Wait, I just realized something weird:
Tumblr media
Keeps talking about hamsters.
Spade King is very hamster-coded:
Tumblr media
Hamster wheel, water bottle- his whole jail cell looks like a hamster cage.
Queen even has a giant water bottle in her mansion. I don't have a picture of it right now, but it's there.
Noelle also mentions a few other kinds of pets, like birds..
Tumblr media
...cars...
Tumblr media
...and cartoon characters...
Tumblr media
(remember Lancer's MP3 of cartoon splat noises?)
And we know she hatched Spammy.
Did Noelle hatch the whole freaking Cyber World?

Okay okay, my ideas:
Bestfolk claims 'ownership' by biting. So if you bite a beastperson you're close to, it's considered a proposal. Now imagine one day, let's say Ruggie steals your food, and tries to run away. You chase him, you two start fighting, and you bite him. He freezes because Are you serious?! He has to tell his grandma right away, her little boy found someone! Or maybe Leona annoyed you because he skipped something again and you got in trouble for. In petty retaliation, you bite his ear. The dorm falls silent, and Leona is shook because how bold can you be?! Doing that in front of everyone?! You know he won't be king, right? And you still want to... Okay.
For Riddle, I can imagine there's a rule for it. It's pretty complicated, but somehow you managed to hit it to a T. Riddle is flustered, because you wouldn't do these things just for the sake of it, right?! Not in the correct order, not in this perfect way. You must know the rule, and this is a proposal, right?! Just.. give him a bit. You're both still so young, but rest assured he feels the same way.
Scarabia I can imagine their country has an old timey way of proposing. Because it's based on Aladdin, I can imagine it involves Jasmine flowers and a phrasing of fulfilling all wishes. Like making a flower crown out of jasmines, placing it on your beloved's head and telling them if they have any wishes, you'd be happy to fulfill them. Jamil is just frozen in shock. He's a servant, he was always told he comes second, he always had to give everything up to Kalim. Yet here you are, proposing to him. He can't believe his luck, and he'll make sure to be the best, so you won't ever think of leaving. Kalim on the other hand is just extatic, hugging you tightly and telling you of course and how much he loves you. You're confused, but okay. You did just promise to fulfill every wish he might have, he probably means he'll wish for you to come to every party. That'd be something Kalim would do. Until you visit Scarabia the next time, and everyone is preparing some big event. And Jamil is miffed at you because didn't warn him, and Kalim sprung this engagement party just on him. Do you not know the stuff he had to prepare?!
Pomefiore is different. Harveston probably has an old tradition of proposing too. But it's so old, no one really does it anymore. It's meant to show you can provide for your partner. Cooking and being able to carry them over the doorstep. So one evening, Epel comes to visit to escape Vil for a bit and vent. You listen, and offer him some of the food you made. By coincidence, it happens to be his favorite. You two banter, and somehow the topic comes to strength, and Epel confidentaly says he could carry you. You decide to test it, and he manages! For a few seconds, at least. Then, it's your turn, you pick him up, carry him a few steps. From the kitchen to the living room. Over a doorstep. Only on his way back to Pomefiore does Epel realize all this. You can't have known, right? Then again, you were in Harveston with him. Maybe his grandma told you? Vil's is easier. You know he wants to embody the Fairest Queen, but what you don't know is, that people sometimes used a mirror to propose for that. They'd hold it to their beloved's face and spill their heart out, as if they are the enchanted mirror from the tale. One day, you walk in on Rook trying to compliment Vil with a mirror. You take it from Rook, and give Vil compliments beyond his looks. Complimenting his passion, his determination, how his eyes look when he does something he loves, etc. Vil is flustered, because do you know what you're doing? Well, one way or another, he now knows who he wants to bring to the altar one day.
OMG WAIT THIS IS SOOOO CUTE I LOVE IT
all these scenarios are adorable and I would 100% accidentally do them ;-;
I bite out of affection so woops maybe I'm accidentally marrying Leona-

Yandere Hades headcanon
Tumblr media
Hades would be a loving, obsessive but also somewhat ruthless yandere.
Hades would almost fall in love with you at first sight.
Maybe you were another god who didn't shun him, or you were just an ordinary mortal.
It doesn't matter that much…
From now on you would be his king/queen.
Hades would just suddenly come into your life.
He would approach you slowly but surely.
If only you let him love you, everything would be easier.
Hades would be physically affectionate and if you behaved you would get lots of gifts...
However if you don't...
Hades is merciless in the sense that he would not repeat his mistakes.
If you run away once, Hades will make sure he never lets you run away again.
You get homemade apple pie :3
Oh yes this means you can't leave him but also you can't leave the underworld.
R.I.P your family and friends.
Hades punishment would usually be isolation and ignoring you.
There is no one else in the underworld you can turn to.
If you don't appreciate his love, Hades will leave you alone.
Eventually, though, you'll need him.

So based on that last ask with King Arthur is he choosing to fall in love with Gwen even if she has a high chance of falling for Lancealot? If so, it's tragic. Doomed to love another that won't fully love you back.
Does Arthur even just tell Lancenalot to get the hell put of the kingdom some loops?
I think it's more like-
You become aware of your existence somewhere around the age of 3. You were born under mysterious circumstances you don't know the details of. The first time through, you were growing up in a castle. Lately you find you are growing up among peasantry.
Maybe you have brothers. Maybe you have a sister. Maybe you're an only child. Your family is distant either way. They speak welsh. They speak latin. They speak french. They speak english with american attempts at british accents.
The first few times through, there wasn't a sword. Now it's a consistent presence - a shimmering blade stuck in a plain anvil or a large boulder, haunting your hometown or a nearby forest glade. It looks different every time, feels different in your hands. It was made for you.
There are more trials every time. In the first stories the crown was yours from birth. Lately it's been further and further away, behind more tribulations and tournaments and beasts to slay. More guidance from the ageless old man you remember from the earliest days, the welsh days. He's different every time. Everything's different every time. And still nothing changes.
The crown is yours. It's inevitable. And when the crown passes into your hands, it carries the kingdom with it. It's yours now. And it's going to thrive! You hardly need to do anything. Heroes flock to you and pledge themselves as knights, then spend the decades tearing off on wild quests and adventures, getting into the kind of trouble that serendipitously always keeps the kingdom safe. The adventures feel familiar, but never quite play out the same way. Chalices, black knights, fairy women, questing beasts. You rarely see them for yourself. You're too important, after all. You're the kingdom's beating heart.
You have a queen. You don't spend much time with her. It's jarring how much she changes every time. You hate how much it surprises you the times she genuinely loves you; you never really get to enjoy it. The kingdom doesn't run itself, even if just having you around seems to make the forests grow thick and the rivers run clear. Mostly you spend time with her when you're rescuing her from abduction. You very rarely have children together. You miss them.
It didn't used to end in fire, but lately it never ends in anything but, and you never know when it's going to start. You're never home when it starts, but you spend so much time out tending the kingdom or questing anyway. But you always learn too late - treachery. Your knight, your vassal, your bastard child, your lady love. Camelot is burning. You watch your life's work precede you into the grave.
You die. You sleep under the mountain. You dream. It's quiet.
Somewhere in the world, a writer picks up a pen, and you become aware of existence somewhere around the age of 3.

Your paths cross under unlikely circumstances, starting with a clash of personalities but gradually you find yourself establishing a deeper connection with the annoyingly attractive biker jerk. You both have no idea what's in store for you guys as you try your best to put up with each other.
Sugar and coffee || jungkook x reader |Pâtisserie school!AU | college!au | E2L || @jimlingss
Summary: It isn't hard to be a pâtisserie chef, but it's not a piece of cake either. It seems like for you in particular, life keeps throwing in one wrench after another. Anti-romantic || Boxer!Jungkook x fem!reader | Enemies to lovers | neighbors || @armpirate
Summary: Jungkook had always been carefree when it came to love. He always believed he was worth sharing himself with everyone, and thought it was selfish of him to ever think of keeping himself exclusive to just one person.
And maybe that was exactly what got him into the big problem he was in.
A curse that kept him away from love didn't seem an issue for him. The fact that his ex-girlfriend thought he'd be affected by the idea of the girls he slept with running away from him after sex was ridiculous. She actually did him a favor, and took a burden away from him.
At least that was what he thought at first.
He had never found himself thinking of the possibility of repeating with neither of his hook ups, because they disappeared before he was able to even think about it. But when he makes the mistake of sleeping with the sexy neighbor that lives in front of him, he finds himself hoping to get the chance for a second round every time their paths cross.
Y/n hated him the second he set foot inside the building by the way he started making her life a miserable mess for no reason. Sleeping with him was a big mistake she wasn't thinking of repeating. At least not until he came up with the excuse that she rejected him for a curse. Not only she thought he was annoying, but she was also convinced he was crazy.
There was no way she could take him seriously.
Bow to you || King!Jungkook x Queen!OC (Name: Belle) | royal au | infidelity || @flowerwrites06

Night changes || fuckboy!jungkookie x reader | college au || @neonlights92
Summary: Jeon Jungkook has spent the last twenty years alone.  Single.  Solo.
And that’s just the way he likes it.  That is, until he meets the supposed love of his life.  Suddenly he’s falling over himself at the chance of a real relationship with someone.
The only thing getting in his way? You.

Too late || mafia!jungkook x fiance!reader || @jksarchives
Summary: after all the promises he made, Jungkook was too late.
“Besties for the Resties?" || Jungkook x reader | Bestfriends to lovers || @jessikahathaway
Summary: Jungkook had always been your friend since the day you two met as young kids. But what happens when your friendship is put to the test? Can you remain “besties for the resties?” Or will years of friendship be lost in the blink of an eye?
The vows between us || JK x fem!reader | Arranged marriage || @armpirate
Summary: For Jungkook, marrying you was a calculated move -a necessary step to secure the company that was rightfully his. But also a move to know you'd be his after years of looking at you from afar. For you, it was an escape from the gilded cage your family had locked you in. What neither of you anticipated was the spark that would ignite in the ashes of your arrangement. But in a world where every touch felt like a promise and every whisper hid a secret, falling for him was your first mistake. Because just when you thought his heart might truly be yours, you uncovered the truth. Or so you thought.
Once upon a bracelet || Prince Jungkook x Sorceress Reader | Fantasy | Soulmates | Enemies to Lovers | Fairytale || @ladyartemesia
Summary: were born to nothing, but your powerful craft caught the eye of a charming prince. However, his distinctly un-charming younger brother challenged your betrothal and is routinely challenging you. Jeon Jungkook is (probably) a former necromancer and (definitely) the wrong prince… But the bracelets tell a different story.
A jar full of us || bestfriend!jungkook x reader | unrequited love | bestfriendtolovers || @jincapableoflove
Summary: You never meant for him to find them. Hundred little confessions, folded away, never meant to be read. But now, they’re in his hands. And Jungkook—your best friend—knows everything. But he doesn’t say a word. He just watches you, with that same unreadable expression, like he’s waiting for something. And this Valentine’s Day, you might just have to find out what.
I love you, I'm sorry || boyfriendJJK x reader | Established relationship || @wonyqt
Summary: Having an argument with jungkook
Whipped || tiktoker!jungkook x reader | Established relationship || @aquagustd
Summary: another day, another trend that you’re forced to participate in with your boyfriend. It was his idea but he somehow gets sidetracked, with his head between your thighs.
Mid night whispers two-shots || Dominant!jungkook x reader | forbidden love | toxic relationship | infidelity || @jjkssin
Summary: Jeon , a ruthless man bound by duty, his heart claimed by a woman he can never make his own. He gives her everything but denies her the one thing she craves: commitment. When love turns into an ultimatum, fate delivers a devastating price.

Hold on to me || CeoHusband!Jungkook x Wife!Reader | Established relationship au || @kooklovee
Summary: husband forgets your second anniversary. What starts as disappointment and heartbreak soon spirals into doubt—about your love, your marriage, and whether he even sees you anymore. But when Jungkook realizes his mistake, he’s willing to do anything to prove that his love has never wavered. Can he make it up to you, or is it already too late?

Weak Point
❥ Back to the Control Center
━─━────༺✧༻────━─━
Davos Blackwood x Bracken!fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: It was a well known fact that the Blackwoods and the Brackens hated one another, the houses would die before agreeing on anything. And it stayed that way until Davos Blackwood realized he might share one thing with the Brackens after all, his weak point.
Warnings: possible ooc davos?, i also made him Willem's nephew idk if thats accurate but whatever, allusions to smut but no actual smut, men being creepy, gross, and objectifying to reader (not Davos), mild violence, Daemon Targaryen, probably more stuff I don't remember... just tread carefully. its no worse than the stuff in the show. this is also very very unedited.
A/N: so, yeah, this is my first time ever writing for got/hotd so i hope i didnt screw it all up too bad. i started this just wanting to jot down this thought i had while watching the show and ended up getting SUPER carried away. i haven't read literally any of the books though so this could be completely messed up for all i know and i apologize for any lore butchering i may have done. i hope you enjoy !
Word Count: 6.2k
━─━────༺✧༻────━─━
He was running.
His feet pounding against the ground as he wove throughout the trees under the cover of the black night sky. He hoped the torches carried in the hands of some of the other men didn't betray him, the dim yellow-orange glow casting light upon his face and showing off the panic he'd been trying his best to conceal, hidden poorly behind a half-hearted snear since Willem had returned to Raventree hall.
