WALSH: Number 1, Adam Benák. There was recently a profile on him written in The Athletic. Probably the fastest player in the Draft this year. The most skilled player in the Draft this year. This kid is an absolute phenom, and I am not exaggerating.

He broke the record for the most points ever scored at the Hlinka. Over 2 years it was something like 20-some-odd points. He had 6 points in 3 games at the Under-18 World Championships.

He played in the USHL this year with Youngstown (Phantoms). He was a finalist for Rookie of the Year. He was named to their second, he was named a Second Team All-Star.

And the one knock on him is he's about 5'8.

🏡 House Fairies

House fairies reside in and around the home. They are usually small, hiding from humans in nooks and crannies and forgotten places - and will get stuck between the couch cushions. They come out when the coast is clear to make mischief: rearranging trinkets, pilfering snacks, turning up the corners of carpets - all heinous behavior!

Their own dwellings are not to be trifled with, however. They’re of the utmost coziness, warm and safe and full of . . . ‘collected’ goods . . .

🕸️ Dark Fairies

Dark fairies dwell in the domains of shadow - in fairytales with unhappy endings, in childrens’ nightmares, under the surface both figuratively and literally speaking. They rejoice in sowing discord and causing mayhem, and shun the light. These are your ‘Unseelie’ equivalents.

Example concepts:

A murderous moth fairy poised to strike

A hag-like fairy offering a bargain one can’t refuse

A gaggle of tooth fairies

👑 Courtly Fairies

Courtly fairies are those who spend most of their time between lavish palace walls, voluntarily or otherwise. Towering spires, silkspun sheets, all wreathed in swirling gold filigree - a fairy court makes itself known for miles around. Most other fairies consider them the least carefree, though every once in a while a monarch does crop up who rules the land with wild abandon, whipping all fairykind into a frenzy for a decade or fifty. 

As an aside: dark fairies enjoy courtly fairies as particular targets for their curses, twisting their beauty and opulence into ironic reflections.

🌆 City Fairies

City fairies have bid the splendors of the fey adieu for the neon-splashed fast lanes of a human metropolis. Usually, they try to (more or less) blend in, bask in humans’ energy, break their hearts and leave them wondering how you do that thing you do. Little city fairies exist, too, trying their best not to get crushed underfoot as they go about their busy lives!

A raver fairy stealing the show in a color-soaked warehouse

A mundane-looking fairy creating otherworldly pastries with the help of some friends

A fairy guardian of some public property

🔥 Wyld Fairies

Wyld fairies are closest in essence to magic itself, to nature and those primordial forces they let flow through them: the elements. They eschew court-made laws, borders, customs, and causes, simply forging their own paths through life with little consideration of worldly issues. They are bright like fire, deep as water, free as the wind.

A seahorse (or, ‘kelpie’) herding underwater-fairy

A fairy exploring the edge of the upper atmosphere

Dongho:

man. he is absolutely riddled with guilt. that is not even an understatement one of the only times he cries is because he FEELS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT’S HAPPENED TO JAEWON. i need to like. shake him by the shoulders or pput him in a blender or something.

yeah anyways that doesn’t go away post-canon. like at all. if anything i think it gets worse! one BIGGG reason for this imo is that dongho would very much take the mental stance of “nothing physically happened to me, so therefore i am fine” and just. act like he’s fine. even though he is #losingit !! he would be the last to start going to therapy for this exact reason.

I think he personally holds himself responsible for a lot of what happened in canon, mostly because of the fact that he was the one to find out about jaewon’s scandals first, he was the one to do something after the saesang break-in, but also he was the one who was a bystander when anything happened to the others. he had to see daejae in the hospital, jaewon seemingly getting hurt by their management, and also minsoo immediately after the break in??? it’s responsibility because he didn’t (couldn’t) do anything, whereas the bridge is more like. responsibility because he thinks he was the main reason/deciding factor for jaewon.

