Crooked by nature, they have always had a knack for manipulation and persuasion - nurture worsened it. selfish; power-hungry; proud; a perfect canvas for the pursuits of the family that they'd been adopted into and admittedly for their own gain. Freedom granted them invisibility and they remain clutched onto that to this day. they've slipped into and out of many empires, left impacts, bought loyalties but as chaotic as they are, they're not simple- minded. They make calculative decisions and take well thought out actions for the gain of themselves and the Mcleods. Prepared, intuitive, controlled - sometimes they seem outwardly unapproachable, they led their army with a strong hand, charmed their way through awkward situations, and worked hard regardless of their intentions for doing so. They have two faces and only those loyal to the Mcleods know which one is real.

The Mughal Empire had always been, to him, a means to an end. After his discharge from the Scottish military, being reassigned to a new empire to help aid the rebellion in any way that he could, he thought that settling in Delhi was temporary, that he would not grow attached to the people, sights, and sounds that surrounded him on a daily basis, however, that was far from the case. Assuming a new identity, working his way through the ranks of their military, making connections and friendships (even if surface level), and getting acquainted with a culture that his birth parents had fallen in love with after leaving Scotland wasn't supposed to leave a mark on him, but it did.

Grief was not new to Abdullah. He had been mourning Scotland and his place within it for years before The Reckoning took the rulers of the Mughal Empire from him. However, the loss struck him harder than he thought it might. But, somewhere between training with his father in the halls of their home and sliding into bed next to the youngest Fergusson, his grief disappeared and was replaced by a warmth that was often threatened by the thought of what those he cared about most were doing behind the scenes. You see, the rebels that he had once proudly stood with were strong, perhaps, even stronger than ever, and in the land under STUART reign, whether by friend or foe, rebels careless enough to get caught were hung. Once a thought that made him chuckle, the reality of losing those he cared about to something they could CHOOSE to refrain from started to make him weary. So he left without a word, leaving his past rebellion behind him; leaving THEM behind him and finding himself in the most unlikely of places; FRANCE. Now? In the halls of the Spanish Palace, he has no other choice but to face the realities that he left behind; Abdullah would always be a rebel at heart - it just so happened that his heart was now the bloodied FACE of the REBELLION that was no longer aligned with.

Memaknai Jatuh Cinta

Setiap dari kita pasti pernah mengalami fase jatuh cinta. Cinta kepada rutinitas, pemikiran, materi, atau mungkin seseorang yang akan menjadi bagian dari perjalanan hidup kita.

Mencintai adalah perkara memberi. Sebagaimana dijelaskan oleh Ustadz Cahyadi Takariawan dalam satu kesempatan, cinta akan terasa lebih kuat ketika terdapat proses aktif dari seseorang untuk mengupayakan sesuatu, bukan sekadar meminta.

Hal ini selaras dengan penjelasan Kang Zein Permana, bahwa cinta adalah kata kerja. Ia menuntut usaha, termasuk saat dihadapkan pada ketidaksesuaian, untuk terus mencari jalan alternatif demi mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan.

Lantas, muncul pertanyaan: lebih baik memberi atau meminta?

Ustadz Cahyadi menegaskan, tidak ada yang salah dalam meminta. Namun, memberi memiliki feel yang lebih besar karena subjek lebih aktif untuk mengupayakanya, berbeda dengan hanya menuntut atau berpangku tangan, meskipun tak bisa disalahkan sepenuhnya, itu adalah proses bertumbuh dari manusia.

Pelajaran tentang cinta terlihat jelas dalam perjuangan rakyat Palestina. Parade kemenangan mereka menjadi bukti kecintaan kepada Allah, Rasul, dan tanah air. Segalanya mereka berikan: anak, cucu, harta benda, bahkan kehidupan, demi menjaga Baitul Maqdis.

Ada satu idiom yang begitu mengena, "Ini adalah jalan menuju kemenangan atau kesyahidan," adalah bukti cinta yang paripurna.

Hal serupa dapat kita temukan dari para muassis dakwah terdahulu. Ketekunan, keberanian, dan kebijaksanaan mereka menjadi bukti cinta sejati kepada Allah. Mereka menyerahkan seluruh hidupnya untuk menyeru kepada kebenaran dan menegakkan yang haq.

Sebagaimana perkataan Ustadz Rahmat Abdullah:

“Dakwah adalah cinta. Dan cinta akan meminta semuanya darimu. Sampai pikiranmu, perhatianmu, berjalan, duduk, tidurmu, bahkan mimpimu pun tentang dakwah dan umat yang kau cintai.”

Senada dengan itu, Imam Hasan Al-Banna dalam risalahnya menyatakan,

“Betapa inginnya kami agar umat mengetahui bahwa mereka lebih kami cintai dibanding diri kami sendiri.”

Pada akhirnya, energi terbesar yang menggerakkan setiap aktivis dakwah adalah rasa cinta. Cinta kepada Allah dan Rasul-Nya menjadi fondasi, yang kemudian diwujudkan dalam amalan-amalan shalih, ukhuwah Islamiyah, dan dedikasi kepada umat. Kang Zein Permana menyebut ini sebagai Tangible Behavior, atau perilaku nyata yang dimotivasi oleh keinginan untuk meraih sesuatu.

Namun, mencintai dan istiqomah di jalan dakwah bukanlah tugas yang mudah. Perjalanan panjang ini menuntut kebersamaan. Itulah mengapa membutuhkan orang-orang yang membersamai di jalan dakwah. Ialah meraka saudara-saudara yang berjuang bersama, saling mengingatkan dalam kebaikan, menegur saat khilaf, dan membingkainya dalam manisnya ukhwuah.

Ukhuwah tidak cukup hanya dengan taaruf, tetapi perlu diupayakan hingga mencapai level itsar (mendahulukan saudara). Mencintai saudara sejalan dengan mencintai dakwah, menjadi sarana bertumbuh bersama dalam kekuatan dan keberkahan.

Dengan cinta kepada Allah dan Rasul-Nya, amanah besar akan dipercayakan kepada kita meliputi : beribadah kepada-Nya, berdakwah, dan menjadi khalifah di muka bumi.

Amanah di jalan dakwah sejatinya adalah ujian pembuktian kesungguhan, ketulusan, dan kemampuan dalam menjalankan tanggung jawab.

Ujian ini tidak hanya menjadi bekal amal kebaikan di akhirat, tetapi juga menentukan kelayakan kita untuk menerima rezeki lainnya, salah satunya adalah jodoh, yang memerlukan kesanggupan, ketekunan, dan keberkahan dalam menjalaninya.

Mencintai adalah proses bertumbuh yang penuh rasa tanggung jawab, karena cinta yang sejati akan selalu memupuk kebaikan dalam diri dan lingkungan di sekitar kita.
