This is the first time I am trying to #grow my own vegetables! My dad was generous enough to give me #space in his garden in the backyard and helped me get the garden ready for planting in the beginning of June. It was a little late in the planting season the way I understood it for the Chicagoland area, but I love produce and nature and saw how I could #benefit from working on a long term project... so... So far so good! One of my main goals for my first season is to spend as little money as possible. I considered buying a terrace for the cucumbers to grow on, but a fallen tree branch from a recent #storm I am hoping will work just as well. I cut it and stripping mini branches and then secured them together with pieces of old metal clothes hangers. Total cost: 2.5 hours of my time.
