I don't understand the concept of pro shippers and antis. Like I have some ships that are really problematic and some that aren't. Like I get people hating certain things like, I have certain things that I don't like. Am I weird though? For it? Cause I have some weird ships. Age gap doesn't really bother me. Especially if they fictional. Or like cartoon characters. In live action things I get if if the characters were actually kid actors. That I get. But most of the time I'm just shipping the adult actors with who their characters are playing am I making sense? Most of the time for cartoons and shows they usually have adults playing the characters. So why is it a big deal to write smut or other stuff? I don't know. Am I making sense or is their something wrong with me? Just all this pro and anti stuff just makes me paranoid and my ocd bad. Like am I bad? I don't see myself as either cause I feel lik it's broad a term.

I'm with you. These concepts didn't exist when I entered fandom. I'm still trying to figure things out.

All I know is that the phrase "these turtles are underage and brothers" is something I never expected to see with my own eyes from when the antishippers infested the Ninja Turtles fandom. I got accused of being complicit in pedophilia and threatened with a purging or whatever they thought would scare me. This is a fandom based on a parody, with animal humanoids that barely have human type biologies, let alone ones that can be compared to humans. Do you understand how ridiculous this sounds? I just typed it and I'm completely baffled.

From what I gather, the anti side is desperate for control over something, anything, and flailing for the flimsiest straws they can grasp. The pro side appears to be chilling, playing with fictional representations of the human (ish) condition, occasionally declaring little wars over which ship is better. Really fun analytical threads. Sometimes I feel squicked by a ship or a theme, so I stop reading.

And the neutrals - I guess that's me - are standing off to the side passing around popcorn.

In conclusion, I have no goddamn clue, but I'm here for the ride.

(But I will say this: I will write that poly smut fic one day and damned if a whiny threat from a miserable teenager halfway across the country will give me pause.)

Guuyys, I got the weirdest anonymous message regarding my TMNT fanfiction, so I need to blog about it for multiple reasons:

"Don't you know 2012 Mikey would never want to date a disabled girl, she can't skateboard or anything, why would u do that to urself, I mean Gaia is an awesome character but you keep saying you gave her cerebral palsy like yourself which means she couldn't be Mikey's girl, but maybe Donnie should have had her first? Just a thought, love your writing."

Ohh, so much to unpack here. I haven't responded yet. I'm considering my answer carefully. The person sounds very young and possibly ignorant without knowing.

Here in the Tumblr fandom there are a bunch of blogs about "you dating a Ninja Turtle" - mainly the 2014/16 movie versions - and they basically all state that Michelangelo would at least desire an athletic partner. This is lovely and probably very true. But headcanons are imaginative for a reason.

I never did plan on making Gaia into a lover, anyway. It literally was an accident. I wrote a chapter where she and Mikey were hanging out while he played with her hair and suddenly it went from there. Now, if you know the story behind "Cold Fire Rising" and its first sequel, you'll understand. If you're reading it all for the first time it'll be confusing. Someone writing the most athletic, optimistic turtle as permanently disabled? Really? Giving him a best friend who is even more disabled? That's bold as hell, huh.

So, Tumblr fans... How WOULD you headcanon a physically disabled human hanging with Michelangelo and his brothers in any version?

I feel like I need to apologize to the TMNT fans reading my fanfic waiting for new chapters and new oneshots. My health has been so crappy the last month. I love you people for messaging me on FF asking about my health and if you can help. I dunno, maybe? I love suggestions for plots and scenes. Several readers are really intrigued by "The Brightest Fire" and considering how I had to restart Chapter Two I bet I could use advice.

I am mostly focused on the stories for "CFR Mind Games" - I need to write more about Gaia and her family, the scientific data collected by Donnie regarding her psionics and how sex affects her. She's the first OC who may honestly be, um, an alter.

PS, I seem to have some form of multiplicity. It's not DID. I just came out on Facebook and no one is surprised. No wonder Gaia is an unofficial therapist to the Turtles. She is technically an unofficial therapist in my head space.

