eleneripenneth replied to your photo: “Work on Genophage… was more than just study. Gideon hates this big...”:
Oh, this is so true. So painfully true. And it's an important part of Mordin's redemption arc. But it still hurts, dammit. Poor Gideon.
Mordin's character arc is just so utterly painful.
I mean, especially considering how through out Mass Effect 2, it is all about him trying to reason his actions in continuing the genophage. He might not have created it, but he continued it. And Mordin never stops struggling with it.
He talks about using numbers and stimulations -- all very scientific methodology -- to justify it first.
This is literally the very first conversation you get with Mordin. He gloss over with it being about his capabilities rather than his regrets.
But in that one moment, when, or if, Shepard asks if it was truly the best option. Mordin loses it. His speech goes faster than even normal and he is so desperate to say, "look the numbers don't lie. this is the best for everyone."
He paces, his arms wave, he needed to believe that the numbers never lied to him.
Then as it turns out, in his loyalty mission, you realized he never really believed the numbers anyway. That he actually turned to other form of faith outside of his species to find the answer to his action. He actually had to explore realms that is not his expertise to continue justifying the genophage to himself.
He kept trying to believe that modifying the genophage was the right decision.
Then Eve rolled around and he actually got a chance to talk to someone that was severely affected by his action. There was no escaping and no reasoning he could crawl himself into anymore.
Then it all crumbled and in the end, if the right circumstances are met, Mordin -is- willing to defy even Shepard, even when his body is failing him, and he is bleeding out. His last actions is to desperately crawl to the terminal.
I think, maybe it is knowing he was going most likely going to die old age anyway. And that he also know that he is famous enough for an autobiography.
And that maybe instead of seashells, he dreamed that instead of the book being titled as "The Best Kept Secret and Genius of the Salarian STG"... it might be titled as "The Salarian That Gave the Krogans a Second Chance".
The Salarians might not write it.
But I think the Krogans and their shamans will.

Ign and a reviewer are saying Jaal is straight
It seems like this dude, who has played 60 hours of it, said Jaal isn’t open to be with a guy.
Took me awhile to find the link, because it wasn’t on any major review sites.
Otherwise – that is really unfortunate! … I have to take back my previous stance on BioWare limiting the sexuality spectrum onto humans in that case.
Boo!

I don't understand the current situation in Hong Kong.. Can u please tell me what is about and all.. Sorry for bothering tho
Right! No problem, anon!
First, a little background explanation of Hong Kong to those that are not aware.
Hong Kong was a British colony that was given back to China in 1997. When this took place, China have previously agreed with the British that Hong Kong will retain its political individuality away from China, which was toted that there will be “one country, two systems”. For most part, Hong Kong operated almost like if it is still an independent country, with its own police force, currency, and political system that’s independent of China.
At the moment, Hong Kong elects its chief executive (the head representative of HK) by having numerous voting sessions to elect an Election Committee. This Election Committee — consisting of 1200 people — will then vote for the next chief executive. It is a roundabout way to elect a representative, but at the moment, HK citizens are still electing their own representatives.
Tension have however been increasing ever since that China have insisted on modifying our public school curriculum to make it more “Beijing-friendly” and more “patriotic”.
In addition to the education modifications, in August, China have announced that HK will follow a new system. For the 2017 election, China have “proposed” that China is to pre-elect candidates from Beijing’s own authorities.
This of course means that HK will no longer have a political system that is outside of China’s jurisdiction. And this is a BIG deal.
At the moment, a lot of HK’s economy relies on its political status. If China does succeed in implementing this system, HK’s economical system and business systems will start to undergo drastic changes in order to match up with China’s demands. In additional to this, China also have media and internet blockages, and this might also expand to Hong Kong.
In other words, this protest is important and possibly a huge tipping point to how Hong Kong will be in the future as a city.
Hopefully that makes sense!

