robin loves to spend valentines day with you. she gets you a pretty bouquet of flowers that she picked out just for you. to be honest, she spent a while pondering which flowers you'd like the best and even asked the botanist about what each flower meant in the language of flowers.

firefly is very excited, getting you a box of candy to show her appreciation and love towards you. she takes you to her secret spot as a date spot so you both won't get interrupted by anyone else. it's honestly the perfect spot to settle down together and have a little picnic.

black swan is delighted when you present her a gift for valentines. she accepts it gracefully and opens it with a smile when she sees what's inside. she can't help but cherish whatever gift you might have gotten her.

hanabi (sparkle) is surprised when you give her a gift for valentines. are you sure that's really meant for her? well, if you say so! she's not opposed to valentines day but it's not really her thing. she will try to gift you something in return later in the day.

acheron didn't even remember it was valentines day but has a soft smile on her face when you present her with a gift. she's set on getting something as a gift for you as well but can't seem to find the right thing that she wants to give you. she just can't decide on the perfect valentines day gift.

You could do a lot with them, that's for sure! Here are what the Aristocats family looks like, for those that don't know/can't remember.

It's possible, very possible actually, ESPECIALLY with the fact that we don't know the sire. That is a lot of creative freedom I can work with. I'll go into depth on each kitten's genetics below the cut :)

I want to have fun with this. If you know a bit about cat genetics, you'll quickly see how convoluted I make these answers because genetics are fun. Silly kitties with their silly genes and I will have FUN damnit!

Duchess's white is epistatic over everything. That means, we can really go crazy with what is under there. Eumelanin colors, red, tabby, solid, inhibitor, it can be whatever.

Therefor, I'm calling her a (technical) cryptic tortie. Below are the expressions I've decided to give her.

I'll keep her black locus blank, as that will be affected by the sire. I'll be doing them last, so it'll be done last too.

Now, if you look at Berlioz, you'll notice something. He has a lighter gray stomach! That means I have to give him inhibitor at some point. You can also see this on Toulouse! However, since he is red, I'm passing it off as tabby. No inhibitor for him.

Marie is easy, so I'll just do her right now. The only note I have is that the sire HAS to be L/l in order for Marie to stay longhaired.

To stay as close to canon, Berlioz must have:

This means that we know EXACTLY what the sire has to have. It has to not have white, and have inhibitor. It's quite simple! However, I like to have fun.

Since Miraculous Ladybug is becoming for more mature audiences it should split povs between Marinette and Adrien. Its upsetting how Adrien has such a main character backstory yet he's not apart of it or a major character in the show even though he feels like it. It feels like he should be Marinette's costar but he's treated as some guy most of the time. I get that Marinette's the main character but still Adrien feels so wasted on. Honestly he kinda reminds me of Steven Universe. Dead mom, complex with not being entirely human, well meaning but absent dad(Gabriel's hearts was in the right place but just went down hill). Like when Adrien finds out about the whole sentimonster thing imagine the identity crisis he's gonna have. I also wonder what they're gonna do with Emilie. She's not dead anymore and she was the driving force for why Gabriel did what he did. I wonder if she's gonna be a good mom or if the fan theories are right and she's just as bad if not worse then Gabriel. Rose haunted the narrative because she was so important if it wasn't for her and her actions we probably wouldn't even have Steven Universe or the many momswap aus. But after Gabriel got all the Miraculouses Emilie felt kinda of forgotten and last minute when she was talked about.

Are there any other shows that you sometimes compare Miraculous too?

I don't think that Miraculous is aiming at more mature audiences now unless there was some announcement that I missed? If anything, I'm expecting season six to tone things back down because I'm guessing that it's going to be a soft reboot. New main villain, new animation style, new school, the signs are all there.

Shows rarely ever change their target audience like that. It's just too risky a move. You have to redo the marketing and somehow convey to parents that the show is no longer safe for their child as it's aimed at teens now. But anyone who wants a more serious show for teens isn't going to want to sit through the first five seasons which were not written like a serious show for teens, so the audience for this would be the small subsection of viewers who want to watch their childhood favorite get more serious.

