Could I get a ScarVio Latios, whichever, Reader who pretended to be human to attend school? He can do what the Latias from the anime movie could do “bend light” to make himself look human. The Latios does have to be careful of anything accidentally bumping into him could go through the illusion (he isn’t a zoroark), but otherwise he has been enrolled for a few years. He already caught himself and hid his own Poke Ball so that worry is gone.

Latios can speak the native languages through telepathy.

Can you do Clavell, Arven, Kieran, or Penny’s reactions to being invited to the Latios’ dorm and he decided to reveal himself? Maybe he looks up to Clavell as a second uncle while the other three remind him of his sister who’s on the other side of the world. The point being he decided it might be time to finally tell someone he was actually a Pokemon, in case y’know the government looked closer at his records.

I just think it would be funny.

For years you've been able to disguise yourself as human to attend Paldea's academy, having always wanted to experience the daily life of one.

Aside from your red eyes, inability to speak (at least verbally), and your hair looking like the fins on your true form--you'd say you've blended in pretty well!

Not a single teacher nor student suspected you were a Latios, and you had every intention to keep it that way..

Until one day, a few months into your treasure hunt, you overheard Director Clavell discussing something with a few teachers..who claimed they saw you flying over Mesagoza.

Of course...you may have been chasing after something that day and forgot to turn invisible.

With telepathy, you're able to hide and hear their full conversation...and your heart drops when he suggests finding and capturing you so no other student risks their life trying to do the same-

It damn near terrifies you into almost breaking the illusion as you bump into a table whilst fleeing (you keep forgetting that you're no Zoroark, who are master of illusions).

It hurt a little to hear that from Clavell especially, who you looked up to like an uncle ever since he personally reprimanded the same bullies that the former director failed to punish for harassing you (the latter basically said it was your fault for never speaking up).

You've been attending this school since that huge fallout between Team Star and their own bullies, and you wanted to believe Clavell could be better than him in every way.

You just didn't wanna be shunned, expelled, and/or caught if he did find out about your records..and the lies you told on it.

But after he learns the truth of Team Star and allows the leaders back into the Academy, you find enough courage to request a meeting outside your dorm room, insisting you knew about the Latios that was recently sighted.

Although you quickly insist that he comes inside, and he grows concerned.

Surely this discussion could have been done inside his office..

However, Clavell soon realizes why you wanted him to come here specifically, as you revealed yourself to be that Latios, telepathically sharing everything:

Why you wanted to disguise yourself as human, the passion you had as a student at his Academy, how you admired him ever since he defended you and spoke up against Team Star, how you caught yourself in your own pokeball, etc.

You were fully ready to be expelled for this.

Not only have you lied to him and everyone else in the Academy..but you've also caused an uproar within the student body over your presence around Mesagoza.

Plus...surely he'd never believe a Pokémon could be a student. Something like that couldn't and shouldn't happen..

But while Clavell did have his suspicions when he looked at the records you submitted for enrollment...

Now he sees that even a Pokémon could have the same dream as a human student: to go on their own treasure hunt.

And to deny you that would make him feel guilty.

In the end, he allows you to continue your studies and promises to keep your identity a secret.

He only asks that you don't go flying around the plaza nor skip any classes.

Having attended BB Academy for a few years and being a League Club member, you'd see Kieran from time to time, struggling to make a name for himself and hiding behind his sister 24/7.

He keeps assuming you never spoke to him because he did something to make you mad...

Until one day when you defended him from some bullies and patched up some minor injuries he got from a Pokémon battle gone wrong.

In a way, he reminds you of your sister Latias..who lived on the other side of the world, yet was always in your heart.

He opened up surprisingly fast afterwards, and you became his first official friend! The one he'd always ramble about Ogerpon to, alongside some other legendaries he's read about.

He mentions Latios, which makes your heart skip a beat as he mentions dreaming about flying across the sky on one some day--but meeting Ogerpon is his greatest wish.

However when he left for Kitakami on a trip and came back less than a week later....he changed. Not for the better, but for the worst.

No longer did he cry to you about any bullies..but rather became just like those bullies.

The moment he walked into the club room with his hair up and jacket open, you sensed a strong shift in his aura.

It was dark, foreboding, cruel..anguished.

You already saw into his mind: being rejected by the Legendary he idolized, his dreams crushed by an outsider, being lied to over and over again...and a constant whisper that he is weak and has to be stronger and stronger and stronger.

He was hurting. But..what could you do?

Now he looks at you as just another club member, asking if you've been training your team and getting annoyed when he remembers you don't talk.

When Drayton says something snarky, he slams a hand on the table and startles you into nearly dropping your illusion.

Somehow nobody else sees it--except Kieran.

And he looks shocked, but you rush out of the room and flee the Academy, diving into the water as you turn into your true self.

You don't come back for a while, afraid that he saw who you truly were and believed he'll despise you for keeping this secret from him.

Eventually, though, you find yourself flying around the academy entrance again, invisible as you overhear him give a humble apology to Florian/Juliana...and you realize he has changed again--for the better this time.

It warms your heart, as you sense his aura is good.

Soon you invite him to your dorm, promising to explain everything to him.

And Kieran is surprised by your memorabilia of Latios and Latias, along with photographs you managed to take of the legendaries.

"Wowzers..you got to meet them both? You must've been a huge fan of them! Haha, kinda like how I was a fan of Ogerpon.." He chuckles.

You realize he's not fully understanding, so you ask him if he remembered the day you suddenly fled the club room..and it finally dawns on him.

"Wait, I remember..you did kinda look like Latios for a split-second. But I'm sure my eyes were just playing tricks on me. No way could you be-"

In a small bout of frustration, you show him that you are indeed a Latios, and he's absolutely stunned when he sees your true form and hears your actual voice inside his head.

He almost yells (out of amazement, not anger)--but you keep him quiet...and then he just starts awkwardly gushing and stammering like he used to about Ogerpon, but instead it's about you and the shock that he's been friends with a Legendary after all this time.

He feels bad for nearly exposing your secret, but you forgive him, answering any and all questions he had to the best of your ability.

You trust him enough to reveal the pokeball you caught yourself in--having managed to "cheat" the system by registering yourself as a trainer so that your Latios-self couldn't be caught by anyone.

Kieran just finds you to be SUPER cool fr.

Since he's always wanted to fly on the back of an Eon Pokemon, you decided to fulfill his dream and take a small flight around Unova's ocean.