also. i do suspect that someone Probably got a video or at least a photo of dongho kicking jaewon out of the group. they were in public when that happened. i suspect if it did exist, it would get released pre-redebut and any backlash towards dongho would mostly get settled by that tell-all interview (dongho would likely address it/explain his thought process) and they’d be close enough post-canon that people. probably wouldn’t make too much of a deal out of it after the interview? but i do believe that in general, some people would legit blame dongho (and the others but we’ll get to that) for “not noticing” or “not doing anything” about the truth behind wyld. definitely not enough to completely trash his reputation, but enough that he’d be aware of it.

mostly due to everything already discussed, I think dongho would have the worst sleep schedule in mayhem post-canon. just kind of a clusterfuck of insomnia/nightmares/probably telling the others they can come to him if they can’t sleep. a lot of dongho not sleeping well would be. mostly guilt related imo? i do think he’d just generally have a lot of nightmares about the bridge/the news broadcast of that/other related stuff (idk. jaewon’s funeral. that sorta thing.) and as a result, would check on jaewon A Lot at night. he’d probably say he’s just checking on Boba or something, but it’s mostly him making sure jaewon’s where he’s supposed to be (in bed) and hopefully asleep.

so like. dongho’s just kinda tired post-canon. definitely naps a lot (cue old man jokes from minsoo), insane coffee consumption, all that jazz. he and jaewon probably wind up spending a lot of late nights just sorta. hanging out when their horrendous sleep schedules somehow line up.

they get along well post-canon, dongho has absolutely apologized a few dozen times (and jaewon’s definitely forgiven him/told him he doesn’t have anything he needs to apologize for), and I think they’d wind up with a duo single (if not a mini album).

this next thing is more my variety of headcanons that consist of a somewhat insane reach away from canon (and are somewhat based on my experiences/wanting to make my fav characters like me (🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈)) so please just like. disregard if you don’t agree LOLLL

there are obviously a lot of reasons why dongho would generally look more at ease/happier as LiT goes on, but I am still going to draw a connection between that and the fact that his hair gets longer throughout the series. a lot of his character arc in season 2 is loosely framed around him going after his own dreams instead of what his parents want/expect from him, but the important part there to me is that he still held himself to their expectations for like. a while. he did need a push to persue his dream (jeongmin buying him the plane ticket to seoul), and i don’t see why that wouldn’t also be applicable for other areas where he maybe is still following expectations that aren’t really want he wants for himself, even unconsciously so. it’s never outright said if dongho starts growing his hair out because he just wanted to or if the stylists suggested it, but i wouldn’t be surprised if it was the latter, mostly because there is very little other change made to his wardrobe (on or off stage) while still at HCE. he only starts wearing more gender-nonconforming/androgynous clothing when he’s under SHC, aka when mayhem get new stylists, but his hair is still long. it stays long over their hiatus. obviously men can just. have long hair and wear androgynous clothing, BUT. it would not surprise me if dongho has some sort of suppressed gender/sexuality crisis going on. i say suppressed because while he seems to be very chill about the styling, he’s not incorporating it into his personal wardrobe. the hair is a bit more deniable (or even a bit safer) and that is the thing that he keeps over their hiatus. no one pressures him to keep it. and OOOHHH kang dongho i know what you are. actually i don’t his gender is lowkey an enigma to me and probably to him as well!! i definitely think he would keep growing his hair and slowly get a more androgynous wardrobe, i dooooo think. that minsoo would likely pick up on some things. they’re like. absolutely still roommates (i think) so if anyone’s going to notice it’s minsoo. i really don’t think dongho would talk about it to anyone in mayhem though! slight tangent: i do think that despite probably having beef with him, dongho and minseok would get along well eventually. dongho would talk to minseok about it all for sure. minseok would keep that secret like his life depends on it. while i don’t have like. a nice way to tie this all off, it really does play a big role in how i interpret/write dongho (specifically post-canon) and it REALLY does become prevalent in some fic(s) i have planned. he is very queercoded to me though, and i do in fact think he has feelings for minsoo. that is all.

long time no see my uni professors want me dead and i want to write fanfic so here’s the start of a thread of character analysis/headcannons about post-canon lost in translation

