Transparency in AI-use within Fandom Culture (or: how to be upfront when you risk getting shot down)

Since writing my original post, it’s been really cool hearing from fellow writers who use AI as a support tool to help them keep writing despite their mental health struggles, dyslexia, or in my case, depression.

There are valid and justified ethical concerns to do with the use of AI itself, such as the issue of consent, which I’ve tried to discuss elsewhere. But I wanted to write this post with fanfic writers and fandom in mind. There are some people like me who are already using it as a tool for writing, and so I wanted to look at how this can be done transparently and respectfully, and so that readers know and trust what they are reading.

Context

I’ve been using generative AI as a tool for over 18 months - initially as part of my work in the charity sector, and then later in writing fanfic. When my little one is older, I hope to go back into the field of Public Health, where I'll be using it as a tool to help analyse and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data (among a ton of other things), in order to help address health inequalities in the UK.

Perhaps naively, I didn’t fully understand the ethical concerns to begin with, particularly with regards to fanfic, and by the time I started realising there were issues it felt like there were no safe spaces in which to ask people about it.

Fear and loathing in Fandom Spaces

It seems like there’s this environment of fear and shame at the moment (the posts and reblogs that I see on my dash come across as absolutist, derogatory and even abusive towards anyone using AI for any reason), and I think this is why a lot of writers don’t want to be open about their use of AI, especially if they are in a small fandom and are worried what their mutuals or fellow writers and readers might think of them, or how they might get excluded from certain fandom spaces.

I’ve already seen some writing events that have a strict ‘no AI’ policy and whose language reflects the anti-AI sentiments above, so I can see why some people might join these events but not want to disclose their use of AI. (Having said that, it’s not okay for people to enter an exchange undercover that has clear rules against AI, and to just stay silent and use it anyway. If an event or community has set boundaries, those need to be honoured and respected. We need to have integrity as AI users, and as a friend pointed out, respect has to go both ways).

Given that writers use generative AI for different reasons and in different ways, I think there needs to be a willingness to have an open and thoughtful conversation to reflect this spectrum of use. I’m just thinking off the top of my head – maybe a writing event could have these types of guidelines:

Whump-Mania Writing Event: AI Use Guidelines* 1. Be transparent. If you used AI (for ideas, research, grammar, etc.), mention it in your author notes. 2. Your words come first. AI can help but the story should be yours. No fully AI-written fic, please. 3. No purity tests. This is about honesty, not exclusion. Let’s keep the space kind and open.

(*For transparency: I asked chatgpt to come up with those guidelines, then I edited them. Also I made up the phrase Whump-Mania. As far as I know, there is no writing event called that, but it would be awesome if there was).

This is just a starter for ten, and would obviously need to be a lot more nuanced and thoughtful, especially in the context of gift exchanges, as people have varying degrees of comfort when it comes to accepting a gift where AI has been used in any aspect of writing it. (Personally, I’ve taken part in Secret Santa fic exchanges, and whilst I’d be fine with someone gifting me a work where they used AI to proof-read it, I would probably be a bit peeved if I found out they’d just taken my prompt, fed it into chatGPT and then gifted me that work).

So maybe some kind of tick box – “this is the level of AI-use I’m comfortable receiving” – ranging from ‘none’ to ‘fully-generated by AI’, with options in between. There would need a proper discussion, but I think it would be a worthwhile one so that these types of exchanges could remain inclusive.

(Just to point out again though, it’s up to the organiser at the end of the day - it’s their event and their hard work and time running it. If you’re unsure about their AI stance, it might be worth politely contacting them just to see what level of AI-use they might consider accepting, and sharing how you would use it - for example for spellchecking or research - and then politely accepting their decision without arguing or vagueposting about it, because they’re people too and it’s about remaining kind and respectful in this whole wider discussion, even if you feel hurt or misunderstood).

Tagging (or: my tag is not your tag)

So with regards to tagging – at the moment, I feel like tagging AI on AO3 isn’t a good option because there’s only one tag, “Created using generative AI��, which doesn’t distinguish between fully-AI generated works and one of my fics where I write every word and then use AI afterwards as a final spell-check before posting.

Also there’s a post going around on Tumblr at the moment that’s a screencap of the AO3 tag and listed works, and shaming people who have used the tag (although no individuals have been named). It’s got over 70,000 notes and it honestly feels a little scary.