He's terrified as HELL but at the same time couldn't be happier, clinging to your neck and grinning.

i know we're one archon off just enough to make the eight gym leaders in a pokemon au, but consider another approach: the archons as champions ft. some story ideas, i put a concerning amount of thought into this --

mondstadt champion venti (flying • fairy) is fought in secret, since no one can guess he's the champion. the mondstadt elite four are eula (ice • dark), klee (fire • fairy), jean (flying • grass) and finally diluc (fire • flying). venti is friends with celebi - as is nahida - and istaroth manifests as dialga. albedo is kind of like the professor for mondstadt, sucrose gives you your pokedex :] durin is yveltal. dvalin is rayquaza. no one knows about it, but kaeya is friends with articuno.

rhinedottir explores the abyss which is basically the genshin equivalent of the distortion world headed by giratina, aided by her signature hydreigon. dragonspine is our mt silver lol. alice has a delphox (klee has a fennekin) and mismagius. barbeloth, of the hexenzirkel, has a xatu. albedo has a garchomp. for some reason, i picture nicole with hatterene. mona has a cosmog!

zhongli is similar (rock • dragon). the order is hu tao (fire • ghost), yelan (water • dark), ganyu (ice • fairy) and finally xiao (flying • dark). childe boss, but he has like three typings - (water • dark)/(electric • dark)/(electric • water). he has a wailord and probably attempts to fight kyogre with his bare hands in fontaine. oh and his foul legacy is from palkia. the adepti are like pokemon rangers btw! and guizhong, after her death, appears also as a cosmog maybe? xiao has an absol, ganyu has suicune, hu tao has trevenant and spiritomb. azhdaha is groudon guys i'm sorry. ningguang is our professor archetype for liyue, and the pokedex is delivered by keqing on the orders of ningguang.

inazuma has two champions - one as the raiden shogun puppet (electric • steel), and one as ei herself (electric • fighting). ayaka (ice • steel), then kazuha (flying • steel) - but he gets exiled, and is replaced by ayato (water • steel). followed by kokomi (water • dragon), and finally yae miko (electric • fairy). yae miko has ninetales and zoroark, kokomi has milotic and nihilego! yes i know that's an ultra beast shhh. professor trope is yae miko, and you have to smuggle your confiscated pokedex with yoimiya and sayu's help.

sumeru champion nahida (grass • psychic), who is heeded by wanderer (flying • dark) as her deputy. wanderer is like n from pkmnbw, you fight him instead of the champion, the pseudo-champion. btw his signature would be a mega evolving banette. the first elite four member is dehya (fighting • fire), followed by cyno (electric • dark), then nilou (water • grass) who was recently appointed! and finally alhaitham (grass • flying). nilou's position used to be tighnari's (grass • poison) but since he left the akademiya, nilou took it. dehya has a female pyroar, nilou has lilligant. nahida and venti are familiars to celebi and the two formes of shaymin! rukkhadevata manifests as xerneas. apep is zygarde lol. token professor looks to be tighnari, but is really just nahida, and collei gives it to you.

for fontaine, i imagine furina (water • fairy) as the champion who sacrifices her position - and her life - so there's no seat of champion left. she later adopts the (water • dark) typing. the fontaine elite four is fought in this order: navia (rock • dark), wriothesley (ice • fighting), clorinde (electric • steel), and finally neuvillette himself (water • dragon OBVIOUSLY). alternatively, neuvillette assumes champion position and his seat as last member of elite four is supplanted by arlecchino (fire • dark)! neuvillette has a dragonair and is a familiar to kyogre, furina has lapras and manaphy/phione, arlecchino has a houndoom. additionally, lyney (fire • dark), lynette (flying • dark) and freminet (ice • steel) fight for arlecchino. ooh but imagine if they get ahold of latios and latias somehow, and use those to fight you! their signatures are gardevoir (lyney) and gallade (lynette) other than a pair of meowstic, and freminet has an empoleon as well as an espurr. sigewinne has a signature azumarill, and she's the professor! the pokedex you were meant to receive falls in the water, so freminet fishes it out for you.

Hazbin Pokemon (Part 1)

So I had a few ideas on pokemon teams around the Hazbin community and while some have interesting theories as to why, others are just based on either personality or what I could picture them with in a personal sense. So let's start with the Morningstar Family: (NOTE I may change some of Lilith's later on but I'm generally happy with Lucifer and Charlie's team of choice) Lucifer: Uxie -> Legends aren't technically legends for Angels so why can't they own them. Anyway, Uxie is the being/creator of knowledge, what was Lucifer sent down to hell for. Basically giving humans free will and the knowledge to use it. Uxie just seemed fitting. Reshiram -> The Dragon of Truth, again kind of self explanatory, for Lucifer he keeps him as a reminder that he made the choices he did and the truth is, they weren't all good choices. Reshiram is both a memory of the good and bad parts of him but he still holds it very dear to him. Pidgeot (Shiny) -> A golden giant cockatiel like bird, need I say more?, Honestly I just think it works but it's not my main bird for an obvious reason, you'll see who though shortly. Dubwool -> It's a cute goat/ram pokemon. Again nough said, I don't really have a reason behind this one, I just couldn't not add a goat like pokemon to his team. Hydrapple (Shiny) -> The golden apple, originally started off as an Applin but with time he got a strong shiny apple hydra. Cause why not? SirFetch'd (Shiny) -> Shiny golden duck, again need I say more, why wouldn't he have this golden boy. Yes it is his ace he often sends out in a panic. -------

Lilith: (Her team may change with time. I am open to suggestions) Azelf -> Having the will power to do whatever she wants in the palm of her hand. Depending on how she uses it will determine her path though. Meloetta -> A beautiful pokemon with an equally beautiful voice. (This one may change) Zoroark (Hisuian) -> A shapeshifting pokemon who looks quite haunting but quite beautiful too. Darkrai -> A pokemon that is given an equally bad rep and can cause quite horrifying nightmares, maybe even trap you in your own worst nightmare. Friend or foe, for her sake you better be a friend. Primarina -> Another angelic pokemon with a beautiful voice. Tends to be one of her main she uses far more often then Meloetta. Milotic -> Again just another beautiful and hard to obtain pokemon. -------

Charlie: Minun & Plusle (These are illusions, their true forms are Latios and Latias) -> These are Charlie's main supporters and protectors. If you see her out, these are usually the two you see with her the most, many have underestimated them and regretted it. Sylveon -> Honestly who doubted this?, an Eevee she genuinely couldn't decide what to evolve into so she just spent her time loving her little cutie for what she was and ended up with a Sylveon much later. Yes she is indeed spoiled. This is Charlie's main that she uses in battle. Togekiss -> Another pokemon mostly evolved out of love and admiration. Charlie hardly uses him but that doesn't seem to bother them at all. Bewear (Shiny) -> If Charlie was honest she had gotten this little one when it was a cute Stuffle, never really thinking just how big it'd get when she'd evolve. Yes Bewear loves Charlie and tends to be the most cuddly of her team. Bewear is also insanely protective of Charlie too, but don't worry she just gives people hugs of warning, bone crushing hugs of warning. Marowak (Hisuian) -> Honestly this one was just Charlie's bleeding heart taking in a crying Cubone, maybe a bit out of her own self need to help others and knowing exactly what it's like to not really have her folks around. Was she expecting him to evolve into a bone throwing little menace. No, does she loev him less for it, of course not.

omg I love this sm!! I do think Zayne would probably also have a Froslass or an Absol considering his Forseer lore and it just seems very fitting. I love Shaymin being part of his team like that is adorable. Him having an Alcremie would also be so delightful considering his love for sweets lol.

Also obviously it's a legendary but I think Rafayel being the guardian of Kyogre or something would be so cool, and would fit his lore a lot. Gothitelle would also be a fun addition, although maybe it fits Sylus better?

Sylus definitely has a Zoroark, like it just screams his vibe to me, and also it's just so freaking cool. For his legendary I think Giratina or Rayquaza would be sick.