Willem Blackwood had announced to the room, bursting at the seams with leagues of angry Blackwood men, that their King consort had granted them leave to do whatever necessary to bring the Brackens to their knees. To destroy their alliance with the Greens and join the right side of history, pledge their allegiance to the true Queen Rhaenyra.
At first, like all the other men and boys in the room, Davos was excited. He was practically shaking in elation, itching with adrenaline, ready to storm Stone Hedge.
To make the Brackens pay once and for all.
He imagined some sort of battle would come from the ordeal. They would go head to head once more, fight like they always had with the other house, bring them to their knees for their Queen. It would be bloody, but the potential violence against their long-time rivals was customary, expected at this point. Or maybe they'd ransack some houses along the border. Burn a sept or two, destroy some of the more important harvest fields the Bracken's relied more heavily on.
That is what he expected to come from Daemon Targaryen's indirect orders.
But no, there would be no fighting this time. Not exactly.
They were to exploit the Brackens weak points.
To poke repeatedly at their sore spots until they finally admitted defeat, desperate to have returned what was stolen from them.
Davos Blackwood did not expect to have his weak point threatened as well.
But alas, it was. His weakest point, by the name of Miss Lady Y/N Bracken, was in grave danger, and she had no idea.
━─━────༺✧༻────━─━
It was an unlikely friendship that bloomed when the two were young, still green and ignorant to the centuries of history between the houses they came from.
A young Davos was practicing archery down by the border stones, unaware the large rocks were truly meant for something other than the simple job of being large rocks in the middle of the open field. He was only told never to cross them by his father... who had also told him never to wander near to them unaccompanied.
Nevertheless, here the young Blackwood stood, a crudely made target propped up against one of the stones, alone.
He pulled back the string, one eye closed, preparing to loose the arrow. His last arrow.
Maybe this one would actually hit the target. Every shot had found purchase on the fabric at least, just out along the outer border.
He held his breath, squeezing his eyes shut as he let go.
The boys eyes flew open at the sound of a high pitched squeal and the frantic rustling of leaves, like an animal caught in a bush. He soon realized that his last arrow hadn't hit the target at all, but instead flew over the stone entirely and landed somewhere in the woods on the opposite side of the border.
Had he hit an animal? Had he been such a nuisance at archery, but his luck so spectacular, he managed to miss the target by a mile yet make his first kill?
Davos was still for a moment, if he crossed the border to find the animal, his father would surly be angry with him for his disobedience, but would he be proud enough his young son managed to strike an animal that the punishment would be forgotten?
Surely his father would be more angry when he found his son's quiver one arrow short, and even angrier when it was explained how and where it was lost.
But just as the toe of his boot made it across the border, the rustling of the leaves returned.
What if he hadn't killed the beast with his misfire at all? What if he had only awoken it from it's slumber, and the beast he now wished he had paid more attention to when his father and uncle spoke of the miscreants on the other side of the border was angry and on the hunt for him.
But, rather than some large hairy creature lumbering out from the bushes, eyes glowing and drooling with bloodlust for the one who dared disturb it, he was met with a young girl. A child of his age, if not a year or two younger--it was hard to tell with the distance which still separated the two children. The baby fat, still stubbornly hanging onto the girls cheeks, didn't help either.
She emerged slowly, eyes curious and cautious as she scanned the area before her. Back and forth, left and right, eyes hungrily eating up each and every inch of the grass, hoping to find where the wayward arrow had come from.
Finally her gaze found his own and he found himself calling his father a liar for the first time in his life.
She was no beast, surely there couldn't be evil creatures over there as he had said. She was far too pretty for his father's claims to be true. She looked like something divined straight from the gods themselves.
Her hair was tangled and sweaty where the strands had fallen loose around her face, released from the intricate braided style on the back of her head. The courtly dress draped over her figure, torn and dirty at the sleeves and rips along the bottom of the skirt with mud caked in the lower fabric as if she had been running wild through the trees. A wooden practice sword lay loosely in her hand, his lost arrow held in the other.
She may not have been perfect to everyone, but she was to him.
She moved forward, walking slowly, making sure to glance from side to side every few steps, ensuring the two of them were the only ones in sight. She finally stopped a couple of paces before him, she raised the arrow playfully, "I believe you may've missed your target."
"Did not." he shot back immediately, kicking himself for a little for his hastiness, but too proud to let a pretty girl think he had messed up that horribly.
She smirked, shifting slightly on her feet, "Really?"
"Really."
"So this is not your arrow?"
"Nope."
She hummed, looking down to the obviously hand-made and well-used projectile. The body bent in a continuous curve from over use and harsh slices in the wood from where a dull knife had been used to widdle it down. She played with the feathers on the end, running the soft material between her fingers, "You sure?"
"Positive."
She looked up, catching the gaze of the boy just an inch or two shorter than herself, "You know I can see your bow right?" she lulled, unimpressed, "No matter how hard you attempt to shift yourself in front of it, I can still see it peeking over your shoulder." she slid around the stone separating the two, leaning down to compare the arrow with the ones firmly lodged in his target, "Not to mention the arrows are from the same bunch."
Davos stayed silent, eyes narrowed at the beautiful and strange girl before him, determined not to give in.
Perhaps if he was stubborn enough, she would forget the accusation like the maids that walked the halls at Raventree did. They always gave up before too long, scurrying off back to their duties when they'd catch him doing something he wasn't meant to.
"Well alright then," the girl shrugged carelessly, returning to her full height, no longer crouched down on her knees, "Its probably for the best these aren't yours anyway. Shoddy craftsmanship," she spoke, caressing the wood once again, "I fear a blind man may have done a better job-"
"Hey!" he cut her off, stomping forward and ripping the arrow from her gentle grip, "I spent an entire moon on these!"
"So it is yours then?" she questioned softly, a winning smirk pulled across her face.
Davos could feel heat rush to his cheeks, quickly causing him to hang his head, eyes focused on the pebbles sown between the blades of grass below his feet. He already embarrassed himself enough in front of this girl, he didn't need her to see his skin flush a deep crimson as well. "No."
The two children stood before each other in an awkward silence. Both not sure what exactly to say, but neither wanting to leave just yet.
She made the first move, stepping forward and coming to a stop beside him. No longer facing the boy head-on, but rather positioned so both were looking in the direction of the target.
"So," she began, "how'd you manage to shoot so far off anyway?"
"'m not good at it yet" he mumbled, face still stubbornly pointed down, "'S why I'm practicin'."
"Well, try again."
He looked up at her confused, the flush finally fading from his skin, "What?"
"Try again" she shrugged. "You have your arrow back, so try again."
He sputtered, about to tell the girl off for telling him what to do, but the look in her eyes made him think twice. She was so sure of herself, so determined. He couldn't leave her there like a coward, he'd already made a fool of himself, it's not like it could be any worse.
But he was wrong.
It could be worse.
The second he let the arrow loose, it failed to hit the target again, stopping about a foot short of the stone, stuck in the grass.
She snorted, a hand flying up to her face to conceal the noise to the best of her ability, "Do you even know how to shoot?"
He scoffed, turning to fix her with a nasty glare, "Of course I do."
"'Ya sure?" she smiled, "Doesn't really look like it from where I'm standing"
His glare hardened, "And what do you know of it? You're just a girl."
She nodded once, stepping forward to retrieve the arrow from the grass as well as the one from the target, "Maybe, but my older brother has been teaching me for years." she spoke returning to his side with a grin, "And I like to think I'm quite good."
Davos only laughed. Like a girl would ever be allowed near a weapon, there was even less of a chance one would know how to use it.
"I'm not jesting" she insisted, eyes narrowing in annoyance, "I do know how!"
"Sure," he laughed again, shoving the bow into her hands, "Give it a shot then, why don't you."
"Fine." she dropped one of the arrows to the floor, shoulder-checking the shorter boy as she lined herself up with the target.
It took her all of five seconds to load the arrow, align the point, and shoot.
And she hit the fucking center of the target too.
She turned to face him and crossed her arms over her chest, the bow held in the crook of her elbow, with a smug smirk, "Believe me now?"
"Whatever."
"Ok," she shuffled back to him, offering the bow back, "Your turn."
He picked the arrow up and aimed, he was about to let go when-
"Stop!" she shouted, quickly moving behind him. "Don't be so tense" she scolded, poking him in the back, "Your elbow is too high," she moved it down slightly "You use it to help aim, it doesn't always need to be completely level." She kicked the inside of his feet next, "Widen your posture, your feet are too close. It'll mess up your balance and aim."
"Are you done?" he gritted out, teeth clenching hard against each other. His arm began to ache, straining from the tension while she twirled in circles around him, giving him a whole explanation for each detail he had wrong.
"Almost" She laughed softly, moving to stand over his left shoulder, "Just two more things" He groaned again, but she only giggled soft at his impatience, "Keep your eyes open. It doesn't have to be both if that's uncomfortable but keep at least one. Shooting blind is practically a death sentence. Lastly, just remember to breathe." she stated simply, "Holding your breath will lock up your muscles. Be fluid, not rigid." he nodded once, relatively relaxed bar the shaking of his tired arm on the string. "Good. Now shoot."
He let go, and watched the whole way as the arrow soared through the air, hitting the target with a satisfying 'thunk'. It didn't hit the center like hers, but it was the closest he'd come thus far, landing on the inside of the ring just off-center.
She jumped in excitement, clapping happily as she did so, "See! You did it!"
"I didn't." he grumbled, "It still didn't hit the center."
"No, but it's closer" she spoke, excitement for the boy still heavy on her tongue, "All you need is some practice."  She placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it softly, "You'll get there one day."
He hummed unconvinced, he'd been practicing for almost a year at this point, and only now was he told what he was doing wrong. He doubted he'd ever master the art of archery but that was alright with him. He'd become more skilled with the sword during his training and found he enjoyed the blade over long-range anyway.
Feeling her job complete, the arrow returned and an impromptu lesson to keep more from disturbing her peace, the girl nodded once and smiled at the boy, turning to cross back over the boundary and lift the practice sword she had abandoned on the other side.
She was about to walk away, disappearing back into the thicket when Davos finally shook himself from his thoughts. "Wait!" he ran after her, quickly catching up to her and grabbing her wrist, "I'm Davos. Davos Blackwood." he introduced himself, annoyed he'd forgotten to do so earlier.
She smiled, "Y/N Bracken."
The two explored the underbrush for hours that day, picking through the bushes for berries and telling stories to one another. He soon found out her strange state of dress, was because Y/N had fled from the hall halfway through their meal. She ran, quickly escaping after overhearing her father and some lord discussing her betrothal. It would never go through of course, the Lord too upsettened by the girl's wild display to continue the conversation.
She had fled through the hall, one of her brother's practice swords in hand and clumsily hitting the trees with it, hoping she could somehow teach herself to use the weapon so that her future would never need to be in the hands of another again.
Upon hearing the story, he quickly offered his guidance to her, promising to bring two swords to the clearing the next day as long as she would bring better archery equipment. She would teach him the art of the bow, and he would show her the ways of the blade.
Through their lessons with one another, they would ultimately come to the conclusion she preferred archery and he preferred steel, but both became skilled in the two practices nonetheless.
Lessons slowly turned to practice, and practice turned to sparring until sparring gradually turned to something more over the years.
Stolen kisses were shared in the shade of the branches. Words of affection whispered along the tall grass. Purple bruises and love bites exchanged under the cover of night and the watchful eye of the stars, easily concealed under the collars of their shirts.
They hadn't begun knowing how divided they were due to their names, but even when they discovered it, they found the years of hatred between the houses hardly held a candle to the feelings they harbored for one another.
━─━────༺✧༻────━─━
Fear flooded his veins when the words changed from those of violence against the men and soldiers, to violence against the women. Violence against the children. Violence against her.
"It is clear that our forces no longer intimidate them," a man decorated in silver plated armor called from the crowd, "how are we to persuade them, as you say, if they no longer listen?"
"We shall change our tactics" a dark smirk slowly formed across Willem's face as he spoke to his men, "The crown allows us grace to do what is necessary to gain the allegiance of the Brackens." the name left his lips with a sneer, as if saying the name itself caused him pain, "So, perhaps we move our gaze from those who've come to expect us."
The excitement of the room changed from one of violent delight, to one of lustful rage. All men in the room, old and young alike, seemed to understand what was implied from the words of both their Lord and their King. All bets were off tonight, they were to take whatever—and whoever—they wished, just as long as it pushed the Brackens to surrender by morning light.
Davos stayed frozen upon the stairs while his Uncle spoke, and the men cheered before them. Many of which, boasting clearly of the prize they wished to gain. The prize that would give them pleasure that night, as well as potential favor with their Lord and Crown. The bargaining chip above all else, the very soul that would surely break the camel's back.
For if Y/N, Lord Bracken's most favored and precious daughter, were to be stolen and sullied, the Bracken people would surely be broken as well. Surrender would be all but guaranteed.
That's how he found himself sprinting as fast as his legs could carry him, subtly kicking rocks and twigs under the feet of his bannermen. Anything to slow them down. Anything that would allow him to get in front of them. Anything that would allow him to be the one that would reach her first.
