be adversely influenced, meaning i have a pre-existing bias which needs to be considered) and everyone is free to write what they want. there's no shame in that.

i just learned a long time ago that i could accidentally self-harm by reading fics that triggered me and my health cannot take more stress, so i just block authors (doesn't hurt them and protects me). same with how i hope people block or at least ignore me if my fics aren't safe or healthy for them to interact with.

so focusing just on me (which wow does that sounds kinda silly as it type i out) i guess it's because even when magnus is cruel in my fics there is a purpose to his cruelty? he's not cruel for the sake and enjoyment of it like say, Camille, Lilith, Asmodeus etc.

Magnus has been shown to always be harshest on himself as well. Like even in a world where he follows incredibly skewed ethics, i feel like just pure cruelty is too boring for him. Like he would expect better of himself, not necessarily on a moral standpoint but in a 'really, you think i humble myself to the same level as my father?' kind of way?

also there is also a whole section that can be talked about where certain forms of cruelty and kindness are actually two sides of the same coin. so there is some nuance there as well about how i handle cruelty because sometimes magnus is cruel in order to be kind but that's typically still, out of his love for alec even if it's skewed. or he does something out of his own sense of kindness that is technically cruel. magnus' goal is never to fully diminish alec in any fic i write, even the fics where magnus (because alec is also a manipulative little shit in fics) is manipulating alec or purposefully pushing buttons he knows are cruel, he's doing it to help (in his opinion) free alec from ties/the clave/things that 'don't deserve/are hurting/could hurt him/might keep alec from him' etc.

the goal is never to hurt alec. it's to save him and sometimes in order to heal, you need to experience pain. which is how magnus and alec both justify their cruelty to themselves and each other often. especially because again, the goal is ultimately the benefit of the other person.

i think the main thing is that there's never any doubt - or at least i try to make sure there isn't - in my fics that they both want each other and the best for each other. maybe it comes about in a darker or less ethical way in some of my fics, but the main purpose of the plot is never to hurt each other or to inflict damage that will linger and wound.

also malec in generally is an unreliable narrator in my fics. the reason i tag 3DNE even in the lower levels of dark range, is because i i write and promote extremely unhealthy levels of codependency, dom/sub dynamics and obsession that cannot safely exist in the same levels in the real world. i also write about intense topics but i generally do it in... not a sanitized way? but a softer way? so i think some of it gets a little smoothed out by the humor/affection/etc which also like, this kinda of behavior shouldn't be normalized or seen as safe. i'm not promoting actual cannibalism or kidnapping someone to be your spouse lol

and again (because i get similar comments on ao3) is that when I write malec my goal is for them to be happy and healthy even if the world they live in isn't and by normal standards their relationship isn't. i want them delighting in each other and even if it's depraved, doing whatever they can to give each other the best of the world and help them be the strongest version of the person.

i just have very specific preferences and tbh i repeat tropes and cliches and my little happy niche a lot because i know what i'm comfortable with and enjoy. also i have the personal preference of two predators maybe not always equally matches but both incredibly dangerous in their own way, meeting and then creating an ecosystem that works for the two of them. i also like gifted/earned submission rather than purely forced?

and it's shown in the show that Magnus mostly helped everyone because 1) to get them to stop stalking him and endangering his people 2) to keep appraised of the situation and 3) Alec. which might actually have been the main one. and Magnus' heart got cracked open from Alec and he started to make friends with those around Alec trying to get closer (the jokes and present to Izzy).

I feel like Magnus wouldn't really care orhave anything to do with them or be very interested or so generous with them other than information reasons. and without alec, i don't think his heart would have thawed enough. in a way, alec makes magnus more vulnerable than either realize and it's not alec's fault.

but it is a result of Magnus meeting and loving alec and because alec doesn't realize this, he often can't step in and help magnus set boundaries magnus stopped making in his journey to woo alec. so in fics where magnus already has a relationship with alec or doesn't need to 'woo the family' so to speak, he generally doesn't open up to them or try to connect with them the same way.

in some ways, this is Magnus distancing himself because he will want to be able to join alec when (because i only write immortal husbands) he mourns them, but also he's not going to be overwhelmed with grief himself.

i got way off track there.

so if you know about the Addams' Family media, which this eldritch delight is based off the vibes of that, i feels like that's what true dark romance is. however it did get a bit sanitized and played up for comedy, so actually just a lot of my malec is inspired by that intensity but without the sanitizing and so much comedy.

i mean. these two are so intense about each other.

