I put my pieces up for sale here as I make them:

they get snapped up pretty fast. I will be reopening commissions after kiln and shipping times are over, if you have something specific in mind (like a half-eaten mug, maybe)

because my work is usually decorated before it's glazed, a lot of people know they want the piece before it's been through the kiln, before the clay has even dried.

I tag greenware (unfired clay pieces) as either 'reserved' or 'available once fired'. if you're interested in an available piece, just send me a message

because I don't want to collect deposits for pieces that might or might not survive the kiln, I use a 'dibs' system to let people claim my unfired pottery

dibs works like this:

you’re not obligated to buy anything you have dibs on, but you’ll see it first once it's fired

no need for a deposit

once the piece is finished, I’ll message you, send you pictures and give you a week to decide/arrange shipping

I’m willing to hold pieces longer but only if you communicate that with me

I know eventually it'll find a home, I'm not stressed out about it. I don't count my chickens before they go through the kiln)

jesus, tumblr mobile just glitched and told me your blog was deleted 😭 that was terrifying i thought they got you again. anyway, i noticed an interesting trend in the polls, which is when a character has straight hair they automatically get a "nah" or "mid" from the white/NB voters. but a few of these characters just look like they have a wig or straightened hair, and those get "peak" or sometimes "mid" from Black voters, but a "nah" from everyone else.

i think in a sense its.. good that voters are conscious of the age-old erasure of Black hair by making every Black character have *naturally* straight hair, but have y'all not had Black coworkers or friends or just.. opened a social media app and seen Black creators and celebrities? a lot of people don't wear their natural hair! especially when other character designs from the same piece of media have natural hair textures, it just reads as a wig or straightened hair! not a bad character design.

Yeah, I have noticed that trend as well. But, I mean, unfortunately we know that a lot of white people don't really know the range of what we look like. Which is another reason why I run this blog 😅 Because I'll be honest, there are some that I too didn't care for. Like y'all loved Clawdeen, but me... I'm sorry, i'm sick of that little wavy hair tips end design that people consider "curls". It's not. It's wavy. But when it came to Billie, it was like... Yeah she looks like a auntie in the straightened hair, but it dead ass does look like our hair when straightened, or in wigs.

It also is a matter of intent, which is what I did ask as part of the question, so we can't be too ungracious. Like with Trudy, I was shocked at the results bc Trudy looks the way my mom did, back when flatironed hair was the thing for Black women. She was drawn intentionally to look that way. Versus some others, the intent for textured hair is VISIBLY not there, and that should affect your vote. But I do recognize that Black voters can probably see that intent a bit better.

I do hope people remember that you CAN look up more details 😅 it doesn't have to be just the one picture. There are a lot of asks, yeah. 👍🏾

No Return Night - Thoughts

Spoilers below the cut! As usual I apologize if mobile Tumblr trolls anyone. I'd started this a while ago but got distracted, figured better late than never to share my thoughts! 🤣

SPOILERS BELOW HERE

First off, I want to add a disclaimer that 1) I have a strong Sylus bias and 2) I will accept no hate for Caleb or Caleb girlies!!! These are just my subjective thoughts.

Something that stood out to me watching No Return Night is just how many friends Caleb has that he basically tells to fuck off because he only wants to spend time with MC. And I totally get the dark romance aspect and that this is part of the appeal, but 1) that specific dynamic not just my thing personally and 2) I ended up thinking about the contrast to Sylus's birthday where Luke and Kieran are celebrating every day of the month 'cause they don't know the specific day and they're just tickled to be able to wish him happy birthday.

Part of what is (subjectively) off-putting (to me specifically) about a lot of Caleb's content and especially No Return Night is just how callous he is towards his friends. Like when Gideon first sees him again he has ZERO compassion for like "hey so I know you thought I was DEAD and probably MOURNED me."

When MC mentions that the rest of his friends are having a party in his honor but without him there, it's like--has he told them he's alive? If so, kind of a dick move to not at least make SOME time to hang out with them, even on a different day. More likely, only Gideon knows, and MC and Caleb are just sitting there eating while his friends are mourning his death having a memorial dinner for him on his birthday.

Like... dude. I do not feel okay about that.

Not to mention MC just casually picks him up from running THE EVIL SPACE MILITARY THAT MURDERED A CHILD AND KIDNAPPED ANOTHER ONE.