Jaewon:

ok first things first this guy goes through so much head trauma in canon what the fuck is up with that?? i don’t feel like verifying all the occurances right now but off the top of my brain i count four different times (ceo park literally stomping on him, jaewon hitting his head on a door knob (and yes rhat is mostly humor but also im counting it), jaewon hitting his head on the floor of the club (club situation with minseok and dae), ceo park hitting him over the head with glass bottle AND stomping on his head (two for one combo)) and as far as i recall, jaewon doesn’t specifically get treated for head trauma in any of these situations? yes he gets hospitalized twice, once with a visible bandage on his head, and while i can understand not wanting to get super medical i am also just like 🤨🤨🤨🤨 someone check him for a concussion please???

so i know this sounds insane but keep the previous stuff in mind: i honestly to god think he’s got a TBI (traumatic brain injury)/some sort of brain damage by the end of season three, and my main reasoning for this is his behavior in the episodes when he is hospitalized/leading up to the trial. YES he has dealt with a lot mentally by that point and that could also explain his behavior, BUT!!!! his behavior in those episodes (specifically when he snaps at daehyun) just feels. off. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH THEY ALSO LINE UP WITH SOME SYMPTOMS OF A TBI!!!! specifically behavior/mood related symptoms but yeah the point still stands. He’s irritable and i’d even say a bit aggressive (behavioral symptoms) but he also seems to be swinging between being angry to anxious/lonely to just straight up apathy (specifically during the bridge scene.) which are all common mood-related symptoms. FURTHERMORE. he is back to normal (basically) at the trial, and many of the symptoms mentioned are like. shorter term symptoms? so. TBI is definitely a possibility and a very likely one in my opinion bc ceo park kinda fucked him up ngl!!!!

anyways. the headcannon that comes from this. spiel of medical stuff. ok the headcannon is that jaewon has a TBI, but more specifically there are long term symptoms of those, A LOT OF WHICH DO NOT WORK WELL WITH BEING AN IDOL. given that he does redebut with mayhem and there is no mention of him having severe medical repercussions, i have sorta cherry picked things that like. make sense but also still Theoretically let him be an idol?? anyways here we go:

i think that post-canon, jaewon would likely still have issues sleeping (partly due to like. stalker trauma, partly TBI), but I also think he would end up with some form of chronic migraine situation/sensitivities to light & sound AND I KNOW YOU’RE THINKING “HOW DOES THAT WORK WITH BEING AN IDOL” well lemme explain.

- CEO Choi (SHC’s CEO & MAYHEM’s new CEO) seems to be like. very willing to pull strings and just generally help his idols/models? just from what we’ve seen he really does seem to care about MAYHEM :’) and i really do think he would like. ensure MAYHEM have an altered promotion schedule/whatever else is needed if the options are having jaewon be able to be in the group or not having him promote when he wants to be with the group.

- as someone who has dealt with chronic migraines! yes they suck but 1) you can. sorta self manage a lot of stuff? (i.e. sunglasses/hat for light sensitivity, headphones/earplugs for noise sensitivty) and there’s a point to which you can just. deal with it? not optimal but tbh you don’t always have a quick fix. THERE ARE SOME EXPERIMENTAL THINGS OUT THERE THOUGH!!!! i got a daith piercing (not officially considered a cure but it did work for me), and a more researched option are these red/pink tinted glasses?? i haven’t had to try them but. jaewon would kinda rock some pink sunglasses. SO THE TL;DR is that there are options, i absolutely think jaewon would find a way to be active with MAYHEM, and more than likely he (and mayhem) would have more rest days/rest periods built into their promotion schedules.

THE SECOND THING: jaewon’s reputation post-canon. i do think he would end up doing some sort of exclusive tell-all interview (likely with a magazine/newspaper instead of a recorded interview?) prior to redebut. mayhem would likely also get interviewed for it, both to confirm some parts and to just reiterate the fact that they didn’t know what was going on???? at all??? so between that and the lewsuit (and HCE being bought out), I do think it would generally be received as the truth and mayhem/jaewon’s names would be cleared.