Garchomp for Caleb would be perfect as well imo, considering how protective it is and it can also fly. Again, it's a legendary, but Latios or Latias would be awesome for him.

Headcanon: there's a couple of legendary pokemon who reside on Dotaku in absolute secret (minor ones like Suicune or Latios) who enjoy the fact that no one tries to bother them there

Whether Peach knows is mystery but either way she's not telling and doesn't care in the slightest unless it brings unwanted attention

Shes aware of the Raikou who passes by once or twice a year, and knows the Island could very well be in the flight path of a Zapdos, it's come by once before, but its a rare sighting to see them, and no ones encouraged to track them shoudl they think they saw them.

If asked, peach will wave it off as Zoroark. even though none reside on the island, no one needs to know that. Stantler can cause mass hallucinations and theyve got a big herd on Dotaku, or maybe a psychic type playing tricks on you did it.

But she knows theyre around. leaves them WELL alone.

I imagine they'd be like. a Zoroark or maybe some type of mythical Pokemon with shapeshifting powers, kinda like Latias and Latios. And once Sun and Moon got past the initial surprise of "?!?!?! friend is a pokemon?? hello???" they would IMMEDIATELY be ride or die for them. And once Y/N warmed up to them, they'd be basically inseparable. They'd be ready to take on the whole world together if need be.

As for Ururu and Jinta,,, Orphans rescued by Kisuke OR they could be young shapeshifting / illusion pokemon, because we do have examples of Zoroark (I think?) and Latias taking human form to hide among humans!

I do love the thought that people start thinking Kisuke is Legendary dhshd Not only does his research into Legendaries support this in their eyes, but once they finally learn of Kaito and how he looks SO MUCH like his dad- they're convinced it has to be a Manaphy/Phione situation chxhx or maybe a Latios / Latias situation dhdh Kaito, startled by the sudden implication that he could be a Legendary as well (which, Giratina's presence would potentially affirm in these people's eyes)

Tessai gets Beloved Uncle status,,, Kisuke is Father and Tessai is Uncle or Uncle Tessai. Maybe Yoruichi gets Aunt and Aunt Ichi (latter when he was younger) since THIS Kaito got to have them on his life for so much longer

But also I think Uryuu and Kaito get into long conversations about Kisuke's research, even after meeting Kisuke directly. Initially because Uryuu would find asking Kisuke about his work DIRECTLY would be pretty intimidating to him, Kaito would be a bit more approachable since they're around the same age. Of course, Kisuke gets pulled into the conversation if he's around more often then not, especially as Uryuu gets more comfortable around them and Kisuke proves to really not be like Ryuuken.

Okay, but you KNOW Kisuke is going to lightly friendly tease Kaito about the popularity of the papers Kaito inspired once they eventually get over the initial shock- Like, "awww, a true researcher since you were little, you knew exactly the sort of thing they wanted answers for~ I couldn't have done it without you, kid" and Kaito is just pleading that he doesn't TELL people that he only wrote those papers because of little Kaito's questions- It's EMBARRASSING and surely not super relevant-?

I mean, he isn't entirely wrong! Yoruichi did help hide a bunch of stuff, but there's also taking into consideration probably none of them posting any images online since leaving the Seireitei. Kaito is probably the only one with a (known) social media presence and he, like his father, probably doesnt think much about posting images of himself dbdh (Yoruichi does have a social media account, but its like, an uncover fake account for the sake of monitoring things kind of situation)

Ok but depending on when Kisuke gets suspicious of Aizen,,, Imagine him bringing a little baby Kaito to meetings with him because they wouldn't let him skip and, sorry, you couldn't PAY him to care more about the meeting then his kid and Kaito was being too fussy for nap time and wanted to stay with dad. Hiyori being frustrated over having to be the serious one for their division because her captain is too busy with his new baby.

Professor Kisuke being the cryptid of the pokemon research world is so fucking funny yet so on brand. Man really posts incredibly thorough research with well thought conclusions (though the initial inception of the experiments seem almost spontaneous and on a whim) and then doesn't answer questions unless you ask them in person. Which is a problem, since no one knows where his lab is aside from the general region he lives in, he doesn't seem to travel to any of the conventions, and somehow has almost no online presence??? He's a mystery all on his own /silly

It's funny that you point out Kaito doesn't introduce himself with his last name, because to be entirely fair, I don't think the wider pokemon research world even KNOWS Kisuke has a kid (potentially 2 if he's adopted Uryuu here too). So even if they found out his name was discovered to be Urahara, I think people would initially sort of laugh it off as a funny coincidence because it probably wouldn't have occurred to them that Kiskue might already have a kid old enough to go on their adventure.

It's perfect if Kaito doesn't yet reveal that 'Professor Urahara' is his dad because wow, that professor seemed really excited and he needs a minute to process this before he escalates to THAT conversation.

I'M CRYING, Kisuke desperately trying to get Kaito to explain only for Kaito to ignore him, give him a quick update on how his journey has been going since the last time they called as a check in, and then HANG UP

Bonus points if the professor he's talking to that found his response familiar THINKS KAITO IS JUST ALSO A FAN of Kisuke's work and NOT HIS SON. Kaito is keeping that shit to his chest for now, though he's internally amused that wow, his father must really be a hermit if there (seems) to be no photos for people to compare him against because he DOES look a TON like his dad. (Though to be fair, Kisuke and Yoruichi probably covered their tracks and scrubbed their online presence fairly well when they left the Sereitei region)

Omg Yoruichi is the in game plot armor that minimizes the realistic affects world ending plots would normally have /silly

God, we could probably go AWHILE on trying to convert Aizen's plan into something that fits the pokeworld and how Ichigo was supposed to fit into his plan and so on but for now that's probably not really necessary unless we're gonna talk about Kaito running into him or any of his subordinates. Though it might be interesting to consider how Baby or Toddler Kaito being with Kisuke and actually physically present in their lives for the Exile affects things, because THIS Aizen will have been aware of Kaito's existence since the start, unlike Dragon Eclipse Aizen, unless Kisuke, Yoruichi, and Tessai somehow managed to hide Kaito's birth from everyone...? And that begs the question of why would they feel the need to do that.

Though Aizen might have some problems getting to Kaito now that Giratina is in the picture and would absolutely banish someone to the shadow realm if it perceived them a threat to Kaito. AND Giratina would only feel even more vindicated in doing so if it knew Aizen's history with the adults, so surely that gets brownie points with Yuroichi /silly

Pokemon Card of the Day #2603: Latios (Shining Legends)

Latios certainly seemed like a filler card. Low damage output without any big effects would do that. Despite this, it seemed to show up in a decent number of deck lists. Weak damage to the Bench could still be useful, though only in the right scenario. Luckily for Latios, Double Colorless Energy, the Energy it would most likely use, was a staple in some top decks for a decent amount of the time it was available, and that tiny use was at least interesting to consider when that was the case despite everything else here.

The stats weren’t that bad in general. 110 HP wasn’t incredible at this point in the game, but Latios was a Basic Pokemon and seeing a number that required a good attack to get through in a hit was nice. The Psychic Weakness did mean that Malamar decks and Garbodor were issues, as well as the later Mewtwo & Mew-GX even though the decks Latios fit into were less common by that point. Being able to retreat for an Energy was reasonable.