But "dead to the world" is an explicit theme for them--we even see in Homecoming Wings that one of Caleb's first ideas for keeping MC safe is to tell everyone else that she died.

I think this is an artful and intentional decision that highlights the toxic nature of Caleb and MC's relationship. It's the kind of relationship that leads them to want to cut off other people--even people who care about them very much--in order to spend time only with each other.

In contrast, MC spends Sylus's birthday encouraging him to engage with others more. She wants to be at his side going out into the world, and she welcomes and cherishes the presence of Luke, Keiran, and Mephisto. The unhealthiness in Caleb x MC's relationship helps make more clear how intentional and healthy so many aspects of Sylus x MC is.

Something this has made me realize is that I've had several relationships (not romantic, but familial and professional) with people who have tried to cut me off from other people, to keep me to themselves, etc. And so I find that I have a pretty visceral avoidant/fear reaction to some of Caleb's behavior.

Which makes this good writing! Caleb's team is successfully painting a picture and what doesn't work for me is exactly what someone else is looking for, and vice versa. That sort of self-destructive obsession can be really gratifying to read.

But personally, I find that some of Caleb's content leaves me vaguely unsettled and I always learn something about myself while unpacking it, and for that I am legit grateful.

I hope we still get more Caleb yearning content now that we have cards of them "together" because that is always my favorite Caleb mode--desperately wanting something you don't feel good enough to have is deeply relatable. And I think there's a lot of threads to pull about how his self-hatred is what causes him to cut off his friends, even when they could be there for him. So I really do think there's a ton of interesting stuff to look at there, and he's well-written, it's just not always my cup of tea.

I fleetingly saw someone post about how No Return Night felt anti-climactic to them, and ofc they got a lot of disagreement in the comments, but I felt the same way. I think you can project whatever arc you want onto the card, and that's great! But I find myself preferring yearning Caleb and we don't really see any of that in No Return Night--just "all is well" Caleb and then "I'm sick of waiting" Caleb. I found myself either wanting things to be more raw (like their altercation in Homecoming Wings) or more tender (a yearning confession met with acceptance).

What I also think is really interesting and telling is that I do not have nearly as much in common with Caleb's MC as with Sylus's MC. I thought it was poignant and important that she talked about always having taken him for granted--but I just couldn't relate to that, because I had always been the eldest sibling trying to hold it together for everyone. In my own personal journey, I did the equivalent of saying "fuck you" to the Deepspace Fleet and charting my own path. I don't take kindly to ignoring the consequences of our actions and ignoring our access to leverage.

I need to face the truth, in all its ugliness, to keep moving forward and that's a large part of why I gravitate towards Sylus.

Alright, I think that's all my big thoughts. 😅

Again, these are just my personal reactions! I'm sorry for all the disclaimers, but some people will say "oh this is just me" and not really mean it and I really do mean it. 🤣 If you loved the card I love that for you!! I think we can mold and shape and fill in the blanks to these stories in our own personal way, and that is 100% valid and intended. Things that feel like gaps to me may feel complete to you and I actually think that's fascinating and really cool! I know the same thing happens with Sylus and he just clicks with my brain more so it all makes sense. (He's also intentionally written as a "healthier" character.)

How would their fashion sense and style change?

For the genderbent tkdb event hosted by @cloudcountry featuring Fem!Luca. This post has a drawing in it since I couldn't contain myself. I just seriously hope that tumblr does not screw over my drawing that much, my pencil already does that. Also, if there is any grammatical mistake, I apologize for that. I finally had the motivation to write it, it always strikes me when I am feeling sleepy and I don't want to skip a day on this event.

Lucy's fashion sense is centered around comfort and mobility. Even though she isn't too into fashion, her fashion sense is sharp enough to not make her look unflattering. Her daily wear focuses more on layering her clothes since her wardrobe tends to either have one colour or have accent colours that complement the main one. The only thing you wouldn't see in that wardrobe is anything that is particularly long and flowing. Having them in her clothes makes her feel like it might either get snagged in a branch or stray nail so she tends to avoid those unless it is for an important event.

Like her male counterpart, Lucy has a lot of cardigans and vests to go with her buttoned up shirts. When you touch one of her woolen clothes, they feel as if you are running your hands along the softest clouds on a sunny day. She is a bit particular about the material, especially the lining fabric. Since her skin is a bit sensitive towards rougher materials, it makes her skin itch after wearing it for a while so she avoids it.

