Rhodey throws Tony his first real birthday in their dorm. It’s just the two of them, eating junk food, and watching Star Trek. Jarvis calls around noon and he’s the only other person to wish Tony a happy birthday.

It’s the best birthday Tony has ever had. All the others were about his parents or forgotten in favor of celebrating Steve for Memorial Day.

This is when Tony decides that Rhodey is going to be next to him forever. They are brothers now. And when Rhodey smears grocery store sheet cake on Tony’s face, kisses his cheek, and says “Happy Sweet Sixteen” Tony finally understands how people can cry from happiness.

How I would use Steve Rogers and Chris Evans in the MCU (Part 2)

Part 1

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR  THE BEGINNING OF THE NOMAD ERA 

The third Captain America was not a Captain America movie, so here is what I would do to fix it and let be fair Captain America: Civil War was either Iron Man 4 (there was Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Age of Ultron - was Iron Man 3.5) or Avenger 2.5. The fact that we had two superheroes introduced, have a new avenger added, and set up THREE movies! So, here is how I would make a third Captain America: 

In 1991, the brainwashed super-soldier James "Bucky" Barnes is dispatched from a Hydra base in Siberia to intercept an automobile carrying a case of super-soldier serum.

We have Bucky having a nightmare about being woken up to be prepped to ease his mind. We see him writing in a notebook and that he is in Romania. 

In the present day, approximately one year after the Avengers defeat Ultron in the nation of Sokovia, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Sam Wilson, and Wanda Maximoff stop Brock Rumlow from stealing a biological weapon from a lab in Lagos. Rumlow blows himself up, attempting to kill Rogers. Maximoff telekinetically diverts the explosion, accidentally destroying a nearby building and killing several Wakandan humanitarian workers in the process.

Steve is in a building with the local police because Steve is a person who would get permission along with having Vision and Rhodey are with them. Everything is the same, but we see the clean up and Wanda speaking with the local police with Rhodey. 

At MIT, Tony Stark demonstrates B.A.R.F. – a piece of technology aimed to recreate and relive old memories- and follows with a speech where he introduces a grant being awarded to all students, giving them all the proper funding to move forward with their own inventions and ideas. Before leaving the stage, he is shaken when the teleprompter refers Pepper Potts, whom he has broken up with over his refusal to give up being Iron Man. Outside, he is confronted by Miriam Sharpe whose son was killed in the battle with Ultron in Sokovia, whose story shakes Stark especially when she says that she blames him and the Avengers for her son's death, not Ultron.

I would now have Steve and Sam in DC at Sam’s house there as Steve was told that Peggy wouldn’t make it by the end of the month. Steve and Sam discussed their plans to find Bucky and the book, and we see that Steve had printed out everything. He and Sam have been working secretly after everything that had happened in Sokovia, and Steve realized that the others shouldn’t have to help him find Bucky, so he told them he was giving up, but we see that he and Sam were looking for Bucky and the red book.

Steve gets a call that Peggy wants to see him, and they have an emotional goodbye as Sam and Sharon look on. Peggy asks Steve if what he is doing is making him happy and that maybe it is time he steps back, as she knew he was going to do that before the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. While leaving the nursing home, Sam, Sharon, and Steve are stopped by Natasha, and she tells them that Ross wants them (Sam and Steve) back home. Sam asks if this can’t wait as Peggy just died, and Natasha says it’s about the accords we have been hearing about. Steve tells Sharon that they will see her in London, and Sharon reminds him that Peggy wanted him in the Army uniform. 

Steve gets back to see that Wanda is back from visiting Barton and that Barton reminds everyone that he is retired. Wanda and Steve have their scene together, and Vision comes to get them when Tony and Ross are there. 

The Avengers are visited by Stark and Thaddeus Ross, waiting for them. Ross explains that due to the events of New York, Washington, D.C., Sokovia and the recent disaster, Lagos, the United Nations has decided that the Avengers can no longer be allowed to operate privately. To that end, it has been decided that the Avengers will sign the Sokovia Accords, that is approved by 117 countries, which will establish an international panel to control the Avengers' movements as well as monitor and police the rapidly growing number of enhanced individuals.

