thinking about how katniss was mentally preparing herself to advise other tributes on how to survive the games, as if she didn't live through a technicality. not only that but, sending children (whilst one herself) into inevitable death with a 1/24 chance of surviving, takes a massive mental toll before it even happened. the quarter quell completely fucking destroyed her, especially considering she had no time to adjust to the information whatsoever