She has an athletic inverted triangle build, like a gymnast. With her muscles being lean but well defined, she tends to wear clothes that complement her look. So her wardrobe would majorly consist of flared pants, structured blazers, A-line clothes, belted trenchcoats, cardigans, among others. She has maybe one or two skirts in her closet, but they would almost always be chosen over the wider and varied amounts of pants that she has. She tends to stay away from deep necks, even though it greatly complements her build, and always opts for something that wouldn't show her bust. She might wear them, but again it depends on the occasion and would very rarely wear them.

Lucy's skirt (that is folded neatly and tucked away in the corner of her wardrobe) would be a long flowy coffee-brown skirt that would have white frills at the bottom and golden embroidery on the lower hem. She, as said before, does not wear any flowing bits or skirts for the sake of her comfort and mobility. But this skirt was a gift from her parents that makes her carry it around with her all the way to Japan. She does not wear it much but whenever she does it always makes her feel closer to home, the homesickness that unconsciously bubbles within abated for a while.

Her style of dressing shines the brightest during the autumns and early winter. With her preferred styling to be layering and her favourite cloth fabric being woolen, she exudes beauty and grace with every step she takes. She has a small collection of trenchcoats that she is happy with, a particular coffee brown belted trenchcoat being her favourite. She doesn't wear caps or beret, neither a bow to accessorize her hair. She barely even has accessories to begin with, with her mission to find her lost twin and to subjugate a demon, the ones that she has is tucked away in the corner of her jewelry box back in her home. Thankfully, those rare trips using the R&R permit with fem!Kaito and male! MC are helping her gain one or two extra pieces to add to her already small collection.

Speaking of collections Lucy is proud of, she has a considerable variety of belts that she switches it up in her every day clothes. From wide to narrow, leather to cotton, and different colours, she feels like a belt finishes the look perfectly. These are the only ones that accessorize her everyday look.

Now here's the picture! This one has the skirt mentioned in the headcanons. I hope it looks decent??? Also the choice of combination.... I had such a difficult time thinking of what complements what so I hope it looks good enough to wear. It's a full body picture, which is something I am not used to so maybe it adds to the wonkiness I feel? I dunno.

Final Fantasy VIII has two option scenes that are actually canon

In Disc 2, it's not required for the player to put Rinoa in Squall's team to Balamb Garden. Instead, you can choose to send her with Selphie's team to the Galbadia Missile Base (which I've already discussed in my previous post).

If you choose to put Rinoa in Squall's team — which, as I stated before, a lot of walkthroughs on YouTube tend to do — there's an FMV of her being mesmerized by the view outside after Garden becomes mobile and she turns around to smile at Squall:

This FMV still appears during Squall's hallucinations in the ending FMV, even if you chose to put Rinoa in Selphie's team:

During the ending FMV, it doesn't make sense for Squall to try to recall this memory of Rinoa smiling at him when Garden became mobile, unless you chose to put her in his party to Balamb Garden.

Thus, choosing to put Rinoa in Squall's party, and, as such, viewing the FMV of her admiring the view, is the canon choice, because it matches up with the ending FMV.

Later on in Disc 2, you can choose for Squall and Rinoa to have a good date or a bad date at the Garden Festival in Fishermans Horizon.

The good date happens when the party plays Irish Jig/Let's Dance.

The bad date happens when the party 1) plays Eyes on Me/Maybe Yes, Maybe No, 2) mixes up the scores with two instruments each, or 3) mixes up the scores with three instruments from one piece and one instrument from the other piece.

During the bad date, Squall and Rinoa don't have a conversation about the future. Instead, she gets angry with him because she can tell he's not being sincere in his "effort" to trust the party more often, and she leaves in a huff (#1):

Or, he walks away and rejects her, and she leaves in disappointment (#2 and #3):

However, during the good date, Squall and Rinoa do have a conversation about how there are no guarantees in the future, and they find that they have something in common — they would prefer to not talk nor think about the future:

Fast-forward to the romance scene in the Ragnarok in Disc 3. Squall tells Rinoa that no one can predict the future and there are no guarantees, and reminds her that those were her words.