Break Through was the only real reason to use Latios. 2 Colorless Energy did 30 damage plus 30 to 1 of the opponent’s Benched Pokemon. This got a bit of chip damage on the board and could target a heavily weakened Pokemon on the Bench without using up a Guzma. There weren’t a lot of scenarios where this was going to make a big difference, but they came up from time to time.

Lagoon Flight was pretty bad, as 70 damage wasn’t nearly enough for a Psychic and 2 Colorless Energy when compared to all the strong attackers available.

Latios was one of those Pokemon that only helped in a few spots, but was so easy to fit into some decks that adding a single copy was a reasonable choice. This typically meant Zoroark-GX decks, since they were already running Double Colorless Energy and Latios just fit in without any other help being needed. Its actual worth was still pretty questionable as it only provided some minor Bench damage and maybe an early KO on an Inkay, so a lot of people still skipped it. Still, it was something, and Latios was a bit better than it seemed.

--------PIERS’ POV-----------

I groaned when I saw the time in my phone. It was near dawn, and I didn’t sleep during all the night cause I was watching over Raikichi. I moved on the bed, turning to see her. She was breathing harshly, and she was still pale.  Glaceon was sleeping between us; she fell asleep after getting to exhausted, and now Weavile and Ninetales were watching in order to act if they had to low her fever. 

“I know you can surpass this, babe...” I whispered as I stroked her face before standing up in order to have some breakfast. Kabu was alredy awake, preparing breakfast. He looked like he didn’t sleep well; but at least, he could sleep better than me. “Hey” I said as I yawned while I sat down in order to have breakfast

“You didn’t sleep, did you?” he asked as he served the breakfast

“I couldn’t” I replied drinking a bit of coffee “What if I fall asleep and Raikichi gets worst? I can’t...”

“You worry a lot for her, and that’s good. That means that you really care about her” Kabu said “But I’m here to help, so if you need to sleep, go and sleep. Take your deserved rest”

“I think I can handle with this” I said as I heard a sound coming from Raikichi’s room; it was Glaceon, who came to the living room walking a bit awnkward “Hey girl...” I said stroking her head “Let me prepare you some food”

I stood up and I went to prepare some food for Glaceon, but I ended preparing food for Weavile and Ninetales. They were hungry and tired, and they needed energy to keep watching over her trainer. I didn’t have too much time to put the bowls in the floor cause they were now devouring them. “Easy there” I said with a soft chuckle and once they finished eating the food, the three of them returned to the room. “I’m going to take a quick shower” I said once I was donde with my breakfast 

Kabu nodded and after putting my service on the sink, I went to Raikichi’s room and once I got clean clothes, I went to the bathroom. I got naked and I entered in the bathtub. A quick shower was the thing that I needed to ginger me up since I had to be with all my reflexes up. As I took the shower, I thought on what happened yesterday...I should had been there...I should had been with her...Maybe then she wouldn’t ended lost in that hail storm...Maybe I could had help her...I groaned before sighing heavily as I finished taking the shower. Once I got dried and dressed, I exited the bathroom as I pulled my hair in a ponytail. In the living room were Melony, Milo, Nessa, Raihan and Gordie, speaking with Kabu. “Whoa...It’s too early to be here” I said

“We know, but we thought you will need help not only with Raikichi, but also with all her Pokemon” Melony said “It’s hard for two two taking care of her, and if we add taking care also of all her Pokemon...”

“Thank you, really” Kabu said “Well, let’s see how this buddies are.”

“Then I’ll try to make her Rotom Phone work again” Raihan said as he sat down in order to check her phone “It looks that the phone got hit by something...I’ll do my best to make it work again”

I nodded and I went with Kabu to the garden that he had on his terrace in order to take Raikichi’s Pokemon out of their Pokeballs. Milo would take care of Leafeon, Tropius, Ivysur, Serperior, Sawsbuck, Gourgeist, Lurantis, Decidueye and Appletun. Nessa decided to help with Vaporeon, Lanturn, Milotic, Dewgong, Swanna, Primarina and Lapras-thanks to Arceus that Kabu had medium ponds on the garden to allow some of those Pokemon to be in the water. Kabu, by his hand, took a look on Infernape, Quilava, Blaziken, Charizard, Chandelure, Delphox, Talonflame, Salazzle and Raboot. Kabu told me once that Raikichi’s Blaziken was a gift from him when she was a Torchic, and that Infernape was Raikichi’s first Pokemon. Gordie and Melony decided to take care of Staraptor, Luxray, Ampharos, Noctowl, Ariados, Raichu-who gave them some problems cause she was surfing in the air using her tail, things of being from Alola, like Ninetales-, Swellow, Jolteon, Pidgeot, Dragonair, Scolipede, Meowstic, Sylveon, Toucannon, Banette and Ponyta while I took care of Linoone, Zoroark, Absol and Umbreon. Glaceon, Weavile and Ninetales were on Raikichi’s room, watching over her trainer. It was clear that all of her Pokemon were really worried about her, some of them didn’t want to eat and we had to convince them to eat something. Also, we took care of the other Pokemon that didn’t form part of her teams but were on her backroom, like Altaria, Togekiss, Aurorus, Lumineon, Mawile, Sensu Style Oricorio, Indedee, Shinnotic and other more rare like Shaymin, Latios and Silvally. It was my first time in front of two Mythical Pokemon and despite my lil fear, they were very kind.

The hours passed and I was getting too stressed cause the guilt was eating me from the inside. I ended arguing with Raihan and Gordie when the stress took over me, and then, Marnie, who came to Kabu’s house at evening, grabbed me by the arm and took me to the garden. “Ya need fresh air, brother” she said and then, I was with my knees on the groung “Piers?”

“I can’t loose her, Marnie...” I sobbed, hugging myself “I can’t...” 

Marnie knelt next to me and hugged me, and I hugged her as I kept crying. “She will survive, brother” she said, also sobbing “Ya know she’s the bravest person we’ve met...She will overcome this...”

“But she’s...” I tried to say, the sobs avoiding me to continue

“Listen, Piers. Raikichi is strong. She has passed through situations worst than this...And she isn’t alone...”

I nodded as I wipped my tears away, hugging my sister again. “Thanks, Marnie” I said

“Your welcome, brother”

“I did it!!” Raihan said nearly jumping from the chair “Raikichi’s Rotom Phone is working now! Let’s see if we can seek for a video or something...I’ll need to charge the battery while I do it, Rotom looks exhausted too...Let’s see what we have...”

Raihan found a video that showed that Raikichi had gotten lost in the middle of the hail storm cause it took her by surprise when she was going back to her camp. While she was trying to find her way back, something attacked her and made her fall to the Lake. The video ended when the Rotom Phone recorded Primarina taking Raikichi out of the water and then, the video ended. “Raihan, rewind the video” I said and he did it “There, stop there. Could you something to make the image clear?”

“I can try” he said connecting his own Rotom Phone wirh Raikichi’s “There you are...By all the living things...”