He'd heard the way they spoke about her. The things they wished to do to her. It all but made his blood boil, the urge to remove their tongues—or perhaps their manhood—was strong. It was what they deserved for speaking about his lady in such a matter.
Yet he couldn't. He didn't care for his own safety, if he were to be hanged for defending his lady love's honor, he would do it a million times over. But the fact that the outcome on her could be worse if he were to confess, is what held him back.
He couldn't do anything in the bright lights of Raventree Hall, but if anyone were to come between his blade and his lady now, he cared not for what would become of them.
He'd kill a thousand Blackwoods if he must tonight. No one was going to touch her.
When finally made it into the halls of Stone Hedge, he was out of breath and his lungs were burning. His breaths quick and labored as he gulped for air, but he couldn't stop until he knew she was safe.
The words they levied against her echoed in his ears, filling him with a blinding rage that powered him forward, allowing the pain in his bones to evaporate from his mind.
They spoke of her as if she were a piece of meat and nothing more. The beautiful Bracken girl ripe for the taking. The forbidden apple that was all but theirs for tonight. They spoke of how they wished to deflower her. To take her maidenhead, rip it away from her and claim it for themselves. "it's what we deserve after all the Brackens have done." he remembered hearing one say, "We deserve this."
They didn't deserve shit. Hell, there were days Davos himself didn't believe he deserved her, if he didn't, then there was no way in hell they did.
He tore through the halls, the anger in his soul bright enough to light the way. He abandoned his torch once he made it inside so none of the other men would be able to follow his trial.
The screams began soon after he reached the second floor. The hushed symphony of horrific melodies carrying up the stairs and echoing down the stone halls, ebbing in on the wind through the windows of the keep, tempting Davos’ heart to beat faster in it's rhythm.
The Blackwoods had begun their raid. He was running out of time.
He cursed her in his mind, his beautiful girl more cautious than he, convincing him that their escapades should be confined to the secrecy the fields and forests provided. He had tried to persuade her to sneak into one of their homes, claiming she deserved the luxury and privacy of one of their bedrooms over his cloak on the harsh terrain. So she could feel the soft feather bed and furs beneath her back rather than the rough sticks and stones scratching her bare skin through the thin fabric. She always declined, arguing the need to keep their love in a place that matched that of which it was sewn from. Somewhere wild, free, and pure.
He always laughed along with her, choosing to ignore the fear that gathered in the corners of her eyes. He knew the real reason, she was afraid they’d lose one another if they were to enter the enemy's halls, that they’d be caught and torn apart forever. So, he just laughed along and agreed full heartedly, dropping the idea so his girl could return to her usual carefree spirit. So her worries would be carried off on the chilled evening breeze, set ablaze in the light of the setting sun.
He lived for her, and if it was her wishes to stay confined in the bugs and dirt, he’d happily oblige without a complaint, even if he ended up with cuts along his palms, skin pierced by the rocks his cloak couldn’t cover as he hovered over her body in the foliage.
But now, he was running through the large keeps halls, throwing open the doors of guestroom after guestroom in the residency hall. Panic increasing for each empty room revealed.
If she just let him come in once, if she allowed him to climb up the wall and through the window like he’d joked one evening, he’d know exactly where to go.
Davos finally approached the last room in the hall, still no luck in finding her room. The voices of his men had increased, finally making their way to the level he stood.
And for the first time in years, Davos found himself praying.
He wasn’t a particularly religious man and he hadn't been since his mother had ceased dragging him out weekly to worship the gods. He found himself finding solace in the heart trees for their beauty rather than religion and becoming more devout to the sword than the gods. But now, outside the heavy wooden door, he found himself praying quietly under his breath. To both the God’s he’d turned his back on and the ones she treasured. He prayed to both the Old gods and the new, that his own goddess would be sound and safe behind this very door.
“Please” he whispered, “I know I haven’t been the most… pious over the years. I know I haven’t followed the rules you have set for the people” he laughed bitterly, “In fact, there were times I blatantly went against you just because I could. But please” he begged, feeling a burning form in the corners of his eyes, “please, I beg you, have her be behind this door. She doesn't deserve what's coming if I don't find her first. I may not believe you exist, but she does. Please don’t fail her now.”
He rammed his shoulder into the door, the lock giving way after two sturdy blows, swinging open to reveal yet another dark, empty room.
His heart stopped, split between the feeling of devastation and unadulterated rage. The emotions clawing their way up his throat, threatening to drown him if he didn’t release them soon.
There had to be a mistake, she had to be here. Was he already too late? Had someone somehow managed to get ahead of him and steal her away before he arrived? It couldn’t be, he was the one to break the lock and sneak around the watch in the front of the keep.
He wanted to scream. To curse the Gods, curse his uncle, curse himself.
But he couldn’t.
Instead, he punched the door frame, knuckles slamming into the stones and splitting open the thin skin from the force. A muffled curse left his lips, not loud enough to reveal himself to the men beginning their descent on the hall, but loud enough to reveal a sliver of the emotions pent up and burning its way through his veins.
He was yanking at the strands of his tousled and sweaty black hair, pacing the area outside the open door. Mind racing as he contemplated what exactly he was meant to do next.
But then he heard it. His saving grace. A muffled sound, a soft mumble coming from inside the bedroom followed by the quiet ruffling of sheets.
Davos whipped around, neck straining under the speed of which he snapped to face the inside of the chamber. There, he found it, shrouded in the shadows and tucked beneath the covers was a lump, with her beautiful, wild hair peeking out and laid upon the pillowcases.
He rushed into the room, slamming the door and bolting it behind him.
It was the heavy slam that finally roused her from her sleep. She sat up in her bed, the white sheets falling down and resting over her legs as she did. She squinted into the darkness, unable to make out who it was but able to see the figure posted inside her room, the moonlight catching on the metal armor adorning the man before her.
It was normal for a maid to come into her room, accidentally wake her in the later hours as they entered her chambers to gather things they had unknowingly left behind earlier in the day. It was strange for a knight or watchman to enter, on the eve of a gathering or a feast at the keep where her father had invited many guests a guard may be placed outside her rooms but never inside.
“Sir?” she spoke, voice soft and confused, roughed slightly by sleep, “What is—”
She wasn’t able to finish her question in full before the man hurtled himself at her. In a panicked haste she reached to her bedside, reaching for the heavy silver candle holder on the table, whacking the man repeatedly when he became close enough.
“Fuck!” the man yelled, stepping back when she jumped up from the bed, swinging the candle holder before her. He reached up, one hand poorly acting as a shield before him while the other went to his brow, touching the now split skin from where she managed to strike him.
“Damn you woman” he yelled half playful and half serious, a proud smirk resting on his lips despite himself. Maybe his love didn’t need him to protect her after all. “I’m just tryin’ to help you!”
Y/N dropped the candlestick in an instant, immediately recognizing the voice that often found its way into her dreams and day to day thoughts, “Davos?” she whispered, now rushing forward, pulling him down by the neck to get a better look at the gash she’d made. “Gods, I’m so so sorry” she muttered, delicate fingers running over his brow bone and assessing the damage in the dim light provided by the moon, so focused on Davos’ injury, she failed to notice the soft smile tugging at his lips, “you–you just startled me. I’m not exactly expecting visitors in the middle of the night.” her brow crinkled in confusion, wiping away a streak of mud on his forehead and brushing through the sweat-soaked hair falling over his forehead, “And why on Earth do you look like you crawled through the riverbeds to get here?”
He laughed, exhausted and relieved to see her standing before him. Davos reached out, grasping her elbows softly, proving to himself she was real. That he did make it in time after all. “I mean, not exactly, but that's close enough.”
She stepped back, eyes wide as saucers. Her sleep muddled mind, finally beginning to catch up with what was going on. Part of her thought it was all part of some strange dream, getting attacked in the late hours and suddenly her forbidden lover is standing before her in her bedroom.
But it wasn’t a dream. This was real. So what in the seven hells is he doing here?
“You can’t be here!” she whispered harshly, “I–What? Davos, you need to go.” she sputtered rushing to open the door and shove him out, ushering him back off to raventree, “My father could–”
He reached out, catching her wrist and yanking her back away from the door harsh enough her back crashed into his chest.
“What–”
“Stop.” he cut her off, spinning Y/N around so they faced one another, “You can’t open the door.”
Her eyes grew even wider at his words, fear slipping into her gaze and he hated himself for being the one to put it there, “Why not?” a crash erupted not far down the hall, the sound of one of the vases clattering and shattering down onto the floor followed by a group of men, maybe three or four at least, cackling. She jumped, clinging onto his arms, her grip tight and nails cutting into his skin, “Davos? What’s happening? What’s going on?”
He looked anxiously up at the door as the footsteps grew louder, shifting Y/N and holding onto her with one arm while the other drifted to hold the pommel of his sword, “It’s a long story.”
“Care to share the summary then?” she bit out at him, but her words were less harsh than she intended, the fear coating the statement making it far less intimidating than she’d prefer.
“You’re in danger.”
“Well, yeah, I kinda gathered that.”
“This is the only one we haven’t checked,” they heard a deep voice say from through the wooden door. “Ya’ think its this one?”
“It’s gotta be” another spoke, tone giddy in a horrific kind of excitement, “It’s the last on the hall, surely the Bracken Brat is in here.”
Davos spun on his heel, looking into her eyes with such intensity Y/N was unsure if she wanted to run or drop to her knees, “I have an idea. I need you to play along.” she nodded immediately, she trusted him with her life. Davos smiled softly, leaning down to place a long, tender kiss on her forehead, “Just remember I love you, ok? I’ll explain later, I promise.” she nodded once more, lifting on her toes to place a soft kiss on his cheek.
His gaze hardened a harsh sneer screwing up his features, the grip he held on her wrist tightening, “Stop struggling! I already told you, you can’t worm your way out of this one Bracken.”
Y/N turned, swiping her arm across her vanity, a collection of glass jars and pots tumbling from the surface and crashing to the floor, “No!” she screamed, “I won’t! You can’t make me!”
The noise from the hall silenced, and both Y/N and Davos smiled. It was working.
“Oh,” he laughed darkly, walking her closer to the door, both of them taking turns at shoving the furniture to fake the struggle, “I most definitely can–”
“My father–”
“Fuck your father” he sneered, reaching up and helping her mess up her hair further than the slight bedhead she still had, and stretching out the neck of her pale nightgown. He then grabbed her robe, throwing it haphazardly over one of her shoulders, “He can’t help you now, the Blackwoods are taking our revenge. The Brackens will finally fall once and for all.” and with that he swung open the door, tightening his grip on her wrists to drag her through the door frame.
“What’s this?” Y/N laughed, overexaggerating her breathing to further fake the strain of the struggle as she faced the four men outside her door, “Is Willem Blackwood's little nephew so incompetent they needed to send four men just to make sure he could get the job done?” she snarked, trying to pull herself out of Davos’ grip.
He growled, spinning her around and yanking her back against his chest, caging the girl in with his arms tight around her waist and arms. “What do you want?” he spoke, ignoring Y/N and looking directly at the men.
“We were coming to get her,” One spoke up, gesturing at the girl with his sword, “but it seems we missed all the fun.”
“Nah,” another added, stepping forward gleefully and running a hand over Y/N’s hair, “he just caught her, we can still get a turn later boys.” he smirked cruelly, dirty fingers dropping down to caress her soft skin.
Y/N shifted at the Blackwood soldier's words, glancing up and seeing the expressions of sick joy on the other’s faces at his statement.
So this is why Davos had broken into her room. She could hear the sounds of what could be happening to her from the maids down the stairs, but no, Davos had reached her first.
She moved slightly, subtly pushing more of her weight against his chest, seeking comfort in the small gestures, that he wouldn’t let that happen to her. He gripped her tighter when she did, to both assure her she would always be safe with him, and to keep him from relieving the men before them of their heads.
“It’s just a shame young Davos beat us,” the youngest of them, a man looking to be in his late thirties, whined, “I had plans of all the ways I wanted to take her and ruin her for the first time. See her scream as I–”
“No.” Davos grit out, cutting the man off swiftly, clenching his jaw harshly between his words and a glare that could cut through iron shifting among the four men “None of that will be happening. She is mine. She is my prize for tonight.”
“But–”
“No!” he yelled, sneering at the men, “I am the nephew of Lord Blackwood, you will not disobey me and my claim. I fought and won her. I claimed her. She is mine. My prisoner and I am not keen on sharing.”
Y/n did her best to keep up the act. To keep the look of fear and anger on her face and struggle to get out of his grip. But something about those words and his tone of voice made her melt inside. She knew they weren’t all true, she wasn't a prisoner, but something about the way he proclaimed her as his made her think it wasn’t far from his true feelings.
“I will be the one taking her back to Raventree. Go find something else. You will not be laying a single finger on her, am I clear?” The four men begrudgingly nodded their heads, walking back down the hall with wounded egos.
Davos “dragged” Y/n all the way through Stone Hedge and back out the main door. He found an abandoned horse not far from the gate and quickly helped her up on the saddle.
“You’re really taking me to Raventree?” Y/n whispered as he too, hauled himself on the horse, settling behind her. His arms wrapped around her to grasp the reins.
“Well I kinda have to” he responded playfully, words hushed into her ear, his breaths tickling her skin, “Wouldn’t make much sense for me to take a prisoner and release her that quickly now would it?”