I do honestly think jaewon would end up being one of the most popular members, if not the most popular. part of this is previous fans of his coming back, part of it is just that he sort of has that it-boy factor??? (handsome + cute, dyed hair, is close to and is supporting his family, sorta tragic backstory) BUT ALSO. AND THIS IS A KEY POINT OF IT. he would absolutely say that he took on the wyld reputation For Mayhem. a side effect of that (not completely/necessarily a bad one?) is that he would sort of become a martyr-type figure to a lot of fans. very much in a “oh he took on so much hate for them to get their chance” type of way. some people would obviously take it too far, but generally he would kinda be given a break by kpop twt 😭 (also like. duh. the whole bridge situation.) very little hate towards him, i do think a lot of people would probably kind of pity him a bit??? (even more so if he did end up being open about any ongoing physical/mental health stuff) and his photocards would cost so goddamn much. HCE-era jaewon photocards or a downpayment on a car, you decide.

but yeah post-canon jaewon? adored and can do no wrong in mayhem twt’s eyes. they are right.

Chapter One: The Wyld Incident...

Jaewon yawns and opens his eyes, rolling over in his bed. It’s been a week and the anonymous texter hasn’t responded to his “Who are you?” text he sent after the short picture message that was sent to him. He looks at his cellphone and sighs, not seeing the unknown number in any of his recent texts. Jaewon sits up, standing straight. He raises his hands yawning again and stretching. As he does, there’s a ding from his cellphone, as if on cue. Jaewon chokes, stopping mid-stretch. He quickly slides over to the side of his bed and eagerly opens the new text message. Low and behold, it was from the same number. “I’m sorry I didn’t respond right away. You must have been anxious.” Jaewon cocks an eyebrow. They were worried about him? They weren’t some stalker, were they? “I’m sure you want an answer, but I can’t tell you who I am or how I know everything I do.”

Jaewon scowls. “Why?” He texts back. “How did you get that photo? And why tell me you have it?”

Elsewhere, a mysterious hooded person frowns. They look up at their computer. They begin typing. “As to how I got the photo. I can’t tell you.” Jaewon tsks seeing this. When his phone dings again he glances down and his jaw drops. “But I’m telling you because I want to help you. Like you helped me.” Jaewon’s eyes lit up… He helped this person at one point? He rubs his head, tussling his deep red hair, puzzled at who this could be. “I promise to try my hardest to help you out of this without making Mayhem suffer.” Jaewon gasps. He stares at the message in awe. An admiration crept in him over that message. That was all he cared about in this. The reason he was worried about this person knowing the truth. He purses his eyebrows.

“What’s your name?” He texts them.

The person messaging back inhales sharply. It was so tempting to tell Jaewon everything. Why they were doing this. What their name is. What Jaewon means to them. They exhale a long breath and begin typing. "Call me E."

Jaewon cocks an eyebrow at the letter name. "'E'🤨??" He texts back. "But I need more than a letter…" He says aloud. He doesn't type it and instead, texts something back. "What's your favorite animal?"

E stands straight and stares at the monitor. "Huuuuuh?!" "My favorite animal? Why?"

"Just tell me."

They tsk before typing in their answer. "Don't laugh. My favorite animal is a mouse." Jaewon smiles before laughing a little.

"Mouse, huh?" He says to himself. He texts back. "Mice are cool.😎"

"You laughed, didn't you?😑"

"Yeah. A little,😁 lol." He then clicks on the cellphone number. He taps "save as contact" and he saves the contact as "E🐭". He screenshots it and sends it to E. He doesn't know why, but he felt he could really trust them. Although he desperately wonders why they're bothering to even help him. Jaewon hears the phone ding.

"Lol I like it." Jaewon smiles.

E smiles now, too. They sigh and then scowl, flipping tabs on their monitor screen and pulling up a CCTV view. It's inside High Class Entertainment HQ. And in the CEO's office no less. (Mr. Park… )They think to themselves. (You'll get what's coming to you… I swear it.)