In this scene, I would have Steve remind Ross of what he did to Bruce, that Thor is a crown prince and god, that the Battle of New York was a war against aliens and that they were under orders from S.H.I.E.L.D. and WSC, Washington, D.C. was to stop HYDRA and that HYDRA had compromise every branch of government and organizations in the USA which is consider domestic terrorism, Sokovia was to clean up the AI threat that Tony, Bruce, Thor and Wanda had created and that was on the four them which none of them had been charges with anything was let go, the Lagos was an accident and the local police had agree that Wanda wasn’t entirely to be blamed. Steve would ask Ross why now and not right after S.H.I.E.L.D. had fallen, if this had not brought up what would happen, and he would remind Ross that Captain America belonged to the military along with War Marchine and Falcon, not the whole of the UN. Steve then tells Ross that giving them only three days to read this accord and not allowing them time to get a lawyer to look it over is something he answers to as he knows this was in the works for years now. 

The team is divided over the act; Stark supports government oversight because he feels guilty for his role in creating Ultron and the devastation Ultron caused. He also feels that the Avengers need to take more responsibility for the consequences of their actions, as he did when he discovered Stark Industries was secretly shipping weapons to Ten Rings. However, Rogers worries that the Avengers may be compromised if it comes under the control of a nefarious third party, such as the infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. by HYDRA. Ross states that refusing to sign the accords will be seen as an act of resignation.

In this scene, I would do a few things differently: 

When Rhodey brings up Ross’ medal, I would have Vision (who knows everything) say Steve has one too, along with other medals and honors. 

I would have Steve say this sound like why I became Captain America in the first place, this sound like Nazi talking as he has an eidetic memory already read the accords that we saw along with reminding them this will lead to internment camp and removing basic human rights, the rights the US fought for women and people of colour. 

I would have Wanda call out Tony for calling about the American boy who was killed, but him forgetting about her brother who gave his life to save Clint. 

I would have Steve ask Rhodey, whom he got close to, if his sacrifice was in vain. He lost 66 years of his life for his freedom and rights for nothing. He tells Natasha that risking their lives along with Sam to save millions from Hydra was for nothing, as this was what Hydra was also going for. 

Sam said they needed to be in check, but not with the man who wanted to make his super-soldier and spend years hunting down Bruce. He'd wanted to get his hand on Steve for a few years. 

Vision, finish his fact, I would have Steve tell him that he wasn’t awake nor part of anything the first three to four years, that they were under S.H.I.E.L.D. for two years, and that he, Sam, and Rhodey answer to the Military. Steve would say you can’t group everyone according to what Tony has done, what Natasha has done, or what he has done before going on the ice and after. Everyone should answer for their crimes and not make everyone else suffer the consequences of others’ actions. 

Sam makes it known that he is going back to the Air Force and his job at the VA. Steve tells them that he will be speaking about why he won’t be signing as he is the first Avenger. They both leave. Wanda says that she is going to retire as she knows this is all her fault and leaves. 

During their debate about the Accords, Rogers learns that Peggy Carter has passed away in her sleep and abruptly leaves for her funeral in London. While there, he learns Sharon Carter was Peggy's great-niece as she delivers a eulogy about how one should never back down from what they believe in. This solidifies Roger's resolve not to sign the accords. Wanda finds herself confined to the facility by Vision, ostensibly for her safety since emotions are running high after what happened in Lagos.

The new Funeral scene and a new scene on a jet: 

A Jet Scene was set up from the Carter family: On the Jet- Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne, Clint and Laura Barton, Natasha, Sam, Steve, Tony, Rhodey, Pepper, and Maria Hill. 

Hank asks Steve what he is reading as Steve highlights and sticky notes the accords. Sam explains the accords to Clint, Laura, Hank, Maria, Pepper, and Hope, in which Hank makes a snark comment about how, of course, Stark is part of something that doesn’t apply to them. 

Pepper is surprised that Rhodey and Tony would support Ross after all three of them have hated the man for years. 

Clint, Laura, and Maria question Natasha about why she is on the side of this, as she fought about it two years before. 

Steve asks them not to argue or speak about this as he doesn’t have the energy to listen to more fighting. 