“So that’s all I am to you huh?” she hummed as they made their way through the trees, the cold night air pebbling her skin through the sheer nightwear, “just a prisoner?”
He leaned down, kissing her shoulder, “Nah, you're much more than that.”
“You sure?”
Davos bit at her ear, watching with a smirk as she shivered, one she’d surely claim was from the cold, “I’m Positive.”
They reveled in the moment of relief and playful joy that encompassed them on the journey back. They both knew it wouldn’t be before long when the reality of the situation would set in. The fear would return to her bones and he would need to fully explain in detail what was going on. They would need to come up with a plan on how to move forward.
But for now, it was just the two of them riding through their forest on horseback.
Davos swore he would be there for her when it came time for her to shatter. When she would feel safe enough to cry for the fate of her people who couldn’t be saved as she had once they found their way to his chambers for the night, and however many after Y/N Bracken was to be a “prisoner” at Raventree.
He swore that when she broke into millions of tiny pieces, he would be there with hands ready to bleed as he held her tight and helped put all the shards back together in the intricate puzzle that was her soul.
He would always be there for her. He would always protect her.
He swore it upon the old gods and the new.

The Queen and The Toy Maker
@talesfromawannabewriter
Adam was dressed in black as he watched his late husband King Steven Kadmon of Eden be laid to rest. He got sick so fast that there was nothing anyone could have ever done.
He was given a lovely service and everyone grieved the King.
Sure, him and Adam had been arranged to marry and have an heir to the throne, which was their son Abel, but that didn't mean it wasn't hard.
-
What made things worse was it wasn't even a full year that Steven was gone and people expected Adam to remarry, as if he wasn't capable of running a kingdom by himself.
Adam: No.
Lute sighed: Your majesty, I know this is a trying time but-
Adam: I'm not having it Lute! Tell that Duke to stick it where the sun doesn't fuckong shine!
Lute bowed respectively: Yes my Queen.
The amount of people that were flocking here for his hand was ridiculous.
So, that evening after he made sure his little boy was put to bed a little early, Adam snuck out of the palace with a cloak covering him. The village wasn't far away and it was very safe.
Getting there, he had never been here this late in the evening. It was nice to see everyone going about their business, the lights of the streets were really pretty.
At the end of the street there was a toy shop, with the lights on and the open sign in the window.
Maybe Abel would like a new toy.
Going in, the bell on the door chimed and the smell of wood, paint, and oddly enough cinnamon was in the air.
Adam: Hello?
A short blonde man from behind the counter looked up from a toy carving he was working on and smiled at him.
Lucifer: Hello! Good evening, can I help you find anything?

In our own world
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yandere!king OC x fem!reader
Summary: You're bored and Edmund decides to create his own little excluded world where you and him can spend some valuable quality time, just you and him.
Warnings: obsession, isolation, Edmund thinking that he is better than everyone else (power dynamics?)
Word count: 2.1k
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh how bored you are. You've been sitting in the large window for what feels like an eternity by now. Maybe you could ask the maids to entertain you? No, that won't work. Edmund has said that none other than him are allowed to be with you unless he's said otherwise. Maybe … maybe you could ask Edmund to do something? Maybe he could let you … go out for a little?
You jump down from the window and leave the chamber. Wherever you walk in the halls, maids and butlers stop to bow at you and wish you a good day. At first, you found it soothing that someone acknowledged your presence, but now you find them creepy.
You reach Edmund’s office and are met by a guard standing outside.
"Can I speak to him?" you ask.
"He's busy, your majesty", the guard replies.
"Please?"
"You shouldn't disturb the king. He was very persistent on that no one should talk to him before he's done with his work."
"Oh … okay …"
"Can it wait?"
You force a smile. "Yes, it can."
"Very well."
In defeat, you turn around to leave. The guard walks into the office to check up on the king.
"Who were you talking to?" Edmund asks without looking up from his desk. "Fuck all of these papers make me insane!"
"It was the queen, your majesty", the guard answers.
Edmund snaps his head up, his heart skipping a beat. You've finally come to him?
"What did she want?" he asks quickly.
"She just wanted to speak with you", the guard answers. "Nothing more. She said that it could wait so I sent her away. I know how you said that you didn't want to be disturbed-"
"You fucking idiot! That rule implies for everyone but her. Go get her."
"... yes, your highness."
The guard runs out of the room, sensing that he's upset the king. Edmund sighs frustratedly, shaking his head.
He returns with you by his side just a minute later. Carefully, he walks out and shuts the door behind him. Edmund smiles fondly as he sees you. You're so pretty.
"I heard you wanted to talk to me", he says softly.
"It was nothing important", you say.
"Yes, it was. Come here."
He pats his lap. You walk over to him slowly and sit down on his thigh. Edmund smiles and wraps his arm around your waist securely.
"What did you want to say to me?" he smiles up at you.
"I was just bored", you say and shrug. "I was wondering if you wanted to do something but you're busy. I don’t want to disturb you."
Edmund sighs and looks over the papers drowning his desk. Why does he have to be a king?
"I am", he mumbles regretfully. "I'd love to spend time with you, my jewel, but if I don't complete this before tonight the Supreme Court will grill my ass."
"It's okay … I'll entertain myself. I'm good at it."
Edmund bites his lip, thinking.
"If I hurry up, will you wait for me?" he asks and squeezes your waist carefully. "We can do something together later. Why don’t you come up with something fun to do in the meantime?"
“I want to go out”, you say. “For a little while.”
Edmund grabs your cheeks in his hand and smiles cheekily.
“You are not allowed outside, dearest”, he says with his eyebrows raised in that condescending tone you hate — sounds like he’s talking to a child. “You’re far too precious to be spoiled by the outside world.”
You sigh and fight back the urge to slap him.
“Go wait in the bedroom and I’ll come get you when I’m done”, he says, giving you a sweet push towards the doors. “If any of the guards give you any problem, you come back and tell me.”
You nod. Edmund smile drops once you leave. He can’t believe how his own guard turned you away. You must have felt so shocked and humiliated. Edmund’s heart breaks at the thought. He clenches his jaw. If you want to go outside, then you shall.
Tumblr media
You must have fallen asleep because when you open your eyes, Edmund’s kneels down in front of the bed, caressing your hair.
“Y/N, my queen, why don’t you come with me?” he smiles.
“Are you done now?” you ask and yawn.
“Yes, I am. And I have something for you. Won’t you come with me?”
You get up from bed and follow him out of the room. He leads you through magnificent corridors, out to the backyard. You stop at the sight. A set table with flowers, pastries and tea. It’s taken directly out of a fairytale.
“Do you like it?” he asks.
He looks genuinely excited. Edmund loves to do these kinds of stuff. He’s never had anyone to surprise or impress before, but now that he has … it has become something he enjoys.
“I love it”, you answer, still in shock. “Why did you suddenly change your mind?”
“I mean … this isn’t the outside world”, Edmund shrugs. “So I thought that is wouldn’t be too bad. This is our own little world. You can still see the sun, but you’re not tainted by the townsfolk. I guess I can let you be here. But only when I am too.”
You look around, seeing the high brick wall that keeps you locked in. You can tell guards are watching every corner. Edmund takes you to the table and holds out a chair for you. You sit down and start to search the table for what you should start with.
“I’ve told the maids to stay away”, he says and lifts the teapot. “I want to do everything myself.”
You want to crack a joke about how he’s never touched his own utensils before, but you keep it in. It’s probably not a good timing. He seems to be in a good mood for once, you shouldn’t destroy it. He pours you some tea and holds out the cookie tray for you.
“Eat as much as you like, my jewel”, Edmund says. “We have enough to feed the entire village here. Not that they will get any. Why would anyone unimportant deserve this kind of food? Pathetic. These kinds of meals are reserved for the important people.”
Pleasant as always.
“Thank you for bringing me out here …”, you say hesitantly after a while of awkward silence. “I’ve missed being outside.”
“You’re welcome”, Edmund smiles with a smile. “If you’re happy, then I am too.”  He breathes out and looks around. “Such a shame I’m always busy or we could spend all of our time together … just like this.”
You don’t answer. You’re not sure what you think about the idea. It’s not like you wanted to go to him for company. You had no other choice. He kills everyone you want to talk to.
“Do you feel lonely without me?” he asks while keeping his eyes on the spoon he slowly moves around in his teacup.
“I feel lonely, but I’m not sure it has so much to do with you … just overall”, you answer hesitantly. “It’s a big castle with lots of people I don’t know … everything is frightening and big …”
“It’s not dangerous for you. Only at night. But you’re safe if you stay in the parts assigned to you. You know better than to wander around.”
Oh, you know.
Suddenly, you hear a melody coming from afar. You look up, trying to find where the music is originating from. Edmund does the same and then breaks out into a small smile.
"Right, there were some things in the village today", he says, shaking his head slightly. "I should have told them to cut it out."
"What are they doing?" you ask.
"Partying. Something they don't have time for now that it’s harvest time."
He's about to stand up and tell a guard to get rid of the sound, but your hand shoots out, placing over his before you can think. He looks down at you, shock written all over his face.
"Please let them be", you beg. "They should get a break from their jobs and have some fun. They're humans. Besides … I kind of like the melody."
Edmund sighs heavily and nods. Remorsefully, he sits back down and looks at you with love growing in his eyes.
"You're wonderful, do you know that?" he asks. "I made a good choice in marrying you."
Your heart sinks whenever he talks like that. As if everything is a business deal to secure the heritage of the throne. Edmund has a tendency to be selfish and inhuman, how does he really care for you? Does he see you as another package deal to secure the future? Is he treating you differently because he should? Since you’re the queen?
"Can I ask you a question?" you ask hesitantly.
"Go ahead", he answers calmly.
"Did you marry me because you needed a queen or … because you actually wanted to?"
You can see him physically twitching. He furrows his dark brows and looks at you questionably.
"What are you saying?" he asks in confusion. “Are you serious?”
You nod. Your throat has gone dry. That voice. Oh, how you hate to confront him. He can never take anything in any way other than an attack.
“Do you think I wanted to be married at this age?” Edmund asks with a raised eyebrow. “That wasn’t my priority, Y/N. With that said, you’re definitely not just something I ticked off the bucket list. Don’t … don’t I show you enough love?”
You shrug fearfully. After every horrific thing he’s done to the people around you — including you — there’s nothing that actually shows if he loves you or only sees you as a pet. Edmund gulps and pulls his chair back quick enough for you to shudder. He stands up and walks over to your chair … holding out his hand. You stare at it blankly.
“Would … would you like to dance?” he asks
"Huh?" you ask, wondering if you could have heard wrongly.
"Dance with me."
You get pulled up on your feet by a strong force and almost crash into him. He squeezes your waist and positions the two of you for a dance. The music from the village is enough for him to find a rhythm and bring you into a trance. You can feel the guards glancing at you.
“Don’t look at them”, Edmund whispers warningly. “Look at me instead.”
You turn your eyes to him and he smiles. His smile makes him look like his actual age and it makes you relax slightly. After all, he’s just a young man without guidance. You shake your head. No. Don't think like that, don't give him excuses.
"There you go", he says approvingly. "Keep your eyes on me. There's only you and me in this world — in our own world — no one else."
He twirls you around before gaining another tight grip on you. You're sure that you'll get bruises on your hips by the end of the dance. You let him take the lead, not knowing where you’ll end up, but you know better than to question any of Edmund’s decisions.
“The guards, they’re looking at you”, he says without taking his icy blue eyes off of yours. “Gawking even. Wishing that they had what’s mine. Pretty pathetic, don’t you think? To be jealous of me? As if they could ever be on my level.”
“I’m not on your level either, Edmund”, you remind him quietly, hoping to make him realize how stupid he sounds. “Would you talk about me like that too?”
He looks dumbfounded.
“You must have hit your head or something with all the absurd questions you’re asking today”, he mutters and rolls his eyes. “No one is on my level — of course — but you’re far, far better than any of the other people in this kingdom. Don’t try to insult yourself by saying that you’re like them ever again, Y/N. I don’t like that.”
He dances round and round, holding you as close as he possibly can against his chest. You’re practically molded against his body.
“I’m so fucking obsessed with you, Y/N”, Edmund whispers in your ear. “You make me crazy. I can never let you go. You’re so perfect.”
His arms tighten around you and you start to wonder if he’s going to break your corset. In this world of your own, he will make sure that it is only you and him. Only you and him … in your own little shielded, exluded world.

Yandere! Cheerleader and Football Player
Tumblr media
Pairing: OC x GN! Reader x OC
Warnings: none
A/N: first post! There will be more in depth post describing both of these two so stay tune!
Tumblr media
‌You, however, you don't really know where you are on the food chain. You're not the lowest nor the highest, so you're kinda confused. It didn't really bother you since people seemed to not notice you that much. You don't really have anyone close to you in school, maybe a few acquaintances but no one close you can call as a friend.
Jake and Lana, king and queen of Silver Oak Highschool. Most popular, most loved (debatable) and the most well known students in your school. Everyone knows them, everyone wants to be with them or be them. Whatever it is, they're on the top of the food chain
‌You joined the schools news club because you really didn't know what else to do, plus the students there are friendly and chill. Because of this you sometimes meet Jake and Lana to do interviews for the schools newspaper. They're the "It Couple" but you have to admit they did always lead the schools football and cheerleading team to victory.