Everyone there gasped, and with a reason. Raikichi was attacked by a Gigantamax Pokemon; by a Gigantamax Toxtricity, to be more exactly. Raihan called Leon to tell him what we’ve found as the thoughts came again to my mind. I didn’t want my girlfriend to be scared of my Toxtricity due her experience in the Wild Area. If that happened, I would be at her side in order to help her...But it would be hard.

At night, we were alone again, Kabu making dinner and me watching on Raikichi. She didn’t move, she didn’t even made a sound that could tell us that she was trying to wake up. While we had dinner, I told Kabu my fears about Raikichi having a trauma with Toxtricity, but he told me not to worry, at least not yet. After dinner, I went to her room, ready to sleep a bit, or at least trying, since Kabu offered to stay awake while I slept.

Two weeks. Two long weeks had passed since we rescued Raikichi from the Wild Area and she didn’t give signs of waking up. During those weeks, she got worst, then better, then worst...One day she was near of choke when she was trying to breath and it was costing her a lot, but luckily, we managed to help her with that. 

Sleeping in turns, switfting between me and Kabu in order to watch over her while the other one slept didn’t work very well; one day I ended falling asleep over Arcanine. Comfy, but too hot due his high temperature.

Two long weeks...I sighed as I looked at the calendar where I marked the days that Raikichi spent unconscious since we rescued her. I wished in the deepest of me to not put another mark on the actual day. I was hoping that she would wake up soon, and I wished that she would wake up today. I sighed again as I watched our Pokemon eating their food. Glaceon, Weavile and Ninetales had a bigger food ration since they were the ones that helped the most, using her Ice powers to help lowering Raikichi’s fever.

“Easy there” I said stroking Glaceon’s head “You’re really doing a great work, ya know?”

Glaceon chirped as she rose her head and then, she twitched her ears. She looked behind her and like if something called her, she quickly rushed into Raikichi’s room, only to come again to the living room minutes later, chirping so happily that Kabu and me looked at her with curiosity as she entered again in the room. We followed her and we felt like if our souls fell to the floor when we saw Raikichi rising her trembling hand slowly in order to pet her Glaceon, and then, Kabu and me were in tears when we heard her voice.

“Hey, girl...” she said, her voice trembling but as sweet as I remembered “You’ve been at my side all this time?” Glaceon chirped, nuzzling her trainer “Weavile and Ninetales too...” she whispered and then, Glaceon moved a bit to allow Raikichi to see us “Piers...Uncle Kabu...”

Both Kabu and me went at both sides of the bed; me laying down next to her and Kaby sitting on the edge of the bed. I peppered her face with kisses, feeling that she was recovering her normal temperature; she was still cold, but at least, she was recovering slowly. “I’m so glad you’re awake, babe...” I said leaning my forehead againts her, tears on my eyes, before standing up and allowing Kabu to hug his niece.

“You gave a very big scare, kiddo” Kabu said, also crying “But we’re really glad about you being awake”

“I’m sorry...For scaring and worrying you...” she said and I quickly wipped her tears away

“Hey, it’s not your fault, Raikichi...” I said stroking her face 

“But...”

“Piers is right, kiddo” Kabu replied “Now rest while I prepare you some food, okay?”

Raikichi nodded and once Kabu went to the kitchen, I removed the slippers and I curled next to her, holding her hand. “Piers...You look tired...” she said

“Well, I spent some nights awake in order to watch over you, and your uncle did that as well” I said with a yawn

She smiled softly before yawning and when she moved a bit trying to find my warm, I curled next more to her. “I think...I’m going to sleep a bit more...” she said with a yawn

“I’ll wake you up when food is ready, babe” I said kissing her temple “Now rest, my love...”

------------RAIKICHI’S POV----------

The first time I woke up after a long time unconscious I saw my Glaceon next to me, licking and nuzzle my face, and then, I saw Piers and my uncle Kabu. They were both in tears, hugging me as they told me how happy and gladly they were of seeing me awake. I fell asleep again few minutes later cause I was exhausted, but this time I knew I could sleep well since I could fell Piers’ hand holding mine.

The second time I woke up it was few hours after the first time, at night. Glaceon was next to me, curled as she slept pacefully. I moved my head and I smiled softly when I saw Piers sleeping next to me, but he quickly woke up when I squeezed his hand gently. “Hey, babe...” he said kissing my lips. “Your lips are not longer blue...And they aren’t that cold...” he whispered to my lips before kissing them and then, he kissed my forehead “You have a bit of fever yet...”

“I think so...” I said before yawning “How long I was unconscious?”

“Two weeks” he said “And if we count those two days to were unconscious after being attacked in the Wild Area and before we rescued you...Yeah, two weeks and two days”

“Wait...Was I attacked?” I asked confused

“Yeah...Your Rotom Phone recorded what happened” Piers replied “You got lost on the hail storm cause it took you by surprise, and when you were trying to go back to the camp, a Gigantamax Pokemon attacked you and you ended falling to the Lake...Then Primarina rescued you and the video ended there, so we suppoused your Pokemon took back to the camp where you fell unconscious“

“Piers...What type of Gigantamax Pokemon attacked me?” I asked and when Piers stood in silence for few minutes, I started to worry “Piers?”

“A...A Gigantamax Toxtricity”

Oh, so that was the Pokemon that attacked me that day...Piers looked so worried, like if something was bothering him. “Babe? Hey...What’s wrong?”

“I...I don’t want you to be afraid of my Toxtricity...”

“Why I was going to be afraid of him?”

“Because you were attacked by a Gigantamax Toxtricity and...And I’m afraid of seeing you getting scared of...”

“Hey, babe...I’m not scared of him” I said “C’mon, get him out his Pokeball”

Piers rose an eyebrow but nodded and let Toxtricity get out of his Pokeball. He approached me slowly and when I let him sniff my hand, he nuzzled it with a chirp. “See?” I said and Piers sighed in relief before helping me to sit down on bed, pillows on my back to be more comfy while my uncle brought me some food. “That smells really good” I said

“Special soup for you” Kabu said putting the plate on the portable table “I’m going to get your medicines”

“Ugh...” I groaned as I rolled my eyes

“I know it sucks, but you’re recovering from a serious pneumonia, babe” Piers said taking the spoon “Now, say ‘aaaah’“

I rose an eyebrow but I opened my mouth to let Piers feed me. My hands were still trembling, and I didn’t have all the energy I wanted to have in order to eat by myself. Slowly, my body accepted the food, something that I really needed. As Piers kept giving me the food, my uncle came back with the medicines and with a thermometer that he used to take my temperature. “Still high...But not as higher as before” he said before letting me continue eating my dinner

After the dinner and taking the disgusting medicine, Piers brought the TV controller and started to search something to watch. Uncle Kabu was talking with someone as I could hear him a bit, but then, my boyfriend passed his arm around my shoulders and I leant my head on his shoulder. Glaceon jumped on the bed after returning of eating her food and curled at our feet, Obstagoon and Toxtricity napping on the carpet. “Piers?” I asked with a yawn

“Yes, babe?”

“I’m sorry...I’m sorry cause I didn’t keep my promise...”

“What do ya mean, babe?”