The next day…

E stares at the photo on Twitter. (This picture… was taken inside Jaewon's apartment! How?!) They swallow hard, tabbing out and opening up Twitter. They click on the profile. It's set to private. Of course. E searches for more results on the internet. There was nothing. Just the many pictures of Jaewon as Wyld, fancams, and Wyld focus videos at Mayhem's concerts. They pull up their Messenger. “Jaewon, that picture is suspicious.” E texts. “Please text me.” An hour passes and E grows restless. "Jaewon, are you ok?" There's no response. E frowns. Another hour passes. "Hello? Jaewon?"

E readjusts the black medical face mask on their face, fussing with their hood. They watch as D.Min helps Jaewon into a sleek black car. No doubt belonging to Kang Dongho himself. A patrol officer is there, seeing them off. As D. Min gets into the car, the officer waves. When the car pulls out of sight, E strides up to catch the officer.

He was about to enter his vehicle when he noticed E. "Woah! I have a friend who lives in this building. What happened here?" E asks. The patrol officer cocks an eyebrow at E.

He glances at the young lady, handcuffed in the back of his cruiser, sobbing. "Wyld~~~!" She shrills. E scowls, pulling the face mask from their face. When the officer sees this, he softens his expression.

"A piece of work, this one. She broke in and kidnapped one of the tenants here." He says. "I can't tell you the full details. But if I were you, I'd make sure your friend is safe.” E’s eyes widen. “Make sure you tell your friend to be more careful from now on.” E gives a slight bow. “Thank you, officer.” When the cruiser drives away, E looks over to the doorway of the apartment complex. E walks over to the door of the apartment complex. They look around to make sure no one was around, before dialing the code in. The door unlocks. E opens the door and walks in.

Jaewon sighs, slumping down into the covers D.Min lent him. He frowns, turning on his side and hugging his pillow. He then glances at his cell phone. “That’s right…” He says to himself. “I turned it off after everything that stuff happened…” He hits the power button. After a few seconds, the phone lights up. And as soon as it does, the multiple dings scare him. He swipes the phone open and sees how many messages he has from a certain someone. “What?! Fifteen text messages?!” He scrolls through the texts with a surprised expression stuck to his face.

“Jaewon, that picture is suspicious.”

“Please text me.”

“Jaewon, are you ok?”

“Hello? Jaewon?”

“Pls tell me ur ok!”

“Jaewon. Someone might be in your apartment!”

“Pls txt me!”

Jaewon blinks wide eyed at the concerned messages. Then the final text makes him sit up quickly. “What the-?!”

He stares at the text. A bead of sweat rolls down his cheek. “I’m on my way over! Please be okay!” E was on their way over?! But this was an hour ago… They could be gone by now. Jaewon looks around to see if D.Min or his butler was anywhere near. He swallows hard before inhaling sharply. “E. I’m okay now. I’m sorry I didn’t see your texts.”

E sighs a big sigh in relief, walking home. They lean against the wall of a building. The worry melts into relief and they slide down the wall to squat a little, texting back. “OMG! THANK GOD AND ANY OTHER GODS THAT EXIST!” They text back in all caps. “Jaewon, are you hurt?! Nothing happened, did it?” Jaewon felt his breath catch in his throat. The thought of what happened makes his heart beat faster. His body trembles and he purses his eyebrows. E takes the silence as a bad sign. “You don’t have to tell me.” Jaewon is surprised at that. “I’m just happy you’re okay.”

Jaewon stifles a trembling inhale. “Me too.” Jaewon texts back. “Can I call you?” E chokes. They stare at the message. (He… wants to call me?) E begins to text. Before they could respond with their response of “not a good idea” the cell phone dings again. “Please?” E closes their eyes. They sigh and open up an application on their phone. They click on Jaewon’s number and swipe “call”.

Jaewon hears the cell phone ring and quickly answers. “Ah… hello?”

There was a long silence that made Jaewon a bit anxious. And then… “J-Jaewon…” Jaewon’s eyes widen a little. He felt a familiarity in the voice. He swears he’s heard this voice before. “Are you… sure you’re okay?” Jaewon chokes a bit, a trembling sob slipping from his lips.