‌Lana was a typical mean girl, like Regina George oddly enough, but she is...nice to you? There's always a sharp smile on her face, hugging you tightly when you meet up for an interview like you're her best friend. She's always close when you're asking questions, her thigh touching yours or bumping her shoulder to yours. It was weird but you brushed it off quickly. She never bothered you enough so why get mad anyway?
‌Jake is a nice guy too, he's quiet and reserved but still smiles at you when you meet in passing. You don't really mind him honestly, but your other peers in the news club did say he's more stoic when members besides you do interviews with him.
‌After a few interviews, you noticed they're more trying to get closer to you. Offering to eat lunch together (you denied, not big on crowded tables), offering you a ride home (also denied because you have your own car), and the list goes on and on. Lana seems pouty before trying to persuade you again with more force. Jake accepts defeat after one try, but you did notice his smile was more tense as he drags Lana away.
‌Nonetheless, you're life was mundane to say the least. Not aware that the couple was infatuated with you for a long time and is trying to pursue you "normally" as they would say.
‌Lana was already attracted to you since middle school. Although you both never really talked so much, you did get grouped in for a project that made Lana loved you since the moment she saw you. You were so...boring, so mundane that in her life full of excitement she would say that you're more of a grounding territory for her.
‌Every time you interviewed her, she mindlessly listens as she observes your clothes, hair, and to the smallest details on your face. Both of you are so different yet she yearns to be with you, to hold you freely and be together.
‌She dated Jake because she did love him and she wants to share her love for you with Jake. So in the end, he got roped in too. Jake's obsession with you is more slow, he's more attentive and watching you day to day. He appreciates how you never really looked annoyed or put off by Lana (he knew she had a reputation) and just overall likes you in general.
‌Their tendencies differ from each other but they agree that they want to pursue you together. They want you to be with them. Both are filthy rich and they like to use it to their advantage (buying lunch, giving away small trinkets that you like).
‌Lana doesn't have as much patience as Jake does though. So the more you decline their attempts to woo you, the more annoyed and tense Lana becomes. She wants you to be with them before you all finished high school, but a small voice in her head is always reminding her to not scare you away. She doesn't want you to be scared of her or run away! And that's where Jake comes in.
‌He likes to hold Lana back if she tries anything that might ruin their chances. He likes to be with you as soon as possible but he knows they have to be more mindful of their surroundings. They have an image and reputation to uphold, and although he knows no one will believe if you tattle on them, he just wants to be blindly faithful of their image. The perfect pair, the king and queen of Silver Oak Highschool.
‌The more you try to deny them, the more aggressive their acts are. But so far, you had been a darling for them. Granted you're a bit awkward to their approach but you're not denying them outright. So they might have a chance in the future!

Kiss me [Peter Pevensie]
pairing: Peter Pevensie x reader
type: fluff (but maybe a little angst??) 🌸
for @that-choir-girl <3
Masterlist
Tumblr media
— Promise me you'll be safe and won't show up on the battlefield, — Peter said. He glared at you seriously. He hasn't even been crowned yet, but he's already acting like a king.
— I will fight for Narnia, — whether you like it or not, you were stubborn and Peter liked that trait of yours, but today it annoyed him. He didn't want you to be involved in this, he didn't want you to get hurt. But he knew that even if he tied you up, you'd find a way to get out.
— Okay, but if I order you to retreat, then you will obey me as your king, — Peter sighed heavily and walked out of your tent. The great battle was only hours away.
During the time that the Pevensies were in Narnia, you got to know them very well. And you fell in love with each of the kings and queens as your friends. But you felt a special connection with Peter. You were comfortable talking to him, fooling around. He seemed to understand you better than others. And you wanted to match it.
But now, when a fierce battle is being waged around you, fear has pierced you. He held down your thoughts, but not your body. The clear and fast movements of the blade reached the enemies and pierced through the flesh. The body seemed to act on its own. But your gaze was looking for one person. All you could think about was getting through that day, to see Pevensies again, to see Peter again.
When you heard the king's voice behind you, ordering Edmund to retreat, you turned around. Because of that, you were almost knocked down by a minotaur, but you managed to dodge. You immediately rushed to help Peter, who was standing in front of Jadis. It seemed like an eternity passed as you approached him. You saw how the White Witch raises her hand, holding the sword tightly, to strike. Your heart almost stopped when that sword touched Peter's shoulder. Your eyes went blank for a second when you saw him fall.
You didn't realize what you were doing, but you got between Peter and Jadis. Your hands were shaking and your heart was pounding like crazy. Your fear and excitement only made Jadis grin. Her cold gaze pierced you, as if she saw right through you. You were ready to fight the witch, even if it cost you your life. When she raised her hand to attack again, Aslan's growl could be heard from behind. A second later, the White Witch was gone.
It took you a moment to realize your next actions.
— Peter! — you said in a hoarse voice, frantically looking around.
Your eyes immediately filled with tears when you saw Peter. He was lying on the grass, which was stained with his blood. His eyes were closed. You quickly ran up to him and tried to feel his pulse. It was barely noticeable. You ran your hand through Peter's hair, which made him slowly open his eyes. He smiled at you softly.
— It's going to be okay, Y/N, — when Peter tried to raise his hand, his face contorted in pain.
— No, don't move, — you practically couldn't see Peter's face because of the tears. He didn't listen to you. Peter slowly raised his hand and touched your face, wiping away the tears that were already running down your cheeks. — Don't even think about dying. If you're gone…
Peter interrupted you.
— Kiss me, — he said, almost in a whisper. Your heart immediately started beating faster, and your cheeks blushed. How could you refuse him? As if it wasn't you who fell in love with him from the first second you met. Of course, you fell in love. And now you realize it so clearly, as if everything in this world has finally made sense. Without wasting a second, you bent down and gently touched his lips. They were dry and hot. It wasn't a passionate kiss, or a sensual one. It was just a light touch that you put all your love and tenderness into. You did it so delicately, as if you were afraid it would break.
You both forgot about everything in the world in that second. There was only the two of you. There was no battle, there was no pain that literally burned Peter's body. Just the two of you.
— Peter! — Susan's voice came from behind. You immediately recoiled and looked back. Susan was running towards you, and Edmund and Lucy were with her.
— He's seriously injured, — you said. Every word was coming to you with great difficulty. Susan looked at you in awfulness. She sat down next to her brother, holding his head. Edmund could barely hold back his tears.
— Maybe you should try this? — Lucy took out a small bottle. It was the juice of a Fire-Flowers. When just one drop of this medicinal drink touched Peter's lips, his pale face suddenly began to turn pink. You could feel the tension in the air. It took some more time for Peter to open his eyes. Lucy immediately threw herself at him with a hug. Susan and Edmund hugged him too.
A sigh of relief escaped your lips. You couldn't help but smile as you watched the happy Pevensies holding each other in their arms and smiling through their tears. And you didn't want to disrupt their idyll. You and Peter will still have time to explain yourself to each other.

Why... Why does Megapolis have so many demons?
Tumblr media
Plot convenience probably, but this is something I've been thinking about :')))) has anyone actually asked this question before? I have no idea! But here's my take on it:
The thing is, when you really think about it, there are a lot of notable demons in the city of LMK. Like of course, you have Demon Bull King, who was trapped inside the mountain Megapolis is built on and around for 500 years.
Tumblr media
But then you have Lady Bone Demon, who was trapped in a tomb, buried under the same mountain DBK was trapped in. And when you realise that the Demon Bull Family's lair was built in the very place the staff used to be, Wukong's staff is pretty close to where LBD had been laid to rest.
Tumblr media
Which, is already strange enough as it is. Because Wukong should have known (or maybe he forgot) that LBD was within the vicinity before popping out a nearby mountain and squishing DBK with it. It's actually weird to think, somewhere during that battle between Wukong and DBK, LBD was just... There, chilling in her tomb. She probably didn't appreciate the noise and her new neighbour.
Actually, I have an idea now: Somebody needs to make a (crack) fic where LBD and DBK are like cranky roommates while trapped inside the mountain. Has anyone done this yet? Any takers? No? Do I have to do it myself?
Anyways, the Spider Queen is here too. And so is her ruined kingdom (which is proof that she actually has a connection to the land Megapolis is built on, and so she's not just some wayward demon like a certain pair of gold and silver demons). Again, within the vicinity, very close to the mountain. But I'm willing to bet that Wukong defeated her and destroyed her underground kingdom before he imprisoned DBK. He probably thought the Spider Queen would have moved away after being defeated. Or maybe she actually did move away, but then came back? Either way, her kingdom remained in ruins.
Tumblr media
And then you have Jin and Yin. Who are, themselves. And even though we've seen them in other places like the Lantern City, and the place that festive town in season 5 (so cool that the show actually brought in Jin and Yin's roles and designs as DJs from the 5th Anniversary Lego set), but it's clear that their base of operations is Megapolis (maybe because they just want to fight MK?).
Tumblr media
And I can't believe I almost forgot, but Macaque is here too. Honestly I'm willing to assume he only came to Megapolis because of MK and, probably taking great interest in how the kid uses Wukong's golden staff. But the dude has a dojo. He- he owns a property. Or maybe I'm jumping to conclusions! Maybe the guy just broke into an abandoned dojo (or one that was actually technically still owned by someone) and claimed it as his own.
Tumblr media
And then you have these guys. Whoever they are:
Tumblr media
And then ALL OF THESE GUYS (Jin and Yin are there but we aren't talking about them):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I might have missed some demons that live in Megapolis, since this is all that I remember. But you guys get the point, right?
So sure. Plot convenience. All of them can be explained by plot convenience. MK can't be running around outside the city until Season 3, because his adventures needed to be focused within Megapolis. Sure, Spider Queen needs demons to power up her mech and so therefore there needs to be some random demons that get caught in her webs. Sure.
But I really do wonder if there could be at least some sort of logical explanation for it. Because there is no way all the other cities in China have this many demons and this many problems (unless, all of the trouble making demons just ended up in Megapolis and, the rest of the world's demons are just really chill and, don't try to take over populations).
So, well. I think about Wukong's staff. The one that trapped DBK.
Tumblr media
Maybe... Within the 500 years the staff had stayed there, it had practically become some sort of power beacon that herded in demons? It's a powerful staff, and maybe normal mortals might not be able to feel it, but demons probably could. It's not like any of the demons know why they decided to come (or return) to Megapolis (or the quaint village it once was), but they were drawn to it anyway. Obviously this isn't the best explanation, but it would be cool if, the golden staff caused the series of events within LMK to unfold in more ways than one.
Idk guys, what do you think :DDD???

To Love A Lannister
chapter 2 | chapter 3
The crowd had gotten louder the moment you opened your eyes, squinting at first against the sun. You wanted to shield your sight but with your hands tied behind your back, all you could do was wiggle your head to the opposite direction. And when you looked to the sides, there Cersei stood, her lips curved into an evil smile, along side her son, King Joffrey. The sound of a man grunting beside you made you turn your head. A masked man was pulling some kind of rope beside you. Your eyes followed where it leads, ending on a machinery located on top of you. It only took you a second to figure out it was a guillotine.
Thwak!
You abruptly woke up, grasping your neck as if on instinct if it was still connected to your body. You weren't scared to die, not for now, anyway. But you'd have a far chance getting killed from drowning rather than execution.
It was only a harmless threat, you thought. Cersei was known for it. And even when you knew what you were getting to in the end, it couldn't hurt you a little less to try, that maybe the endless looks you get from Cersei during dinners and passing meant something other than distaste.
Sleep was hard to get by after that. With nothing else left to do, you decided to wake up for the day.
Oberyn and Ellaria were still fast asleep so you tried to find food for breakfast. And if luck permitted you, you might bumped into the Queen herself.
It was not the Queen you met by the courtyard near the Kitchen's Keep but Tommen, her youngest son. It appeared he was chasing something that scurried further away into the bushes.
When he didn't see you standing behind him, he bumped into your chest. "Apologies My Lady, I was just chasing my cat."
"No worries, My Prince," you greeted back as you bowed. "In fact, I saw him running towards those bushes. I'd help you, if you'd allow it."
"Please, I don't want to bother-"
"Nonsense," you said, then you and Tommen crouched unto the dirt and began looking for his cat. Fortunately, a sliver of gray caught your eye before it jumped to the nearby fence.
"Got you," you said as you caught the furry cat, brushing its fur as you returned it to a smiling Tommen.
"Thank you, My Lady," he said.
"Does it have a name?"
"Ser Pounce."
"An honorable name."
"Do you think so? Joffrey doesn't think so," he said sadly. "He always says he'd kill him and make me eat it."
"I'm sure he's only kidding, My Prince," you said, though you didn't doubt Joffrey wouldn't do it. "If you need any place for him to hide for the meantime, you can always ask me."
Tommen smiled from ear to ear. And that was when you finally noticed you two weren't alone.
"It's time for breakfast, Tommen," Cersei called, her hands tightly clutching against the post. The Queen possessed a kind of beauty no one could compare. And you were completely enamored.
"Your Grace," you greeted, bowing your head.
"Coming, Mother!" Tommen answered before turning back to you. "Would you like to join us for breakfast, My Lady?"