Transparency can only work in an environment where people feel safe to speak (and tag), knowing they’re not going to get subjected to shame, hate and abuse. (Sorry for the jumpscare bold type. Just think that this is important to highlight).

Personal AI Disclaimer Use: (or, Me, Myself and AI)

So what I’m choosing to do is put an AI disclaimer use on my AO3 profile which gives me a voice to describe my own use of AI as well as advocating for more ethical AI. Then I’m putting a note in the author’s note of my fic saying “this fic was created in accordance with my personal AI disclaimer use, specifically - ” and then sharing how, e.g for research into mining duridium, a fictional ore in Star Trek.

This is the best I can come up with at the moment but I’d genuinely like to hear what other writers and readers think about it and if you have any suggestions – feel free to use the ask box (the anon function is on) or DM me. This is also why I’ve tagged this post with the fandom I’m currently writing in, for transparency and to get feedback.

It might be that because I use generative AI full stop, in any capacity, this means you’re not able to engage with my writing any more. I’m sorry for this but I do understand why you might feel like that. I appreciate your candour and wish you the Vulcan blessing of peace and long life and prospering in all you do.

Other people are understandably cautious about reading my fics going forward, and so that’s why I want to be transparent about the way I use AI, so that people can trust what they’re reading, and to make an informed decision about whether or not to engage with the story.

In conclusion

I think we need to be having this conversation out in the open. AI can be guilty of suppressing creativity, but as fans, we can also suppress creativity by creating environments that feel exclusionary or even unsafe, where people feel reluctant to speak up, share or create.

I know this topic of AI is a raw and emotive one, and I’m sorry if anything I’ve written has come across as minimising the issue or anyone’s feelings, that wasn’t my intention.

#1. Favorite weird plot gimmick from OG seasons (1-approx.13)?

Very hard to pick as I love a lot of those weird, offbeat story points, but for now, I'll go with the Woodland Critters.

The juxtaposition of these adorable little critters with some of the show's blackest humor-no small feat-will always be hilarious to me.

#4. School aged background characters I'd love to see brought back?

My first pick is definitely Bill and Fosse. Seriously, just imagine them playing off PC Principal. Hell, let's have them come out as gay just so they can keep calling things gay.

There's also DogPoo, who it would also be cool to see more of. Maybe he can be this quirky, offbeat genius type, and you could have somebody like Brimmy as his silent sidekick of sorts.

#6. Adult character who used to be prominent that you'd like to see return in a prominent capacity?

While I answered this question when Lotus asked me, I'll go ahead and pick another character. Since I already picked Jimbo and Ned the first time, I'll go with Big Gay Al. I'd like to see Big Gay Al (and Mr. Slave, for that matter) again and see he's still super (thanks for asking).

#9. Potential storyline/plot I'd like to see in the future?

-For starters, something with Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Butters basically conjured the darn thing into reality, those bastards have to do something with that!

-It would also be really kewl if they did something that explores how Stan could end up at his second PC Future (military/space force). People talk and debate about Cartman's fate, yet pretty much everybody has agreed to ignore Stan's second future, so I think an episode laying out how this isn't as far fetched as people might think could be a good idea.

-An episode focusing more on Butters and Dougie's relationship. I've said it multiple times, but this is something the show hasn't done nearly enough with, and I think it would be a great way to keep Butters fresh as a character, let alone one guaranteed to lead at least one episode per season.

-What's been going on in Hell since Satan's ascension to Heaven? Is Damien in charge now or is something else going on?

-Shelley and Kevin McCormick dating. Yes, I'm talking about making a ship canon, but beyond that, I do think it could open up some interesting avenues for storytelling.

#11. Game/Activity I'd like to see the boys play or engage in?

Comic Con. Don't tell me you wouldn't love to see the kids at Comic Con. Hell, make it a trilogy of sorts with different kids going to see different things (can also give the show a chance to work another Creek story in there).

A boat race could also be fun, as well as the good old wishing well.

#14. One-shot character I wish had been explored more?

Damien. That's always my first answer to this question, and I've already elaborated why elsewhere, so I'll instead go for my next choice-Gregory of Yardale.

Beyond his obvious role as a rival of Stan for Wendy, there's plenty of other characters he could have a solid dynamic with...

-Pip: As the other British kid in school, Gregory is basically everything Pip is not-popular, successful, charismatic, respected, and proud. You could take this dynamic quite a few different ways; you could

Have Pip initially excited to have another Brit at school, only to start souring in the idea either because of Gregory rubbing him the wrong way and/or some other reason.

