could any of you please give your mhs formal ticket experiences? :') if u know what i mean? like the ticket etiquette. I want to pay for my ticket but my date keeps saying it's fine he'll take care of it but I feel bad because it's a lot of money!
Hey there,
Generally, it’s on the inviter to pay for both tickets as formal courtesy but it really depends on how you both want to handle this. Maybe you’re both going to each others’ formal, so ticket fee is paid by both, etc. Sure your date could pay for it (which is not out of common practice) but if you feel like you should split the fee then go ahead and tell them how you feel.

Is going to social worth it?
Hey there,
Anything is worth it if you make it worth it! If you go and just mope around thinking “why did I come?” or “this is so boring” you’ll think it’s not worth it. But if you go with your friends, dance and just have fun, it will definitely be worth your time, unless you think that $20 for a dance party is absolutely not worth it. It’s really subjective but you can make it a good time if you look forward to it and have friends to hang out with too :)
Hopefully this helps!

hi im from mhs and i have a lot of questions about macrob, my friend told me about you guys, so i have some questions for you: how hot are you guys, are many of you single, does the school have lots of gay poeple in it?
Hey,
Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we have collectively decided to not respond in a way you may have hoped as your question doesn’t align with what FAM is here for.
Thanks again,FAM.

did the year 11s this year have a formal? if they didn't what did they do as a cohort instead
Hey there,
The year 11s did not have a formal this year. Based on what we know, the school stopped running year 11 formals after 2016 and in the last 2 years, they have held a combined day at Luna Park with Melbourne High instead.

Hey there,
MHS is hosting the senior social before the end of this month, which is an event for year 11 and 12 students. Check out the event page on facebook, or if you want more information, feel free to contact the MHS SRC :)

how do i meet bois w out being in the musical? (i'm not talented, you see)
Heyo,
Probably through leadership to be able to interact more at selective schools. There’s also a lot of programs throughout the year like that conference at MHS where you can meet a lot of people. In my cohort in particular, I know that most non-macrob friends are made through mutual friends - so the more friends you make here, the more likely you’ll be able to meet someone outside of school :))

Hey, just wondering what the social is and when it is too. Also, what schools go to it. TY :)
Hey,
We’ve already answered the question, here’s the link! :) As MHS hosts the social, we don’t have dates as of yet, but once the SRC execs know, you’ll get an email about it regarding when it is and how to buy tickets etc. Only boys from MHS can go and the girls are from a lot of different schools, normally they’ll invite students from MacRob, PLC, Melbourne Girls Grammar and MLC but girls from other schools can also attend.

Hi, I just read the year 10's last yr/ yr 11's this yr didn't get a middle school house cup. Do u think they'll be getting one this yr to make up for it?
Hey there,
I am not 100% sure but I think that last year middle school house cup was cancelled due to really poor weather conditions. I am sure the year level and middle school house reps were very disappointed, as I was also a middle school house rep and I understand the intensive months of planning that goes into these events. This does not mean that this year you will not have a middle school house cup, if you are in year 10. In terms of them having a ‘make up’ middle school house cup, that is unlikely as at the end of the year, the year 11 event is going to Luna Park with Melbourne High.
Hope this helps!Love

I want to get to know more mhs boys but i dont know how help
Hello!
If you want to try to get to know some more MHS boys, I would suggest that you participate in some combined school events :) Events such as winter concert, the school play or musical (backstage is a great option if you’re shy or don’t want to be on stage), junior or senior social can potentially be a good place to let loose and meet some new people. So keep your eyes peeled for when tickets and opportunities to be involved in these events, come out!
Love,FAM xx
P.S. In Year 10, Mac.Rob and MHS hold a combined event known as House Cup, organised by your middle school house reps. It’s a whole day event dedicated to playing various sports at mhs, where you’ll have plenty of time to get to know plenty of MHS boys so here’s another event to look forward to :)

Hey! I was wondering when the year 9 social is and who goes, and what you do
Hey :)
So we’re assuming that you’re referring to the MHS junior social as we don’t host our own. Basically, it’s an event organised by the MHS SRC hosted at their school, usually a bit before mid-year. The schools that are invited to attend may change from year to year but it’s often Mac.Rob and around three other schools. Keep in mind though not everybody from Mac.Rob or any of those other schools attend this event.
On the night of the social, there is often a DJ and student-run musical entertainment for you to enjoy. It’s most common that you’ll find yourself dancing in a crowded hall with your friends or taking a breather outside because it gets super hot surrounded by a lot of people. Of course though, it is called social so don’t forget to get out there and meet new people.
As it was already said, social is not compulsory and it’s completely up to you whether or not you want to attend. When we were in year nine there were people who opted to hang out at a friend’s house rather than go to MHS social so it’s really up to you about what you plan to (or not to!) do.
Hopefully this clarifies things up a bit.