Alec summoned a greater demon. Magnus tried to erase his own memories.

They are not well, okay? they are two dumb men in love. they both are super high intl and high wis until it comes to each other and then their wisdom drops to 'i'm going to destroy everything to make this one thing right!' and typically its for the other person, so the only being who could stop them now can't.

i hope this makes sense? i feel like i rambled a bit much and now i'm not even sure i properly answered the ask but i enjoyed the ask?

like... i just really can't imagine magnus being more than like, bitingly petty and sassy and sarcastic to alec and like threateningly yes?

but like even if alec was on the other side in a more intense universe and magnus was the one interrogating him. magnus would just pause in the middle of threatening alec and be like 'it's a pity you're so pretty. i can think of so many things i'd rather hear from you than your screams of pain.'

and alec is just like: please go back to threatening me. if you compliment me i'll break and that's just not fair. this is both the worst and best time of my life right now.

magnus picking up on that and coming back in his most dangerous flirty outfit and sitting on the table in front of alec, legs spread to accommodate the chair alec's sitting on and alec is just like: can you bring out the potions again? or the fireball? i really miss the snake that breathed fire omg please don't get so close i will never live it down if i break because a magical man kissed me

magnus: but imagine what i could give you if you were good for me? wouldn't you rather be a good boy for me, alexander?

Hiiii thereee! Okay so I know you're a big Furilumi fan, so I was wondering if you could help me collect all the info and events that imply it, and their general dynamic and stuff??? Anything about their relationship in all canon or semi-canon content. I'm working on the Traveler x Genshin chars list again, and I'm honestly undecided on how to interpret Furina's feelings for the traveler, so I thought you could help :>>>

Hellooo~ and gosh I'm flattered that you think so.

I will say that while I am a fan; I'm not as die-hard as others maybe. I'm very much a characters-before-the-ship kinda gal when it comes to Furilumi (also in general with other characters).

Like if you were to put a gun to my head and ask me what is my top Travelver X Character ship "canon wise", Furilumi wouldn't even be top five. (also I am adult enough to admit that I'm very much wanting to fuck Furina a Furina x Reader shipper more than anything)

But even with all that, I think they are cute together together and they have an interesting dynamic that can be explored.

I'm wasn't quite sure how you wanted the information or how much you wanted. I'm just gonna go through certain moments from quests Furina & Lumine have been in together so far. And just talk about them.

Also if I forget a scene or something please forgive me!

When Lumine first meets Furina at the very start of the Fontaine Archon quest, she isn't being herself.

As we all know, Furina was acting as the role of Hydro Archon. So calling it a proper meeting isn't accurate, since I tend to believe we don't meet the real Furina until much late. This isn't just in reference to her identify, but also her true personality.

Also it was just basically Furina going "We are rivals now!" and Lumine being like "....sure I guess?".

But I thought it important to high light it since it does establishes their early dynamic.

Furina knows about what The Travelver has done and sees her as an answer to her problems;

She has been chasing the one trial to end all trials; the one case that is so spectacular that is will save Fontaine from the impending floods. And what better opposition than the famous Outlander?

And she says at much at Lyney's trial:

Although there is perhaps a bit of fear at what the The Travelver could do, Furina is sure that their face off will soon happen. And that the odds will be in her favour (even though she kinda doesn't know what she is doing lol), with her being determined to save Fontaine.

It is always hard to truly know what the Travelver themselves is thinking. But I would guess Lumine also views Furina as a means to an end. It is the reason she is traveling Teyvat finding her brother.

This shows that while they both are different, they are very willing to do what they can to obtain their goal. Whether that means playing a role for 500 years, or travelling all over the whole continent, they will searching through any scarp of information to find the answers.

While Furina does lose and is, from Paimon's own words: "...like a deflated balloon now." I think Furina is more sad that it wasn't "The Trial" more than anything. Especially since she is "...unable to contain her joy at seeing you and Paimon enter.", when coming to protect her while meeting with the Arlecchino. Showing that she doesn't have any ill will towards Lumine.