Have Pip admire and/or envy Gregory, with the latter being who Pip wishes he could be.

Have Pip realize that with Gregory's presence, he's now lost the one truly distinct thing he has going for him and which distinguishes him from his peers.

Have Gregory take Pip under his wings, so to speak, help him learn to stand his own ground or have another guaranteed ally in class/school.

Consequently, any combination of these reasons could prompt some strong character development for Pip in his own right. This would be especially helpful once Butters starts coming into his own as a character and proves more effective at filling the role Pip had originally been intended for.

-Kyle: Besides the obvious guilt-by-association, Kyle and Gregory could also have an interesting dynamic as two headstrong moral crusaders. While Gregory comes from a place of clear and blatant privilege, Kyle comes from a place of marginalization as the one Jewish kid in his class and from his family being one of or the only Jewish families in South Park. Gregory is most likely an only child, Kyle is an older brother with the responsibilities that entails. Gregory is generally very even-tempered, Kyle is known for having a hair trigger temper. Gregory is confidant to the point of often being boastful, Kyle deals with a great deal of self-doubt. Gregory would probably have girls throwing themselves at him, Kyle doesn't exactly have the best of luck with girls. Gregory literally introduces himself by mentioning his grade average, Kyle is a good student but does see his academic success as the be-all-end-all.

-Cartman: He and Gregory are polar opposites in many respects-Gregory coming from a comfortable home life with both parents at home, Cartman only has his mom; Gregory is very much a gentleman driven by a clear moral code, Cartman is a crude, obnoxious sociopath who (usually) only gets involved if there's something in it for him; Gregory is thin and keeps himself in top shape, Cartman is the fattest kid at school. Yet there are also some similarities between the two-both are proud and egotistical, both have a certain amount of charm and charisma that allows them to sway people to their side, both have grown up as an only child, Gregory's home life likely involves a mix of being spoiled and emotional neglect much like Cartman's, and he also likely has a certain amount of insecurity that causes him to seek out others' approval/attention much like Cartman.

-Kenny: Again, polar opposites in many ways. Gregory presumably comes from a home of wealth and privilege, Kenny and his family live in poverty. Gregory is the classic gentleman who is reserved and carries himself with a certain degree of decorum, Kenny is foul mouthed and loves to tell dirty jokes and limericks. Again, Gregory is an only child, Kenny is the middle child of three. At the same time, however, both have a strong sense of honor and duty and are driven to help whenever they can (as best exemplified by Mysterion in Kenny's case).

-Tolkien: As the other rich kid in South Park, Gregory and Tolkien could also have an interesting dynamic. Once again, Gregory is the epitome of privilege-a wealthy cishet white male, while Tolkien is the one black kid in town (at least until Nichole's arrival). Tolkien is very humble and doesn't like to make a big deal about his family's wealth, Gregory has a fairly sizable ego and makes no bones about his family's wealth. Tolkien is very well liked by the other boys and is genuinely part of the group, Gregory is tolerated at best and is never truly be part of the group. Tolkien is a pretty normal kid as far as South Park goes, Gregory is actively throwing himself into some huge mission or (mis)adventure on a regular basis.

-Gary Harrison: This didn't occur to me until recently, but I could see these two having a strong dynamic. I can see a one-side rivalry on Gregory's part as the two often seem to be in competition for one reason or another, be it grades, athletics, or whatever. And while Gary may not have Gregory's wealth and privilege, he also has many things that Gregory doesn't have. He has the loving and tight-knit family that Gregory likely doesn't have, his peers genuinely like and respect him rather than just tolerate him, he still has a sense of self-worth even if he doesn't get that one A+, he's perfectly content being single, and he's naturally kind, humble, and generous. There's nothing truly extraordinary about Gary, and he's okay with that; he's perfectly happy and content to do good without receiving credit or recognition for it. Basically, Gary is the person Gregory wishes he could be.

And there's probably a few others I could think of, but that's just off the top of my head.

I could also mention other one-off characters, but I'll just stick with Gregory for now.

#19. Would I be interested in any subsequent Post-COVID spin-offs/specials/episodes or with the kids as teens or adults?

Yes, absolutely. Hell, I've even been working on and off on a Post-COVID sequel of sorts (you can read the first few chapters on my Ao3) where I deal with Cartman's handling of his loss as well as flashing back to his old life and the events of the special from his POV.