While that's certainly a demographic, it's not the massive one you get when you stick to anyone ages five-and-up. Since five-and-up is also where the toy sales are and Miraculous has a lot of tie-in toys, it would be pretty wild if they abandoned that demographic at this point. I dug up an old tweet that I remembered seeing to give my warning some extra backing. For full context, this was in reply to a tweet asking if the writers consider the teen audience when writing the show:

This tweet is admittedly over two years old and anything is technically possible, but I would strongly caution you against having expectations for more serious content unless you know something that I don't. The show was originally sold to investors, distributors, and so on as a kids show and, unless they were able to renegotiate those agreements, it's going to stay a kids show.

I'd also caution you against assuming that Emilie is alive. I thought that was where the show went, too, but statements from the writers have made it pretty clear that Emilie is well and truly dead, which further supports my soft reboot theory. Bringing her back means a stronger tie to the previous seasons and you don't want that for a soft reboot.

Please don't read this as me praising that writing choice! I think it was stupid as hell to magically bring back Nathalie while killing off Emilie. They were both dying and only one of them is a domestic terrorist who actively chose death by knowingly using the broken Miraculous. The other is a Good And Pure Soul Who Was Too Perfect For This Cruel World (or, at least, that's what the show seems to want us to think). Plus, if you're going to use the wish, do something big! Change the status quo! But that's not how formula shows work so they probably couldn't do that.

Quick side note: this is my best guess as to why the leaked scripts indicated that Emilie was going to come back when season five ended the show. Series finales are usually allowed include elements that would ruin the formula if the show continued because the show isn't continuing. Season finales are not allowed to do that because the next season needs to stick to the same formula. When season five went from end-of-show to a mere end-of-season, that probably signed Emilie's death warrant. Sorry Adrien, no happy ending for you! Hope you like being an orphan!

Moving on!

In my opinion, it feels like they only used the wish to let Gabriel die and get rid of Emilie without it being too traumatic for the indented audience, but it's still basically a murder suicide being treated as a happy ending which is wild! At least it was a pretty one where the murderer and his victim ascended into the light?

We admittedly might see larger impacts from the wish next season as we don't explicitly know what the wish was, but have they ever let a season finale lead to something interesting? Not really, so I don't see why that would change now. I'm not even sure if Adrien's sentistatus is going to come up again. It should, but it may also just fizzle out because the writers don't know how to deal with it. The sentimonster thing is not the kind of plot point that you can handle in 20 minutes, especially when you have to include some sort of akuma fight, too. Bringing up the sentistuff would also complicate a soft reboot so, yeah, I have no idea if they're ever going to touch it again.

As far as recs for shows like Miraculous go, I'm afraid that you'll have to be a little more specific about what you're looking for because Miraculous is trying and failing to be a lot of things. If you want a duo show with a lot of banter, a badass female lead, and a goofy-but-narratively-important male lead, then I'd point to Kim Possible. If you want a team show with romantic undertones, then Teen Titans is a good pick. If you want identity shenanigans, magic, and romance, then American Dragon Jake Long might be worth checking out in spite of the very dated slang, though fair warning that one is enemies to lovers. It's done in a very fun way, but it's not a partner show like Miraculous kind of is and the romance is also not the main focus.

Part of the reason I was drawn to Miraculous is that shows about superheroes don't tend to have a strong romance element to them, so there aren't a ton of options for me to give you when it come to shows that fill a similar niche. However, if you're willing to go into the realms of fanfic, then you've got a wealth of options. Pretty much any property with secret identities will have fics about identity shenanigan romances. Love squares are nothing new. I've been reading them for years! I basically watched Twelfth Night when I was about eight and never looked back. Identity shenanigans or bust!

People will even bring them into fandoms that don't have any secret identities because identity shenanigans are really fun to play with! They make for some of the best romances. I'm sure that you can also find them in novels, but it's not something I've seen a lot of, so I mostly stick to fanfic for my identity shenanigan needs. That's where almost all my recs are from.

Should I do a fanfic plug to demonstrate what I mean? Yeah, why not. This baby deserves more readers and, if you like Miraculous, then you'll probably love this. (Seriously, if you read it, feel free to come talk to me about it. It's so good and also proof that I really am drawn to very specific tropes. What can I say other than I know what I like?)