Before you could reply, Cersei added, "I'm sure Y/N has something else to tend to this morning-"
"Of course, I'd like to dine with you," you interrupted, chuckling softly. "I feel famished myself already. Tommen here can tell me more about Ser Pounce and how he became a knight."
Tommen laughed as you walked together towards the dining hall, ignoring Cersei's warning glare she was sending your way.
Luckily, Joffrey wasn't around to join. And that meant Tommen was free to discuss with you about his cat and about the cats in Dorne. You had shared with him how you used to have a pet cat who died due to old age. You mentioned it was your late cousin Elia's cat.
"That's terrible, I don't want that to happen to Ser Pounce," Tommen said as he brushed the furry cat on his lap.
"I'm sure he'll live a long life, My Prince," you assured him. "In fact, Myrcella has also gotten herself a cat in Dorne."
The mention of Cersei's daughter made the Queen drop her spoon.
"Really? I can't wait to meet them. Mother, can we go visit Myrcella in Dorne?" Tommen asked.
Cersei could only force a smile. You didn't mean to put the Queen on the spot so you eventually changed the topic.
When Tommen had excused himself to chase after Ser Pounce, who suddenly jumped from his lap to chase a mouse, the air in the room grew thick.
"You seem to have gotten close to my daughter," Cersei began, after sipping her wine. "I'm glad hospitality is still being practiced in Dorne nowadays."
You smiled at her. "Yes, Your Grace. Myrcella's a bright girl, kind and exceptional. I loved having her around when we're reading scrolls about the night sky and the history of Dorne."
"She doesn't need to know the history of Dorne, when she'll be back to the Capital once she's of age," Cersei said.
"Well, Myrcella always seems curious. And there's no harm seeking more wisdom when there's nothing left to lose."
There was utter silence as you both continued to eat.
"She misses you, Your Grace," you said sincerely. This softened the Queen's stature. It even brought a little smile on her face.
"Mm, we do send each other letters from time to time," Cersei answered.
"You know no words would be tantamount to physical presence-"
"Are you suggesting I should visit Dorne?" Cersei asked, chuckling.
"Why not, Your Grace? I, myself, could give you a tour."
Cersei laughed softly. And it was the kind of laugh that didn't sound evil. It was a genuine one. A soft one. One that's full of longing.
The conversation went on as you both talked about Dorne, about Myrcella, about Cersei's travels when she was young, how being a Queen caged her from exploring and how she once had a dream she had a boat of her own and she'd be the captain.
It only ended abruptly when Jaime arrived, setting his helmet on the dining table rather loud and harshly, as if he was intentionally interrupting your conversation.
~~~
Later that night, Tywin held a small dinner for the guests. You would have enjoyed it, however, the sight of Cersei and Jaime rather close together only made your stomach churn with spite.
And there was King Joffrey, boastfully showing off the wild boar he had caught earlier that morning. You knew he had ordered a servant to do that for him. You were about to counter his speech but decided against it, remembering how you had promised to control yourself around Cersei's first son.
The only time you couldn't pretend to be happy were the times Cersei was with Jaime. Jaime came back a week ago with a decapitated hand. You felt pity for the man who had suffered being a hostage by the Starks yet you couldn't help feeling bitter whenever he and Cersei had gotten close.
You knew the rumors. Drunk Tyrion even confirmed it one night you accompanied your cousin in certain brothels. That Cersei was truly involved with her twin brother Jaime. That the King was not the true heir. Even Myrcella. Or Tommen.
You decided to ignore them when you could still control yourself. One wrong comment from you would make your nightmare come true.
And then there was Ser Loras Tyrell from Highgarden, brother of the bride to be Lady Margaery, the one Cersei is arranged to be married.
This made you feel more hatred as if you had any right at all.
Cersei was staring outside the window alone with a glass of red wine in her hand when you noticed Loras approached her. She immediately dismissed him the soonest he opened his mouth to talk before she went to watch by the next window instead.
The disappointment on Loras' face brought comfort in yours.
This was the time you finally approached Cersei.
If she'd dismissed you like the way she did to the poor guy, it was probably a sign from the heavens to give up on pursuing after her.
"Your Grace," you greeted, bowing your head before standing beside her by the window. The celebration had spread outside the Red Keep, where you could see a couple of people drinking loudly and yelling outside their houses.
"Parties in Dorne are different," you commented. "It's lively and thrilling."
Cersei snorted before she sipped her wine, her eyes still on the horizon. "And what of the Capital?"
"It's dark and dull, the complete opposite to be honest, but I mean no offense, Your Grace," you replied.
"If it was such a bore to you, why bother come?"
You smiled. "And miss this chance to meet you, Your Grace? I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world."
Cersei's cheeks flushed but your eyes could only be imagining it for the torches inside the castle could be playing tricks on you.
She licked her lips before speaking, "What do you want?"
"What?"
"You've been certainly making it your priority to catch my attention," she went on with disdain in her voice. "Sparing with Joffrey, getting close with Tommen and Myrcella. Is it Tommen you want? I'm sure Dorne won't tolerate such a thing."
It made you laugh. "I believe you're right, Your Grace."
Cersei chuckled darkly. "I'd better be dead before I'd allow your marriage to my youngest boy."
You quickly shook your head, still laughing. "No, Your Grace. It was just to catch your attention."
"To what end?"
And you only stared at her as if you had nothing else to say.
She scoffed, suddenly realizing. "You must be out of your mind. In fact, I believe you want to get yourself killed."
"Dorne is amazing," you reasoned. "In fact, richer and more powerful than Highgarden. And we all know Ser Loras is a pillow biter. And. . . Myrcella already loves it there in Dorne-"
"I don't think you have noticed one wrong physical aspect. How would you even gift an heir to my father?"
You smiled. "Trust me, I have no problems with that, Your Grace. I'm sure the rumors about me have also spread upon my arrival."
Cersei only fell silent as her eyes quickly darted to your crotch back to your face before gazing out the horizon.
"If you think I'd entertain such a ludicrous idea then I suggest you guard your doors at night because I myself will slice off your tongue. You're not even a known Martell. What makes you think degrading myself to your level would even be a fair comparison as to marrying Loras?"
"Forgive me, Your Grace." You bowed, hurt upon the admission. "I didn't mean to offend-"
"Offend? You insulted my family name."
"Cersei, a word?"
Both of you turned to Tywin's voice.
"Apologies My lady Y/n, I have something to discuss with my daughter."
"Of course, Lord Tywin," you said, then you looked at Cersei, avoiding her eyes. "Your Grace."
PLZ DO A SEQUAL TO YANDERE DESTINED ONE
PLZ PLZ PLZ
(Only if u want to ofcs Marry Chrismas and happy holidays!)
first part
You could only see red around you. They say it was a lucky color, and it was normal to adorn every surface of everything with that, and you truly wanted to believe that even. But you didn't, and that color just reminded you of how unlucky you were.
You used to wonder about your wedding., when you were small, dreaming of a white dress, not a red one, and you wondered of your future lover, waiting for you at the aisle. You dreamed of people being happy for you, coming to celebrate your magic day, a hope for your love story.
Instead you were there, drenched in a red that meant nothing to you, lonely without a single member of your family, with a collar on your neck and him.
He was your friend….you believed that…. You believe in him... Instead, he forced you there, with him, forcing you to coronate his dream that you never wanted to be a part of. For months they tried to train you in remembering every aspect of the ceremony for this big day, every detail, every passage, and instead you kept on begging him to let you go, to remove the circlet.
He ignored it, pleading for you to just stop it, that it was better like this… Then he used the circlet. In those moments, acute pains started to make your body contort in agony, not enough to kill you but enough to make you behave. And you begged him to stop, and the monkey ignored your cries, at least if you promised to do what you needed to do.
For months the pain kept going on, and you learned the ceremony to the core. You didn't even try again to feign ignorance; the pain that the circlet was a good lesson in those cases. You tried to run, and he caught you every time, like his brothers and sisters. They had enough love for him to snatch you up; even the young ones had that kind of devotion towards him.
Maybe they believed the same as him, that you needed to stay there as his queen... The new king needed one after all.
You just stopped to fight, letting everything happen…After all, it wasn't like someone cared to rescue you…
You were alone.
"…It's bad luck seeing the bride before the ceremony…."
His figure appeared in the mirror in front of you; his silent step came into your chamber, alongside that look of him. He didn't look happy or angry… instead, he had that sad expression on his face, the one that he had when something was on his mind.
How much you hated how you could read his state of mind now.
"…We're ready to begin… My sisters would like to tie the red string in your hair…since…you know…"
"…Yeah, I know why…"
He looked at the door; it was everything he needed to say to you, but he hesitated. He looked back at you, your eyes glued to the vanity in front of you, admiring the excellent job that his eldest had done to you. You were perfect, radiant.
Maidens, celestials, immortals—everyone shadowed in your presence, but your eyes were the only thing that refused to shine. Those are the eyes that he wanted so desperately to protect and hold with him, wanted so desperately to run away. And he knew who was the cause of it.
"…I know that…This is not what you planned… But believe me, he said, finally facing you, "believe that I only want the best!"
"Um…like putting me the circlet?" Your words must have moved him somehow, because he did look confused.
"Y/n, I…" He stopped again; your eyes didn't even care to lay on him.
"…Don't be late." And so, he exited the room.
The click of the door, the sound of the lock set again to prevent you from getting out of the room… You raised your eyes, admiring that you were indeed beautiful in that color.
In a fit of rage, you screamed, launching the mirror away from the vanity.
///
The room was utterly silent; everyone was too excited to speak over the grand ceremony. Monkeys never used the concept of marriage; they only took the one they wanted, and that's it, but Yuán fèn insisted on doing it.
He explained that it was to celebrate in a more solemn way, in the human way, to make you feel more connected, but you knew it was just to force you more in that role.
Your eyes fixed on the small cup that he has sipped before you, the exchange of the wine from the same one was a symbol of the unity of the goods in some way…
They were now putting a small stray of your and his hair in a small red sack, bound by the red ribbon that was before on your head. Another tradition, the union of heart and soul… But you were so far away from that, and everybody knew that.
Your eyes fixed now on the scissors on the table, shining in the light… there was still some wine there; maybe, if you were fast enough, you could at least reach it… Maybe you could still-
A small cough from the elder that was celebrating the function.
"My lady..."
The cranky voice took you back from this… and you gulped the wine. You couldn't get out of it; there was no way to do it, and, deep down…you didn't even have the strength to do it. You were tired…tired of fighting, to resist... tired, that's all.
His hand holds yours, with a delicate touch that feels almost like he knows how broken you are and is afraid to do more damage.
The exchange of the vows…It wasn't so different from the one in your world, a small similarity…empty words.
"No matter death or life, near or far, we pledged our word: Hold your hand and grow old with you together."
His words echoed in the room; his faithful eyes looked at you with that desperation and love that made you sick by now. His hands gave you a small squeeze, faring your esitation.
You looked back at the gathering of the people of the mountain…faces that you knew in these months, that you cared for months…but no one that you really wanted. There wasn't your mother, crying for her girl, your father proud and barely holding together, your friends that would giggle. …you were alone…
You would be utterly alone forever.
Your eyes watered, sighing in desperation. Another squeeze, stronger this time.
Just say those words.
"No matter...no matter the—"
The scream of an eagle roared in the sky above you, above the red fabrics and the trees. The sound of powerful wings followed a mighty wind that shook the place like a storm, alongside the howling of a dog.
Something black like the night launched itself towards Yuán fèn, starting to attack like its life depended on it. A dog…wait…you knew that dog?!
"X-Xiaotian?!"
You couldn't believe your eyes; the celestial hound was now attacking Yuán Fèn with such vigor and ferocious intent that made you make mistakes. It's for a wolf!
Yuán Fèn tried to cover himself from the mawls of the canine, screaming in pain when his paws scratched the unprotected part of his body. He was able to free one of his arms, launching away the hound, only for it to suddenly jump again on its feet and run in front of you, barking and growling.
Xiaotian was protecting you… Why? It was—
The roaring of the eagle screamed again in the sky, and, while noticing a shadow over your head, you finally raised your gaze. There was no Eagle, but two piercing eyes, a white vest, and a sharp blade that collided with the ground, causing a wave that made everyone fall.
Yuán Fèn, holding his bloody face, finally stood up and realized who interrupted his wedding.
The piercing eyes of the Sacres divinità looked at him with hate and disdain; he freed his weapon from the ground, pointing it towards the monkey, shielding you with himself.
"I don't know what made you loosen your mind, Destined One, but," his baritone voice rumbled, "I won't allow this cruelty to go on.
"E…Erlang Shen?" You voiced your surprise, looking in surprise at him. He allowed himself to Look at you, smiling gently.
"Forgive the late hour, Y/n…I was delayed … But I'm here now."
You couldn't believe what you were seeing; you felt only your heart beating like a drum.
Erlang Shen came…He came for you… You weren't alone.
You couldn't hold a tear in your eye, feeling finally an inch of hope come back to you. You cleaned your face from it; it wasn't over yet.
Yuán Fèn looked at him ,gnashing his teeths at the sight of the Immortal in front of him.
Why! Why did he have to come?!
He thought that he had ALREADY dealt with him; why did he have to come back?!
Why did he have to come now, running this festive day?!
Why couldn't he just give up on you?! Why did he have to fight again against him?!