-I'm 100% going to make a post about Hannah as a canon character because I got things to say -I actually really do want to play Emily damn it, I like her, but in my head there isn't much left that I want to add to her story and anyway I feel like she'd ditch everybody except Sam, Chris and be vaguely civil with Matt if he tried to save her at least once but that's it? plus I don't think I can write her dialogue in a convincing way so... no? -I REALLY want to write Ellie from T.he Last of Us but same thing as Emily, I don't think I can write her dialogue well enough! Plus I basically only want to focus on her canon interactions because I'm desperate for more Ellie and Joel content and I want him to STAY? to deal with the 'what if he survives instead' aus (and also I ship Ellie and D.ina like hell but I'm already satisfied with how it goes in canon?) But I also know that every time I write her I'll be thinking 'okay but I really really wish I could be writing Hannah more' and that's not good, maybe I should consider adding private muses to my multi in the sense that if someone is mutuals with me here and I see them writing a starter call for some Joel/Tommy/Dina/etc&Ellie shenanigans I can go for it, but nothing more? -I'm talking like I'm writing with a dozen Joels and tlou muses btw but this is all imaginary. -it's Hannah's type of relationships that I want to explore the most? (she's so needy even out of character lol) ironically with Ellie as well because I always say that Ellie is amazing to her (like, I love Clementine from TWD but Hannah wouldn't be shocked by her personality) so I keep returning here. But also I literally follow max 20 people instead of hundreds and I don't know WHERE TO FIND RPERS because 90% of people have characters in multis and often don't appear in group promos, most people aren't making promos, and worse, to find a promo in the tags you need to scroll through 458689 group rp posts -why are all the fandoms I love SO SMALL, between agents of shield and ouat a decade ago I got so used to have 20 different people roleplaying each character and now I wonder where is everybody at

Open Starter

yeah, let's ignore my ever-growing pile of drafts take that, the family stuff got me today

On a good day, Jaheira’s home was nothing if not a battlefield of pure, unrelenting chaos.

Jhessem had just cut her own hair — rather unevenly, from the looks of it — and was now wailing over the disaster. Fig, meanwhile, stood at the veranda, wooden sword raised like a seasoned warrior, demanding to see some imaginary credentials from whoever gets close enough.

Jaheira barely had a moment to breathe before she turned on her heel, swiftly scooping Fig up under her arm as if she were nothing more than a sack of grain. "Apologies, mighty soldier," she said with exaggerated solemnity, "but I fear you take your post far too seriously."

Fig squealed with laughter, kicking her legs but making no real effort to escape.

"Jhessem, wait for me in the bathroom!" Jaheira called over the noise. "I'll be there in a moment!"

She scanned the room, eyes flicking from one child to the next. Where in the hells was Tate?

"Rion," she called, spotting her eldest lounging at the table with her feet propped up, a book in hand. "Where’s your brother?"

Without so much as glancing up, Rion lazily gestured toward Jord, who was at the stove, carefully stirring dinner.

Jaheira sighed. "The other brother."

Finally, Rion deigned to glance around, as if Tate might have magically appeared under the table or behind the furniture. She shrugged. "Dunno."

Jaheira sighed through her nose. "Would you be so kind as to search for him?"

Rion smirked, flipping a page. "Is a nine-year-old too much for the great High Harper?"

Jaheira narrowed her eyes, pressing her lips into a thin line. Damn the girl, testing her patience. “Gods, I don’t know who you take after."

"Oh, certainly not you," Rion said, grinning.

Jaheira rolled her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Rion. Please."

With an exaggerated groan, Rion dragged herself out of her chair, muttering something under her breath as she set off on her reluctant mission.

Jaheira finally set Fig down, who had been giggling all the while. She crouched, smoothing the child’s hair back. "New orders, soldier. Hold your position, keep watch, and do not let any intruders through until I return."

"Yes, Commander!" Fig threw a hand to her forehead in a dramatic salute.

The High Harper finally turned her attention to the guest. "Just give me five minutes. Alright, maybe ten. I’ll be right back — but by all means, make yourself at home. Put your feet up, raid the pantry, start a small revolution, I don’t know. Just don’t burn the place down."

