Sir Terence Orby Conran (4 October 1931 – 12 September 2020)

Sir Terence, who founded both furniture retailer Habitat and the Design Museum, promoted British design, culture and the arts around the world through his wide-ranging body of work.

In Britain, he helped break down class boundaries by making quality designs more widely available across the population.

Sir Terence studied textile design at London’s Central School of Art before beginning his career making and selling furniture, including innovative flat-pack creations.

He went on to open restaurants across London before launching the first Habitat furniture store in 1964 on Fulham Road in Chelsea, which was at the heart of the “Swinging Sixties” phenomenon in the British capital.

Its staff were attired in uniforms by Mary Quant and had their hair styled by Vidal Sassoon. Many more furniture and lifestyle stores would follow in the years to come.

Sir Terence, who was knighted in 1983, personally influenced other household-name brands like Heal’s and Mothercare. He also set up the Conran Roche architecture practice in 1980.

“Ah, Lina, você chegou bem na hora!” O tom melodioso característico ilustrava o cumprimento; Linda abriu a porta para amiga, deixando que ela entrasse no dormitório. Havia prometido à Rylina que passariam o dia juntas na praia, mas antes, precisaria da garota em sua sala de estar. ”Questão de vida ou morte”, disse na mensagem enviada mais cedo. A Adormecida caminhou até o sofá, afastando algumas almofadas em formato de conchas que faziam parte da decoração do Under The Sea e se sentando ali. Então pegou o MacLamp que havia deixado por ali, colocando-o em seu colo. “Senta logo. Preciso ler isso para você.” Indicou para a ruiva se sentar ao seu lado, sem tirar os olhos da tela do computador. Ali estava a questão de urgência, vida ou morte: “Escreveram uma fanfic sobre a gente. Uma fanfic! E o problema nem é esse, os meus Glamurosos viveeeem escrevendo fanfics sobre mim no Storypad, e eu previ que iam começar a shippar #LILINA depois daqueles stories nossos, o problema é que essa fic tá horrível! Horrível, Lina!” Linda estampou uma careta indignada, enrugando a testa; os olhos passando pelas palavras do capítulo que lia. “Saca só, vou ler um trecho! Esse capítulo aqui é no seu ponto de vista: “Entrei no salão de baile e avistei Linda. Meu coração acelerou. Era como ver o céu se abrir depois de um mês de tempestades. Ela estava magnífica naquele vestido azul, conversando com o meu melhor amigo, Klaus. Ele me viu na entrada do salão e acenou para mim.”” Fez uma pausa, desviando os olhos da tela rapidamente antes de voltar. “Por que eu estava usando azul? Eu não uso azul em bailes! Isso tá tudo errado! E calma, porque ainda tem mais. Essa parte aqui foi um absurdo: “Linda havia perdido metade de sua herança para o seu irmão maligno, Bonito, e mesmo diante a tanto sofrimento, conseguia sorrir. Eu me derretia com isso.” Ah, para! Eu perder herança pro Bonito? Nunca! Ele que vai perder pra mim. Odiei.”
