I cleaned up my paperdoll file for Cnidaria! all canon outfits to the campaign so far, Lv 1-4 Chainmail, Lv 5-current Splint, the Faewilds Party Dress she almost died in, BALD, undies she does wear around the house, and an a no armor look. mostly its soooo fun to make different hairstyles and makeup looks for her so I'll probably do more later!!!
#Cnidaria Xochi#Dnd fighter#5wishes dnd#5wishes#Dnd oc#Water Genasi#the bald look without coral is so scary tbh lmao#I gotta do more non armor looks now that I finished the hard parts of her canon armor. yippeee#almost all of it is modular as i could manage so theres a SHIT ton of layers to make hair#makeup and outfit components mix and match-able to an extent#Daria is a maximalist aesthetically#I still gotta add layers for her back pack and weapons tho so even this are wips technically

I have made
the rough
of an improv card game
#It's late and I'm feeling impulsive it's fine#My subconsious offered a story-driven randomized roleplay game in a dream last night#The dream version was obviously fancier but for a rough draft it is cute as fuck#Made with two pieces of paper (I just realized I can make more cards from the scrap of one of them heeheehoohoo)#I've made the board and 12 cards as the starter pack and they're all adorable#The board is just a simple L-shaped grid with seven spaces - the dream version had something close to double that#I think making it modular/with expansions similar to card packs (lol) would make it infinitely replayable and expandable#Not that a longer game with more players would necessarily be more fun but it's still something you could do! Lol#Recommended number of players on the current model is 3+ with one of the players acting as the GM#The full version is also 3+ but with a little more wiggle room for early game - I think it could comfortably host 5+ including the GM?#Anyway the plot is a whodunit where the third player (including the GM) plays as the murderer - their goal is to get away with the murder#While the other players' goal is to find out who did it and why and then apprehend the criminal#It's not as set in stone as Clue - like there's no murder weapons or necessary locations - all that part is improv#The cards are all either Character or Location cards - Characters are easy to understand archetypes that the player has to embody#But depending on the order players draw cards determines what role they play in the story - so say they pull the Mad Scientist card#If they pull first then the Mad Scientist is the host of the party that the murder occurs at - if they pull second then the Scientist dies#And so on#So anyway I finished all the art for the Characters (9) and Locations (3) and they're all adorable I love them#I tried to make most of them gender neutral or at least open to interpretation but a couple of them lean a bit more one way#It'd be silly but the idea of special edition cards with alternate art to lessen the disappointment of getting a double sounds fun haha#Anyway - I'm gonna see if I can playtest it tomorrow :)

In your general appreciation of nature, I am curious about your take on this - do you believe nature has reached "peak complexity"?
There was a time without flying animals. There was a time without land animals. There was a time without vertebrates, without segmented exoskeletons, without fur, without feathers, without complex social structures, without eyes. There was a time without plants, or any kind of photosythesis. There was a time without multicellular life.
But at this point, do you feel nature on planet Earth has evolved all "milestones" there are (and from now on, all additional complexity will have come from civilization, one way or another)?
I mean in terms of potential, assuming for a moment "nature" of some kind still exist during the next billion years or so.
Yes or No would be enough (lol), but of course spec evo ideas would be even cooler!
Nah I think there's absolutely infinite things nature could evolve some day that we can't even imagine. You really never know. Like it's 100% biochemically possible for something to "breathe fire;" there just has to be a sequence of mutations and the right competition to gradually make it happen, possibly starting with something that sprays boiling hot compounds like a bombardier beetle. I could also imagine a whole class of animals evolving like the modular people from All Tomorrows, because we already have Siphonophores. It's just a matter of something evolving to be a colony that can also come apart and keep functioning. I'm also obviously obsessed with the concept of a creature that weaponizes its own little symbiotic bugs, since I've used that a million times. Like maybe millions of years from now, a descendant of sloths will have upgraded from being full of moths to being full of tiny wasps? And then what if that's so effective they actually start diversifying like crazy and there's a whole era dominated by mammaloid wasp nest beasts ranging from grazers merely cleaned and guarded by their insects to predators who hunt with their assistance. Plant/animal physical symbiosis is also another thing that's not really taken off outside a few insects. Why shouldn't a plant some day decide it likes growing on some kind of animal's body? It's not a plant, but lichens grow on a species of weevil. It's so rare there aren't even photos, but I swear I saw video of one on BBC when I was a kid:

