Bow to the Empress Chapter 1 Part 1

"You should stop riding bikes, bitch." Vin Jin uttered, glaring at his female friend who's straddling a motorcycle. Annoyance was written on his face and dashed towards her, shoving her off the vehicle.

A nerve appeared on Mary Kim's forehead and feeling vindictive, she kicked him in the stomach. Vin Jin groaned, clutching his stomach while muttering curses under his breath.

"I'll get my revenge one day, bitch." He snapped.

"Creative nickname. And you've said those words a million times already these years. I don't think you'll be getting your so called revenge sooner." Mary smirked. "But I'll be quitting riding bikes for the fear of getting my ass kicked by Vin Jin." She laughed boisterousrously at seeing her friend's face.

In actuality, she knew Vin was worried. He didn't want what happened to him happen to her.

Miru Kim – Sentimiento Urbano

Miru Kim es una artista, fotógrafa, ilustradora y coordinadora de eventos artísticos, que ha estudiado, documentado y fotografiado diversos entornos urbanos abandonados como estaciones de metro, túneles, el acueducto Croton, catacumbas, fábricas, hospitales, y los astilleros.  Kim Naked City Spleen es una serie de fotografías que incluyen imágenes de ella desnuda en estos sitios.

«Yo estaba interesada en los animales que habitan en esos ruinosos sitios en la ciudad. El personaje de ficción que quería crear tenía que ser universal, y la ropa hace que la vida sea de una cultura específica y de un tiempo específico. Comencé a hacer de modelo yo misma porque no pude convencer a nadie para que se desnudase en esas localizaciones, y obtener un animal para hacer las fotos iba a ser aún más difícil. Entonces, el aspecto de su ejecución se convirtió en algo muy atractivo para mi, porque empecé a notar como se transformaban esos espacios tan pronto como me quito la ropa y camino alrededor. Se convierten en algo mucho más familiar y tranquilo.»

«A menudo sentía… una especie de alineación y ansiedad en los ambientes urbanos, y una de las maneras de escaparme de este aspecto negativo era visitando los olvidados y abandonados lugares de la ciudad. Los sentimientos de soledad y aislamiento que he tenido, pueden estar relacionados con mi traslado a Estados Unidos con 13 años de edad, sin conocer el idioma. Pero creo que la mayoría de los habitantes urbanos entienden estos sentimientos, independientemente de su cultura.» (Miru Kim)

Lo que me interesa de ella es su curiosidad por los habitantes de los espacios ruinosos de la ciudad, que en su mayoría son animales, y hablo específicamente de las ratas. Me hace pensar en la urbanidad desde esta vista, y en la narrativa de las ratas como habitantes urbanos.

LOOK! What is it?

What will be Mary and Vin Jin's part in the recent chapters of Lookism? I mean, they used to be like minor characters in the early chapters, but now they're like a part in the squad.

Line Webtoon just updated Lookism yesterday. I was shocked to find out that this person

is not Vin. At first, I thought it was Vin because the hair. . . but, it's actually my favorite female character! Mary Kim!

Wow. What are your secrets, girl. Pray tell.

I already expected this because of some hint in the police station about her thighs being thick and such. But still, I can't help but drop my jaw. I mean, wow.

She always get ticked off by fat and thick. I wonder if did she got bullied in the past? It was stated that she lost like 40 kilograms because of some reason. What is that reason. Tell us, VIN JIN.

Wat. I CAN'T WAIT ON THE NEXT UPDATE. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. ELI MAH BOI. OMG, let's calm down. This post isn't about Eli mah bebe.

Miru Kim - My underground Art

Miru Kim is an artist born in South Korea whom moved to New York City in 1999 where she became a pre med. She was interested in becoming a surgeon from her keen eye for anatomy. Kim saw NYC as a living organism and wanted to peer into its unseen layers. Rats were her initial obsession and began to photograph them in their natural habitat. Kim took to the Internet where she discovered a group called 'urban explorers’; this is a group that scoped out abandoned ruins/buildings/under ground passes. Kim decided to invent herself as a fictional character that lives in these places; Kim chose to document this nude as to not implicate any sort of culture, to become part of the nature.

This lecture was of significant interest to me; I appreciated her love for abandoned ruins and her need to humanize the spaces to preserve there soon to be forgotten memories. Kim delivered this presentation with a well-projected voice and a confident stance. The images shown were of high quality and suitable relevance. Her voice proved to be a little shaky; this is a relief to show that even artists who have been presenting for years still get nervous when delivering talks on themselves.

After watching this lecture I have been able to answer some questions I had about my own practice. In particularly the use of the nude body as to not show any cultural influence. I can also relate to the fear of being isolated in an urban environment.
