ANDREW

"Shouldn't you pick up the icky bits before you try to mop?" Andrew asks, noting the brain matter and slivers of skull at Neil's feet. It is quite a grisly scene, but it doesn't phase Andrew. Not really. He's seen the same, in textbooks and TV shows and slapped across faded wallpaper. Aaron's clothes. He raises his gaze to Neil's annoyed face.

"What are you, a crime scene cleaner?"

"No, I just have a bit of common sense." Andrew counters, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and his head cocked to the side. Neil holds out the mop.

"You want to do this?"

"Not my job, Neil." Andrew says, flicking his fingers. Neil scowls at him, but Andrew ignores him. He crosses the floor and heaves himself onto the restaurant's order counter to watch Neil work. It takes him a little longer than it should— because he did not remove the solids first— but Andrew doesn't point that out. He just watches Neil's back, elbows, ass, as he cleans up the floor.

When he's finally done, Neil lugs his bucket of filth to the bathroom. Andrew watches him go, spinning around on the countertop to do so. He sits there, staring at the bathroom door and listening to Neil curse as he flushes the evidence, with his feet on the built-in desk on the inside of the counter. That's when he notices something interesting tucked into a recess in the wood. A small black book. Andrew swipes it and flips it open, eyes widening at the names and figures inside.

The names are surely fake ones, unless Neil's uncle seriously knows people named 'Benjamin Buttons' or 'Sally Sunshine'. He wonders exactly what this ledger is for, what Stuart does to make his apparent fortune. A few things come to mind and none of them are pretty. Drugs, guns, human trafficking—

Andrew goes still, his stomach turning more at that thought than it had at the head guts. Is Neil involved in shit like that? Surely not. Not Neil.