“N-No…” He says, tears welling into his eyes. He’d tried to hold it back. But hearing someone else other than D.Min ask him that after everything had happened… It made him overflow with emotion. E gasps at the sound of Jaewon’s sniffles. “I… was so scared…” E frowns and purses their eyebrows.

“I’m so sorry you had to go through that…”

“I…” He sobs quietly, trying to avoid having D.Min or his butler hear. But E can still hear him. “I’m sorry.”

E sits down on the pavement. “Why are you apologizing, Jaewon?”

He wipes his eyes gently with his hoodie’s sleeve. “I don’t know.” Jaewon says.They both don’t say anything for a few moments while Jaewon collects himself. “There was a fan that found their way into my apartment.” E scowls. (WHAT?! That’s crazy!) E thinks. “She put a tracker in a gift she gave me at one of Mayhem’s Fansignings to find out where I live. And then she installed a camera to get the keycode to my apartment.” Jaewon hears E breathing unsteady on the other side. (I should have known this could happen.) “She ambushed me and tied me up threatening me with a knife from the kitchen.” E closes their eyes.

“I’m sorry that happened.” E says. Jaewan can tell the voice was familiar, but can’t place whether the voice was male or female. The voice was very androgynous, and despite Jaewon trying to focus on their tones, he can’t place the voice with a gender or a face. But he knew without a doubt he’d heard this voice before. But where? (At a fansigning or meet and greet for Mayhem? I can’t be sure… )“I… will try to prevent that from happening again…” Jaewon scowls a bit.

“Because you know where I live, right?” Jaewon asks. E freezes and can’t help but feel a bit nervous. How is Jaewon reacting to this? Was he mad? Skeptical? Suspicious? E stammers a bit. Jaewon sighs, letting it go for now. Call it exhaustion, or just his gut feeling that E wasn’t a threat, but he didn’t feel like pursuing this any further at the moment. “Are you still there?”

E stands up from their seat on the pavement. “Ah… no.” E replies. “I-I’m not. But I promise I didn’t go into your apartment. I just wanted to see if it was secure.”

“It’s fine.” Jaewon says. He pauses now. “E, can I ask you something?”

“Mm?”

“Why won’t you call me Wyld?” Jaewon asks. E bites their lip a little, tempted to answer. “You’ve only ever called me by my real name. You never use my Stage name. Why?” E doesn’t say anything. But Jaewon still waits for an answer. When E doesn’t answer Jaewon sighs again. “I get it… You can’t answer.” E looks down at their sneakers. Jaewon smiles, though he knows they can’t see it. “Please, be safe…”

E chuckles. “I should be saying that to you, Jaewon.” E says, fussing with their hood. Jaewon ends the call. He tiredly slumps back into the covers. He hugs the pillow next to him and wraps himself in the comforter. He scowls, frowning. He buries his face into the pillow his head was on and tries to sleep. Just around the corner, leaning against the wall of the hallway outside, D.Min puts a hand to his chin, deep in thought.

He’d heard the entire conversation… (Wyld can’t go back to his apartment. Not with everything that had happened.) D.Min thinks. (But… who was this “E” he was talking with just now? Do they know about what happened? They seem to know a great deal about him and then some.) D.Min cocks an eyebrow, peeking into the room through the doorway to see Wyld finally falling asleep. The most D.Min can see is his bright red hair poking from beneath the soft heap of comforter. It rises and falls slowly, relaxed with Wyld’s breathing. (Is it possible E knows all about the scandals he told me were “misunderstandings”? Are they trying to help him?) D.Min crosses his arms, a scowl on his brows. (Or are they just pretending so they can get close to him?)

Hi hi, lovelies! So I know it’s taken a while. But with COVID-19 and my lack of work and rollercoaster health concerns, I hope you all understand. So I took extra care to make sure this chapter was airtight and nicely done.

First things first, about this mysterious “E”, I am addressing them as “they” to keep the identity a secret. They are the original character I’ve hinted at previously and there will be more information about this character in the coming chapters. You’ll be learning about this character as the other characters do. I won’t be giving any hints or answers on said character. But if there are questions about this fanfiction anyone has, just let me know in the comments and I will work on answering them the best I can.