Laura asks Steve about Peggy, and we get a flashback of Steve and Peggy’s story from the first movie. I would show the clip of Peggy shooting at him because she was jealous. 

I would have Hope comment that Steve and his best friend James are left from the Howling Commandos. 

The Funeral Scene: 

In Sharon’s speech, we should have gotten something about Peggy working hard as a woman in the war, that she helped create SHIELD, and that she fought for right and wrong. That whole speech about compromise when Peggy herself won’t agree about the accords—yeah, I would rather get a callback from her TV show or even the one-shot. 

After the funeral, I would have Sharon and Steve have a more extended scene and him speaking to her about accords and Sharon say something about why she help him when SHIELD had fallen because he was everything her grandmother said he was that he has this moral compress that knows what is truly right and that you never agree to anything without thinking how it impact everyone. I would have Sharon and Steve kiss here, and Sam would come up with them and ask if they’re going to the UN. Steve asked Sharon to join them. 

In Vienna, where the signing of the Accords is to take place, a terrorist bomb kills King T'Chaka of Wakanda.

I would have Steve in full WWII military uniform and have him meet the King T’Chaka about remembering that he was a child the first time they met. King and Prince, as Steve is holding Sharon’s hand and Sam is next to him in his military uniform, he is retiring, and he can’t sign something that sounds like what he fought against and lost years of his life for. He is here to see if they can review and revive the accords. I would have King not for it because of what happened almost seven weeks before with Wanda and that Steve asked if he and his son will register then as every single person who is abnormal will have to sign as he knows what’s in their waters, T’Challa tells Steve that not in it to have Sam showing him it and the part where any future children of the enhances person have must register as well. The signing was about to start before King and Prince could say something. 

When security cameras reveal the suspect as Bucky Barnes, T'Chaka's son, T'Challa, vows revenge. Against Romanoff's advice, Rogers and Wilson decide to go behind Ross' back and bring Barnes themselves.

Sharon, Sam, and Steve are all okay from the bombing but are confused on why Bucky would bomb the UN as they knew Hydra and Crossbone and his team were all killed as they know Bucky was under mind-controlled. Sharon tries to tell her boss, Everett Ross, that this isn’t adding up as Sam and Steve listen to them. Everett agrees, as the CIA had found where Bucky been but never did anything because they knew they need the book to help the longest POW in history. Not knowing, but the Avengers and T’Challa were listening to them, and it is a race to see who gets to Bucky first. 

Here is where it changes: 

Steve and Sam get to Bucky first, and with the help of Sharon and Everett Ross, they hide Bucky in Sharon's safe house. 

Sharon and Everett Ross bring in Steve and Sam for breaking the accords, to which Steve reminds them that neither he nor Sam signed it, so they can’t be charged and that the Army isn’t charging them anything. Tony tries to get Steve to break and sign to Steve, telling them that he is done. 

Steve is back in the States with Sharon and Sam. As the three of them pack up to leave, Rhodey asks them where, to which Sharon says Aunt Peggy’s home in London. 

Here is where I have Steve take on NOMAD. 

Steve, Sharon, and Sam look for who set up Bucky and killed the King. 

Steve finds out about Zemo, remembers his name on the HYDRA list, and knows that HYDRA is still out there. Knowing this, he brings Zemo down to get the news that Tony is angry at him and Bucky because Zemo sent Tony the video of Winter Soldier killing his parents and knew he lost Tony. 

T’Challa finds the safe house that Steve, Sharon, Sam, and Bucky are in as they look at that Red book that can boot a Winter Soldier and Black Widow. T’Challa offers to help as he wants to know more about what Steve is talking about regarding the accords and HYDRA. 

We end the movie with Natasha getting a letter from Steve telling her that Bucky is safe as they are working on getting HYDRA out but that she is in danger, that the Red Room is active, and she and the other widows are still under their control. 

POST-SCENE:

Steve sent Clint, Wanda, and Natasha a burner phone with one number on it. 

Infinity War 

Almost three years, as it is 2019.

Sam is found back in his hometown by most of the Avengers, along with Loki, Bruce, and Thor, and they ask where Steve is. 