He summoned the Jingubang staff, pointing it against Erlang Shen, trying to control the urge to smash his head.
"Y/n, come here." His voice was firm, but there was an undertone of anger in it.
You felt a shock; your body started to tremble, feeling what strength Erlang brought to you leaving your body. You gulped, your eyes darting between the two immortals, conflicted about staying behind the newcomer or just doing what you were told.
"Y/n! Come!" His voice, now more authoritarian, made you jump from the fear.
Erlang could not ignore this iteration. You were trembling, divided between following that order or keeping standing behind the man. Then he noticed something else, something that made his blood boil.
A golden glimos on your neck.
Then, his eyes fell on the Destined One, noticing his finger starting to rise in a certain position.
They told him that he could have used that object to avoid every attempt of escape by you, but he didn't want to believe it. He hopes that, from the new king of the monkeys, they would be Just a rumor or disinformation.
Instead he had done something that the same Sun Wukong would find despicable and without remorse.
"For someone that would know about that circlet," his voice, a thunderous whisper, "you sure had some NERVE to use it on her!"
"…I'm not proud of myself," she said about what once you believed was your friend, "but my feelings are true… and I refuse to give up on her."
His venomous voice came to you like a death sentence, you grasped, making a few steps back, while the dog kept on staying in front of you, guarding you alongside his master.
"Stand aside, Erlang Shen. I defeat you once; I can do it again."
Erlang scoffed, emitting from his chest a small chuckle, amused by the words of his opponent, the one that he had contributed to setting on that throne, the one he held, he could change everything.
"Oh, Destined One, you're forgetting two important details…"
They started to move, Yuán Fèn searching for an opening towards you and Erlang Shen keeping standing on guard.
"First, last time I fought believing you could defeat me…hoping it even…now this…" He moved his hand towards you. "Is personal… and…"
The temperature... why was it so hot?
"I'm not alone."
A series of flames started to appear in thin air, xircolating around you and the hound, that wagged his tails for greetingnthe newcomer, the ally that Erlang Shen relied on. Yuán Fèn had to cover his face, the hate so high that he felt his skin burn only from it, his fur starting to emanate that unique smell.
You, besides, could only feel a hearing sensation on you, like a summer day. What you felt was the feeling of two hands holding you in a pair of thin arms.
Red eyes like fire, like the long silk strand that surrounded you both. The smells of Lotus radiated in the air, the sound of metal circles that moved fast as the wind.
"Nezha!"
The third prince looked at you, sighing.
"Why do you have to get into this kind of trouble, huh?"
Yuán Fèn couldn't believe his eyes… Why were they there?! Why Nezha was there?! He growled again, marching towards you, only to be stopped by the first comer.
"This dispute is between us, oh young sage."
You looked at him, fearing for his life. Last time…Last time was different, yes, but now Yuán Fèn was stronger…stronger like Sun Wukong!
Erlang must have felt your worries, his gentle gaze having fallen on you.
"Trust me, Y/n… I'll set things right."
Before you could say or do anything, Nezha, with you in his arms, and Xiaotian were ALREADY moving on a fire wave, escaping the other monkeys, with the scream of the Destined One behind you.
///
Swirling snowflakes danced in the sky; the only sound was the howling of the wind and the hand of the third prince that tried to open the circlet.
"Ugh…Can't do," he sighed in defeat. "Only a Buddha can remove it… Well, we just need to wait for Maitreya…"
Honestly, you couldn't care less about the circlet right now; your brain was still processing the fact that…you escaped. The two immortals came to your rescue…they came… You weren't forgotten…
The tongue of the hound on your cheek made you wake up from your thoughts, laughing for its effusion. Of course he had missed you, as you did too!
Nezha smiled a little, still concerned for your well-being, while, on the Mountain Path, your savior was coming back from the fight, hoping to set things right this time.
Prompt Plot - Dark Reader operating the invisible strings of the King of Small Heath aka Tommy Shelby
I am not responsible for your content consumption.
You always dreamed of making it big, big enough so you didn't have to worry about your next meal, a roof over your head, and even a small nest egg. Not that you had to worry about any of those things apart from your nest egg.
Thomas Shelby, a shrewd "businessman", a man hell-bent on building an empire for his family, a clever man who could sense the next moves of his family, friends, foes and lovers alike on the chessboard of life. But why couldn't he predict you or your moves?
Tumblr media
Maybe it's a good thing, maybe it's bad, but you wouldn't change it for the world. Queen is the real player with any power in the game of chess while the King sits on his ass. And just like the game of chess, your King reaps the benefit of your hard work, not that you care; you prefer to work in the shadows, shadows that shield you from the ugly side of the power play.
It wasn't easy for you to get Tommy's eyes on you, and to be fair, Grace, Ada, and every woman in between them had kept him plenty busy and naturally, he overlooked you. Not that you ever cared, for you indirectly controlling Tommy was a safer option. So many backroom shady deals you have had to grease with money, blackmail, sex murder or some combination of all four of those.
Tumblr media
That's how you met your first husband, a rich old fool obtuse enough to think that a young woman in her 20s, fresh out of college with a business degree, would fall in love with a man old enough to be her grandfather who was also a guest of honour at your graduation.
That's how you met your first husband, and you were determined to be his last wife. Obviously, you weren't gonna waste your 20s tending to a senile old man so far away from the city. You played the doting wife as long as you could, madly in love with the old bastard so well that even his children and grandchildren, who rightfully doubted you and your motives, were convinced that you were really in love with the pile of brittle bones. And joyfully, Thompson died soon, or to put it differently, how you killed him by accidentally overdosing your weak-hearted old husband. You researched enough to know that his death would look natural. Due to his advanced age, his death didn't come as a surprise to his family, and just to put every doubt to rest, you cremated him and divided his ashes among his children.
You played the role of grieving widow well, one might say too well; your refusal to leave the sprawling mansion (and millions of dollars in your name in offshore accounts hidden from his family) for a year really cemented your role as a dumb naive girl in high society, something you needed. London High Society was sprawling with filthy rich people still desperate enough to leech off of every penny from each other, you formed enough connections that when you fell from the face of the earth in search to "find yourself", nobody questioned.
Tumblr media
You returned to Small Heath, with sizeable savings. And unlike the Shelby's you didn't start spending money like them. You wanted to grow your fortune, but you also didn't want Arthur's nosiness, John's curiosity or the sedulous eyes of Tommy on you. And what better way to stay out of their radar than to join them?
You went to Polly and begged for a job at Shelby Brothers Limited. Polly was a little suspicious of you but that suspicion flew away when she saw tears and snot running down your face as you explained how the love of your life died and left you with nothing but a mansion which was too expensive to maintain and how you had to essentially rent it as a holiday home to break even on maintenance.
Tumblr media
Polly got you an interview with Tommy Shelby; she couldn't just hire you into the illegal side of the business without Tommy's approval.
----
"You went to school with Ada, didn't you?" Tommy asked you and you nodded like a good girl.
Tumblr media
"You were in her class?" John questioned.
You cleared your throat and replied affirmatively in a demure voice. "Yes, we were classmates."
"What happened to the rich old fuck you married?" Arthur questioned distastefully.
You saw John and Tommy making eye contact, silently communicating in their own language.
"He died," you replied trying to muster up some tears.
"And left you with nothing?" John probed.
"No, no, he left the mansion in my name, but the mansion is old, and it's too expensive to maintain, so I rented it out as a holiday home. But after all the expenses and salaries of the mansion's employees, there isn't much left." you spill out the lie.
"Don't you have a business degree?" Tommy asked and you nodded.
"Why aren't you using that to get a legitimate job?" John added.
"I don't have the real-world experience they want, being a trophy wife and a widow of a rich man isn't exactly considered an experience." you joked
"From what we have heard, you really loved that old badger," Arthur added.
"I did, Greg Thompson was the love of my life..." you replied with tears in your eyes. Your acting classes were really paying off.
All the three Shelbys in the room silently communicated while you tried to look as pathetic and naive and dumb as possible.
"Most men are fools; they underestimate women, kiddo", your Dad muttered when you trapped your older bully brother in his room when you were a child, not old enough to understand what that meant. But you often thought about it. Maybe that was the day you learned to observe people. Your parents weren't exactly like you; in fact, they were almost the polar opposite of you, where they saw good in people and loved to help people out; you saw bad; you saw their selfishness and their ability to use good people to do their work for them.
To you Shelby's were a safe place to lay low and before you planned your next move. You had few leads that could turn over some serious cash but you also needed muscle to move it and you could definitely use Peaky Blinders for that.
Tumblr media
"Come to Shelby Brothers offices tomorrow at eight in the morning." Tommy calculatedly replied.
"Thank you, thank you so so much, I will do my best, I will not let you down, I promise." you jumped up and down playing your part well.
"We know because we will be keeping our eyes on you" John smirked flirtatiously, clearly checking you out.
Tumblr media
"We don't allow TicTacing, Instacarting, Snapshoting and Facelooking, so don't do that in the office. I am so tired of Finn and Isaiah doing these crazy internet challenges. I don't need you doing it too" Arthur gently warned.
Tumblr media
"Yes, sir" you replied meekly.
"You can go now; send Harry with a bottle of Scotch", Tommy dismissed you.
From that moment on, you committed yourself to kinda, sorta obeying every command from the King, your loyalty unwavering as you embarked on this new path.
I just can't stop smiling at Narmer's manner. When he was extremely direct about whether we were interested in him or not, my poor male MC was about to throw himself in the water XD
I just love the fact that Narmer is straightforward about things, it makes my shy MC's life so much easier. Sure, he turns red like a tomato but it makes it easier to avoid paranoia.
I've lost count of how many times I've been frustrated with a RO because he just wasn't direct about his feelings. Like, man, it's not that hard. Just tell me if you're interested or not. Luckily with Narmer I don't run that risk
And I also don't intend to judge his relationship with his wife or anything like that. I just don't like to judge a person based only on part of a conversation I heard and I don't even know the whole context. So suffering on my route? I'll be dodging as much as I can Imao.
Also, from what I understand, he is not officially married to his supposed wife, or is he? Considering that apparently no one knows about this woman except those closest to him or maybe Ahmose if he talks about his mother. I confess that I was a little confused in this part but it's probably because English isn't my first language and sometimes my mind just freezes haha. So I didn't understand if he wasn't officially married or the MC simply didn't know this information.
If that were the case, would we be able to marry him or would we be something like a concubine or something?
If he wasn't, and it was possible to marry him, what would your reaction be if the MC left a ring in your room surrounded by flowers with a little card:
Will you marry me?
( ) Absolutely
( ) Of course
( ) Yes
( ) No (Optional)
While hiding behind the door watching your reaction?
⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄
Anyway, I love your IF please never stop with it 🥹💕 I've never smiled as much with a character as I am smiling right now! I can't wait for the next update. As far as I remember, this is the one where we blocked the route, right? Please Narmer, give me more kisses on the forehead and your hand in marriage 🥹🫴
(I got a little carried away and it got bigger than it should have, sorry XD)
Yes, Narmer wanted to be very straightforward in letting the MC know that he is not uninterested, but it's going to be hard to be in any sort of relationship with him for many reasons. So he (and the partner) are either all in, or no deal.
The wife business was probably confusing because I didn't write in detail yet about the king's marriage rights. This will be explained a bit more in Narmer's route, so things will get clearer later if you choose his romance.
The king is the only person in the country who can have more than one spouse. Narmer is officially married to Nefru, but being married to the king doesn't automatically make someone a queen consort. The king has to give out that title. So Nefru is a consort, but she is not the main consort, and was not given any title, nor does he go anywhere with her in public, so that's why most people don't know about her. Simply for being married to the king, her official rank is princess.
Narmer could technically marry anyone else he wishes without getting a divorce. He can also make anyone else his queen consort. It's his right. (for a male MC, Narmer will figure out another title)
It will be possible to marry him, if you manage to reach at least a neutral ending with him. In the scenario you mentioned, Narmer would smile and say, "Let's not get the word out that you were the one who asked me and not the other way around, but... yes, I've been thinking about it too."
Thanks for the sweet message 🥰 The romance lock-in choice will come in the next public update (probably in a few weeks I think), so not long to wait now :)))
prologue || Part II. || part III. || masterlist
Tumblr media
The halls of the Red Keep no longer echoed with screams, but silence could be just as loud. The princess's name was whispered like a curse among the maids. Afraid of angering the new king, Robert Baratheon, if he heard her name.
Gone were the banners with the dragon symbol of house Targaryen. They had been stripped and burned, along with the body of the former king. Black and gold now hung in their place, the symbol of house Baratheon, antlers raised in triumph.
She passed them with her eyes downcast, one hand brushing the cold stone walls she had once run past with her younger brother, not even a week ago. Nothing smelled the same. No cinnamon from the kitchens, no burning lavender from her mother's quarters. Only steel, sweat, and the sharp sting of lemon oil used to clean away the blood.
She had not been given her old rooms. Robert had made sure of that. Instead, she was placed high in the Maiden vault, a tower meant to house ladies of courtly virtue, and more importantly, to keep them inside. Her windows were tall, but narrow. Her door thick. And outside it stood Ser Gregor Clegane.
The Mountain.