Hi there~! It's been a long time coming, but here it is, my attempt at reworking the 5e warlock, due to my dissatisfaction with the version presented in One DND (5.5??) feature a whole host of reworked and altered options so you may be the best devil worshiper you can be, the rest of this post shall go over some of the changes made along with my intention behind the changes.

The base class.

For starters, eldritch blast is now a class feature. Simply put, every warlock takes eldritch blast, doesn't matter if you're focused on support, damage, or you're a weapon wielding hexblade, eldritch blast is such a good option, so I might as well give it as a base class feature. Similarly the agonizing blasts ability to add your charisma modifier to its damage rolls was added for similar reasons, skipping over the spellcasting, pact boon and invocation changes, the contact patron feature from the One DND UA was added for thematic purposes, and eldritch master was reworked to instead allow your patron to concentrate on a spell, which yes, does allow you to concentrate on two spells at one (At disadvantage)

Spellcasting.

The One DND warlock features the rather unique ability to choose between intelligence, wisdom or charisma as its casting stat, while I enjoyed the concept I decided to take it a step further by tying your spellcasting ability to the otherworldly patrons themselves, essentially using their spellcasting stat in a way.

Additional changes include you getting your 3rd-level slot at 6th-level as opposed to 11th, cause the highest most dnd campaigns reach are around 10-11th level, and it feels bad having to wait all the way until then just to cast three spells a day, some other changes of note include the warlock being able to ritually cast, and the spells gained from their otherworldly patron are now automatically prepared, rather than added to the warlock spell list. Which i'm not sure why they did that? Unless they though it'd break warlock somehow.

The Pact boons.

Basically every pact boon got upped in power, such as pact of the blade and pact of the chain, alongside them growing in strength when you reach 5th-level, in addition, two new pact boons were added. The first being the Pact of The Gunpowder, based on the Pact of The Trigger by MonkeyDM, its an eldritch blast/cantrip focused pact for those who want to truly commit themselves to the eldritch blast lifestyle, alongside the Pact of The Idol, allowing you to sacrifice your hit dice to perform various features.

Eldritch Invocations.

A selection of (Mostly new) invocations were made for this document, my favorite would have to be the ones given to the pact of the blade. Admittedly in the rush to get this out by the deadline I chose to cut back on the invocations in particular, but who knows, maybe when I get to revising this someday I can add even more invocations to the list.

Subclasses

All of the subclasses were revised in one way or another, but for the sake of time i'll go other three in particular: The Hexblade, The Horror and The Undying. The hexblade is a rather infamous subclass within the DND community in no small part cause of how strong a 1st-level dip is for many characters (Cough, paladin) but the more I looked at it, the more I found myself bored of it. Don't get me wrong the 5e hexblade is rather powerful, but it just doesn't scratch the itch of the cursed item patron, and with hex warriors main drawing being ported over to pact of the blade, reworking was a must. The horror (Originally called the undead) I generally don't have to many issues mechanics wise, in fact it's one of my favorite warlock subclass, my only gripe is cause of how much if steps on the undying toes flavor-wise, speaking of which, the undying is possibly the subclass I had the most fun reworking, transforming it into a tanky summon focused as opposed to....Whatever the original was trying to accomplish.

Along with the revision of old subclasses, three new subclasses are included: The Arcanist, The Dragon and The Evergreen. The arcanist is a pact with a powerful being of magic (Such as an archmage) it allows you to learn wizard spells from your pact magic feature, manipulate your spellcasting and eventually imbue spells into trinkets, the dragon are for those that simply want blast their foes away, you can create bursts of draconic energy, absorb elemental energy and even assume the form of a dragon, lastly the evergreen is for those that couldn't decide if they wanted to be a druid or a warlock, allowing you to create a garden around yourself that damages enemies, alongside implanting magic seeds within your foes and protecting allies within your garden against spells, similar to an ancients paladin.