We find Steve and Sharon living happily in Scotland, where they recently got married. We learn that Sam, Steve, and Sharon had gotten rid of the last of HYDRA. 

Sharon and Steve have a child (because I want Steve to have a happy life because a man deserves it); it’s a little girl named Sarah Margaret Roger-Carter. 

Bruce tells Steve and Sharon about what will happen, and they agree to help. 

They meet up with Bucky and the others to fight Thanos.

They lose, and Steve loses his wife, daughter, and two best friends. 

Endgame

Steve is the one who does the snap against Thanos after Bruce says that only Steve, Carol, and himself are strong enough to live through doing the snap, and he does. 

He gives Sam the shield, and he and Sharon tell Bucky to come home with them for a little while.

Beginnings  Bingo  [BB_25]   (Ends 31 May 2025)

This new all-fandoms bingo event (courtesy of  @sweetspicybingo) celebrates beginnings. I’ve got a 3x3 card (plus two alternates) and ended up with a blackout.  Will be posting my Masterlist Real Soon.

Hot Bucky Summer [HBS_25] (Ends 30 Aug 2025) 

This steamy event - brought to you by the fine folks over at @buckybarnesevents  - is a go for this year!  Weekly themes and prompts (as well as the rules) have been posted here on Tumblr and  participants can create whatever their smutty (or not so smutty) hearts desire, as long as Bucky is in the mix!  I’ve picked out a few prompts and crossovers  to work with - my goal is to complete at least two fics/month, with a stretch goal of creating something for every week.   So far so good…

* Week 1: I used pretty much all the prompts (“Mind your own damn business.” | [Secret Sex/Relationship | Embarrassment | Denial) for   Typos and Innuendos. It’s a Mature-rated No Powers Workplace  AU ficlet where Bucky’s inappropriate/blatantly suggestive typo (inspired by a Tumblr post & real-life text) gets Tony’s attention; their resulting innuendos and banter ramp the workplace UST up to the boiling point (and beyond).  It came in at 550 words.    

* Week 2: Am using the prompts  “Did I give you permission?” | Orgasm Delay/Denial | Master/Pet Roleplay] for an Explicit Winterhawk fic where Bucky plays the pet role.  Tentatively titled His Master’s Touch, the fic is drafted at 908 words  and will get posted to Ao3 on the 13th.  

* Week 3:  Am using the prompts “Not now!” | Heat/Rut  and  Exhibitionism , combined with the YOTP June - Unconventional sex positions prompt, my FFB Apr  A1 - Public Sex and WIB  O2 - dom drop square for All Twisted Up, an omegaverse D/s WinterIron fic where their scene at a club starts going wrong for alpha Dom Bucky. It’s coming in at around 700 words and will get posted to Ao3 on the 20th.

The @fandom-free-bingo blog offers up themed cards on a monthly basis - either 3x3 or 5x5 - you have a year to create your fanworks if you want them reblogged. 

Gingerbread Edition (December) - Ends 30 Nov 2025 

Eight of nine fills completed - zero WIPs 

* A2 - "I can't believe you!"  Combined this with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF299 Stranger Than Fiction] for Caught In the Act  - a Tony & Pepper IM1 canon-compliant double drabble - expanding a bit on the scene where Pepper walks in on Tony being extricated from the armor after Gulmira.  It came in at 200 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.  

* Alt1 - Surprise Kiss  - see  pJBB - * C1_B1 - Fear of showing affection because of past rejection

* Alt3 - "Work your magic" -  Combined this with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt  [#FFF305 Divine Questioning]   for  Even a God Has Limits - a double drabble where Tony discovers that Loki’s powers have their limits - and that they have a heartbreak in common.  

Half-Baked Edition (February) - Ends 31 Jan 2026

Six of nine fills completed with one bingo - no WIPs at the moment. 

* B2 - FREE - I combined this with a previous Flash Fiction Friday prompt   [FFF#294 - Cursed Trio] for Horning In - a SamBuckyJoaquin ficlet where Brock tries to hit on Sam’s two partners at the club.  It came in at 222 words and will get posted to Ao3 before this event ends. 