We Didn't Start The Fire by ohhgingersnaps

Ava is all burned out, literally— she’s an exhausted JojaCo employee by daylight, and pyrokinetic superhero The Phoenix by moonlight, until she accidentally starts a fire at work and has to blame it on her superpowered alter-ego to avoid being discovered. The Phoenix is forced into early retirement, and with nothing else to lose, Ava moves to her grandfather’s old farm for a new start. Between restoring the farm, resolutely bottling all of her feelings, and trying to keep her powers under wraps, Ava has a lot on her plate. She’ll figure it out. Eventually. She hopes. Meanwhile, the hacker Memento, Phoenix’s good friend and confidant, is left to pick up the pieces alone after her sudden disappearance. He’s fully convinced that she didn’t start the fire, and he’s determined to discover the truth and clear her name... As long as he doesn’t fall for the pretty new farmer down the road, first. Part superhero AU, part mental health recovery arc, and part rom-com, topped with a generous serving of secret identity love square shenanigans, hurt/comfort, shameless flirting and banter, and dramatic irony.

I've mentioned before that I don't like OC main characters. Video games are the one exception to that rule. I'm really not big on reader inserts (no judgement, just personal preference), so when I read fanfic for a video game with a self-insert type main character, I'm looking to read about people's fully developed OCs, but I also want a good deal of the focus to be on the game's characters as they're the only reason I'm looking for stuff to read. That's what this fic is and I love it!

I also wouldn't normally rec fanfic for properties outside of Miraculous since this is specifically a Miraculous blog, but this is Stardew Valley fanfic, which is why I picked it over fic from other, more complex properties. If you don't know that game, it's a farming sim whose cast is developed enough for you to get attached to them, but who don't have a ton of depth, so you can read this sucker without having touched the game because there's no deep lore here. The game dev is apparently pretty open about the fact that he kept lots of things about the characters ambiguous so you could read things like their relationships and ages in whatever way makes you happy. Only prep work I might recommend is reading the character summaries from the game's wiki and you'd only need to do that for the named characters.

As I said above, fics like this are where I get my more-serious-story-with-identity-shenanigan-included itch scratched and are what I'd recommend looking for in either fanfic or original fiction form if that's what you like as TV shows just don't seem to have this kind of content, probably because TV shows often draw plot lines out to maximize views while novel-style stories generally have a clear end goal, which is why it can be hard for TV romances to feel satisfying. However, there are certainly a ton of TV shows that I haven't watched, so if anyone has recs for anon, then feel free to drop a comment or give this a reblog with your rec list.

What is this event? - Hero and Partner Week is a fan event focusing on the hero and partner characters from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.

When is Hero and Partner Week held? - The first week of June, usually!

Who are the mods? - @smilepebble (Ray, she/they, 20's). That's me! I am the main mod of this event. @haunted-skitty-doll (Robin, she/her, 20's) is a very close friend of mine who occasionally mods whenever I am unable to.

How do I submit a post? - You can either @ this account in your post, tag it as #heropartnerweek, or submit it via the submit button on desktop.

Can I use any hero and partner team? - Yes, you can use your hero and partner characters from any game. This also includes ROM hacks and OC stories!

Can I switch what hero and partner we use throughout the week? - You can switch what hero and partner you use, or just stick with one team. Whichever you want!

What mediums can I use? - Any medium you like: visual art, writing, music, photography, etc.

Do I have to participate every day? - Nope! Feel free to do as many or as few days as you like.

Can a submission involve multiple prompts? - Yes!

Can I submit multiple times a day? - Also yes!

[Hello again, everyone! Kind Words speaking! Nice to finally come out of hiding!

Words really can't begin to express how much I feel for this silly little video game blog and everybody involved in this experience. Yes - it has been an experience, wholeheartedly. And despite my position being, well, me, I even extend my gratitude to those of you who were relentlessly mean, LMAO. (Looking at you, screaming anon! I forgive you. /silly) After all, it's the subpar stuff that makes the good stuff... well, good, right? It really feels like we've developed our own special little microcommunity here, even if we aren't always talking directly to one another. I know I'm not the only one who kept tabs on all the other "regulars" who came around!

