“No. I’m driving you home,” he argued, grabbing your jacket and handing it to you.

“But-”

“No buts,” he interrupted you. “I’m not letting you take the train, it’s raining.”

You gave up; partly, because he was stubborn and partly because you wanted nothing more than to be in the car alone with him.

The rain falling on the roof of his car wasn’t loud enough to cover the sound of the music that was coming from his radio. You didn’t recognize the song, but even if you did, you’d still have no interest in it. There were only a few very specific songs you wanted to listen to at that moment.

Aaron could probably see you staring at the radio, so you assumed that was the reason he made you an offer.

“You can play your songs if you want.”

“Do you really not mind?” you grinned, already opening your Spotify app.

“Of course,” he chuckled. “Go ahead.”

“Taylor released a new album and with work I haven’t had the chance to listen to it properly yet.”

“Is that why you had headphones on all day at the office?”

“I was lucky it was paperwork day.”

He shook his head in delight, and let you connect your phone to his car. You bit your lip trying to hold back a smile at the thought that he didn’t need to ask who Taylor was. And at the fact that you were certainly the reason why.

“How do you know the lyrics by heart already?” he asked, only one song in.

“Not all songs are new.”

“How does that work, I thought you said it’s a new album?”

“Okay so, it’s basically a rerecording of an old album. And she added a few new songs in as well. So even if it’s an old album it feels new,” you said. “She is rerecording all of her old albums that she doesn’t own. Because even though she wanted to buy them they were sold to somebody else. Someone who had not been good to her.”

“That’s terrible.”

“Yeah…But because she wrote them she has the right to record them again.”

“Oh…Good for her.”

“Yes. All Swifties listen to her versions.”

“Do they?” he said, laughing.

“Yes,” you said proudly.

“And which one is your favorite?”

“From this album?” you asked.

“Mhm…”

“I’ll just play it for you.”

It was hard to miss his shy smile when he saw the title ‘You Are In Love’ flash across the screen.

He’s just a guy who’s good at his job. There’s not too much that stands out about him beyond that and I think that’s what makes him so interesting? That he’s just a person- not even a Everyman just… a guy. Like a coworker you know a thing or two about but has their own life etc.

I think he’s one of the reasons I love 2001 so much. He and Frank are two highly highly trained men who have to deal with a horrible situation— the stress, the problems etc don’t come from within the ship (as it’s not Hal’s fault either)

I think it makes the movie boring to some because it’s “guys who are good at their job and follow procedure” as a lot of space movies have people who… should not be in space if their that incompetent but I digress.

era comum que fosse fazer compras pra sua mãe apesar de ainda tão nova. ela precisava de alguém pra ajuda-la em casa afinal e eram só as duas. com seu macacão lilás adorável e todo cheio de flores bordadas — tinha sido presente de aniversário — ela caminhava pelas ruas pequenas e mais afastadas do centro, em busca do pequeno mercadinho de esquina.

"tofu, alho-poró, gergelim. tofu, alho-poró, gergelim. tofu, alho-poró, gergelim..." ela cantarolava com a língua presa e a voz tranquila, como forma de lembrar todas as coisas que precisava comprar, mesmo que uma lista tão pequena. ajudava a memorizar tudo quando fazia daquela forma, então apenas acostumou.

ela não demorou pra chegar no pequeno mercadinho da família jū que sempre era tão gentil consigo, além de grandes amigos também de sua mãe. a pequena foi correndo até a área de vegetais, tendo que ficar na ponta dos pés pra conseguir pegar o melhor alho-poró — sua mãe tinha ensinado como escolher, mas sempre tinha a senhorinha pra ajuda-la — colocando-o na cestinha de compra enquanto seguia pra parte do freezer pegar o tofu e em seguida fazendo o mesmo com gergelim.

óbvio que os adultos ficavam vendo admirados, achando adorável uma criança tão pequena fazer tudo sem nem hesitar, sabendo escolher cada coisa pra levar, antes de nem mesmo conseguir alcançar o caixa.

"olá, ningning! sua mãe vai fazer mabo tofu hoje?" a senhorinha perguntou, enquanto passava as compras calmamente, ao mesmo tempo que a garota só concordava com a cabeça, sempre receosa demais pra abrir a boca. um tanto distraída, sua atenção foi até a televisão que ficava pendurada na parte superior da lojinha, tendo seus olhos brilhando ao perceber... era seu rosto ali.

óbvio que já sabia que seu comercial passaria por toda a região, mas vê-lo em um dia rotineiro ainda era algo que a fazia sentir frio na barriga, uma empolgação sem tamanho. aquilo chamou atenção da maioria dos clientes — principalmente os que conheciam a pequena — causando um certo alvoroço de orgulho e uma onda de elogios, ela nem sabia o que fazer com tamanha atenção — já que não recebia muita em casa.

"ningning! é você?!" a senhora exclamou, logo soltando um som surpreso. "você está adorável! consegue fazer a pose que fez no comercial?" ela perguntou animada, enquanto terminava de empacotar as coisas. e quase como automaticamente a criança fez o sinal de V com a canhota, enquanto a destra ia para a cintura, fazendo uma pose de imitação barata de sailor moon, deixando o sorriso adorável pairar nos lábios.

