As y’all know I’m really into Frankenstein the novel, and I can’t help but think about Re-animator through the lens of it being a Frankenstein adaptation. How it goes beyond being “masturbatory” story, as Frankenstein is, making a life yourself without a woman, to just straight up homosexual, two men making life together. How Victor Frankenstein doesn’t have a Dan, which by proxy doesn’t make Dan Herbert’s companion, (who you would think would be a parallel to Clerval,) but makes him his monster. That following the formula of the Frankenstein book, Herbert is making his creation a wife to satiate him. Fascinating!! Really twisting the dynamics from the book in such a way that I really love and is super thought provoking. Not only noting, but expanding, on the romantic themes between Frankenstein and the Creature. So interesting to me and I know I’ve seen a post about this before but we need to talk about it more. I also love that reanimator uses the “chemical process” science that is present in the book instead of the “shock of life” that most adaptions lean towards. And again just thinking about how the bride (the LITERAL creation) reacts to being rejected, which is so important in the book. The themes of autonomy, and rejecting god, and selfishness, that just really sing with the themes of the book. Anyway. It’s great yay ❤️

i only read komahina/kamukoma so you are only getting komahina/kamukoma recs BUT ! here are my favs

warm steel and cold hands is a postgame komahina fic, long time fav for me. definitely a quite wacky premise but the smut scenes are all skippable if youre not interested and its actually a really fluffy and cozy read. takes a far more wholesome approach then theoretical friction

i cant take you anywhere is a non despair komahina slowburn where they go on a road trip its suuper cute and fluffy. many shenanigans

defy you stars is a postgame komahina fic that id highly recommend if you liked theoretical friction, theyve defo got that same weird situationship going on. fluff and angst and also a shakespeare motif. if i had to choose a favorite fic out of everything ive read from any fandom it would have to be this one hands down it made me cry 3 times while reading

out for blood is a cute komahina werewolf vampire au. i read it every halloween

star stitches is a really good little kamukoma oneshot that makes me ill

unveiling is the first part of the hallowed be thy name series, despair era kamukoma. i havent read the series in a while because its on the darker side from my memory, but i do remember it having super good characterization (notably for izuru) and capturing the tragedy era feel perfectly. the best despair kamukoma slowburn ive read its got romantic arson and everything. you need to be logged in to read it if the link doesnt work

izuru kamukura’s cuddly toy is a classic nondespair kamukoma fic. as you can tell by the title it definitely took a more lighthearted approach lol. very cute and sweet if youre not into the constant feeling of impending doom that despair era gives. complete opposite end of the kamukoma characterization spectrum

i don't ship nor do I enjoy sonamy but I kind of understand how people find it appealing? childhood friends to lovers, the act of running away instead of facing feelings, one fell first but the other fell harder... but I just think that Amy deserves better than that?????

I love love love love Amy Rose and honestly as someone who, when I was around 10-12, never considered the fact that I could be queer despite being aware of queerness and who dealt with a lot of comphet and acted SOOO similarly to amy towards my guy friends because I just sorta thought that that was what I was supposed to do.... I'm 100% projecting that onto Amy. she's my comphet queen and she deserves someone who loves her, someone that she doesn't have to chase, someone that can reciprocate her feelings whole heartedly!!

I have sooo much stuff drafted out for sonic and Amy's relationship and the way it evolves over time... there may even be a 6 page comic about amy in the works