New spells

Because I like making more work for myself, a handful of new spells are available at the end of the document, so I apologize if they're a bit on the lower end quality wise, but I hope they'll be at least somewhat interesting.

it sucks that i have to say this but the dmc tag has a terrible reputation so: if you ship any of the relatives with each other, please go away, you are not welcome here. this includes shipping V with nero or dante, it just makes me uncomfortable.

my vergil is based only off of the games. i will be honest: i really disliked the 2025 netflix show. i am open to writing with characters from the show but my vergil will NOT be netflix!vergil and he will act like he doesn't know, say, netflix!lady. please be aware i will probably complain a lot about the netflix show ooc, i don't want to surprise anyone with that, i think the show is terrible and fundamentally misunderstands and misrepresents dmc.

i work full-time; this blog is low-med activity and may fluctuate a bit too. i WFH and am most active on my computer during my workday M-F. i am a private blog, meaning i only interact with mutuals (and the occasional anon ask), and i am selective with who i follow. i don't have tumblr mobile!

vergil is singleship with @/spirestar's oc cam. she is very important to my vergil's lore and i effectively treat her as canon. i recommend checking out the dossier page for vergil and @/spirestar's page for more info on their dynamic and how cam is important to his lore. i will try to keep things vague for people writing other dmc characters though (especially neros for obvious reasons lol).

if unspecified, threads take place post dmc5. his crossover verse assumes post dmc5 as well. in other verses his age is more dependent on whatever makes the most sense for the story.

this probably goes without saying as this blog is unaffiliated with an rpc but i am very open to verse-making and crossovers. ocs, i love you (just please have an about page). duplicates, i love you, i just may be a bit nervous to approach first.

i'm one of those people that sees V as an offshoot of vergil as a crystallization of his humanity, not a different person. so i will write him on this blog too, he just will feature more rarely. feel free to request writing with him though!

The Delightful Mansion screenshots Part 1

After the Uno residence, I collected screenshots of the Delightful Mansion for research and archive purposes. It wasn't easy. Since the show focuses on the KND, we don't get to see much of buildings other than the Treehouse. But I think I did my best.

For starter, shots of the exterior. The garden/front yard stays consistent but the surroundings not that much. In Op CAKE-FIVE, a road magically appears at the end of the episode when there was clearly nothing before. And the forest behind the mansion disappeared in some episodes too. I included the sliced mansion that shows the interior that will not be consistent at all. Consistency is not a thing in this show when it comes to background and building interiors. I mean the creators and animators aren't exactly architects, so it doesn't matter that much on the long term I guess. As a kid you don't pay attention to those details, but I certainly do as an adult now.

The first inconsistency is the entrence. There's two different ones and I know there is a back door, so the other might be from behind but something isn't right anyway and I'll explain later. This one is what I call the main/front entrence where it's maybe the most consistent in this messy house. It has small stairs after a few meters (yeah sue me) and the distance between the door and said stairs varies depending on the episode/need for the animators.

This is the second entrence that is drastically different from the first one. I kinda want it to be the back door, but for the first screenshot it's actually the front door in the episode Op FUGITIVE. This part of the house is back in Op PARTY, but it's not really used as an entrence, really just for a background. So at this point I might just headcanon the house can shapeshift like Father does.

Speaking of, we only see his study/office in Op INTERVIEWS and it's a shame because I really like this room. In fact, I wish we could have seen more of the mansion. Father also has this stereotypical *supervillain room* with spikes for no reason and an armchair where he can spin it dramatically just for the sake of being dramatic. I love this garbage man so much. It's quite hard to situate the rooms but his study would be on the third floor (fourth for my american followers) that's between the two candle shaped towers or whatever that is. In fact, I'm not sure if I can actually situate anything since there's a lot of inconsistency so trying to make sense of it would be a waste of time. Shame. I like having an actual map of where I'm standing, blame Zelda games for that.

There's two vastly different kitchens, and I'm pissed about it. One is clearly inside the house while the other has windows to look outside. Proof they are not the same actual room. The one on the right could be the cellar but it has kitchen instruments and literally cooking pots, so I don't know what to think about it. Moving on.

This room is confusing as hell. Why does it have so many windows where it's clear the ground floor isn't just this room. The mansion is also a square shaped house, so it's not like it's a castle with a long pavilion where this could be possible. Anyway, this seems like a living room? kinda? I'm just gonna call it the piano room since there's a piano there. Fancy rich people kinda do have a room just for classical music and shit. Ben isn't an exception.

And with this, I reached the 30 pictures limit per post, so I have to make a second part. Good to know. Some pictures of the hallways and it's interesting to see that there's different wallpaper. Maybe it's a different one for the different floors? Also, Ben has a huge picture of himself hanging in his house. I could have forgiven this narcissistic behavior if it wasn't for the fact that he also has a bust of himself. Sorry, it's over the top in my book. There's other hallways but they're just simple ones with many many doors so I didn't think it was worth adding to the list.

