honestly thank GOD danny does not have his powers available to him in WTNS because if he used them as Nightingale he would be terrorizing Gotham's nightlife with them. like nothing would change he'd still be emergency backup (by his own choice) but his psychological torment just went up by 20 degrees.

creepy ghost children are already a pretty big staple in horror games and movies, tons of scary games where the antagonist is a scary dead child. well!!! now that scary dead child is Nightingale! and you have his Bat! It's like I always say: 'nightingales should be heard and not seen'

(as reference to the fact that according to the british museum, nightingales are elusive and private creatures and tend to be heard more than they are seen)

imagine being a goon that successfully trapped the Bat and then some indeterminable minutes later you hear a gentle rapping at the window like a branch tapping the glass and you turn and there's just two glowing green eyes in the window. The eyes are shorter than you, you blink or yell or cry out and then suddenly the small shadowy figure is gone.

you hear a nearby window creak and groan, you turn and a window nearby is propped open just a sliver. its not the window you saw the eyes from, the sliver is too small for any human to come in. there are footsteps, soft and teeny, circling around you. you keep seeing a small figure darting around through the reflections of the window. the lights are flickering, something is whooshing up above you.

imagine seeing a black silhouette with only green eyes climbing in from the window -- except, you only see it in the reflection of a window and when you look behind you, where the figure should reliably be coming in from, there is nothing there. the window isn't even open. or worse, maybe it is. but just a crack.

Danny isn't there to dawdle, but in the time its going to take for him to release/recover his Bat, he is going to make it your problem. and your fresh new night terror and ten years paid therapy!

If I hypothetically wrote a short fanfic about Hob and Rue's wedding where the Lords of the Wing have put themselves in charge of planning, Binx gets to officiate, Andhera is Hob's best man and Wuvvy is Rue's maid of honor, Esme and Peep are invited and are not in the least bit disturbed by Hob's "I must go into scary goblin mode around humans" thing, Squak accidentally invites Rue's awful fey parents and that builds into a whole thing with Rue finally standing up to them and Hob all but challenging them to hand-to-hand combat, Binx catches the bouquet during the reception, and Hob and Rue decide to go to the Material Plane for their honeymoon so they can look for Rue's owlbear family...

You know, I was thinking about an idea I had then realized just how angsty it would be on one side and how much fluff it would be on the other and I'm curious about other people's ideas too ngl

So like, I was toying around with the idea of Shanon coming back to Gardenview and snatching up the loser lesbians and bringing them home with her to save from... Whatever happened. Shanon has no idea, she was never allowed to know, so she just has two VERY traumatized toons now. She'll know how to keep Shelly entertained and happy, she was ALWAYS with Shelly, but I highly doubt she'd know how to keep Vee in check at all.

Vee would probably quickly spiral into a mental crisis about it too, as now everything has been destroyed in her eyes. Nobody remembers her gameshows because they ended years ago, nobody remembers her because Gardenview closed years ago, nobody's interested in learning about her as she's outdated technology to them now. She'd be alone, only able to quiz Shelly now, but she's heard all her questions and knows all the answers by now. She'd probably start self isolating because she just doesn't know what to do with herself, lashing out at Shanon because she genuinely doesn't understand why people aren't fans of her anymore and wants to blame someone except herself. She would be such a wreck and probably have major beef with any new technology Shanon brings home because it replaced her in her mind. Vee is now just... Vee. She's not a celebrity any more, she's not loved by anyone except the toon handler who took her in and her now popular dinosaur girlfriend, and she would not have a clue what to do about it.

Shelly would most likely have the opposite problem, she looks like a living toon just wandering around like she's a common sight to see - of course people would notice! Kids would ask her about fossils and she'd happily tell them all about what she is and their minds would be blown by how much she knows, she'd probably be asked to play by kids who think she looks really neat and be dragged to the sandbox to 'fossil hunt' whenever Shanon takes them to the park. Shanon very much would hide plastic fossils in there too just to see Shelly smile, like she used to before her museum shut down. She'd be such an interesting sight to see that she'd get stared at, often asked what she actually is, and probably would be the talk of the town for a while. Eventually everyone would know that Shelly is just there to have fun, don't bother her too much, but at first everyone would be so shocked by a living breathing toon they'd swarm the poor thing! I'm sure Shelly would be just a little irritated by the constant unwarranted attention and stares, but so happy she's no longer forgotten.