Squall's dialogue still happens during the Ragnarok scene, even if you chose for him and Rinoa to have the bad date:

During the Ragnarok scene, it doesn't make sense for Squall to directly reference Rinoa's words about the future not being guaranteed, unless you chose for them to have the good date.

Thus, choosing for Squall and Rinoa to have the good date at the Garden Festival is the canon choice, because it matches up with his dialogue in the Ragnarok.

TL;DR: Whether you like the couple or not (I'm aware that Squinoa is still considered divisive in some parts of the fandom, mainly the Western fandom), it's better to let their relationship progress in a positive way — by choosing to put Rinoa in Squall's party to Balamb Garden and choosing for them to have the good date at the Garden Festival in Fishermans Horizon — because both options correlate with canon events and dialogue later on in the game.

(also, before i get into this. since you are a new account, i'm going to suggest that you add some sort of profile picture and age indicator on your account. it doesn't have to be a real pic of you or anything. just something other than the default tumblr icon. we had a bot problem here, we still kinda do, so some people might just block you no questions asked. and the age indicator can just either be your age or your birth year. a lot of users either create 18+ content or just simply don't want to interact with minors so if they don't see an age at all, even if you are an adult, they'll block you. so just a heads up)

if you're on desktop/laptop you should be able to just click settings and in the middle you should see a section that looks like this and you can fix it

if you're on mobile, it's a bit more tricky because there are a lot more sections. go to your settings (if you have multiple accounts it doesn't really matter which account you do this from). click on general settings on the top. towards the bottom there should be a section that says mentions. and just click which account you want to fix the settings for if you have multiple. and click everyone can mention me and you should be set.

i had this problem with someone else before and i think it took a couple of days or hours before i was able to mention them after they fixed it. but let me know when you fix the setting, if you even need to, and i'll check. if you don't need to fix the setting you might have to wait if you're account is new. idk how long. maybe a week. maybe 30 days. if it doesn't work out for now you can either turn my post notifications on if you're okay with the spam or you can check my account every once in a while. i update my nav when i upload new chapters and posts to make it easier.

So people are talking about the artwork in Metal Slug games again

There's been a few posts going around talking about how weird the Metal Slug characters look in the mobile games, particularly female characters like Eri and especially fan favourite Fio.

This conversation comes up again every so often, but it's been reignited on Tumblr again this week with three new Metal Slug games coming onto the scene:

The recent re-reveal of the indie title Metal Slug Tactics from Dotemu, which was originally announced in 2021, during Summer Game Fest 2024,

The June 2024 Nintendo Direct shadow-drop of a revamped version of the former mobile game Metal Slug Attack as Metal Slug Attack Reloaded, and

The impending global launch of the Chinese mobile game Metal Slug: Awakening from Tencent Games next month (July 2024), which originally released in China and SEA in 2023.

Remember these three names, because this is what this post is going to primarily centre around.

However there's one version of this type of post going around that just posts artwork from Metal Slug 3 and MS: Awakening and doesn't adequately explain what the artwork actually comes from and why it looks the way it does, resulting in the confusion and bewilderment of many people who are less familiar with the Metal Slug series.

And so I decided I really need to throw my hat into the ring and see if I can dissect this and bring some actual facts to the conversation.

Look, it's not great. Basically, the stuff people are saying is indeed mostly true, but there's a lot of half-truths and even a few straight up lies being mixed into it. Such as how what the original Metal Slug games looked like is actually more complicated than people think, for starters.

Furthermore, one of the three games I mentioned actually looks really good, and oddly it seems to be the one with the least attention on it right now.

Now, because I'm me, this blog post ended up really long, long enough to have chapter markers, so please bear with me and stick around to the end if you can. — And if you don't care about the historical context, I'm happy for you just to look at the pictures too.

Part 1: The original NEOGEO Metal Slug games

So the main point of this conversation is that the classic Metal Slug games let the characters look weird and cartoony. That's a big part of Metal Slug's core identity, and this is lost in the recent mobile games.

(Of course I had to get a real CRT photo in here at some point.)

To define "classic Metal Slug" you can assume most people are referring Metal Slug 1 through to 3, i.e. the ones that SNK created before their bankruptcy in the year 2000. And most of all, that iconic character select screen from Metal Slug 2, X and 3.

As you can see, there's definitely a shift that took place here.