“I promised to you and to my uncle that I would be careful...That everything would be okay...And I failed...” I said, tears on my eyes “I failed and I couldn’t keep my promises!”

“Hey, hey, slow down babe” Piers said wiping my tears away “It was an accident. You didn’t expect the hail storm to get that worst suddenly, and you didn’t know that there was a Gigantamax Pokemon there. How could you know it in the middle of that storm? Please babe...Stop saying that, please...Stop putting all the guilt on you...”

I nodded as he wipped my tears away before kissing my cheek before continuing watching the TV until I started to yawn again. I felt my eyelides heavier, and when Piers noticed that I was falling asleep, he removed part of the pillows and helped me to lay down again and covered me with the blankets. I moved a bit as I found myself comfy as Piers changed his clothes and got on his pajamas before removing his ponytail and then, he laid down next to me. Glaceon moved in order to put her tail on my forehead for some minutes to help me with the fever a bit. My boyfriend curled next to me under the blankets and after kissing my forehead. “Good night, babe...”

“Good night...” I murmured before falling asleep

The next days were like the first time I woke up after spending those two weeks unconscious. Few days after I woke up, I recieved the visit of Nurse Joy that came to check my constants. She told my uncle and Piers that I was still suffering from pneumonia, but I was starting to feel a bit better. The fever went and came back, but at least I wasn’t suffering too much high fever. 

That day I recieved the visit of the Gym Leaders that came with goodies for me, for Piers and for my uncle. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I appreciated their gifts. It was near night, and Raihan was in my room with Leon, who took his free day to visit me, while the others were in the living room talking with my uncle.

“Oh, this is for you” Leon said as he gave me his League Card “I didn’t have the proper moment to give it to you, so here you are”

“Thank you, Leon”

“You should make your own League Card, Little Champion” Raihan said with a smirk on his face, showing me his fangs

“I’ll do it once I’ll recover completly” I said

“And what are you going to do with that bouquet of roses?” Leon asked

I sighed when he remembered me that bouquet. It was from Chairman Rose who thought that it would be a really good idea giving me a really BIG bouquet of roses. “I told my uncle to put them on a place were they could be out of our sight.” I replied with a yawn “I don’t know but there is something on Chairman Rose that makes me not to trust on him completly...Not specially after what I’ve seen that day I went to Spikemuth the first time”

“What did you see?” Raihan asked

“Rose was trying to convince Piers to make the people of Spikemuth to leave the town in order to shoot down the town and then, rebuilding it next to a Power Spot” I said “That would mean a lot of families loosing their homes and Piers wasn’t and isn’t going to allow that...That day I saw him comfronting Rose and Piers looked really upset after dealing with him...Like if he was tired od that”

“Well, Piers doesn’t use Dynamax and he learnt how to batlle without using it, and he’s really good on that” Raihan said

“I know...But seeing him that angry and upset after that...”

Leon was going to reply when Piers entered in my room. He was wearing his sleeping clothes cause he got changed in the bathroom, and after saying a low ‘Hello’ to Raihan and Leon, he dropped himself to the bed, slipping under the covers and hugging me.

“Tired?” I asked with a yawn

“Yeah...”

“Then we should leave you” Leon said “I hope you’ll recover well”

“Thanks” I said with a soft smile and then, Leon and Raihan left the room.

I acommodate myself in the bed, laying down and letting Piers curl next to me while my uncle said goodbye to the Gym Leaders before closing the door. “Hey, kiddo” my uncle said entering in my room “How are you feeling?”

“Tired...” I yawned and rubbed my eyes and chuckle a bit when I heard Piers snoring a bit

“If you need something, tell me, okay?” he said and I nooded “Good night, Raikichi”

“Goodnight, uncle” I said and when he left to his room, I closed my eyes as I grabbed Piers’ hand, and smiled when my boyfriend mumbled ‘Good night my love, I love you’ “I love you too, Piers...” I said before falling asleep

gasps!!!! i love these but im super bad at them :’(connor would be the protagonistRK800-60 the self-proclaimed rival but ends up never being considered so by connor rather a friend who he always needs to help bc he makes a lot of disasters (there’s a touching moment towards the half series finale where RK800-60 loses a big battle and cries and promises to become stronger AND ACTUALLY SUCCEEDS)RK900 is the cool aloof rival who seems sketchy and almost evil, probably gets in fact tricked by the evil team but join forces with connor and saves the day, THEY ALL join forces even RK800-60 and be good friends from that moment onanyway this requires a good answer like a full team but am i that bitch? idk i’ll try my besti’ll go with the boys™ as androids ofc

Hmmm... Some people may agree with me and some don’t, but... I didn’t feel like that was the beginning of a most hype final battle ever.

Not sure what I was expecting, but after seeing all the trouble foreshadowing Meltan’s evolution, I would have wished that it would have been a bit more useful. Sure, Silvally is tough and I’m sure Melmetal did make Pikachu’s job a bit easier, but... I still don’t feel like it’s a particularly good writing choice to make it faint in the very first match up. Also, why did his attack animation look a bit comical to me? Maybe I’m just being too judgey about that. But anyway, considering how long Pikachu has been with Ash, I guess it was fitting he was the one taking Silvally down. (Never forget him taking down Tyranitar and Metagross and Latios...)

What /was/ a nice touch tho was Lusamine recognizing Mohn’s Zoroark! And I found it hilarious when Faba was explaining who knows what and all the 3 ladies with him looked very unimpressed. That’s how it should be :’D And I am glad Delia is there to see Ash’s battle too, tho it would have been nice to see a glimpse of her during the battle too. Lana is a real fangirl! I loved her reaction to seeing Melmetal & everything else. 

Well, that’s it for now, maybe the subs will give me more to say! I /am/ looking forward to seeing the Doggo battle because Ash’s Lycanroc has never won Gladion’s so I really hope now is the time! Go go my son! The Alola league victory is so close!

I’m on spooky. I’m so pretty: Card of the Day #5

Now would be a good time to tell you about something cool I have planned. Why now? You’ll see soon enough! From next week, I’ll be making a weekly video post in which I talk about a very special card indeed - a higher accolade than Card of the Day, if you will. Rather predictably, this will be called Card of the Week! Which card will be our first Card of the Week? I’ll drop a little hint today... Maybe I’m biased towards ghost-type Pokémon. I’ve always loved them throughout the Pokémon franchise and I really like the way their sense of mischief often translates so well into the TCG. Today’s card of the day is one I like for exactly that. It’s not just more of my bias towards my beloved spoopy guys - I promise! Say hello to Banette!

Stats

Banette is small by any measure in the TCG. 90 HP isn’t surviving much, to say the least, and it falls behind many basics in this regard. In a sense, Banette could be described as a glass cannon. It’s not going to stick around for long, but it’s going to make quite the impact while it’s around.

Although, being a stage 1, it does have access to Bodybuilding Dumbbells, an item that gives it an extra 40 HP. 130 is a much more workable number in most cases, as many attacks hit for 120 damage. Unfortunately for Banette, the most common of these attacks is Zoroark-GX’s Riotous Beating, which hits for weakness. If you’re not facing down a Zoroark deck (lucky you!), you may want to slap some Dumbbells on this little guy to give it an extra turn to cause trouble.