Their roles would reverse is what I'm getting at here. It gives so much Vee angst to work with and Shelly comfort... I am brainrotting over this idea if that's not obvious

for the record. i think it's like. okay to be annoying. you're gonna be annoying sometimes. it comes free with being a human fucking being. it shouldn't be the end of the world when someone says "hey this thing you did kind of annoyed me. you don't need to stop doing it just know that I'm not gonna interact w it much" like. that seems like a reasonable thing to me. everyone (yes, even your friends) have pet peeves that sometimes you will set off. this is fine and it will not ruin a friendship unless you. like. make it a bigger deal than it needs to be, because thats when things tend to get ugly and bad. not everyone is gonna like everything you do and that's fine? not everyone has to be so enthusiastically hyped for things that you like. you'll never be happy if you start thinking like that.

spoilers for chapter 429

idk if you guys remember but ochako does have parallels with All Might, specifically as the side who saves. It’s not that he feels the same for them both or something like that, they serve to represent the type of heroism he naturally goes to; his friend is not his love interest, from his perspective she’s out there having a crisis over not being able to save her, and Izuku reminds her that she is a hero bc she is his hero -she saved him multiple times, and she should be able to feel like a proper hero.

This conversation is not about the nature of their relationship, is about heroism; Izuku relates to a conflict between being a hero who saves and failing to save someone, and doesn’t want to see Ochako ending spiraling because she couldn’t also fulfill that role as expected. She’s his hero not because he loves her romantically -he’s a nerd I’m sure he would be way more nervous and blushing if he was confessing anything he thought was romantic- but because she’s able to go and do what All Might does to Izuku, save him physically and emotionally.

He knows she hides her feelings in order to not be a burden, yet he doesn’t talk about his own feelings outside of his guilt in heroics -what does he feel about losing OFA? About his own failures? About the people he personally lost? He can’t talk for others and claim Ochako is everyone’s hero, but he can speak for himself, and that’s his personal perspective -she is a hero to him, she’s his hero. And then the class appears to make sure she’s able to get support and understand she’s not alone, and she’s important to them too.

but Izuku doesn’t get support. Izuku cries a little and talks a little about himself, but he doesn’t get supported. If this was meant to be romantic, I don’t understand why he would hold back what’s inside of him.

the end of the chapter reveals that boy is going to be helped by that woman who regretfully ignored Tenko, and they both witness it and are happy about it while hearing izuku inspired that change, and iida wonders what’s up with them -this is the conclusion to their relationship. In their hearts these two are saviors who struggle to be heroes who save others, and they are happy there are appearing more people who want to be heroes like them. Heroes who save. Save like All Might.

That grandma for example, interpreting the narrative as what I think is intended, would be that boy’s All Might; she’s his hero.

Izuku and Ochako are heroes who save, and Deku is here to remind her at least she did save him many times, that she is still a hero because she is his hero. I don’t believe is meant to be interpreted as romantic, not that Izuku sees that phrase as it neither -after all, he said he does want to be like All Might and feels good to imitate him, but he doesn’t love him.

Ochako’s All Might hair moment, the parallels with Toshinori telling him he can be a hero, the trying to save from black suffocating quirks, the we can do it and do your best…

So yesterday India bombed Pakistan and because of it the schools are closed and everything even though it didn't happen in my city and a few minutes ago I heard a huge banging noise and I thought I was gonna die but turns out some people had blasted fireworks really close to my house (someone must have been getting married or something) and they looked so huge from the window I think this is the first time I could see fireworks this large from home

speaking of mischaracterized main ships (see previous post), did you know? hananene is not all cute and fun. yes it is toxic too. even though its much healthier than whatever mitsuba and kou have going on they have some serious issues too, specifically in miscommunication. its a lot harder to mischaracterize hananene due to their loveable chemistry and more healthy nature, but i still feel like the unhealthy parts of it go majorly undernoticed and deserve addressing. i should do a small deep dive into that too, especially since this was my otp since i got into tbhk. okay im gonna go eat homemade mac and cheese and reread tbhk for the mtsk analysis, night.

I’ll never not be bothered that the most diverse TF show, Earthspark, seemed to be turned on by all the biggest and most well-known activists in the fandom… who like or have grace for things like IDW, TFP, and TF One. And the reasons these people hate Earthspark make zero sense at all, but it’s impossible to argue because I saw them harass people and send their big fanbases after people. I remember when one big-name fan engaged in harassing a Black woman for thinking Earthspark was good and that people should support the show? I’m still angry about this today. I’m sorry, but if you characters like the IDW or TFP Decepticons but do this it’s just embarrassing!

PSA you can dislike a show without claiming a show obviously pro-immigration is secretly anti-immigration or that a show that has heroes who are abuse victims in it is secretly vilifying abuse victims.

Michael should be a casual gamer I think. He doesn't have a lot of time for it, but he needs something he can do easily for purely his own enjoyment. It'd be funny if he liked sports games (the whole "comes home from (activity) to play (activity) video game" phenomenon), but I can see him genuinely liking rhythm games and maybe even some lighter rpgs (for escapism and some freedom of choice). Plus the rest of the gang can just hang out and relax while he plays, though I think Ed and potentially Jentry would be interested in playing with him too.