What if a moss adapts just to the shell of some big reptile and eventually the reptile starts to derive sustenance from it too?? Over time what if this evolves into basically real life Bulbasaurs, where the animal part can be sustained off sunlight? It'd just have to slow its animal metablism way, waaay down to meet the plant halfway. Maybe it hibernates for years and years at a time or spends decades developing like a cicada and then it emerges in pure mating mode, using up all the food it conserved as its flower finally blooms. I know most of my examples are now elaborations on something that's kind of almost already begun happening somewhere but you get the idea. Furthermore you never know if all life as we know it will die out one day while there's still a couple billion years left of the planet's physical existence. Then a whole new line of life could evolve that we can't conceive of at all, from the ground up. Like crystalline mineral trees that start talking to each other with laser light. Or maybe only bacteria are left but for some reason bacteria develop what they need to start sticking together and building a new kind of multicellular organism. What the heck would an equivalent to "animals" look like if the ancestor was a bacterium????? Holy fuck I'm mad I won't see it. Fuming and seething actually. This is the worst thing ever. Why am I doomed to die on regular animal planet with google bots and disney remakes. I wanna see salmonella animal planet. It's not fair.

anyways here's an over analysis of the guns of love bullet.
Starting with the GOAT, Koharu.
Despite it being the main character Koharu's weapon was the hardest to pin down. This is solely because there's like 50 models of Glock pistols. And this is very clearly a Glock, but which Glock? Its clearly not a subcompact, leaving the full-sized and compact models. Based on the placement of the slot in the lower frame, just below the front sight, we can discount the full-sized pistols, leaving only the compact. From there we can use the number of pins in the lower receiver, shape of the slide and the placement of the slots on the slide to narrow it down to the Glock 23 and 19, generation 3.
Its a little hard to pin down the exact make since a lot of the Glock series look almost identical. The drawings (esp early on) aren't always consistent, which is understandable given the level of detail. The 23 is a slightly more accurate match, however the detail is small, simply the shape of the front and rear sights. The Glock 23 is a compact pistol chambered in .40 S&W, the pistol is almost identical with the Glock 19 save for the aforementioned difference in the shape of the sights. The Glock 19 is likewise a compact pistol but it is chambered in 9x19mm. The Glock 19 is much more popular and widely issued and is chambered in the world's most common pistol cartridge. It is for these reasons it would make more sense for it to be a Glock 19, however the visuals lean towards the more uncommon Glock 23. Glocks, and especially the Glock 19 is kind of a "default gun", widely issued by police and military forces and popular in the civilian market it lacks an identity in its ubiquity. Therefore I think its very fitting for Koharu who is a recently born cupid and hasn't had the opportunity to carve her own identity as a cupid.
Next, we have this image from Chapter 7. She hasn't used this rifle yet, so its probably not canon but whatever. This one is pretty easy, this is a M24 Sniper Weapon System. The M24 is derived from the popular Remington Model 700 rifle by the US Army. Its identifiable by its adjustable butt stock and bipod. Somewhat interestingly its fitted here with a suppressor, which would suggest a later variant, however the pictured rifle has an original model stock.
Now, Kanna.
This was one of the easiest, this is a Milkor M32A1 Multiple Grenade Launcher. It differs externally from the earlier M32 by its shortened barrel. The M32A1 fires 40x46mm grenades from a six-round revolving cylinder. The M32A1 can fire a wealth of specialized ammunition types, however we've only seen what I believe to be high explosive so far. Somewhat notably the reflex sight that the M32A1 comes standard with is deleted. Perhaps this explains her lack of accuracy. In addition to launched grenades Kanna uses hand grenades.
Helpfully one of these comes with a label! This is clearly based on the M67 hand grenade, the other is a M84 stun grenade. Both are American models.
Lastly in the chapter 8 cover we see her with some make of landmine. There's a lot of these and they aren't that well documented from what I could find. Its mildly reminiscent of a soviet TM-62, however the vertical ribs along the rim suggest some manner of Italian made model. Whatever it is, based on its size its probably an anti-tank landmine.
Kanna has an obvious bias toward explosives, at first this clashes with her somewhat reserved personality. However there are some angles where it makes sense. Explosives tend to get the job quickly, which favors her laziness. There is also the notable component that all of these weapons possess the capability to fight an opponent without direct confrontation.
Ena.
Ena is... Kind of boring, weapon wise. This is a M4A1, one of the many, many makes and models of the M4/AR15/M16 family. Together these represent the 2nd most produced rifle in the world, just below the omnipresent AK family. The AR15 is known for its modularity and massive potential for personalization. The rifle, or carbine more accurately, is chambered in 5.56x45mm. This intermediate rifle cartridge is standard across NATO nations. If you have a keen eye "556" is a number that comes up as an easter egg throughout love bullet. Ena's M4 is fitted with a KAC vertical foregrip and ACOG TA31 assault scope. This set of attachments play towards the M4's strengths, allowing it to reach out to its maximum effective range with the scope while preserving its CCQ capabilities. In short, its versatile and utilitarian, and while we haven't gotten to know Ena that well, this seems to pair well with her personality. And for why I said it was kind of boring, these are not unique accessories by any means, in fact there are probably hundreds of photos of US soldiers with this exact set up.
Last and certainly not least is Chiyo!
This one was difficult, but I'm pretty certain this is a MAC M10, as opposed to the smaller M11. Both are nearly identical with only size and a few minor details being different. The M10 comes in two variants, one chambered in .45 caliber and the other chambered in 9mm. Chiyo's weapons posses features of both the .45 and 9mm models, so who's to say. Next to Kanna, Chiyo might have the most unique loadout. The M10, more commonly known as the "MAC-10" is a very popular weapon in action movies and video games. Because its possible to be held with one hand and its high rate of fire the weapon comes off as very cool. Its interesting to note in reality the M10 was made to be fitted with a large suppressor and nylon foregrips as a kind of commando weapon. Chiyo fits none of these and with her dual wielding style is clearly playing into the movie hero image.
Chapter 9 gives us this striking image. She's kitted out with a M60A1 and an RPG-7. The M60 is a General Purpose Machinegun chambered in 7.62x51mm, NATO's full sized rifle cartridge. It became famous and almost indictive of, the Vietnam war and also in movies like Rambo. The RPG is the first non-us weapon we see the girls use. Likewise it also made its debut in the Vietnam war, although the RPG's iconic image extends well beyond that conflict. Because of the heart shapeification of the weapons its hard to say what rocket its using, but its likely PG-7 or PG-7M. Both of these weapons play well into Chiyo's action hero trappings while also giving a mercenary impression.
As a whole, she breaks from the others as the M10's are not standard issue with the US military. I think that fits with her independent attitude. Which brings up an interesting throughline, outside of Chiyo all the other girls field weapons that are standard in the US military or police forces. There also appears to be a trend towards weapons that were popular in the Gulf and Afghanistan wars. Whether this trend reflects only Inee's personal preferences or something deeper is currently mysterious, but may remain something to watch as chapters come out.
Thanks for reading this far.