Twice the size of any man she had ever seen. Shadow-faced and stone-voiced, he spoke rarely and glared often. The first time she'd opened her door to ask for more ink and parchment, he had only stared at her. "You may write," he'd said, flatly. When she asked if she could visit the godswood, he answered with silence.
It wasn't until three days into her strange captivity that Robert came to see her again. Not alone, he would never come alone when it comes to her, but accompanied by Lord Eddard Stark and Lord Varys, the Spider. Aera sat on the cushioned window ledge, legs tucked beneath her, hair brushed back, wearing a pale blue gown that once belonged to Queen Rhaella. It had been found in the ruins of her mother's old wardrobe, and it was the only thing that still smelled like home.
"Still alive, are you?" Robert grunted. She didn't rise. "Should I not be?" Robert narrowed his eyes, but there was no fire in them today. Only something heavier. Tired. "You've been quiet," he said. "Too quiet."
"I was told that's how prisoners should behave." Eddard shifted beside him, arms crossed, his face unreadable but not unkind. Varys, ever smiling, made a small noise of amusement. "She's sharp," Varys said softly. "Like her mother." Aera tensed up upon hearing her mother being talked about. The three man noticed.
Robert ignored the bald man. His gaze fixed on her like he was trying to decide what, exactly, she was. "I don't trust you," he said at last. "Not yet. Maybe never. But you haven't tried to run away yet. Haven't made demands. Haven't screamed or cried or begged for a crown."
"I don't want a crown," Aera said quietly her voice softly but broken. "I just want to live."
A strange expression flickered across Robert's face. Regret, maybe even something that he remembered. For a moment, she thought he might say something. But then he grunted again, as if that was answer enough. "You'll stay here. For now. Under watch."
"Under the Mountain?" she asked, with a glance at the door. She didn't hide the bitterness in her voice. "If he keeps you alive, I don't care if you hate him," Robert snapped. "You're still a Targaryen. And Targaryens burn people."
"I've never lit a candle," she said coldly. Robert actually laughed. It was short, but real. "She's got fire, Ned," he muttered. "More than I thought."
"I told you she was different," Eddard said, finally stepping forward. He looked down at Aera with the solemn eyes of winter. "You are not your father. But you are your blood. It's a hard thing to live with. Even harder to outlive."
Aera didn't look away. "Then what am I to be?" Robert raised his brows. "That's the question, girl." He turned to go. "For now, you'll be raised here. Fed. Watched. If you behave, maybe I'll let you live in your old room."
"And if I don't behave?" she asked. Robert's smile didn't reach his eyes. "Then the Mountain does more than watch." The door slammed behind them.
That night, Aera didn't sleep. She sat by the window, watching the stars rise behind the towers of the city that once worshipped her house, her family. Somewhere beyond the horizon, her mother and Viserys were in hiding. Somewhere further still, maybe her dragon egg would one day crack open, and something greater would return. But for now, she was alone. A ghost in her own home. And the Mountain stood at her door.
____
It had been three weeks since the bells rang through King's Landing.
Three weeks since the wine flowed and whores danced and gold cloaks filled the streets with laughter and blood in equal measure. The city had not seen such joy since before the war — since before the dragons screamed their last.
It was a wedding, they said. A time for celebration. Robert Baratheon, the Usurper King, had taken a lioness to wife.
Cersei Lannister had arrived at the Red Keep draped in silk and suspicion, her eyes colder than the winds that rolled down from the Vale. Her father had sent her with wagons of gold, and servants trained to smile. Her brothers came too — the golden twins, and the dwarf who watched more than he spoke.
And in the quiet, between the cheers and feasts and shifting banners, Aera was moved. Without ceremony. Without warning. She'd been sitting in the Maidenvault, combing out her hair with a silver-handled brush, a silent gift from Lord Stark, when Ser Gregor arrived.
"You're to come," he said. No more, no less. Nervously she followed him through the narrow halls and secret turns, her unhatched egg protected between her arms. Steps echoing until they reached a door she hadn't seen in what felt like another life. Her room. Her real room.
Not some tower meant for ghosts or virgins, but the chamber where she'd slept beneath stars painted on the ceiling. Where her mother once kissed her forehead goodnight. Where the windows faced the land behind the houses of folks, and the curtains had once been embroidered with dragons dancing in fire. Now the dragons were gone. The curtains were plain. But it was still hers.
She stepped inside slowly, as if expecting the stone to crumble. Everything was different than she remembered. The walls still bore the faint smoke stains from the fire — not her fire, but the soldiers' torches when they'd searched for gold and secrets. The bed had been changed. The carpets too. But the fireplace remained, and the old crack in the ceiling where a sword had once swung wild.
"Why?" she asked, turning back to Gregor. He stood like a wall. "Orders."
"From Robert?" He said nothing. But she saw it, in the slight twitch of his jaw. Not Robert. Cersei. Of course. It was no kindness. No gift of mercy. Cersei Lannister did not want the girl with silver hair beneath her roof. Not under the same tower. Not within breath's reach of her future sons.
Better to give her the ghost chamber. Let her haunt her own blood-soaked memories. Let her choke on what was taken from her. Aera stood in the center of the room and turned slowly. Everything felt wrong, but... there was something else. Beneath the dust and silence. A hum. A whisper of power, tucked in the stones.
Her fingers trailed along the mantle, where once her father had set her dragon egg. She laid it inside, careful not to break it. It hadn’t even stirred. But sometimes, at night, it had glowed, just faintly, like something sleeping deep within.
She sat on the edge of the bed and stared out of the closed window. And for the first time since the rebellion, she breathed.
Later that evening, as the castle began to quiet, Aera received a visitor. He knocked once. She did not speak. He entered anyway. Tyrion Lannister, the shortest man she ever saw and wearing a half-smile that gave away nothing.
"Well, well," he said. "A dragon princess in exile. Back in her perch. How poetic." Aera didn't rise nor did she react emotionally to his choice of words. "This is no perch. It's a cage with nicer curtains. "He laughed. "And yet, you're still here."
"What do you want, Lannister?"
"To see if the ghost girl was real," he said. "There's talk, you know. That Robert keeps you alive only so the realm remembers what could have been. A living lesson. A silent dragon."
Aera's mouth twitched. "He must enjoy irony."
"Oh, he doesn't enjoy much of anything anymore," Tyrion said, strolling to the wine pitcher she hadn’t noticed till now. "Except drinking. And maybe Cersei—though I doubt that it will last." She didn't reply. Tyrion poured two cups he magically pulled out of his cloak, set one by her side.
"No poison," he added. "Though if I wanted to kill you, I'd simply let you marry a nobleman and die slowly of boredom." Her voice was cold when she responded "I'd rather marry poison."
"You're not the only one." He countered back as he purred wine into each of the cups. Aera, seated cross-legged on the rug before the cold hearth of her reclaimed room, was beginning to suspect that the walls themselves whispered after what seemed like hours of drinking the wine.
She was half-listening to one of them, either the wall or Tyrion Lannister, sprawled on her bed, mid-way through a story about a Dornish woman and a bowl of grapes he got out of the nowhere, when the door handle jiggled.
Tyrion stopped. Then came a thud. A muttered curse. Then, “Seven bloody hells - he’s asleep?” Aera stood slowly as the door creaked open, revealing a golden flash of armor and a glare that could cut steel. Jaime Lannister. The Kingslayer. Lord Tywin’s heir. The golden twin. And he was glaring at the unconscious, and unknown, guard slumped against the wall beside her door.
“Of course he’s asleep,” Aera said, tone cool. “What else is a sworn protector for, if not naps?” Jaime’s eyes flicked to her, surprised. “You’re awake.” At that she on,y raised her eyebrow. “She doesn’t sleep,” Tyrion called lazily from the bed. “She haunts. Didn’t you hear?”
“You’re in her room?” Jaime asked. “I was bored. She was bored. The wine’s better here with her. And her walls are gossiping.” Jaime stepped in, looked between his brother and the silver-haired girl with narrowed eyes. “Have you both lost your minds?”
Aera grinned, her cheeks as red as roses from the alcohol. “Probably.” There was a beat of silence before Tyrion sat up. “You’re late, brother. I thought you would have left feast even sooner. You know, the one where half the nobles pretend to love Cersei and the other half pretend to love Robert.”
“I was looking for you,” Jaime muttered. “Didn’t think I’d find you curled up in a dragon’s den.” Aera tilted her head. “I’m the safest one in the Keep. Who would dare kill the king’s prize ghost?” Her voice full of pride. “True,” Tyrion muttered, sipping on his cup. “He likes his trophies.”
They should’ve stayed. Should’ve let the silence settle again. But Tyrion had already risen. Jaime was already pacing. And Aera? She walked to her window, glanced out at the flickering lights of the feast still raging below. The music had started again. Laughter echoed faintly.
“I know a way down,” she said without turning. Tyrion raised a brow. “Of course you do.”
“You’ve snuck out before?” Jaime asked, folding his arms.
She turned, a soft smirk tugging at her lips. “You think I don’t know this castle better than my own skin?” The boys looked at one another. Jaime gave the faintest shake of his head. Tyrion grinned. Moments later, the trio slipped out, the two still having their cup in their hands. Past the sleeping guard, through a half-hidden servant door, down narrow stairs slick with condensation and cobwebs. Aera led them like she had been born in the stone. Like she belonged in the darkness of old secrets.
And when they emerged, just outside the great hall, the feast still roaring behind iron doors, Tyrion looked around and whispered, “We should hire you.” Aera snorted. “You couldn’t afford me.”
Inside, the court was loud — nobles red-faced from drink, ladies fanning themselves with gold-trimmed silks, and Cersei seated like a bored statue beside her already drunk husband. Aera kept to the shadows, the two beside her like her guards. That didn’t stop her from whispering.
“See that lord with the red sash?” she said, just beside Tyrion’s ear. “He’s been hiding coin in the Sept’s catacombs. Thought I wouldn’t hear his squire talking about it in the laundry chamber.” Tyrion raised a brow. “Blackmail?” - “Insurance,” she said sweetly.
“And the maid with the braid? By the wine?” she added, eyes flicking. “Poisoned the last three cups she served. All her targets? Coincidentally owed debts to House Lannister.” Tyrion looked delighted. “You are the most dangerous thing in this castle.”
“Not yet,” she said, “but I’m practicing.”
“What about him?” Jaime muttered, nodding to a thick-chinned lord slumped near the hearth. “Oh,” Aera murmured, “he talks in his sleep. Said some rather unfortunate things about Robert’s mother last night. And I might have told the kitchen boys to repeat it to the wrong ears.”
“You’re a menace,” Jaime said, trying not to grin. “And you’re late to realize it.”
Her silver-blonde hair shimmered faintly in the dim torchlight, and her expression, mischief incarnate, was aimed squarely at Lord Halmer of the Reach, who stood across the room, drunk and laughing too loudly at something he didn’t understand.
“Tell me again,” Tyrion whispered, eyes gleaming, “is it true he once tried to bribe a septa to say he was a Targaryen bastard?” Aera leaned back against the pillar, sipping from her goblet. “That, and he claims he was kissed by a dragon egg. Claims he still has the scar. I’ve seen it. It’s a freckle.”
Jaime chuckled. “Poor man. I almost feel sorry for him.” Aera smiled. “He once asked if he could ‘help me repopulate the line.’ I told him he couldn’t even repopulate his own hairline. They all laughed. Until—
“I see the dragons still breathe fire.”
The words weren’t loud. But they echoed in their bones. Aera froze mid-sip. Tyrion nearly dropped his cup. Jaime blinked, shoulders tensing as if instinctively expecting a blade at his back. Because Eddard Stark was standing directly behind them. How long he’d been there was anyone’s guess. He looked at the three of them with the kind of calm that was infinitely worse than rage.
Aera turned slowly, not even a flicker of guilt on her face. Instead, she took a step forward with all the grace of someone who owned the room now. And then, to everyone’s surprise, she turned toward Lord Halmer, raised her voice loud enough for half the hall to hear, and said sweetly:
“My lord, forgive me. Ser Jaime and Lord Tyrion dragged me away, demanded I tell them every secret I know about the noble houses. I resisted, of course, but… they insisted.”
Tyrion gaped. “Traitor.” Jaime just blinked, fighting a smile. “I told you she’d feed us to the wolves if it meant saving face.” Eddard raised a brow, arms crossed as he watched this little theater unfold.
Lord Halmer, who had barely noticed the group before, now looked absolutely thrilled to be the center of attention. “Ah! No offense taken, Your Grace! If I’m the subject of court curiosity, well - I suppose I must be important enough to be mocked!”
“Oh no,” Aera said gently, “we weren’t mocking you. I was only explaining your theory about your noble birth and the dragon egg scar. A very noble scar.” Tyrion turned and walked straight to the wine table. Jaime looked up at the ceiling like he was praying for it to collapse. Lord Halmer turned a bright shade of red.
And Eddard? He gave a soft, weary sigh. “Seven save me from court politics and dragon tricksters.” Aera turned to him, beaming. “You’re welcome to join us next time, Lord Stark. I’m sure you know far more secrets than I do.” He looked at her. Really looked at her.
Then said, dry as winter wind, “And I’ve kept them all. That’s the difference between us.” She gave him a wink and raised her goblet. “For now.”
That night, the torches outside her window flickered like stars fallen too close. The bells of the city had gone quiet again. The new queen was crowned. The old princess was remembered only in whispers.