Granted this could be because Furina is utterly terrified of The Knave as well trusting in Neuvillette very much. But still that rivalry is put on hold. But from this little tea party Lumine starts feeling distrusting of Furina, thinking she is hiding something. And from the events of Poisson, this just grows.

While Lumine is willing to go through the plan with others to trap Furina, this is very much a last resort;

Lumine doesn't want to be feuding with Furina; this rivalry that Furina has thrusted upon them is something she doesn't want. And while Lumine is reluctant to do this, she knows there is no choice. The Travelver doesn't think Furina is a bad person. But they need answers, and as such it seems that they are both destined to be on oppositions at court.

But Lumine still tries one last time to get through to Furina.

This part of the Fontaine Archon quest is one of my favourites; this is where Furina's thoughts and feeling finally start to poke out.

It happens because Furina's greatest fear is coming true, but still. Pretty good.

Lumine is very much on to the act that Furina plays. She knows that is she isn't godly or uncaring as she may give off. Lumine tries to show to Furina that it is okay to let go:

If Furina had been quicker and had told her the truth, Lumine very much would have stopped the plan. But from what we know, Furina would have never told. She was dedicated to the very end.

Skipping to after the Hydro Archons trial and the crisis being averted. We don't get anything until Furina's story quest.

Story quests are in general kinda a mixed bag. They are can be great in show casing the playable characters, well character. As well as expanding on the world as a whole. But sometimes they just focus on the second part a bit too hard and the character suffers from.

Now looking back at Furina's quest, it probably wasn't as bad as I thought originally. Well at least looking through just the lines by themselves is fine (Paimon is still...well I have thoughts on how they utilise Paimon's character when it comes to story. They use her as comic relief/to lighten it up when it is not needed...But that's a convo for another day).

There are at least some good bits to take from.

The first being that the reason Furina even helps the Troupe in the first place is because the Travelver drags them (literally and figuratively) into the plot. By the way of hand-holding no less.

After the ordeal that Furina has been through she is actually quite reluctant to be out and about. Furina strikes me as someone who is introverted, this very well could because she has had no real personal relationships.

On topic of personal relationships, Lumine is properly the only person who knows about what Furina truly felt during her 500 years of acting. This is cause of Furina unconsciously trama-dumped on Lumine, but still. Having someone who has seen the many sides to you, can be nice. Furina can be candid with Lumine, not needed to put on a performance. But I'm sure Furina also feels it is kinda awkward. Because 'Oh archons this person knows all about me', it crates an unexpected power imbalance, which can make for an interesting dynamic with the Travelver.

Another good moment is when they are back in Poisson;

If there is one ideal out of the seven that The Travelver embodies most, it is freedom. Freedom is very important to Lumine and I think it's very telling when she tells Furina that freedom is her reward. She is saying to her that it's It's over, and that she is free to begin a new chapter of her life.

So I think it's no coincidence after this quest Furina ends up being a director in "Roses and Muskets". She breaks out of her shell a bit and once again comes along on the Travelver's behest. Granted there aren't that many scenes/moments with them since this was very Chevreuse forward event. This is also similar in the Lantern Rite, but we did get a cute diagonal where Lumine says "I have keenly felt the passage of time since our last meeting." so that was cute.

Unfortunately since Furina has only been out for 7 months we'll have to wait for more. Hopeful in 4.6 (if it follows the same patterns) we will get her second story quest, and that it's a little bit better.

But there are voice-over and teapot stuff! (Had to get these from the wiki since I don't have Furina fully unlocked. yeah yeah know)

These are pretty self explanatory. Just Furina wanting to spend time with the Travelver and taking about the next chapter of her life having Lumine in it.

I thought this one has particularly cute. Furina would make macaroni for Lumine.

Hello! I am very sleepy as I just got up from bed. Aww and thank you! I'm glad people enjoy my works :D

I'm going to be honest, I do fuck all and jack shit-

I mostly draw in the afternoon till the late evening.

Admittedly, art requests pieces take over two hours for me to finish drawing. My computer is old and slow, which is why I'm trying to save up money, which is not ideal for me. But y'know, at least I have a computer.

Overall, I draw everyday. Unless I just don't feel like drawing for three days. How much I draw is up to my energy levels.