But hold on, Fio also looks pretty different on the arcade flyers, especially in her original debut in Metal Slug 2. So it's not exactly as clear cut at the cherrypicked images would suggest, but all the same there is still a distinct, extremely late '90s style to everything.

Metal Slug 4 and 5 also released for the NEOGEO system and are similarly loved by many, but were developed in the 2000s under the newly formed Playmore, aka SNK Playmore. I definitely agree with this sentiment that the "original identity" of Metal Slug was strongest in the early titles, and the artwork is the most noticeable reflection of that.

However, although it has little bearing on the conversation, I think it's important to clarify that this change to a contemporary anime style actually began in the early 2000s during the Playmore era of SNK. Like would happen with other SNK game series like The King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown, things got weird for Metal Slug once SNK was reborn as Playmore, eventually becoming SNK Playmore.

Still, all the mainline Metal Slug games through to Metal Slug 7 and Metal Slug XX are still considered classics by fans. The problem for a lot of fans would be SNK's push into new markets such as pachislot and mobile gaming.

Which brings us to…

Part 2: The Metal Slug smart device games, and the Chinese mobile game market

Mobile games would prove a highly lucrative market for SNK Playmore, with hundreds of titles published for Japanese phones during the '00s. A few of these also made their way to more conventional J2ME devices in China. Eventually the mobile gaming market would move to smartphones, with SNK bringing games such as Metal Slug Defense and Metal Slug Attack to market in the 2010s.

This is the first mention of China in this post and it won't be the last. SNK's arcade titles had traditionally been extremely popular in the Chinese market, and with the mobile game market rapidly growing and a hunger for bigger games from beloved SNK series, a lot of interest had grown for SNK titles in this market.

This would result in a huge investment from Chinese companies, with a new joint venture acquiring a 81% stake in the company in 2016, leading SNK Playmore to announce a new shift in their strategy, and with that came a rebrand, once again to simply SNK.

This new identity signified a new era for SNK. This newly reignited SNK would move away from non-videogame markets such as pachislot, and focus more on console games and character licensing. This is the SNK that gave us The King of Fighters XIV and a new Samurai Shodown game.

But this is also the SNK that really doubled down on the Chinese and South-east Asian mobile markets.

This is where this conversation stems from. Games such as the tower defence mobile game Metal Slug Attack and many other mobile games in series such as The King of Fighters would be massive money-makers for SNK. Even the new Samurai Shodown game on consoles/PC would centre Chinese audiences with its first DLC crossover characters pulling from Ubisoft's For Honor and Tencent's Honor of Kings.

But when it comes to centering the tastes of the mobile game market, the big one that bugs people is Metal Slug: Awakening, a mobile game developed and published under license by Tencent Games, which entered beta testing in 2021 and released in China and South-east Asia in 2023.

Now this game actually doesn't have all that much to do with SNK besides the license. However it would be disingenuous of me to say that means it's insignificant to the series. We didn't get to this point out of nowhere out of all. Plus this game is set for a global release in 2024, so this game is for all of us to enjoy.

Although, is it really for all of us? The game certainly seems to plays like a real Metal Slug game, retaining the series' famous run 'n gun gameplay, which is more than you can say for most Metal Slug mobile games. But it certainly doesn't look like a Metal Slug game. The in-game graphics are a strange 3D interpretation of the original pixel art, and all the game's promotional artwork and splash screens look like this. Fio in particular straight up looks like a different character in these pictures.

It's not great. I'm not about to try and defend this. It's just that I really need to stress that it's really not a game targeted towards us.

To make matters more confusing for a lot of people not super plugged-into Metal Slug is that it's not even the only Metal Slug game in the news recently. Metal Slug Tactics had been missing in action since 2021, and all of a sudden it gets re-revealed by Dotemu in June 2024 but overshadowed by many other announcements during the Summer Game Fest period.

But also, SNK themselves would, during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, reveal and immediately shadow-drop a revamped offline version of the Metal Slug Attack game called Metal Slug Attack Reloaded.

I actually saw a lot of people confused by this. People who remembered the initial 2021 reveal of Metal Slug Tactics and thought this was the same game. It might seem obvious to some of us, but if this is you, then I assure you, it's not the same game.