Dark is an unfortunate weakness to have in this Zoroark-heavy metagame, but this is balanced out by a resistance to the ubiquitous fighting type. Taking 10 damage from a Jet Punch is rather nifty, by any measure! I guess this is one of those “high risk, high reward” situations and it seems on-flavor for Banette to be prone to risky behaviour!

A single energy retreat cost is very nice indeed, especially in the post-rotation metagame, where Escape Board is the closest thing we have to Float Stone. Not only is Escape Board compatibility incredibly useful (retreating through sleep and paralysis is very strong), but the image of a Banette rolling around on a skateboard is delightful.

Ability

Ability: Red Eyes When you play this card from your hand to evolve a Pokemon during your turn, you may play a Basic Pokemon from your opponent’s discard pile to their Bench.

It’s easy to underestimate this effect on paper, but trust me - it’s likely to be the bane of your opponent! See what I did there? I’m proud of that one! Think of it like a Sudowoodo GRI that you can turn into prizes. For example, you an KO that Tapu Lele-GX all over again and your opponent won’t see any benefit from it!

In its most basic utility, it stops your opponent from placing something more useful on their bench, which is how I imagine many people will read this ability. However, I see it from a more aggressive point of view: a means of knocking the same Pokémon out over and over again. I imagine that Banette will see the most use in Zoroark Banette builds. The ability to OHKO the same Dawn Wings Necrozma-GX or Necrozma-GX over and over again (with Zoroark-GX or Banette-GX, respectively) has the capacity to win games very quickly indeed.

Attack

[P][C] Enemy Show: Count the number of your opponent’s Pokemon in play. Put that many damage counters on your opponent’s Pokemon in any way you like. 

Softening up your opponent’s battlefield is almost as underestimated as the effect of Red Eyes. In a deck like Zoroark Banette that’s hitting for 150 or 160 with Choice Band - just a hair short of a OHKO on most basic GX Pokémon - this sort of attack is incredibly strong. While 20 damage here and 30 damage there may seem inconsequential in the short-term, it can quickly close the gap between a Riotous Beating and a OHKO on a Tapu Lele-GX. Being able to allocate up to 60 damage wherever you please every turn can become ludicrously strong very quickly.

It’s quite flavorful, in a way. It’s very ghostly and mischievous to lay little traps for your opponent that can snare them when they least suspect it!

Synergy

The most obvious home for Banette is as a 1-of in a Zoroark/Banette build. It’s perfect for setting up surprise knockouts, whether it’s by resurrecting a basic GX Pokémon for an easy 2 prizes or by softening targets up for a Riotous Beating or Shadow Chant. Indeed, these knockouts can be even easier to attain with Banette-GX shadily moving damage counters around, too! As a single prize attacker, it makes ideal front-line infantry for this sort of deck; just watch out for opposing Kartana-GX in the late game! There’s also a spread deck that’s coming together slowly, but surely. I imagine that Banette will be quite at home with Flying Flip Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, and Latios. Of course, I’m eagerly awaiting Mimikyu-GX in November’s Lost Tunder set - as is Banette! The question then will be which Tapu Lele to run!

Counters

They’ll be all over the table! Oh - you didn’t mean DAMAGE counters... Acerola and Max Potion are Banette’s mortal enemies. Imagine meticulously laying the groundwork for a KO by Riotous Beating, only for your target to be back to full health in an instant. It’s not pleasant!  Sky Pillar also thwarts Banette’s attempts to soften up benched Pokémon, besides asking its bigger brother to use Shady Move to transfer damage counters to them one at a time - tedious, to say the least. Be sure to pack a Field Blower or two to deal with this scourge! Funnily enough, there’s a little sibling rivalry in the Banette family. Whilst they’re usually the epitome of synergistic brotherly/sisterly love, things turn sour when Banette and Banette-GX are on opposite ends of the battlefield. Imagine being poor little Banette, meticulously setting its opponent up for a swift knockout, only for its bigger brother to come and move one of those counters to someone else, ruining Banette’s perfect damage math! Fellow siblings - we’ve all felt like that sometimes, right?

In Conclusion

Baby Banette may stand in the shadow of its flashy GX relative, but it can certainly steal the spotlight with its own talents - or even complement those of its sibling in a rather heartwarming display of battlefield family bonding. Sometimes, it can take a while for players to read a card in the context of a game, rather than assessing it in a vacuum. That said, it still amazes me that I’m not seeing more hype surrounding this card. Trust me - give it a try. I’m certain that you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the tricks that this little ghost has up its sleeves. I love flavorful cards and Banette takes the cake in every possible way, from its mischievous play style to that delightfully cheeky artwork. Yes, Banette, you’re very pretty. Now, let’s clean that up before Mommy catches you going through her makeup bag! Do you do voodoo? Perhaps you should!

One Less Secret

Soise, queen of secrets. Well... she’s competing with Jay for the title.

 I think giving her a latias daughter was my co-writer’s idea? We watched the latias/latios pokemon movie too many times and that shit slaps

 But a little bit more world building for you, and also some google translate french, so apologies again if that’s like... horrifically wrong.

The gardens around the outskirts of Santalune are pretty and filled with pokemon. Mostly I see bugs – mostly vivillon, combee, ledyba, butterfree – but there are also flabebe about, tending to the flowers. Many of them seem to have a preferred colour and they carry one, like a clan badge. Maybe it is a clan badge. More things to research.

“Ok, Aria, reign it in!” I call, focusing back on the battle in hand.

Aria yips shrilly in reply and rolls away from the skitty’s attack before lifting smouldering fire from the grass nearby and blowing it up in her opponent’s face.

The trainer calls back his skitty with a cry. “I thought we had you!” He shakes his head, sorting through his wallet. “Que faites-vous en train de former? Vous pourriez battre la salle de gym, facilement.”

I grin. “Keep your money, kid.”

He holds it out to me and I shake my head, pushing it back to him.

“You don’t want?” He asks, his Kanjin broken but still better than my Kalosian.

“Non,” I reply. “You battle well.”

He grins, showing missing teeth. “Merci!” He runs, then, back towards Santalune and the pokecentre.

I crouch down as Aria pads back to my feet and stroke her. “Well done,” I say to her, turning my hand to scratch under her ear.

She lifts her head, tilting it slightly as she purrs.

A bush rustles nearby and, as a twig cracks, Aria tenses and jumps, twisting to growl at it, instantly on the defensive.

I sigh and stand up. “Soise.”

The zorua appears, smirking.

Aria doesn’t so much as relax a hair.

“This is getting ridiculous.” I fold my arms. “The two of you, with me.” I jerk my head and walk away from the main gardens, expecting them to follow.

Soise catches up first, taking Vulp’s place at my heels.

“I thought you were taking the day off with the others.”

She flicks her tail in a gesture I assume is meant to be a shrug.

In fairness, she is one of my newest pokemon and so isn’t quite up to their level yet. But Aria needs more solo practice before we can start on doubles and then the gestures.

I lean back against a tree, folding my arms. “What is your problem?”

The two of them sit there. Soise illusions a tyrogue form so she can shrug and flick at Aria’s tail.

Aria jumps away and snarls, hackles raising.

