i think the thing that most grinds my gears about the “jin guangyao HAS to be duplicitous and evil” crowd is the way they have to tie wei wuxian’s morality into it like a counterweight.

for some fans, it really seems like the only way that wei wuxian’s story retains any thematic or moral cohesion is if it can find its clear and unambiguous antithesis in everything jin guangyao does. because if you begin your argument with the thesis statement that “everything jin guangyao does is rooted exclusively in self-interested self-preservation,” and if you are positioning him as the representative of all that is morally bankrupt with the mdzs jianghu, it becomes easier to argue that everything wei wuxian does stems from selflessness and self-sacrifice.

don’t get me wrong, a story like this could still be very compelling. but it isn’t reflective of what is going on with either of these characters.

i wanted this video to be a really comprehensive dive into both leckie’s and sledge’s arcs, which meant including the particularly horrible parts of the war: namely the dehumanization of japanese people, the way the marines used that dehumanization to justify their actions, and how it eroded their own humanity in turn. as such, i included a lot of elements of the show that i wouldn’t normally put into a video and that i don’t often see in visual fanworks, so i wanted to content warn accordingly. this video includes (in addition to the usual canon-typical violence and discussion of ptsd):

im gonna start posting fanfic recs btw whenever i find good ones. both here and my (awfully barren) 18+ account. because there are so many good fics out there with so few hits and fewer kudos and sometimes no comments period and it SUCKS because i REALLY LIKE THEM A LOT.. and i hope that by linking them here and yelling at everyone to COMMENT DAMMIT they might actually do it

seriously though any comment means a lot. most people who read a fic don’t even give a kudos. even if the fic wasn’t top tier, if you didn’t dislike it, hand over some kudos!! and if you liked it, comment!!!! even if the comment is one singular heart emoji it will be appreciated. if the comment just says “great fic!” the author will be happy. your comment doesn’t have to be this long winded gushing or analysis.

so many authors quit writing or lose motivation because the comments are few and far in between or just sometimes nonexistent. trust me when i say authors don’t care about how long or cool or smart sounding your comment is i promise!!!

i hope that mmmaybe recommending fics and telling people to comment might help fics i really like get more support maybe. and i, points at you reading this, hope that you will listen!!!at least a little….at least sum kudos….

Do you think the finale episode of TBNW will come up with an original NC scene since they skipped the bigger ones already? Or is there one from the book they could still use? Also, it there’s no final NC, imma be pissed lol

There is so much to get through, I would not be too surprised if there is no NC at all...

There is still one NC from the novel they could technically use, but they might also save that for the special episode.

Honestly, the way the ep was cut, I wouldn't be surprised if the box set had the missing NC scene. It had everything leading up to it and cut right before it would have started.

That being said... Boss said they spent around 5 days filming NC scenes, and so far what I have seen... my professional opinion, as someone who has worked in TV for 11 years, is that what we have seen would probably be done in 3 days of filming or less...

on one hand im fully with people suggesting emulation in the wake of nintendos ridiculous prices But at the same time it is quite a bandaid fix.be-cause nintendo is rather known for bringing the hammer down hard on such things for one &for another not everyone has a pc powerful enough to even run that Because that also costs money (more money than a switch2 + games would cost even) ............ obviously im not vouching for buying a switch2 (i certainly wont be myself For i dont have the money) but i just find it crazy to see people touting that As a like why arent you doing this you should be doing this type thing. like that option is not available To most people brother