Although SNK seems to be downplaying this for some reason, Metal Slug Attack is a pretty old mobile game that went defunct last year, and this is a revamped version of it for consoles and PC that can be played offline without microtransactions. (An increasing trend I want to see more of!) The game is still very much a mobile game to its core though and you can tell.

But, look, don't worry, there's hope for us yet, in the form of a new game that many western Metal Slug fans have been excited for for many years. I've already mentioned it, it's…

Part 3: Metal Slug Tactics, a new tactical Metal Slug game from Dotemu and French developer Leikir Studio

I'm going to preface this section with a clarification of my stance on this. As a strategy game this doesn't exactly scream classic Metal Slug. However, a few people have been lumping this in with the mobile games and I think that's pretty unfair.

For starters, this game is oozing with personality and really looks like it's developed by people who truly understand Metal Slug.

Second, the artwork in this game is clearly a very different beast from what can be seen in Metal Slug: Awakening.

Obviously this isn't the same as the funny looking characters you remember from the in-game graphics of the NEOGEO titles. I still however feel like this captures the spirit of these beloved characters better than any of the mobile games have. This is definitely along the lines of Sonic Mania or TMNT: Shredder's Revenge in terms of attention to detail, and that's especially reflected by how the actual game looks and moves in action.

This is really my true agenda if I'm perfectly honest. Please don't sleep on this game. Even if you don't like tactics games, this is the one you want to keep an eye on if you want a true return to form for Metal Slug.

Tldr version: Open tumblr in web browser and navigate to edit bio. Copy paste "<a href="URL">Link Text</a>" into bio. Replace URL with link and Link Text with text to be displayed. Save and enjoy

Oh, hey, you stayed! Now don't worry because it's a lot simpler than you think. All it takes is a little copy/pasting and you'll be right on your way.

So first things first. You're going to have to open your internet browser. I know, I know, but unfortunately the mobile app doesn't really support this feature so internet browser it is. You're going to open up tumblr in your web browser and navigate to your bio to edit it. Now, I'm going to skip ahead and assume you know how to navigate to where you need to go to be able to edit your bio, but if you don't, then I do highly suggest reading the article linked up above. Moving on.

You're going to need to copy/paste two (2) things:

This html code (without the outer quotes) "<a href="URL">Link Text</a>" which is what will be doing all the magic for us.

The URL of whatever it is you're going to link to, including the http:// or https:// part.

Now the next part is fairly easy. You're going to paste that html code into your bio and replace the URL part with the link you want to navigate to, and the Link Text part with what you want the text to display. For example, let's say for some reason I want everyone reading my bio to go look at cute pictures of cats on reddit. I would replace the URL part with "https://www.reddit.com/r/cutecats/" and the Link Text part with "go look at cute cats"

Now this is what that code would look like after:

"<a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/cutecats/">go look at cute cats</a>"

And this is what it should look like in my bio:

And voila! You're all done! All you have to do now is hit save and you now have a custom link in your bio!

Now, you could go and customize the link even further by changing the color or making it bold or italicize it or whatever, but that's a little more advanced and a whole different tutorial.

This is probably TMI but I started masturbating at a very young age, and I remember it starting when I watched TV. Long story short, but my friend is gonna be sick for a while and can't care for their pet leopard gecko and betta fish anymore. I am not surprised lol but I do wanna find homes for these babies and they've asked me to take care of it. Honestly I would suggest Reddit? I know it doesn't sound like the obvious option, but it's the place you'll find a bunch of people collected who are knowledgeable and passionate about any given animal. /r/leopardgeckos and /r/bettafish might be helpful - I don't use them personally, but /r/beardeddragons is a solid community that sees some rehoming posts, and these ones look good too. They could probably also direct you to more local resources for your area.

Only problem with Reddit is that to post on a lot of subs you need to meet a karma requirement, which means having already had an account for a certain amount of time. Neither of those subs seem to have a karma minimum, though, so you should be good.

As a disclaimer I'm on mobile rn so I can't get any PC screenshots- For posts with pictures I will direct you stimbaordboy.

