Matthew 1:22
τοῦτο δὲ ὅλον γέγονεν ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν ὑπὸ υρίου διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος·
and this whole thing came to be, that completed was the thing promised from a lord through the speech of a prophet:
Notes:
ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν: a complex phrase, difficult to render properly in English. Taken here as "that completed was the thing promised..."
ἵνα: a conjunction that might have a spatial sense ("there, where") or a causal sense ("that, in order that"). I have taken it causally here because the immediately preceding γέγονεν often has the sense of "becoming" or "coming to pass" but the spatial sense is plausible.
πληρωθῇ: primary verb of the ἵνα clause, subjunctive. From πληρόω, literally "to make full, complete." Might be taken more idiomatically here as "fulfill."
ῥηθὲν: neuter nominative singular substantive aorist passive participle from ἐρῶ, "say, proclaim." In the passive can take on the sense of agreement or promise. Taken here as "the thing promised."
~~~
There is no definite article ("the") with κυρίου ("lord"), thus I have taken κυρίου "of a lord" where many translators have it "of the lord."
~~~
The definite article τοῦ could accompany προφήτου ("prophet") or λέγοντος ("speech"). I have taken it here with λέγοντος, leaving προφήτου with no definite article, in the attributive position. Thus "through the speech of a prophet" rather than "through speech of the prophet."
Although τοῦ is grammatically able to accompany either προφήτου or λέγοντος, since the preceding κυρίου has no definite article, I am inclined to assume that προφήτου follows suit and is indefinite in the attributive position.

So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
“But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.
“Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
Matthew 22:10-14
Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Romans 13:14
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:8
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Colossians 3:12
If we say we are his, we must follow the example of Christ.

A Prophecy Concerning Jesus
Now all this happened, that the thing which was spoken from THE LORD JEHOVAH by the Prophet would be fulfilled: “Behold the virgin shall conceive, and she shall bear a son, and they shall call his Name Emmanuel, which is translated, ‘Our God is with us'“. — Matthew 1:22-23 | Peshitta Holy Bible Translated (PESH) The Peshitta Holy Bible Translated by Glenn David Bauscher Copyright © 2018 Lulu Publishing; 3rd edition Copyright © 2019. God is testing our hypocrisy, revealing the truth behind what we say and how we live. As it says in Matthew 15:8, 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.' We may hide from others, but not from God. He sees our hearts, like it says in 1 Samuel 16:7, 'People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.' We are called to live out our faith, not just speak it. James 1:22 reminds us to be 'doers of the word, not hearers only.' Through these trials, God refines us, testing our hearts like silver in the furnace (Proverbs 17:3).

Matthew 1:1, 17 (NIV). “This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham: Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.”
Romans 8:15 (NLT). “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (NLT).“It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.”
“A Promise Kept” By In Touch Ministries:
“God has been transforming lives throughout history and will do the same today for anyone who trusts Him.”
“The first chapter of Matthew’s gospel records the lineage of Jesus. Starting with Isaac, the miracle child born to Abraham, there are 42 generations until the universe-altering event of the Savior’s birth. Among the names listed, there are schemers, prostitutes, murderers, kings, and idol worshippers. Many of these men and women had their lives transformed by God and, by His miraculous workings, were given a place of honor in the ancestry of Christ.
The same God who orchestrated it all is the one who promises us eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ. The Bible records God’s faithfulness in keeping promises made to us, His children. He has reassured us that we who are born again have a place in His family (Romans 8:15). And the Holy Spirit has been given to us as a pledge, ensuring we will receive our eternal inheritance (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
We need only enter into a personal relationship with Christ. There are no additional specifications to meet, and God’s blessings belong to us the instant we become His children. Our Father has promised, and we can count on Him.”

Jesus is Coming
Some years ago I was walking around the reception tables after a wedding I had performed. An older woman approached me with a question. Almost everyone present at this particular wedding had come from a high church liturgical tradition. In their tradition, they had sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly recited either the Apostle’s Creed or the Athanasian Creed. But apparently, she hadn’t been…

Choose your Podcast App to Play this episode Although this is Christmas for some, many can not celebrate with family. Christo-Centric Reflection on Psalm 24
Today we heard a message from one of our newly ordained pastors on Psalm 24. It was a good reminder that when we (Christians) read the psalms, we read through the lens of the New Testament, Christ, and the resurrection. We are built up in our most holy faith (Jude 1:20) on the foundation of the Old Testament Law and Prophets and the New Testament Apostles and prophets of which Christ is the…
