Marlene glanced over to Mary, flicking through a muggle magazine.

Marlene shrugged, "I guess I could take a break", she closed her book.

Mary smiled, patting a spot on the bed next to her. Marlene came over.

"How about this?" Mary pointed to a dress Marie Helvin was wearing.

"It's nice?"

Mary laughed, "Nice?"

"I don't know", Marlene huffed, "You'd look in anything."

"Oh yeah?" She quirked a brow.

"Yeah."

Mary smiled and closed the magazine, "I'll wait for Emmeline... why don't we do something else?"

"Like what?" Marlene inched slightly closer to her friend.

Mary winked, "Grab your book, I'll quiz you!"

"Oh."

"What you don't wanna study anymore?"

"No, no. It's fine. Let's do it", Marlene lifted herself off the bed and made her way over to the desk.

"Great", Mary clapped, "Oh, I'll just grab my quill, I left it in the common room."

As Mary shut the door behind her, Marlene sighed and jumped down onto her own bed.

The bathroom door opened and Lily came out, a towel wrapped around her, "What's up with you?"

"Mary."

"Ah", Lily nodded, knowingly, "Good luck with that."

the thing is i’ve written like. mini dormarylene for that one richard siken drabble game ages ago…wasn’t actually dormarylene tho it was unrequited dormary w past dorlene post-marlene death 😝 like i lowkey love the idea of marylene happening first but it’s like casual friend hookup thing…then dorlene happens but mary’s been into dorcas for ages so she’s on the sidelines pining…then dormarylene happens in like the messiest & most toxic way possible w dorlene fighting or something & dormary hookup & then marlene & mary fighting abt the dormary hookup until eventually one night they all get wasted & fuck <3

honestly i just think all these characters r so fun to play around w bc they’re basically OCs BUT i have established pretty clear characters for them in my own brain so they feel like real characters…also sooooo much potential for angst in a canon compliant setting like mary losing BOTH her girlfriends?? ur joking

hello! i’m back! this is really short- just about 200 words, but i hope y’all enjoy!

“Dorcas, eh?” Mary sat- perched, really- on the end of my bed, dressed in warm, soft red and gold pajamas. “You have a type, Marls.”

“I suppose.” I leaned down to kiss her chastely, giving a playful tug to one of her dark coils of hair. “It’s just you now, ladybird. You know that.” Her face scrunched up at the endearment- full, pink lips pursing. I gave a small laugh and pulled away. “You comin’ to the match tomorrow?”

“Lily’s goin’, so I don’t have much of a choice.” Her dark eyes tracked me as I crouched down to open my trunk, pulling out a set similar to hers. “You’d’ve better win, otherwise I’ll consider it a wasted morning.” She threw herself backwards on the bed, laying down, and I snorted. 

I hummed noncommittally, pulling the soft jumper over my head. “As long as I have my good luck charm,” I murmured, crawling onto the bed and positioning myself over her, pushing a messy curl away from her forehead. “I think I’ll do just fine.” I pressed my lips softly to her cheek and rolled to my side. “C’mere.” Merely a breath passed before she did just that, maneuvering her soft form into my arms. I grinned as she tucked her head into my neck, pressing a gentle kiss there.

But it is there: it is real. Real as the air in her lungs and the breeze in her hair. And that softness is worth it all.

Fight with me. I will fight with you. For you. Side by side, back to back. For hope, for future, for what they believe. Through whatever may come. There would be doubt. There would be danger. But there is always her. Always her.

MY MUSE HAS BEEN ACTING STRANGE

Homesickness. It happened from time to time: most days she was fine, but there were others that her smiles faded and she spoke less than usual, and that’s how one knew Aylen was thinking of past days. Thinking of her family and the clan, to whom she told herself she could not return.

Martine had obviously noticed the change. She found her on the Jeshavis deck, so early in the morning the sun had yet to show its light, gazing into the ocean and far to the horizon. She approached quietly, a blanket in one hand and a steaming cup of hot tea in the other.

“Mon oisillon,” she called in a whisper to catch the woman’s attention. Aylen turned, green eyes gleaming slightly at the light of the lanterns lit on the deck. Martine took one more step to close the remaining distance between them and wrap the blanket around Aylen’s shoulders, and then Aylen accepted the cup offered to her to take a sip, the tea bringing some warmth and comfort.

Aylen’s lips curled into a small smile, and when Martine moved to her side to keep her company she took the chance to lean her head on her shoulder.

She gave a sigh, long but quiet, watching the horizon as she’d been before- but now she wasn’t alone.