jupiterjames replied to your post “Seriously, hearing Leliana again… talking to her… you can really see...”
Her character progression has been so impressive. I really felt nothing but love talking to her again. Wanted to do the southern thing and give her lemonade and pie and tell her to vent.
I KNOW, RIGHT?
Leliana used to be just... okay with me, but I think over the series, she just kinda shot through and became my favourite character.
So. Much. Depth.
AND I KNOW RIGHT? The girl so needs to vent. I don't know how far you are in the game, but man, there was a certain part that just made me want to hug her and never let her go.

jicklet replied to your photo “Log Update. I can’t figure Miranda out. As Project Director, she...”
Interesting how so many people agree with this guy who got jealous and power-hungry and tried to kill you :|
Unfortunately, I think he is not the last person to actually consider Miranda as an "Ice Queen" or a "cold-hearted bitch".
At least, from what I remember. It has been awhile since I replayed ME2.
Though yes, it is actually really unfortunate how Miranda is mostly interpreted as a bitch by the fanbase. I blame it on the "I am not here to be your friend, Shepard" conversation. Which is all sort of weird, because Miranda is a completely different person after Freedom's Progress.
In fact, Miranda is actually very nice and helpful after the completion of Freedom's Progress. And I actually have a giant character meta to why Shepard gets this whiplash. I mean, aside from bad writing. Unfortunately, Miranda is plagued by bad writing decisions in her initial dialogue with Shepard. And I do think it shows big time.
Basically, I'd really love to chalk it as a bad interpretation of Miranda, it would be a lot simpler to explain... but really, I also see the writers to be blamed here as well.
You can sort of tell that the majority of the writing team just simply thought Miranda as "Ice Queen". It is a giant shame, because you can see the writer that is actually writing Miranda probably thought very differently and really didn't see her as an Ice Queen at all.

*enages drama-evasion mode* GDI why can’t anything to do with BioWare ever just be *nice*!? >_<
I think it is less about nice and just more about... just staying at their lane. They basically need a proficient PR team.
Like before, I used to be appreciative of Gaider's talks about how sexism is a problem and it needs to be beaten... but now he seems to presume he understands the source of every problem. And it looks like Weekes is starting to exhibit that as well.
Anyway, they need to shut up, listen more, and focusing on doing what they are actually good at. Just because they are aware of something, it doesn't mean they -know- the magic cure to it.

eleneripenneth replied to your photoset “Welp. Dragon Age: Origin replay. MEET NIYRA AEDUCAN. I don't...”
Oh, she's FABULOUS! There's not enough Aeducans out there. I hope you'll post/write about her as often as she lets you!
hot-elf replied to your photoset “Welp. Dragon Age: Origin replay. MEET NIYRA AEDUCAN. I don't...”
She's cute!
Thank yoooou!!! Niyra will probably be curtseying and going all, yes. I am very cute. Bask in my cuteness.
(Seriously though, I am glad you guys find her so cute :DDD)
I'll definitely make an attempt to write more of her since there are waaay too little Aeducans. And even less female Aeducans.
(Other than Aimo's Lady A and breadedsinner's Hervor Aeducan, I can't think of any other, do let me know if I am wrong though!)
breadedsinner replied to your photoset “Welp. Dragon Age: Origin replay. MEET NIYRA AEDUCAN. I don't...”
[Drops in] You have a canon Aeducan Warden, and a super cute one at that? Why was I not informed?
Hahaha, I think I've dropped a few references to her passingly. I generally just don't talk much about my canon Warden/Hawke/Shepard. Even more so with Dragon Age because... I just have waaaay too many Wardens and Hawkes.
She spares Harrowmont and goes back to Orzammar to become a paragon by endgame.
(So, I totally headcanon away about Harrowmont's terrible rulership. None of that happens. Of course, DA:I might completely throw that out of the window...)
I'll make more attempts to screenshot and talk about her! :D
Likewise, I'd love to see more of Hervor too!