Also, Donnie turns out wildly Panromantic, somebody stop him, I think he writes fanfic about humans when he has insomnia.)

(I mean shutup I've been in this since before 2000 and we didn't have words for all this that I knew of, I have a lot of feelings. I love today where we have words.)

I really don't know why I'm so hecking skittish about sharing my OC information on Tumblr, especially the TMNT characters. Hell, Gaia actually has a few fans, and she accidentally turned into a lover for Mikey. Maybe because so many TMNT OCs exist for romance and I remember that I wrote "Ashes To Ashes" in the early 00s which died with Geocities thank gods and I'd been following the romance fic trend back then. It's not that Gaia embarrasses me, not at all, I just don't want her to be a cliche.

Headcanon:

gray-asexual aromantic Leo, panromantic demisexual Don, aromantic pansexual Raph, gray-asexual demiromantic April, pansexual genderfluid neurogender demiboy Mikey, trysexual panromantic Casey. Games of Twister are fun.

It took me a while to figure Raph out. To me, he’s not a bubbling cauldron of hormones as much as a nervous pupper needing solace. A reader once asked why Gaia and Raph only had sex in the astral plane since Raph was so physical, and I said that that the point - Raph didn’t want to hurt anyone, no matter how much Gaia assured him about her fibromyalgia and cerebral palsy. In the spirit plane they can be as kinky and intense as they want.

“Apriltello” always made me feel weird precisely because I always see April as on the ace spectrum when not paired with Casey. The reason she was with Casey was because Kevin and Peter didn’t want her with a turtle and the turtles were most likely asexual themselves. But that was Mirage, in the 1980s, and it’s the late 2010s now. 2003, 2012, and IDW have shown that Donatello had a small crush on her. In my stories I very specifically ignored that in favor of pure platonic squishes, but I know it at least used to be there.

In the “Cold Fire Rising” sequels where I introduce my pansexual OC who has my disabilities, I involve Mike and Don in a polyamorous triad with her. Since she’s a telepathic neuropsychologist who is really fucking open about love, therapy sessions involve sex. For Raph and Leo, it’s astral plane only for Reasons. I know people don’t read “CFR 3: Lightning Crashes”, but it’s important to the AU, even with the “OC has sex with all four brothers plus Karai” thing.

Besides, the award-winning “CFR 4: Crossfire” might be a little confusing without it. So much comfort sex.

Ah, shit, that reminds me. “CFR 5: Mind Games” will finally have Mikey come out as autistic after Gaia and her sister Rhea blatantly point it out after Mike helps Donnie with a thing and Gaia’s like, “Guys, he’s autistic as fuck how did you not realize this? Oh right, isolation underground.” I know he (and Don) are aut in “Mikey The Lifegiver” and “The Sunshine Child” but if I’m going to give my OC my disabilities, well, blah blah blah. Fanfiction AU allows for many liberties.

Also I surprised myself with how much attention I’ve been giving Donatello in my fics outside of his relationship with Mikey. Donnie’s the fandom darling so I have my reasons for being so extremely Mikey-centric. But Donnie is growing on me as a point of view character. That means he’s in trouble.

But I am curious about other fic writers, neurodivergent or not.

A lot of the fandom likes to make Donatello autistic (or Aspie, which got merged with autism). I say he and Mike display their Autistic traits in different ways. Donnie with hard science and medicine, Mikey with soft science and culture and a little medicine. He’s totally Donnie’s assistant as long as he focuses.

Mikey is much more intellectual, wise, insightful, spiritual, emotionally intelligent, and savvy than he is portrayed.

I just got a fascinating message about how Rise Donnie was nothing like the other Donnies because he lacked their inherent intrinsic kindness, and was in fact both a villain stereotype and a poor representation that allowed his writers to project far too much lofty techbro ideas. And I was asked if that meant Michelangelo was a better representation. And I can't answer that. I don't know how to answer that. Feels odd to even be thinking about it. But now that I am, it's hard to stop.