And speaking of keeping tabs on regulars... I am sincerely floored by all of the attention my own persona has garnered. As someone with a dead blog, who has never had any kind of internet following whatsoever, the amount of love and adoration that came from you all for Robin (aka Kind Words) was nearly overwhelming at times. My characters mean everything to me - so to know there was even just a handful of other people who loved her and her blossoming relationship with Curly - I can't begin to express my gratitude for it. I'll always cherish any of the sweet acknowledgements, messages, and art thrown our way from Mod, Curly, and you guys.

When I first starting getting more emotionally invested here, one of my friends actually warned me well not to let it "get to my head." I assuredly had no intention of such a thing - but I'm glad it did anyway! It's funny how something so small with no real intention of going anywhere can turn into a thing that takes up an unprecedented amount of your life! I'm sure Mod felt the same way when starting this blog, too.

I hadn't quite finished getting all of my thoughts out by the time Judgement came, but that will have to suffice for now - you all know how much I can yap and yap if you'll let me! Thank you again, to everyone, so much. We'll meet again in Oz, sweet pea. ♡]

Re: Anon (Your message disappeared!)

While I understand the desire to represent the "canonical" women of the series, I made the deliberate decision to include trans headcanons and genderbent expressions of characters because at the end of the day: trans women and nb folk may relate to these characters, and want to express them in a way that speaks to their experience. There are a limited number of trans women in the series, and by limiting it to canonical representation, I think we're making a statement about womanhood and gender that doesn't align with our beliefs.

It's not my belief that writing about, for example, a transwoman HC Sanji takes away from any other girl in the series. If we limited it in this way, the creative expression of our diverse community could be really stifled. More importantly, this way of thinking really lends itself to TERFisms and transphobia. That doesn't slide here - if you don't like it, don't sign up for it.

Vecna was dead which was a good thing, but that also meant, no gates. How was he going to get out? “Chrobin (Chrom x player character) is so many tropes in one oml. You have friends-to-lovers (Chrom and Robin are canonically best friends according to Nintendo), enemies-to-lovers (Robin is heir to the Grimleal cult, the enemy of the Halidom of Ylisse which Chrom is the prince, and later king, of), there's amnesia, time travel, official next-gen AUs, changed dialogue to lore important events in the game if you marry Chrom, and Nintendo keeps teasing us with the ship. Cheery prince who knows when to be serious, very strategically smart but very bad at communicating, a guy that can comfort you when you're down, make a fool of himself when you're not around, and he's just generally a very sweet guy. Also please consider the fact that you get to watch a cutscene of him dying in the prologue and despite the horrors he's just so supportive of the protagonist. Chrom doesn't care about where you came from or who you're related to, he cares for YOU. He gets KILLED by the protag and he reassures them that they did nothing wrong and pleads with them to get out, to a safe place. I lost my soul to Chrom, I physically can't play this game without romancing him.”

“He eats oranges with the peel still on, he's an absolute himbo. Also the writers accidentally made his daughter canonically trans so he definitely supports trans rights. And technically you can only marry him if you play as female Robin but their dynamic is still just as romantic if you play as male Robin (they literally call each other their other half and m!Robin and Chrom have a valentine's day duo unit in the gatcha, and in the anthology manga m!Robin asks Chrom to make polygamy legal so he can also marry Chrom's wife and they can be a family) so most people play the game with the gay mod so they can still marry him as a guy. He's incredibly stupid ("yeah, let's set all our ships on fire then walk through a volcano, you're so smart, Robin" "I know you've had prophetic visions about killing me and our daughter came from the future to warn us it would happen but I'm sure THIS TIME it won't because of the power of our bonds") but also really sweet. In the summer DLC they're fighting on a beach and when he sees Robin get excited over a weird creature they found he immediately forgets about the battle and starts trying to make a bunch of crafts (and failing) and cooking food (and failing again) and writing "Chrom and Robin were here" in the sand so that Robin could have some nice beach memories. I'm obsessed with this man”

It's almost October, and that means Jilytober is right around the corner! We're making some slight modifications to the JilyExpress from last year—this year, it's all in the Jilytober Discord, so you'll need to join to participate (you can do so by sending an ask to the JilytoberFest Tumblr account for a link).

