Something I love about Leo is that, canonically, he IS capable of cooking, he’s just completely incapable of using a toaster. He’s banned from the kitchen not out of an inability to make edible food, but because being within six feet of a toaster causes the poor appliance to spontaneously combust.

I'm not going to bring the mood down with details and drudgery, but obviously life in the Park Service is pretty bleak right now. It really says a lot about your skills and the strength of your application that you were hired during a period of time in which literally everything is working against you. I hope you have an amazing season and that it leads to great things. Congratulations a hundred times over. Enjoy that badge.

And this year could be very weird, with some hiring freezes still in place---parks may lose qualified applicants and thus have last-minute spaces to fill. Getting old is interesting. I've always been a middle ground between sports (skateboarding, surfing, jiu-jitsu) and an avid student. Over time, it's clear that you can't keep trying the same tricks, just as you can't study the same way.

Today, as I'm writing an article about event-driven architectures, I realize that final exams in college were much easier, just like it's not as easy to jump the same stairs on a skateboard as I did when I was 18. In the image, you can see my favorite note-taking app, Obsidian, and my Neovim terminal. I'm diving deep into Java, and for that, I'm taking a Spring Boot bootcamp offered by Claro through the DIO Innovation One platform.

few days away from graduation and my brother asks me "so what is your degree in" buddy at this point i don't know either

They want to assassinate me so bad.

I am now being actively courted by TWO master's programs at the university. Terrible dilemma, etc.

who was gonna tell me one of the most crushing parts of adulthood is the allusion of freedom, sometimes decisions are made for you and you just have to smile through it and try to be positive while screaming inside bc you thought you were finally old enough to make choices for yourself (not in this economy i’m not!)

Very busy week because I’m moving to a new city, but coding must go on!

After countless containers and virtual machines, I finally made a repository for my dotfiles, including Neovim, Tmux, Lazygit, etc. It’s so much simpler to grab my configurations from clone a repo, instead, I was used to send via FTP or something like that.

This week, I’ve been working on a short and simple video about using Kafka with the customizer terminal and Tmux. It’s incredibly easy to manage sessions by splitting them, which we use a lot because Zookeeper server and Kafka brokers still in single window each (If is local machine).

In the picture, I’m using the Kitty terminal with Tmux and 3 open windows: Neofetch, a CLI Pomodoro timer, and Lazygit.

In the YouTube window, the title in japanese means "Hikaru Utada playlist for a rainy day" I love hear this type of playlist while studying. I’ll leave the link to the playlist in case you want to listen too, just click here.

🌧 my study and daily reflections☕

☕ When I reconnected with my friend from my old uni last year, I was still in postgraduate school and feeling overwhelmed by my dissertation. I hadn't been writing consistently, and my motivation had dwindled. My friend, who happens to be a PhD researcher, shared some valuable advice with me. She suggested incorporating writing into my daily routine, starting right after waking up. Just like brushing your teeth is an instinctive action, she encouraged me to make writing a dissertation a natural part of that routine. Although it might be challenging initially, she assured me that it would gradually become easier. And she was right. I successfully passed my dissertation with a merit. So, I decided to apply this approach to my current study schedule as well.

☕ Random motivational quotes have personally been helpful to me, even if they may seem cliché. They truly made a difference in keeping me motivated. I make notes with these quotes and place them on my desk, so I'm reminded to stay focused on my progress every time I sit down to work.

☕ Studying helps me with depression. In a way, studying is kind of an escape for me, keeping me distracted from depression, but in a good way. I've noticed that I feel less and less depressed when I'm studying.

☕ Tidying up my desk before I go to bed and always ensuring that the kitchen looks tidy, including keeping the sink empty and washing dishes. Makes me feel motivated to prepare delicious food and make a cup of coffee before diving into my study time. It's exactly what I've been doing.

one more week of my Bachelor’s degree and the demons in my brain are trying to convince me to get an MBA.

#specifically concentrating in Public Administration which would be widely applicable since i work for the state #and like. it’s a one year program it’s VERY affordable my courseload would be way less #i’m not really seeing any downsides here…#except for another year of my sanity - obviously #but hopefully a little less so since the semesters are longer and i’d be taking less courses #and i’ll take a break obviously - not jump right into it right now #probably would start it in January…#and continue to work on professional development in the meantime obviously #to get that sweet sweet mix of academic knowledge AND professional experience #idk… i think it could be fun…#or maybe it could be miserable..#but it could be WORTH IT…#people already like me at work… but with a Master’s degree i would be irresistible
