Nathanael&Katrina Wissmann (Sahlstrom) announced baby #2

Papa Bill Bates passed away

Emery Jane was born to Jeremiah&Hannah Duggar (Wissmann)

Brandon&Michaella Keilen (Bates) announced they are fostering two boys, a toddler and a baby

Trace&Lydia Bates (Romeike) announced their baby girl will be named Kaia Rae

Chad&Erin Paine (Bates) announced their baby is a boy

They seem to be really invested in being good foster parents. I hope that if the kids are unable to be reunited with their biological family (kids are shown to do better with relatives in general, not just their parents), Michael and Brandon are able to raise them.

How crazy was it to go from 0 to 2 kids?

-m: fun, they’re used to babysitting. But it was hard not knowing what possible special needs the kids would possibly have (given the particular situation). B: the 3 yo is a people person and loves being with them, also bottle feeding an infant through the night and being sleep deprived

What was hardest/easiest?

-M: so many appointments was hard, but she still thinks it was a good thing everything was so thorough. Loving them is easy

Did you get help from friends/family getting stuff?

-M: the outpour of support was overwhelming, even though the kids placement was really sudden. There was even a virtual baby shower (to which I must say ????!!?)

Any possible of adopting the kids?

-M: they would like ”a permanent family” but everything is unknown and authorities are thinking foremost of what’s best for the kids. B: since they love the kids so much it’s hard to even think about it, because they don’t want to think about losing them and their bio family’s issues could theoretically be solved. They are trying to love without being possessive (which I thought was a really lovely stance to take)

Have you got the house set up? Room tour?

-M: yes, but no room tour because of the kids privacy (yay!)

Favorite thing about a big family?

-M: incredible support from a lot of people

Are the kids siblings?

-M: yes

Is baby sleeping though the night?

-M: baby was fostered at birth so no def not

Another q about adoption

-M: it’s not on the table rn, they are just loving every day they have them

Any new books from Brandon?

-B: has one in the works, but really busy rn given everything

Tips to feel at ease with fostering?

-M: they are a little too green to give advice, but she’s been reading a lot of stories from (now adult) foster kids and trying to do what they thought was good and not do what they thought was bad

Managing the trauma that comes along with fostering?

-M: a person in their life who was fostered (Whitney?) has been a good mentor and help. They’ve taken classes and read books. B: their toddler has improved greatly since they’ve had him

Why didn’t they think they were qualified to foster?

-M: they had been pursuing private adoption and had been told more would be required from foster parents (since an adopted newborn would likely be less traumatized than a fostered older kid)

Are you going to continue the adoption process that you had started?

-M: they are focused on they kids in their home right now. Having the kids is like heaven, but it’s heartbreaking about their past experiences. B: they aren’t thinking about anything other than today and enjoying the kids, giving them the love they need.

And then they talked a bit more about honoring the kids privacy and I respect that.

Okay literally I don't know where to ask this and it would amazing if fundblr could help me out. There's an earlyish episode of BuB in which Michaela is visiting from Chicago, and Kelly immediately asks her to help tailor some clothes (of course). She does a trick to adjust the waistband of some pants without sewing. Does anyone know this trick or the episode?

I don’t know off the top of my head, but someone here might! Can anyone help anon out?

Glad to hear this for them. Fostering isn't easy but it's necessary. Hopefully they support the fact that fostering is about reuniting with family if at ALL possible, even if not the parents. But adoption through the system also happens. However it works out, may it be for the best.

The Keilen's are fostering two little boys. One is 3 and the other is a newborn. They got the call from their church about the boys needing a home and the baby wasn't released from the hospital right away. I could be wrong, but I suspect the Mom may have passed during childbirth.

I'd be the happiest person alive if these kids stick but.. fostering is fostering. Doesn't mean forever sadly. Now fostering to adopt is different but where's the dad.. or the grandparents aunts uncle's etc of these kids.. they could fight for custody and get the babies. Fostering is a difficult thing.

Ok so she’s clearly not as stylish as her sisters and it’s been really quiet around her lately and obviously she and Brandon have terrible views (I think I’m just gonna stop with that disclaimer, we all know and it seems we all agree on this) - but I think Michael’s so pretty and much more importantly, I’m honestly SO excited for her to get her nursing degree, GET THAT EDUCATION GIRL!

OK so I have a new favourite Bates proposal and couple. I'd never seen Michaella and Brandon's courtship before but I watched it on season 2 of BUB these past couple of days and it was so sweet. I loved the way he did the proposal and Michaella i such a sweet soul. For some reason I never really liked him before because I got bad vibes from him but being able to watch him onscreen has changed my opinion.

I hope he truly appreciates every bit of her hips and butt cause omg 🤤😍 she’s got it going on down there..! 🙌🏻

I never really imagined Michael to be so PDA (I don’t want the show). At first I thought maybe they are suppose to stand in line like this but then the video zoomed out and John and Alyssa aren’t touching at all.

Nbd, I just saw her to be a very private person in all aspects of life🙈

This makes me happy. If she isn’t able to have babies of her own atm, it’ll be really good for her to be able to be around her young nieces and nephews that she adores so much!

Go Michael for going to nursing school! Honestly really happy for her - moving back near family and going to school will probably be great for them.