What is the JilyExpress?

The JilyExpress is a collaborative fic writing event, also sometimes known as a round-robin writing event.

How does the JilyExpress work?

In the Jilytober Discord, we will have two simultaneous JilyExpress threads going- a General thread, and (if there's interest) an M rated thread.

On October first, a mod will start the threads with a message no longer than 3 sentences. From there, anyone can jump in and add onto the story, 3 sentences at a time.

There is no length of time to wait to post another addition onto someone else's continuation of the story once it gets going, we only ask that you let 2 other people post after you before you take another turn.

We'll keep the threads going all month long!

The JilyExpress is open to anyone! Writers, readers, artists—if you want to try your hand at writing in a very low-stakes (potentially high chaos) environment, then board the JilyExpress!

Modern An Oracle's Odyssey AU meetings; Strawhat Edition

Luffy

Found Cass after they got lost they day they arrived for their exchange program

Imprinted on them like a baby bird

Zoro

Luffy heard of a local 'sword fighting' competition and thought of Cass's stories so he dragged Cass there

Saw Zoro and his weird way of sword fighting (three sword style) and thought it was the coolest and decided he needed to meet Zoro

Zoro thought the two weirdo's who came up to him after a competition were weird but fun and stuck with them

Nami

Cass and Luffy passed by while she almost got mugged

The two ended up knocking the guy out and taking her for food to make sure she was okay

Decided to stick around for safety purposes but got attached

Usopp

He and Cass have an art class together and got paired for a project

They actually became friends after the fact when Cass cursed out the teacher for being a dick to him

Got dragged into the friend group

Sanji

The group attended a cooking class Sanji was apart of (his adopted dad was the person running it) and was misfortunate enough to get paired up with Luffy

Cass talked to him afterwards to say thank you and he got absorbed into the friendship because Luffy liked his vibes

Chopper

Spends a lot of time at his adoptive mom's hospital, which the Strawhats tend to frequent because they're always getting in trouble

At one point he started helping out with their injuries because they were around so often and they didn't mind him practicing on them

Ended up communally adopted as the little brother of the group

Robin

Frequents the same library as Cass

Ended up helping them research history for a story they wanted to write and ended up just hanging out with them because she thought they were adorable

Franky

Works at the local mechanics shop

Was the person who consistently fixed up Usopp's van (the Merry) until the old thing finally gave out (not suprising considering the amount of times the Strawhats wrecked it)

Ended up modding out a new van (that Cass paid for) and sticking around

Brook

Local crytpid and musician

Met the Strawhats when they were out ghost hunting and thought they were a fun group and ended up hanging around

Jimbei

Runs a local activist group and charity that Cass consistently donated to focused on marine life (and other things)

Ended up as the groups guide when Cass won a trip to the local aquarium at a charity auction

Somehow ended up adopted by the group before the end of the tour

Someone said it was Rare Pair Week so you know that I, a mod in a Discord server dedicated to exactly that, was on it.

1065 words; I tried really hard to avoid reusing characters in a single edition of these prompts but sorry not sorry I got the brainrot and you all are getting Law twice (thrice if you’re also keeping up w/the Pride version of these; ch. 1055 was Date Night for these two you can’t change my mind; I missed LawBin Day on 6/6 so here is penance

Day Six: Secrets | Confessions - LawRobin [1065 words; T+]

It was late as Law and Robin were down in the secret chamber underneath Wano, studying its Road Poneglyph. The pair were going over papers compiled of notes that they had made with Sukiyaki’s help—the elderly man had already come back twice with more paper and ink, as well as a snack for them all. He was now sleeping in the kokeshi doll room, having decided it was better to sleep while guarding the chamber’s entrance than to sleep when a sneak-attack would be too late to stop.

“This is honestly incredible,” Law said. He was standing as he looked at a few pages of translations in his hands, hat and coat draped on the hilt of his sword as it leaned against a mossy railing. A pair of reading glasses sat perched on his nose while he read in the low light. “…and you’ve just… known this…?”