"you are not making sense," and as dismissive as the philosopher's words might have sounded to those that would pass, there laid a genuine curiosity within him, drawing forth a slight puzzled change in anaxagoras' features there he'd come to lay eyes towards the outlander. "to speak of journeys the way you are, lumine, you surely can't claim to be simply human - whatever that might include - as it would have put a strain on your body. no. it sounds as if you, from my observations..."

he spoke as if he had done several, when in reality he had gazed upon her far too few times to be certain. though, with every glances there had been something new, something miniscule that he would claim for his own innermost thoughts and in moments of silence where he'd find himself along with pondering thoughts, anaxagoras would travel back to that very same miniscule detail that had stuck with him. a twitch by her lip, the way eyes sought towards place the philosopher couldn't have reached even if anaxagoras wished to, or something as grand as an expression, that defeat in her voice come moments they'd speak of the past... or rather, possible future.

as fingers curled against his back, eye sought towards her again. outlander, otherworldly visitor, infiltrator. perhaps it was for the best that she - somehow - couldn't be tracked by the golden threads throughout amphoreus; " ... are as human as me," served as a rather dry joke there they walked, side by side in bustling gardens.

"then again," anaxagoras retracted his gaze from her to the skies above, the light of the grove peeking past leafy veil. "perhaps neither of us are truly humans, but simply stars manifested in shapes we deem most comfortable ; do continue though, as i do so enjoy hearing the the adventures you've had up until now."

He’s observant, is the first thing that flits through her mind as she watches Anaxagoras work through her words, picking up every microexpression and letting his mind run rampant. It’s funny, he’s not the first person who thought her travels were impossible or nonsensical, but the truth was, while explaining it made little sense, she was proof that it was possible.

Maybe it was her genealogy that made it possible to travel amongst the galaxy, discovering new worlds, to have fun in a place where no one knew her and had no motives. For Lumine, it was about the experience, to walk a mile in a foreign place and see through someone else’s eyes. Most of the time, it was fun, a lesson in perseverance or like in the beginning, naivete. But it’s been eons since the first of her travels but this place was different and yet familiar, maybe because she was meeting actual people and not humongous birds? Or having to travel a planet solely underwater? Ah, whatever it was, Lumine enjoyed the chance to converse with someone. For once, there were no ulterior motives, just the glimpse of the girl she used to be peeking out her tentative head.

❝ ━ Sometimes in such a vast universe, being human is rather jarring. Being able to reach out and run your fingers along constellations of a different sky, to open a portal to other worlds, well, when you consider that, I guess I’m not completely human, ❞ She murmurs, golden eyes looking around, greenery catching her gaze, the soft footfalls they’re making but her eyes inadvertently go back to Anaxagoras, a bit of playful smile easing over her expression. ❝ ━ There are so many worlds I’ve visited. So many things I’ve seen. ❞

It makes laughter well up in her chest, even the bad moments during her adventures were memorable. Perhaps it’s the fact that she can leave and come back to those worlds that makes it memorable. ❝ ━ There was this one time where I thought me and my brother ended up on a barren land. Everything was so desolate, dying. It was seemingly inhabitable and my curiosity gets the beeter of me at times and I ended up falling into the earth, it just collapsed under my feet ! If it weren’t for my wings, I’m sure I would’ve hurt myself.  ❞ Looks had been so deceiving.

There’s excitement twinkling in her gaze now, ❝ ━ There was an entirely different world inside the earth ! Lush, thriving with little sunlight, but it was wonderful, and fascinating. Learning to live with minimal light. I learned about hydroponic farming, how to make my own arrows. There was also the time my brother got stuck in a spider web, more accurately his wings got stuck and we had to fight this spider/scorpion hybrid. It was wild, but I’d probably do it again. ❞ Much to her brother’s chagrin. Being covered in insect guts was gross but the fight was a challenge and while sure, she could be reckless, it was an adrenaline rush.

That recklessness had not gone away, atleast not completely. And idly, she realizes that having someone to speak with, to regale these tales with, and Anaxagoras being willing to listen is simply something she appreciates immensely. So she doesn't hesitate to continue, to just talk, laugh and get a little embarrassed by just how much she has experienced. But he simply listens and it makes her heart lighter all the more for it.