5- Umbra isn't the best example of a good person, he's just not lawful enough for that

6- Scarlett can use chaos-related powers and summon any weapon, while Umbra inherited a lot of Black Doom DNA from his father, so he has those... alien abilities and can turn invisible (since Amy could turn invisible at some point in Sonic history)

7- Scarlett's best friends are Sapphire (Knuckouge fankid, she's a light red echidna) and Breeze (Taiream fankid, she's a two-tailed yellow and brown fox)

8- Umbra's best friends are Quartz (@reinafish Espilver fankid, lets say it's a bridge between AUs), Platinum (Knuckouge fankid, he's a pristine white bat) and Tycho (Taiream fankid, he's a cream colored rabbit)

9- Umbra and Tycho do a lot of inventions and technological products together, Umbra gets the programming part of those projects while Tycho gets the mechanical part

Happy Munday! Just a few quick things, plus some cosplay photos from a recent convention (under the cut, in order not to clutter the dash with OOC content).

I am still accepting starters for this starter call! I'll close the call on Saturday, November 18. Until then, I will not have a cap on starters beyond writing one per mun/blog. That said, I've finally had some time to look at my cell phone photos of my costumes from my last anime convention. I'm still waiting on photos from my private photoshoots, but in the meantime, I'll share a costume I haven't posted here yet. I predict some of you may recognize her (hi Bubblez!).

Did you know that I've either played or watched my husband play both AI: The Somnium Files games (because watching me try to play through the somniums is a stressful experience for everyone involved)? Now you do!

Actually, I've had my Boss costume for about a year now and I haven't been in a happy place with it until last month. Admittedly, my dress is a bit oversized after I lost weight and I need to take it in in a few places before wearing it again. That's the only thing that has stopped me from doing a private photoshoot with Boss.

In any case, she was my favorite out of the games and one of the very few (maybe only?) character I cosplay as who is older than me. How is this woman in her forties? I thought I had amazing skincare and genetics but Boss is on another level.

The jacket and gloves are both leather, with the dress made of a cotton/poly spandex and the boots being custom pieces that I ended up repainting to be a closer match to my jacket. The Ai-balls are from Lemon Penguin, who loves Uchikoshi games and produces a few Uchikoshi-related items to vend at conventions (and they conveniently end up at the cons I attend!).

But let me say: I love this wig so much. It was a custom piece after I was hating my own styling attempts, and comes with her 'hair donut' ponytail holder, her slicked back tendrils, and a stubbed ponytail that keeps the weight of the tail and wig lighter on my head. When I get a professional shoot of this done, I definitely want more shots of this incredible wig from the back.

And finally, the AiTSF cosplayers I've met at conventions have all been so friendly and kind! I had to miss the photoshoot this time around but I participated at one at a previous convention: we were a small group but we were mighty. Even if we either weren't recognized or called by some other character name (I get Misato Katsuragi in this one quite a lot. Ironic, as I also have a Misato costume).

jeremy — the sunshine to his grumpy, preferably someone who takes what he's researching seriously which takes him aback.

kellan — exes to lovers, someone from the peak of his criminal days who he loved so dearly but now they're both trying to be 'reformed' and should probably stay away.

luther — weird strangers meeting on the road and there’s a sudden spark, would absolutely prefer if she was a little crazy cause he’d be into that. could be just intense or a murder, we don’t mind

mason — give this man a wife to worship. would love to explore the criminal stuff with his family and the angst of keeping their family safe. also would love there to be babies.

moira — a journalist or detective she comes across working the same case in a small town, they clash and also probably bang cause that’s fun.

Chapter 42 - Message Memory.

-----Andy's point of view----

Andy: I was sitting alone in the darkness, it was a cold crisp night, a few days after the news about the mate bond I now will share with Evan. Things had been weird the whole day. Evan had been very relieved after the news of the bond, well all of us had. But at the same time he had also grown more nervous. Nervous of what news Akin and the clan will find when they start digging around to try to figure more on the matter. The past two hours he had gotten really drunk, and started crying a lot, it had just gotten too much for me, seeing him like that, so Congo and Daniel had offered me to keep an eye on him, and try to sober him up a bit, if I were to go take a small walk. Getting some air. Clearing my head. So here I was, about 100 meters above our house, looking down at it. I loved this little look out post above us, and often went up here for a smoke when I needed a little time for myself. It was a nice opportunity to be alone, without really being alone. If that makes sense. Without the commitment so to speak. From here I could look through the windows, and easily see people move around inside the living room and parts of the kitchen was also visible. I could see people move around, but they couldn't see me here in the darkness. Kinda a little spy-like, I chuckled cheekily at the thought, then returned to scrolling my old messages in my phone. I had been doing this the past 10-15 minutes. Reading old messages between me and Evan from back when we started having something together. It was nice and warming, looking back at how it all started. Like this one message:

January 7, 2015. Andy: Are you still awake?