“Not this specific information, but how to interpret it, yes,” Robin replied. She was knelt down at the corner of the Poneglyph, finishing off another rubbing as her Devil Fruit helped her hold the giant sheet together with a multitude of hands. “This is what got me my bounty as a child.”

“I believe it.” He compared the notes to a piece of paper that another one of her arms passed him. “The only reason we’re not dead because of this is because we’re in Wano.”

“We’re in Wano and the imperial family has taken a liking to us.”

“That too,” he admitted. Law sat on a stool that Sukiyaki had brought down, his right leg bouncing on the ball of his foot as he continued comparing the pieces. “How many other people know this?”

“Not many,” she admitted. “I can imagine there are little pockets of people here and there who learned from Ohara’s example and don’t advertise their knowledge, so aside from Sukiyaki, myself, and now you… it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a few hundred people who know this in secret pockets all over the globe—a thousand at-most. Almost everyone I’ve encountered who lives near a Poneglyph are completely ignorant of their secrets.”

“…and let me guess: it’s ‘almost’ because of our current benefactors?”

“Perceptive.” Robin glanced over at Law and smirked at the intensity in which he was studying. It reminded her of a few times she caught him pouring over books with Chopper, both medical professionals glad there was finally someone else to commiserate with. “You pick things up quickly.”

“I have to, given field work is a tricky thing,” he admitted. “There’s not a lot of leeway for researching how to piece together bodies while also managing a gut wound, malnutrition, and intense fatigue… and that’s just one example.”

“Mmm; so you need to catch on quickly and be able to do a variety of things or else your patients will die.”

“Right. I’m not in a clinic somewhere, picking and choosing patients based on how well their issues mesh with my specialization. I’m just impressed you learned how to read this as a child.”

“You learned medical terminology as a child.”

“That’s different.” His face grew hot with blush—she had him there. “Jargon is one thing, being multilingual is another, but this is a dead language… a dead writing system… it’s impressive.”

“Then don’t sell yourself short,” she replied. Robin stood and brushed the dirt from her kimono, watching as her extra hands folded the rubbing paper and dissipated. “A challenge is a challenge.”

“This is a challenge to the world.”

“It’s a challenge to Marie Geoise.” Law looked up to see that Robin was now standing directly in front of him. She ran a hand through his hair, starting from the front and moving back, then down and back until she was cupping his jaw. “This is not idle information—are you willing to stand against them with me?”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

“My crew burned their flag for me and it was treated as more than just a piece of charred cloth. Meanwhile, they don’t know what goes on within Wano. You can still back out and deny any plausible connection to this… you can still say it was only me.”

“Now why would I do that?” he posed. “They know I’ve spent this kind of time with you and I’d get a boost to my bounty from their jealously alone.”

“Good to hear you say that.” She sat down on his lap, causing his leg to stop bouncing as it held her weight. He went to take off his glasses and she stopped him, threading their fingers together as her other arm rested along his shoulders. “You look good like this.”

“N-No I don’t,” he stuttered. He rested the hand still holding papers against her back as he worked his other hand free, shakily taking off the eyeglasses before looking her directly in the eyes. “I’m nothing compared to you.”

“Sure you are.” Robin leaned down and pressed her lips against Law’s, lingering as she broke the kiss. “Do you need to be taught that as well?”

“You already said I’m a good student.” His voice cracked slightly as he tried to quickly think ahead to how he thought this night might go, the front of his jeans feeling tighter with each possibility. The corner of his mouth twisted up in a smirk, daring her as he decided it was worth the risk to shoot his shot. “I’m ready for the final exam.”

“I don’t know about that,” she hummed before kissing him again. “I think you need some more practice… remedial by the looks of it.”

“Good thing I’ve never gotten a low mark in my life.” Law passed the papers and eyeglasses to extra pairs of Robin’s hands, which freed up his own to reach up and cradle her face before pulling her into another kiss, this one warming them both from the inside out. He felt her fingers grip his shoulder, thread through his hair, hold him from falling off the stool, feel his arms and legs and chest. She moved to straddle his lap and he moaned; damn it felt good, making out while he was hard and she was warm and it made their heads spin.

For all they cared, their benefactor could keep sleeping in the kokeshi doll room—they had better things to do for the time being.