Scars ARE important, yes… Liara can mention the VS, but only for being “shortsighted”. As if Kaidan and Ash just aren’t helping anymore. Sadly it sets the tone or the VS treatment for the rest of the series.
springagainafter replied to your post: “breadedsinner replied to your post “breadedsinner replied to your...”:
Liara'll mention the VS if you go Renegade during the "how are you" option in the cabin scene. She says she heard about what Ash or Kaidan said and then says that their shortsightedness doesn't diminish what Shep's accomplished. :/
Whaaaat. No way.
I never went through Liara's conversation with a loyal VS romance... but that's what she says?
Damn. :(
...
I'll make sure Gideon doesn't pick that.
Gah. What a bitter pill.

breadedsinner replied to your post: So. You guys want to know how much Gid...
Aww, he loves her so much. He has such a pained expression (side note that lip scar hot damn).
I think Gideon seriously thinks Ashley as his world post-ME1. So, Horizon is... pretty... world turning for him.
He is used to being betrayed, but I think he just thinks that Saren and the Geth were so different from his gang days. Surely, his relationships during that time means a lot more than his gang days.
I think he questions a lot about his time in the Alliance now.
(and gideon's lip scars are so important)

I'm going to cling to this. It's so beautiful. Damn the Illusive Man...

Evidently they're also reblogging people's selfies. >.<
Okay. That’s just REALLY not cool and it’s super gross. I feel like tumblr should be doing something about it, BUT I AM NOT REALLY SURPRISED THAT THEY AREN’T.
I don’t really post my pictures here (so at least there’s that), but I hope blocking them wards them off.

Which ME2 batarian are you referring to? I can't quite seem to recall that particular scene and now it's bugging me. D: Also, HI MOMMY! X3
He is the batarian that initially scans Shepard when they first meet Aria.
He is also the batarian that gets slapped with a datapad when you find indiscriminating evidence that the gangs are trying to make their move against Aria.
It just seems awfully fitting for him to be Bray.
AND HI MY LOVELY CHILD.

:( And it's also annoying because that's a nice response for Shepard in terms of roleplaying because it involves referring to Ash or Kaidan as one of their closest friends and admitting being frustrated with Cerberus/the Council/everything in general
Gah. I have a feeling I'll want to rip my hair out when Gideon gets there now.
The last thing he wants is for his friends or crew to badmouth Ash -- considering he understands where she is coming from. It is just painful that it isn't meant to be at the moment.
breadedsinner replied to your post: breadedsinner replied to your post: br...
Yeah, it’s just the start of “Liara is the only one who truly understands and is there for Shepard”. Ugh… when I do Bastian’s epic redo, I’m not even inviting her up. They are NOT that close.
Yeaaaaaaaah... Gideon and Liara have the exact same problem. I mean, I like Liara, but... Gideon rescued her last. So, there really wasn't any time for that sort of attachment. Everything in ME1 between Gideon and Liara are strictly professional.
I still haven't come up with a reason why Liara will spend so much effort bringing Gideon back considering they've only known each other for that really short amount of time before the first Normandy went down.

That sultry look is well worth the wait! <3
Glad it was worth it!
jupiterjames replied to your post: “jupiterjames replied to your post: “jupiterjames replied to your post:...”:
I actually liked her best as just a friend in ME3. She was warm with Shepard like I'd hoped Liara would have been. Liara was just weird the way she was a forced LI. I always felt like I was cheating on Kaidan they way Shep and Liara talked. :/
Ah yes...
Liara.
She is actually my favorite Mass Effect character.
As long as I stay away from the mess they made with her in ME3.
I always feel Liara really got the short end of the stick here. I mean... yeah, her friendship route totally plays out like a forced romance.
And when you get to her romance, her romance plays out almost like a half-dismissed friendship-romance-clusterfuck.
Anyway, yeah, I totally agree. They totally should have toned Liara down on her friendship routes and then tone it up in Liara's romance routes. BioWare really dropped the ball on Liara.
Thank god Miranda didn't go down that route though. They totally wrote her friendship perfectly there.

people who think she's boring haven't talked to her enough. in my first playthrough i thought she was boring but when i started a new game i realised that i'd barely spoken to her and made a point to do that more. i still don't like to take her with me bc of her armour. seriously I need an alt appearance pack asap with some proper protection for my girl
Oh yeah, god knows what BioWare was thinking with Cora’s armor design.
It is really noticeable since we now have f!Ryder’s “practical armor” in comparison. Though this can be changed if you get your Ryder to wear the N7 armor... then the boobs plate is back!