There has to be reciprocation and I think that a part of Simon feeling so… lost is that he is lost. In canon he doesn’t really have a true sire or mentor and Raphael can’t coddle him (even tho he does a bit) because Raphael has to carefully walk the line of politics because he’s not as powerful as Camille and doesn’t have her reputation and in fact now has to clean up her mess and the reputation issue she have their Clan (so Raphael is responsible for A lot of vampires).

So in this, where there are dominion kings (not all warlocks, it’s a territory thing but it’s all downworlders)

Nephilim give their oaths to Raziel, the clever and their HOTI.

Simon will feel more stabilized but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll still make the best choices. He’s still Simon, but at least he won’t be as stressed out. He has protection that isn’t tied to his usefulness or his friendship etc.

Like he has somewhere to go now, when Clary isn’t available and let’s be real, she’s almost never available to help him.

Simon is both less and more overwhelmed.

Transient Luminous Events. wanna tell me about them? And these EVLE things you mentioned?

OKAY SO

Transient Luminous Events, or TLEs, are a bunch of atmospheric phenomenon caused by lightning! They aren't true lightning, they're way too cold and is more like florescent lights.

So the way they formed is when an extremely strong positively charged lightning strikes, causing an imbalance of positive and negative ions in the atmosphere. Because the clouds have a different charge from the upper atmosphere, the particles move between the two layers, creating a TLE! So it's kind of like lightning but less extreme basically.

They occur in the upper atmosphere, from 20 to 100 kilometers above the ground I believe? They occur way above thunderstorms though. Plus they last anywhere from less than a millisecond to 2 seconds, so they are HARD to spot! Plus they tend to be quite faint... In fact, they were only discovered in 1989, although there were reports of them by pilots-

Anyways, onto different types. First off, red sprites!

The most commonly recorded TLE. The bigger ones tend to have blue at the bottom because of Nitrogen in the lower atmosphere exciting in the blue to ultraviolet wavelengths. Plus they may appear in clusters of "Dancing sprites!" Very cool tbh.

Oh and they may appear with a green afterglow on top, which are called Green Ghosts!

And finally... ELVES

Short for "Emission of Light and Very Low Frequency perturbations due to Electromagnetic Pulse Sources" (What a mouthful!), ELVEs are my absolute favourite TLE. They could get up to 400 km wide, they occur over 100 km in the air and lasts for less than a MILLISECOND. They are so cool!!!!

There's others like halos, pixies, Trolls and Gnomes. So uhhhhh yeah! Cool false-lightning thingies

Lumine took a deep breath, and tried to build up some courage before attempting this very embarrassing dare..

It was night time in Teyvat, which was already a good start. No sense in lulling someone into a mid day nap after all.

After a quick teleport to the Wangshu inn’s waypoint, Lumine carefully made her way up to the balcony, since she knew Xiao usually slept in the tree branches on the roof.

She did a quick one eighty look around before quietly calling his name.

“.. Xiao..? Are you up here..?”

AHHH LIN!!! ok ok uhhhh. this is cheating a little bit bc two of these are series but they really are so special to me, i can't possibly pick just one chapter/installment from either of them. anyways, here are five of my favorites, not necessarily in order (edit: why the FUCK was this so hard???):

Noble Blood - stsg x gn reader; jjk dragon rider au. by word count, this is the longest multichap fic i've ever posted. it's really niche, since it's 1.) a reader insert, 2.) a poly ship, & 3.) a high fantasy AU, but it one of my favorite things i've ever written in my life, and i've been writing (fic & original writing) for over half my life.

Transfem Gojo - trans woman gojo satoru x gn reader. i've always loved playing around with characters' genders and sexualities, which like... there's definitely some projection happening there, but we don't need to talk about that. i also didn't expect the concept to turn into a whole series, but it has, and honestly i couldn't be happier about it, especially when it brought one of my favorite people into my life ( @dr-runs-with-scissors ily) and when i see how much other people love her, even if it's a very small group. again, a very niche concept, but i love it.

Too Much - kocho shinobu x gn autistic reader; shinobu helps reader through a meltdown. this fic was a gift for red ( @redlikerozez), actually! i really like this one bc, as someone who is autistic, it fulfilled a very specific hole in the reader insert space (at least in my experience). it was also nice to write for a character i hadn't yet written for, who is also a female characters and a character that generally has less fic written about her!