Evan: Yes?

Andy: I want you but like just laying in bed… cuddling… naked skin against naked skin being close till we doze off

I remember how I used to want to be with him as much as possible, afraid he might just disappear any second. I easily remember how hard it was to keep hiding. Especially after we moved into the new house! Evan lived next door with Daniel at that point, but he came over almost every night anyway. Well, when he had the guts at least. He was still somewhat trying to deny things, not fully having the courage to commit to them. So there were always a lot of sneaking around. Which in some ways could be hot and exiting too. But most of all, I just wanted to be near him. I just wanted him to let his guards down.

January 11, 2015. Evan: Hey… I apologize for earlier… don't wanna call and ruin more of your day… I just wanted to apologize for interfering with your couples weekend. Sorry. Hope you both are having a good time.

Andy: Hey, please don't apologize. We are both okay with it. Really don't worry about it, it happens for the best ;) How are you feeling?

Evan: Thank you. Uh, I don't feel so good. Very sick in my stomach, it seems.

Andy: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that :/ still hungover or is it something else?

Evan: Gas I guess, mainly. Gives me a lot of trouble since it doesn't seem to want to get out…

Andy: :/ sucks for sure! Is there anything I can do for you?

Evan: Nah. It will pass eventually. Just sucks to be alone when feeling "sick". You didn't post any pictures today? You know, in those folders you always post in?

Andy: Yes, I can imagine all too well. Wanna come over? And no, I didn't… spent my whole day with Congo :)

Evan: I don't wanna intrude. I hope you two had fun?

Andy: I can barely walk! :P I'll throw some pics together for you, but then I'll go to bed. Congo is already sleeping. He has work early in the morning… at freaking 7!!!! He has to get up at 6!!!! >:(

Evan: You don't have to. You are too sweet. Go to bed. Get some rest :)

Andy: Nah… gotta eat a bit anyway, I'm hungry…

I remember how he loved the pictures I used to post in my random folders, well I still do that. But back then I used to post a lot more Yaoi than I do now. He rarely admitted that that was one of the main reasons he was looking forwards to new pics almost every night. Well that, and the fact that maybe he could get to know more about my likes, and that way feel closer to me. It was very transparent, but I shut up about it and enjoyed it in silence. After all I didn't want to scare him off.

January 18, 2015.

Evan: I miss you.

Andy: Then come over silly :P

Evan: No. I just wanted to tell you. I think you and Congo deserve some alone time.

Andy: Congo is on and off the phone for the past 4 hours, trying to salvage what he left at work yesterday, when he hurried home to me. He assures me things are going to be fine, there's just a lot of mess to clean up. Sigh. I was thinking to watch a movie and cuddle…. wanna join?

Evan: No, I'm tired, I think I'll just go to bed for the night. But thank you for the offer. I don't wanna intrude. you need time alone…

Andy: Please? Its the perfect weather for cuddling. I'll even throw in some hot chocolate and marshmallows? Or how about an Irish coffee or 2? Think about it… Daniel will come back tomorrow evening, and then its back to stalking us… and we wont be able to spend as much time together. You will have to stay more around him again, take care of him and so on… and Congo and I will go on vacation soon…. for a week or two….

Evan: Thank you. But I think its better I stay here. Tell Congo I said hi, and that he should be in bed with you instead of hanging on the phone. I'll stop by tomorrow around noon… maybe we can have late breakfast together, or do something, go somewhere… we will see. Good night Andy, sweet dreams :*

I both loved and hated how insecure he was back then. Let's face it, it was damn cute. But also painful that I couldn't be with the man I loved. I missed him so much all the time, and was so afraid he would change his mind any minute. So I just wanted to spend as much time with him as possible, before it would all be over again. It was hard. Very hard. But it was also hard for him.

January 25, 2015. Evan: Andy, can we talk?

Andy: Yes? You want me to come downstairs?

Evan: No, please stay up there… I might lose my nerves…