The basics are:

You choose what you're going to base your board around

Type into the search bar "[stim type/color/ect] stim"

Find a GIF, but try and find the og post though because linking back to a stimboard isn't usually well looked at

Save the GIF and the source so you can credit

Save more GIF's

Open a post, grab the images and drag them so you can order them into a 3x3 gid (doesn't need to be 3x3 as a btw, PC let's you have up to 30 GIF's)

REMEMBER TO CREDIT ACESSIBLY, Meaning do not put the credits under a read more or say "credit to the owners" or crap like that

Order the credits via linking them on emojis, symbols, text, whatever

Other tips and tricks:

Personally I would always make a stimboard on PC, on mobile I've noticed that GIF's lose their quality and look really grainy when they're looked at on PC (unsure why this happens more experimentation is needed) and it's easier to credit imo. HOWEVER I still encourage mobile users to make stimbaords. They're fun relaxing and no one really cares about this. Be yourself amd make whatever you like.

If you can't find a GIF because the op deleted there's a lot of archiving stim blogs on tumblr that can help you find the credit (stimboardboy, thegentlesourcer, deletedstimgifs, old-web-stims, stimgifarchive, stimlibrary are good blogs imo- If anyone knows of any else please lmk)

If you're just starting out with stimboard making don't jump instantly into psd making (or do. I can't stop you)

As for appearance, unless you’re really looking you might notice the fangs. And for the most part, assume she’s wearing her signature sunglasses covering her eyes since those rarely are taken off in public.

While not usually brought up, but Kar has attempted to end her life and self-harmed. Nowadays it’s usually just masked with fatalistic humor, recreational drug use, and lots of drinking. 

There will be mentions of Nazis particularly of the occult sort, so if that makes you uncomfortable please feel free to step away.

So I've been thinking about Pokémon. I do that a lot. My inner Zoobooks kid demands it. But recently I was rewatching some of the old anime for Reasons and realized the games exist in universe as some sorta goofy edutainment simulator. Made me start thinking about 'what if the games oversimplify pokémon biology like Odell's Lake and the like oversimplify real world biology' and uh. With all due gratitude to @bogleech (who does reviews for pokemon designs that I adore) and the nature YouTubers I consume daily.

I would like to yell at you about Bulbasaur a little, Tumblr.

So imma get real nerdy real fast here. I love me some speculative extrapolation.

First off let's look at one of the official game designs real quick.

Okay, so, a sauroid design--I know that seems obvious from the name but hold on here, I have a point.

So here we have a large quadrapedal exotherm with obvious green coloration. Not just dull green, bright green. Given the species line is famous for learning Solar Beam, an attack that necessitates gathering sunlight and transforming it into an attack, we can probably be safe in assuming a lot of that green is chlorophyll, making this a rare non-marine vertebrate capable of using chlorophyll to produce energy for itself. And, occasionally, to gather enough energy to tell predators to step off.

The bulb and the... well, the 'saur, appear to be a package deal, but the bulb is not only distinct from the main body, it may be the primary source of its Grass typing, with the Poison typing belonging to the sauroid hefting that bulb around. That kinda distinction leads me to believe the bulb doesn't naturally grow on the Bulbasaur, and may be the result of a parent or sufficiently trained human implanting the seed for the bulb in its back. Meaning the body can have a set of two genetic parents while the bulb can have genetics coming from any flowering plants of that species in whatever area they're born to.

I wonder if the sauroids without bulbs are capable of surviving on their own or if this was an adaptation out of necessity. Like how megafauna in our actual world died off when the ecosystem could no longer support their energy needs. Are the bulbs needed to get to their size, leaving unaided young smaller to survive without the energy boost? If they were smaller and had weaker skin without the Grass-type boosting, I can see them being analogous to venomous toads. If they're needed for survival, it implies strong social ties, possibly entire colonies or troops of their evolutionary line, in order to provide new 'Saurs with their bulb seeds.

Also, if the two parts of the Bulbasaur are distinct, that implies the bulb is supplementing a diet that was already supporting the animal body. Given the name of the final evolution is Venusaur, I'm going to assume insects, probably birds and rodents once it grows larger and slower.

I'm almost entirely sure this thing lives in and around rainforests and jungles. Lots of moisture and sunlight for the chlorophyll and lots of biodiversity (to feast upon). It also fits with the assumed venomous amphibian origin.