“Enough. Soise, I know Lairisse is with you. So.”

Soise has the good grace to drop her illusion’s head, looking partway contrite.

Lairisse appears beside her. {My apologies, NightGale} She looks up, arms fiddling together. {I did not want to cause a stir amongst the Kalosians, and then…}

“It became too easy to keep the secret.” I roll my eyes. “Wow, haven’t heard that one before.”

Lairisse frowns. {I think your tone suggests–}

“Sarcasm.” I cut the young legendary off. “But since you’re here, tell me what is up with these two.” I glance between them. “We don’t do infighting on my team.”

Lairisse turns to Aria – who looks mildly put out by her appearance, but not enough to tell me that she didn’t know she was there – and they confer.

Soise rolls onto her back and gazes up at me.

“This is on you as well.” I narrow my eyes. “You need to stop hiding things.”

{Estelle says that there is history between their tribes}

“Estelle?” I frown.

Aria barks, flicking her tail.

“Oh. Would… you rather we called you that?”

She shakes her head.

“Ok.” I shift my stance. “Fine. But Soise’s from Unova, not Kalos. You don’t have any ‘history’ with her.”

{It is the way of the tricksters, she says} Lairisse continues, {You cannot trust any of them. If her family hears of this-}

“I can deal with your family,” snaps a new voice. Or… not new, because it’s mine. But I can’t throw my voice and I didn’t say that.

“What.”

Soise looks up at me. “Shit.”

“Oh, for the love of – seriously?” I throw my head back – banging it against the tree behind me – and run my hands back through my hair. “The fuck else have you been hiding?”

{You should show her, mother}

“Show me what?”

“Don’t – don’t freak out?”

It’s far too strange to hear my voice coming from a pokemon.

Soise stands, and then she’s not a tyrogue, and I have this sense of… truthfulness, somehow. But it’s a zoroark standing before me, not a zorua. Her mane is scarlet tufted with black down her back, bound back by the pink scarf Joanna bought her. She stands on two feet, almost as tall as me – maybe as tall as Brith, but she doesn’t stand straight, she’s hunched over.

“And how do I know this isn’t another illusion?”

“It’s not.” She shoots a glance at Lairisse.

So she’s totally hiding something else as well.

“And you can talk. With… my voice.”

“Mimicry,” she says, and suddenly it’s not my voice it’s Brith’s. “I can mimic sounds. Getting the meanings right takes longer.”

“Right.” I squeeze my eyes shut, covering my face with my hands as I rub past the bridge of my nose and over my forehead. “Right. When did you evolve?”

“I don’t know.”

“Bull.”

“No – really.” She holds her paws up in front of her. “I was wrapped in illusion, in the heat of battle. I didn’t notice and then...”

“And then you just kept wrapping yourself in illusion. Holy hells, Soise!”

“Sorry.” She dropped her gaze. “I didn’t mean to, it just got harder and harder to say.”

“Of course it did.”

“Like you haven’t kept secrets back,” she shot back, and now she sounds like me again.

For some reason, it’s the vision of the beast that comes to mind.

I shake my head. “I’m your trainer and captain, you don’t keep shit from me.”

Aria is flat against the ground, I suddenly see, ears flattened to her skull as she glances between us with eyes that look far too wide.

Shit.

I drop down to sit on the ground. “C’mere, Aria.” I beckon her over. “Sit, Soise.”

Automatically, she sits.

Aria creeps closer, and when she’s within reach, I scoop her up into my lap. She yelps but relaxes, nudging her head into my chest.

“This is probably just proving your point, right?” I whisper to her. “These tricksters, always hiding things.”

“Hey–”

I cut Soise off with a sharp look and she drops her head.

“Point.”

“But listen.” I set Aria on my knee and meet her eyes. “You’re both on the same team, alright? And whatever she’s hidden from me, Soise has been a great help and a loyal pokemon. You’re in our pack now, and that means–” I look up to Soise, wondering if she remembers.

Soise grins, crookedly. “That means you’re one of us and we have your back.”

{It means you’re family} Lairisse says.

“And family means no one gets left behind,” Brith says, and the three of us jump.

Lairisse doesn’t, because Lairisse probably heard her coming. Or felt her, whatever.

I look up. “Nerd.” I grin.

“You chose the film.” She shrugs, and glances at Soise. “You finally told her?”

“Only by accident.”

“We’re going to have talks about your secret keeping.” I narrow my eyes. “Who all knew?”

“The pack,” Soise replies, getting to her feet. “And the Lavaridge crew.”

“Of course.” I accept Brith’s paw to get up, still holding Aria. “Always the last to know.”

“Not quite. And – hey. I’m sorry, but… can I keep it a secret for a bit longer?” Soise flicks an ear. “I kinda… feel like it’s a good ace to have up our sleeve.”

“And here was me thinking I’m the ace up our sleeve.” I smirk.

Soise grins. “But really.”

“Two conditions. One, you don’t keep shit from me.”

“And two?” Soise flicks a glance at Brith.

I hold Aria out. “You two come to an understanding.”

Aria twists to look pleadingly at me.

Soise takes her, carefully, and tries not to wince as the fennekin scrabbles across her arms and down her back, tangling in her mane. “We’ll… see what we can do.”

She was still hiding things from me, I knew it. But I couldn’t press, not when I had secrets of my own.

ive been expecting pokemon switch to release in 2019 but ive also been expecting it to be gen viii which it wont be if it's a yellow remake

in that situation it would make some sense for it to come out this year, although we still haven't had a gap year in gen vii so idk (maybe that means gen viii is 2020 or maybe theyve just decided to start pumping out games more frequently)

they also give us more notice about new generations than they do about remakes and third versions so if it's in the latter category and coming out this year it makes total sense that they havent announced it yet

a remake this year would also account for the fact that there's still so much left for the anime to cover--it just barely got to ula'ula, so there's plenty of stuff ahead. we haven't even seen guzma yet. plenty of ultra beasts have yet to appear (we've only seen nihilego, buzzwole, celesteela, and poipole), and giovanni also seems to be up to something (asking his buddy nanu about necrozma) so we could get a rainbow rocket arc. gen viii not being the next game gives gen vii longer to finish up

speaking of the anime, this year's movie prominently features a trainer with an eevee, so that fits with the games--the anime isnt heavily influenced by remakes, but there are some small details that line up, especially in the movies--frlg came out near a movie that featured mew (the first time a pokemon from a past generation was in the title), the zoroark movie featured celebi and the legendary dogs, and the hoopa movie featured primal kyogre/groudon and mega rayquaza/latios/latias

anyway i think the pikachu and eevee games rumor would make a lot of sense so it's very possible it's true. plus, before usm was revealed i thought it was likely we'd get a yellow remake in 2017

also, the names of the games seem odd at first but yellow was actually called pikachu in japan so "let's go pikachu" fits right in with their naming convention for remakes. technically we don't know for sure if they'll keep the names when they localize it (the leak was of the japanese logo after all) but i think they probably will because "let's go yellow" and "let's go brown" doesnt make as much sense (like that doesnt convey the idea of traveling with pikachu/eevee)

lastly: the 4chan post about the leak mentions catching will be like it is in pokemon go. that part at least is probably fake