Hey fam, so there's this guy from MHS thats been following me and watching me constantly and I'm really scared about it. I think he's around my year level but he always looks at me during rehearsal (I'm part of a mhs and macrob combined event) and he goes on my train line and today after school he just randomly got on my carriage so I ran into another carriage but even then the door was between us and he just watched me the whole time :( I might be overreacting but I'm really really scared :(
Hey,
That sounds a bit intense. Normally I do trust my gut instinct, so if I’m feeling uncomfortable I am generally correct. If you are up for it, maybe start a conversation with him at the next combined event where you’ve got your friends and teachers around you. Otherwise if you are not comfortable, do you have any mutuals that you could suss the situation out through?
Hope this helps!

heyyy im in year 9 and i was wondering if i should go to social bc most of the accounts of social i've heard are of people who haven't eveN bEen to social so ya.
Hey there!
If you're a type of person who would enjoy getting to know more people in a ‘hyped’ environment, then go for it! But if you would rather stay at home and tune into some Netflix or pop on some cool tunes, then it’s fine to skip out on social as well.
Personally, I chose to go to junior social back in Year 9 and while it was a memorable experience with great people and some decent music, I found that it was too costly to go back for a second year (especially since no food was sold) :(.
We hope that you’ll be happy with whatever choice you make!

Hey fam!! I'm in year 11, and I see so many girls (almost every girl) at Macrob close to at least a handful of MHS boys. i'm genuinely curious as to how you even meet/get to know them? I do see them here and there but i can't simply approach them (I have no idea how to). Seeing as i'm in year 11, most MHS & macrob ppl have already formed their friendships, so i feel like it's too late.
Hey there!
It’s certainly never too late to form friendships especially with the close relationship that Macrob has with MHS in terms of events. You could try joining a few productions/ combined musicals or orchestral events - if that’s your thing. If not, a fast way to meeting a few MHS students would be through having a leadership position (a lot of collaboration there).
Another way you can meet some MHS guys is through your friends. You can ask them “hey, would you be able to introduce me to some of your MHS friends?” , and most people would be like sure! I think this is a common way for people to expand their connections, not just with MHS guys.
Parties are also a good place to meet them. Usually everyone’s in a “friendly mood” at parties and wouldn’t mind making some new friends or at the very least socialise with new people. It is also a great opportunity to be introduced to friends of friends - some of who may go to MHS.
But with all this being said, MHS guys aren’t essential, I can’t remember the last time I talked to one. Try talking to some guys who went to your old school, if you went to a co-ed school, or even primary school. Also, don’t feel like you have to be friends with an MHS guy - just get to know or spend time with people you genuinely would like to be friends with.
Hope this has helped you!

is the year 12 formal and valedictory both with mhs?? im not in year 12 but i probably wont go if there'll be mhs boys cos parents and stuff... just wondering thanks xx
Hi there,
The guys who are at Year 12 formal are just dates of MacRobbians who have invited them along. There will be a number of MHS boys there considering how close our schools are. Valedictory is just a MacRob event with family and maybe some really close friends, so they’re generally siblings or relatives of the MacRobbian.
Hope this helps!

hi fam! i don't attend mr but i was wondering if u guys could help me with some boy troubles ~ i went to mhs social, became close with a guy from mhs and i think he may be reciprocating my feelings? the only thing i'm pretty effy about is not attending macrob considering that there is a strong connection between mhs and mr. i can't help but compare myself to macrob kids and i saw that he used to be close with a girl from your school and apparently smth went down between them. pls help a girl out
Hey there,
Just go for it. Sure a lot of macrob and mhs get together, but that’s only because we see each other often. But there are just as many people who get with people from other schools too. It really just boils down to how much you like him. And if you both like each other, why should anything else matter. Even if he was close to another girl, are they going out? Are they even remotely a thing? If not then don’t worry about it and focus on your friendship/relationship with him.
Good luck,
FAM xx