I'm going to assume one of the oversimplifications is the evolution system, and that means the Bulbasaur, as pictured above, is a recognized and therefore official species for use in pokémon sport. There's probably all manner of variants not officially recognized, like ones that don't have their bulb, or who had their bulb seed malform somewhere along the line, or shift position in a way that hinders mobility. It also indicates a Bulbasaur that's battle ready can also lay or sire eggs, though without a ready support system, they're reliant on human aid to properly raise their young with bulbs. Based on body plan and energy requirements, I'm guessing covered nest with between one and three eggs, warm, kept damp, so the heat equally incubated the eggs. When they hatch, the young are kept hydrated and tucked away while a seed is implanted in their soft backs. Eventually, they are exposed more and more to the sunlight and the energy from that and catches brought to the nest helps them grow quickly until the adorable little starter beasts we so love.

So I was poking around through my followers list and I noticed that there are a few of you who have no title, no profile picture, no custom site and no bio who do have enough likes to make me think you might be a real person and not a bot. If you are indeed a real person, please read this post.

If I click on you and your blog looks like this:

you look like a bot, yes even if you have a substantial amount of likes.

It is very easy to make yourself look human, and because I'm feeling helpful and chatty today, I'm going to show you how to do that, with screenshots. I even went on this site in safari where I don't have dashboardunfucker set up to take these screenshots, so you know I'm feeling good today.

Step 1:

In your sidebar go to "account" highlighted in blue below:

Step 2:

Select your blog in the drop down. (There are a bunch of blogs on mine because I have multiple junk side blogs.) For the purpose of this exercise I made a brand new blank one called imtotallyabot56789.

Step 3:

Go to "blog settings" in the right hand sidebar. This will take you to a new page.

Step 4:

On that new page, select "edit appearance".

Step 5:

Get to editing! I've highlighted for you the 4 most important things you need to change to not be a bot.

Those things are:

your icon

your header

your title & bio

you banner/bio colors

Some notes:

Your banner can be a .gif, a .png or a .jpg. It is best at a 16:9 ratio. I can't remember how big mine was, but a little bit bigger is better so that it displays decently on desktop and on mobile.

Your icon/profile picture should be a square. I think it displays at 128x128, but I don't know for sure. Use a bigger image than that though. Mine is apparently 886x886 at 72 ppi. Don't pick a photo of yourself unless there's something interesting about it (ie: you're in cosplay or something) because a regularass photo of a person looks like a bot as well. If you don't know what to pick, you can head over to picrew and use an icon generator there to create an icon. There are a lot of fun options. If you want to design your own and don't have photoshop or something like that, check out photopea which is an in browser photoshop clone. Have fun with this -- pick a character you like or a pretty image. Like whatever you want just don't stick with the default one. Use either a jpg or a png.

Your title doesn't have to be that deep. Or descriptive. A lot of people use lines from books, music, poetry, tv or movies for theirs. Mine is related to Elizabeth Warren ("Nevertheless She Persisted"). I've previously used "Death Cannot Stop True Love" and "This could be a little more sonic"

Your bio also doesn't have to be long or, like describe anything super detailed about you. The beauty of tumblr dot hell is that it is one of the more anonymous social media sites out on the internet. You could literally just put something like "Fandom Lurker". Just have something.

The banner/bio colors just change the color of the border around your header image/icon "background" and the accent color.

Step 6:

Some additional basic (optional) things to do:

Enable "Custom Theme". This gives you an actual website rather than the dumb little tumblr dot com/blog/yourblognamehere thing that you get by default. The advantages to having an actual yourblognamehere dot tumblr dot com website are numerous. I made a whole post about that with instructions on how to do that. (note that the screenshots in that post were made before the tumblr layout change that was tumblr staff copying twitter's homework). A big benefit to having your own site is that it is easier to find tagged posts on a site because the default search that tumblr has on the /blog/yourblognamehere thing is hot flaming garbage and pulls posts that don't have that tag whilst also missing ones that do. with a yourblognamehere dot tumblr dot com site you can simply go to yourblognamehere(dot)tumblr(dot)com/tagged/mycooltag and see all the tagged posts. Dooo this. you know you want to doooo this.

2. Open your ask box and turn off tumblr affiliate links. Asks can be fun. They can also be terrible. You can always turn them off later if you decide that people are being mean to you. Personally I have not had that problem in the 12 years I've been here. Maybe it's just the relative obscurity of this blog? who knows. glad for that though.

3. Add some featured tags.

This is a newer setting but I think it's fun. If you make posts (or reblog lots of posts) you can add a few tags that you use very often to this as little shortcuts for people visiting your blog.
