#messy bench

It's a box! Or more accurately a box made up of minor mistakes. Been working on improving my dovetails and trying out some extra flourishes with the lid and base. It's kinda a mini version of the school box described in the Joiner and Cabinet maker. (Which incidentally,the full sized one is next on my project list.).

Overall the base moldings ended up a bit too wide so it looks a tad awkward. Also I didn't want to spend anymore time finishing it so it likely needs another coat or two of shellac.

Been working on a bunch of random projects recently and haven't really finished any of them... Got a nice make your own backsaw kit, been trying to get decent at saw sharpening, working on some jigs for making some stakes furniture, and been working on improving my hand cut dovetails. Also been reading some great books from Lost Art Press, the Anarchist Design Book and the Joiner and Cabinet maker have been adding tons of fun ideas of things to make.

Oh and I got a new tongue and groove plane, it's super fun.

mannn i still think the most disappointing thing about the barbie movie is how it had the bones to be such a good movie about accepting your human flaws and growing up and getting older and the harmful societal expectations of aging and how they affect women. and just overall a fun and touching commentary on being human through the eyes of a doll. but then they watered it down with facebook level muddy feminist writing and jokes about indigenous genocide. like what happened

Very messy doodle for Benchtober Day 1: Superheroes/Supervillains + "We make a pretty good team"

(Btw, Ranboo's mask is based on Ranboo's R800 model and Tubbo is wearing a gas mask, but the drawing is so tiny that I couldn't make those details clear)

For context: Ranboo and Tubbo are very new villains, only debuting a few weeks ago as a part of the villain organization the Syndicate. They were targeting a building that stored a lot of the Hero Association's data, so they were going to destroy it. Tommy just happened to be walking by and saw the duo trying to figure out the most effective way to destroy the building. Ranboo/Lethe wanted to be more subtle while Tubbo just wanted to randomly place a bunch of his handmade explosives. Tommy walked up to them, critiquing their very unorganized crime and offered to help. The villain duo was rightfully suspicious but hesitantly accepted the offer, much to Tommy's delight. Tommy would get to commit arson AND f### with the Hero Association, and he would also get to "hang out" with some pretty cool villains too. Tommy showed them the proper way to commit arson(because Tubbo would've ended up wasting a lot of explosives and Ranboo's plan wasn't very effective), asking if Tubbo/Cypher's had a chemical composition that was very flammable since the villain is known to have strange(and sometimes dangerous) chemical compounds and explosives/gadgets on hand. Cypher nodded and handed him the substance, and Tommy got to work, telling the other two where to put explosives in the most effective spots and what were the best kinds of places to put the flammable substance so that the fire would spread easier. After about 15 minutes of strategic placing, the trio stepped outside of the building and went a safe distance away. Tommy gave the cue to Cypher to detonate the bombs and it worked very well. Tommy was proud of himself, Tubbo was just excited to see a good explosion, and Ranboo did not expect it to be that effective and was honestly kind of concerned. After this, Cypher asked if Tommy would like to go with them back to the Syndicate's base and maybe work some kind of deal out where Tommy helps them with their missions in return for something. Tommy excitedly agrees :]

(I came up with this AU idea on the spot and now I've grown really fond of it. I might make this a new AU)