Fool's Edition (April) - Ends 31 March 2026

Four fills and 1 WIPs 

* A1 - Public Sex - see HBS  Week 3. 

* A2 - "I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve."  - Combined this with three Flash Fic Friday prompts:   prompts:  [#FFF300 Let Me Go] [#FFF300 Burn It Down] [#FFF300 Rise and Fall]  for  A Mysterious Musician - a No Powers College AU WinterIron fic where Tony falls at first sight for the singer of a local band, only to discover that he knows him from somewhere else.  It came in at 747 words and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I may expand it at some point before posting to Ao3. 

* B3 - Pirate AU - Posted  A Pirate’s Life for Them to Ao3 this morning - I was inspired by a Tumblr post talking about MIT’s Pirate Certificate and ended up with a Tony & Rhodey MIT era shenanigans fic - it came in at 232 words. 

Madness May (Ends 30 Apr 2026]

I requested a May card - still trying to work out crossovers and have a couple of duplicates from previous cards.

Making good progress on this challenge where you create (at least) twelve works for a specific pairing by using the monthly prompts provided. I’m a bit of an over-achiever with nine prompts filled so far, although May was a skin-of-the-teeth fill!

Summary: It’s not that James disliked his roommate, it’s just that they didn’t exactly get off on the right foot. Or, in which fifteen-year-old college freshman Tony Stark needs a ride to the ER and James Rhodes is too responsible for his own good.

Reasons why I love it: This fic feels incredibly real to me – like, if Tony and Rhodey were real people, this is how their friendship would've started. I love that we get to see the beginnings of Rhodey's affection for Tony and that they have this sort of brotherly dynamic between them. It's amazing, and I hope you go and read it for yourself!

It's super sweet, even though Tony's struggle breaks my heart. This fic is amazing, and you should definitely read it!

Reasons why I love it: The last line of this fic always makes me grin like an idiot. I really love the way FRIDAY teases Rhodey here, their dialogue is super fun. And of course, I'm always a sucker for Irondad, so Tony and Peter being adorable together makes me beyond happy. You should give this one a read, it's wonderful!

Pairing: Rhodey & Tony, Bucky/Tony Rating: T Words: 1,883 Tags: Protective Rhodey, Misunderstandings, First Kiss

Summary: Now, Jim is about as straight as a person can be—tested a couple of times by drunkenly making out with his best friend, which Tony loves to bring up whenever it’s really inappropriate to do so—but he has no problem admitting that, objectively speaking, Barnes is an attractive guy. He’s got that whole gruff, frowny, bad boy thing a lot of people are into going on, but whenever he actually does smile, it’s devastating. One time, Jim had seen a girl on the street do a double-take and nearly walk into a magazine stand after Barnes had smiled at one of Tony’s dumb jokes. Or, alternatively; Rhodey means well, meddles, and actually sort-of-kind-of ends up helping in the end.

Reasons why I love it: Aaah, meddling Rhodey, my beloved! His concern for Tony's well-being is so sweet, and I love how he has Tony's back without ever intending to mention it to him. Also, the background Winteriron romance is adorable, they're such dorks in love. Please go and check this one out if you haven't, it's amazing!

Summary: After 48 hours of drawn out global action on behalf of the Avengers and SHIELD, Tony and Rhodey come aboard the Helicarrier for debrief and downtime. People are tired and frazzled, and slighly more unguarded than usual.

Reasons why I love it: This is such a sweet look at the team behind closed doors. I especially loved the banter between Rhodey, Tony and Fury, and how this truly feels like a deleted post-battle scene. Plus, that little sincere Rhodey-Tony moment at the end there made me super happy. I love this one, and I bet you will too!

My unpopular opinion (or unpopular personal headcanon): Tony and Rhodey have definitely fucked before. And I'm not just talking about their MIT era and younglings years. I think whenever they weren't in relationships and one of them or both needed to release some tension, they'd get it on. Post-coital cuddles included. And they're very cool and relaxed about it, no big deal. And they had casual cuddles sessions whenever they needed it.

Oof!! Now that’s new.

I love the idea of them together 🤍 they’d be ADORABLE. Squabbling over little things and stuff 🥹