Lucky Shot - outlaw geto suguru & fem reader; platonic w/ open ending; gun violence, blood/injury, minor character death. i really liked all the entries i did for riley's collab, but this one is probably my favorite of the three! it was also my first geto fic that didn't include gojo.

Day Off - maki & gn reader; you spend the day at the arcade. this fic is the only one i've ever written based on a request (for @/yuutito), but it was so much fun to write! maki deserves more fics and writing something platonic is always nice.

A sigh of relief fell from the Traveler's lips, one hand moving to wipe the sweat off her forehead after the long climb up. "Aha! I knew I'd find you here!"

At least all that effort had not been for nothing. She had a faint suspicion that the Yaksha would be resting on top of the large tree right besides Wangshu Inn. It seems to be one of his favorite napping spots. Unfortunately, it is not the easiest to reach. There was a shortcut by jumping from the balcony of the building, but still required climbing up several branches afterwards.

"Ehehe...I guess I'm a little out of shape, huh? I haven't been climbing as much in Fontaine."

While the region of Hydro did have some steep hills, most of the exploration takes place underwater. Not that this was any easier - it actually required her to learn a whole new way of combat, but she had gotten the hang of it by now.

"Ahem. Anyway...I'm sure you know what I'm here, right? ー Or did you think I'd forget?"

Lumine had made many friends here in Teyvat, but she made sure to remember...

"Happy birthday, Xiao. This is for you."

A bouquet of Glaze Lillies or Qingxin would have been way too cliched. He has seen plenty of those in this thousands of years of living. Instead, she went with a Fontainian speciality - the Romaritime Flower.

"These flowers actually bloom under the sea level! Some of them can grow above ground as well, but then you need to apply Hydro for them to bloom." She explained, lips curving into a gentle smile.

"I hope you like it. The purple color in them reminded me of you."

He'd heard the noises of strain, but recognized the incoming presence of the traveler far before her voice or face made her presence clear. He respected her effort and simply settled into his curiosity as he waited for her to reach him, sitting atop his favorite spot in the tree...as she had apparently expected, with his arm resting on a bent knee.

Any other hunting him down here might be subjected to severe frustration and judgment, having invaded a rather sacred space for him. Very few would be met with a sense of welcome. The man who called himself Zhongli was one.

And she was the other.

"Forget...?" he questioned, speaking for the first in this current meeting. He wasn't sure what she would think he would forget...unless.. He sighed, even as she came closer. It really was not necessary, but he could already see her winding up something. This was nothing more than a passage of time, a moment marked but the marks were like tallies and nothing more to him. At least they were in regards to his existence, even if the tallies were feeling, these days, only a little less like marks. "Lumine, you needn't--"

And yet she did, gifting those words that he was not shy to offering when he knew the time had passed over her own birthday. Not that his was normal, it was...more of a rebirth-day, but he supposed that counted far more. And the his eyes zeroed in on the flower, as she explained about it and it's unique nature.

He hesitated, before finally, reached to take it in hand, twisting it left and right as he observed his fullness, and it's color. It was very unique, not like any he saw here in Liyue, ever really. This homeland of his hand it's beauty, but this was certainly one worth appreciating as well. And it reminded her of him? Well, he supposed he could see it, in the colors.

Finally, bringing the flower a bit closer to his chest, he looked back to Lumine. "...How...far did you go, for this?" was his first question. She had said they bloom under the sea level, didn't she? But no. No, that wasn't what he should focus on. Effort or not, he should be recognizing it with more appreciation. She was gifting this, specifically on this day. He could not disrespect her gift, never from Lumine.

He shook his head, clearing his throat a bit. He scooted just a bit nearer to where she'd settled in his tree, lowering the flower but keeping it close. And he looked to Lumine, the proud smile on her face, the gentle care he always felt from her--felt so strongly it was now flowing into dreams for him, strange as it was. His lips ever so softly tugged into a tender smile.

"I may not treat such a day, as others do, but...thank you. For this, and giving me a way to enjoy this day anyways. If you're not....busy, perhaps...we can sit for a while...?"
