Saint Ludmila (c. 860 – 15 September 921) is a Czech saint and martyr venerated by the Orthodox and the Roman Catholics. She was the daughter of the Sorbian prince Slavibor. Saint Ludmila was the grandmother of Saint Wenceslaus, who is widely referred to as Good King Wenceslaus…

May 16 - Jan Nepomuk Memorial Day
Tumblr media
On May 16, the Catholic Church celebrates the day of St. Jan Nepomuk, the patron saint of priests, rafters, millers and bridge builders.
Jan Nepomucky (Jan Nepomucky) is a Czech priest, a holy martyr.
Czech King Wenceslaus IV (1378-1419) constantly clashed with the highest clergy of the country, defended the priority of secular power and interfered in church affairs, considering the Prague archbishopric one of his main opponents in domestic politics.

A painting by Josef Mathauser. "The Death of Jan Nepomuk".
On the morning of March 20, 1393, during a meeting between King Wenceslaus IV and Archbishop Jan of Prague, the king ordered the capture and imprisonment of the former in the retinue of Archbishop Jan Nepomuk, Mikulas Puhnik, Wenceslaus Knobloch and Nepra from Ropov. Soon, Yang's comrades were released, and Yang died of excruciating torture on the day of his arrest. After that, his body was dumped in a bag from the Charles Bridge into the Vltava River. The murder of Jan Nepomuksky had a wide resonance, it served as a reason for the overthrow of Wenceslaus from the German throne.
According to legend, in the very place where the body of the saint sank into the Vltava, a glow in the form of 5 stars appeared above the water, since then Nepomuksky has been depicted with five stars above his head.
The veneration of Jan by Czech Catholics as a saint and martyr began in the XV century. He was canonized in 1729. Jan Nepomutsky is considered the patron saint of Prague and the whole Czech Republic. Commemoration in the Catholic Church - May 16.

1, 4, 6, 10, 13?
1. Who’s the oldest character of yours that you still use?
Dear old Aren :’)
4. Any minor characters that have either taken over or branched off into their own stories?
Not particularly? Definitely none that have branched into their own stories, but some have expanded their role. I hesitate to clearly give a yes or no answer because the characters that have grown have more so grown into their roles and I’ve gotten better at treating them like the characters they should be rather than prop or filler. Or they’ve taken over my interest like gosh darn Mathauser who I shouldn’t know or talk so much about lmao
6. When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the written concept first?
Depends! Aren, for instance, was just a sketch I made after watching Tron: Legacy and ended up really liking. Isley, also, began visually. Hence why she’s the cutest little cupcake and actually a piece of shit human being. Oops.
Most of the Quest Crew began as written concepts I built around Aren and once I drew them they ended up subtly changing until written matched the organically derived visuals.
10. Is there a character that explores your interests or fetishes (orrrr is that just all of you characters)?
I don’t think there’s any one character that can claim to be THE outlet for my interests… Aspects of my personality and life experiences, sure, but I kind of toss my interests onto characters haphazardly. And then of course I feel ridiculous so there are plenty of characters that have none at all. As for fetishes….. Mathauser and Isley might have one apiece…… Oh, and Orenna…….
13. Do you create playlists for your characters?
Nope! But I do have a couple songs here and there attached to characters and I’m not always sure why. Eyes on Fire (Zeds Dead Remix) for Aren, Glory and Gore for a full group of OCs I’ve left on the backburner, Bones (Bkken Remix) for Tyv, Breezeblocks for Isley.
You know, I could probably make some playlists right now lol

I had a sudden realization about a bunch of my OCs in a Full Metal Alchemist AU so I tossed out a series of quick sketches on Twitter. Then I decided to try something I’ve seen a lot of other folks do but have never done myself, which is to color a photo taken of a traditional drawing? It was weird and I hated struggling with levels to get the lines as black and white as possible and it’s slightly more messy than I’m comfortable with. That said, it was a lot faster than redrawing it digitally (or even just drawing digitally to begin with. I’m so much faster traditionally ORZ)!
I doubt I’ll post the rest of the very quick and horrible sketches here but I guess ask if you’d like to see them anyway.

I've been messing around in my longstitch with the Rives paper. It's not my favorite for watercolor, but it does do remarkably well and I can paint on both sides of a page!
I post more often and individually on both Instagram and Twitter so head there if you want more updates+sketches!