"plus candy!" falou, com um sotaque carregadíssimo, mas era aquilo que deixava ainda mais adorável. finalizando com uma piscadinha que faria o coração de qualquer adulto paralisar. aquilo conquistou até as pessoas que não a conheciam, querendo tirar fotos, pagar alguma guloseima. senhora ju teve que conter um pouco as pessoas pra enfim conseguir deixar a pequena voltar pra casa.

ningke estava saltitante no caminho de casa, podia ter atrasado uns vinte minutos na volta, mas não importava, tinha ficado mais popular, e melhor ainda, tinha conseguido um pouco da atenção que sempre queria. não tardou pra que ela adentrasse a casa e visse a mãe no sofá, assistindo uma programação qualquer e na mesa... apenas uma tigela de arroz. a criança olhou confusa pra matriarca, que com o olhar incomodado e cansado a encarou de volta.

"cansei de esperar, essa é a janta."

apesar do incomodo que era comer apenas o arroz puro, nada era pior do que ter mais atenção dos outros do que da sua própria mãe. a criança não discutiu — nem poderia. aquela tinha sido a primeira vez que desejou tanto se tornar atriz.

One time he went ballistic on a gossip site that said your vocals were “okay but not strong” and started an internet war that trended #1 for three days.

So when a patient’s daughter is watching a performance on her tablet and he glances over during rounds only to see YOU, glitter-streaked and bouncing around in thigh-highs and a pink puff mini dress—

“…What.”

He does not blink for a full ten seconds.

“Is that, excuse me. Pause that. Rewind. What’s the name of that group?”

He goes into full private investigator mode. Comes home that night stone-faced. You’re like “hi honey!!” and he deadpans:

“You. On the stage. The sparkles. The outfit. Was that… you?”

He is so betrayed and confused but also deeply stunned that you’re that girl. The crowd chanting your name. The fan cams. The high ponytail whip. You.

You catch him watching a 12-minute fancam of you performing “Honey Prism Jetstar” while cross-referencing your tour dates with your “practice nights.”

He’s not mad. He’s just flustered. And now… a little obsessed.

“So when you told me you ‘had rehearsals’… you were actually preparing to drop-kick into a glitter cannon in front of 20,000 people. Hm. Good to know.”

He won’t tell you this, but he bought all your merch the next day.

So when he catches you live on a massive city billboard in a hyper-cute outfit with bubble fonts that say “CATCH THE SPARK!! TOUR STARTS NOW!!” he just stares blankly at the screen for a full minute.

“…That is not spiritual dancewear.”

Suddenly he’s like an alien studying Earth pop culture. He sits down with a furrowed brow and watches every single one of your performances, slowly realizing this is not some divine ritual, this is an industry. A very sparkly one.

“I saw you do three mid-air jumps, three spins, and wink at the crowd. Did you… train for combat? Or was that purely to be adorable?”

He becomes your weirdest, most affectionate hype man. Has no idea what’s going on but claps every time you twirl. Thinks your bunny-ear hoodie is a “symbol of power.”

Insists on walking you to practice like some bodyguard husband.

“If anyone touches you backstage, I will vaporize them.”

You once said you were in “entertainment.” He assumed you meant like… background investor or studio executive.

Until one of his underlings nervously drops a report file with your idol trading card sticking out of it.

“…What the hell is this.”

Cue Sylus stopping the entire meeting and storming off to his office, pulling up every video, clip, and fan page. There you are, smiling so sweetly, throwing heart signs. You even winked into the camera. His girl. Acting all sweet and innocent on a Jumbotron.

He. Is. Shocked.

“You’ve been out there singing songs about ‘candy rainbows’ while I’m out here managing arms deals? In what world?!”

Cue instant ownership mode. He shows up to your concert in an all-black suit and dark shades like some VIP villain boss backstage. Refuses to sit in the crowd.

You run off stage, breathless and giddy, and he just crosses his arms, unimpressed:

“You forgot to tell me you were famous. I don’t like surprises.”

But you catch him replaying your slow-motion twirl like 37 times and smiling to himself.

He now owns your entire photocard collection in a gold-edged binder.

He doesn’t have social media. Doesn’t follow trends. Just thought you liked “dancing and working out with friends.”

One day, your face gets projected 300ft tall onto the Skyhaven Tower to advertise your upcoming world tour. He happens to be inside the building. Mid-meeting. Sees you spinning with a sparkling mic and doing that adorable little “chu~” pose.

“…Excuse me.”

He walks out of his own briefing.

Finds your official channel. Watches every performance in dead silence.

The next time he sees you, he doesn’t say anything for a full minute. Just stands there, arms crossed, giving you this intense look.

“That crowd… was cheering your name. Are they always that loud?”

He starts accompanying you to every live event with a straight face. Secretly terrifying your manager. Wears his uniform. Refuses to sit unless he can be front row.

If a fan so much as yells too loud, he tenses.

“Why are they yelling. That’s too close.”

At home he’s soft about it. You’re bouncing around in your costume and he just tugs you onto his lap.