Sensor-Halo
Still working on some modular options for my next Mecha Miniature Set. Made with Lancer RPG in mind, with lots of magnetizeable weapon options, so you can customize your mini for every mission.
This ones taking me a bit longer than expected, but I find the additional Detail I was able to add this time is worth it.
Also Sensor-Halo. Love that concept.

Do you have any recommendations for ttrpgs that can be played with 4 people and have simple(ish) rules? If you need a genre generic fantasy is good. Basically I'm trying to get my friends to branch out from dnd 5e, there's 7 in the group but on nights when not all of them can play I want to introduce a replacement game. Sorry this is vague, but I'm willing to try a variety
THEME: Branching Out From 5e.
Hello! Introducing players to the wide, wide world of indie ttrpgs is always a noble cause.
I know in my personal experience, finding games that fit the niche of some other pieces of media that speak to your friends is a great strategy; my friends have really taken to Pokemon, various horror games, and Final Fantasy to great success. It's also great if you can hype up elements of the game you're suggesting that players might not typically be able to do in a 5e game.
To aid you on your quest, I have the following selection to peruse! Most of the games I mention here are games I've mentioned before, but I'm trying to recommend categories of games more-so than specific ones, so read closely!
1400 Mage, by Unknown Dungeon.
1400 Mage is lo-fi hi-fantasy. Mages wield their arcane talents to push the bounds of adventure, exploring lost sky-keeps, slaying ancient titans, and saving kingdoms from aberrant armies. Whatever the source of their gift, mages fight an internal war to control the magic in their dominion, lest it take control of them.
1400 Mage is a stand-alone high-magic table-top RPG. The rules are short and easy to learn and the whole game can fit on a single sheet of paper. It can be played using just the rules provided, or combined with other entries in the 1400 series (1400 Quest, 1400 Below, 1400 Sneak, and 1400 Planes**) to expand the world and provide more character and game options.
24XX games are modular and quick, and easy to write, which means there's oodles and oodles of games out there that use the exact same system. Almost all of them use a bunch of different-sized die, which is perfect for the dice goblins at your table. These (typically) 2-page games include roll tables that give the GM plenty of inspiration that can generate a quest as you play, which means if you don't have time to prep - never fear! You'll still be able to come up with obstacles on-the-go. All of the 24XX games I've played can be as short as 2 hours, so they're also good if you don't have as much time to play as you normally do.
For games using the same system in different settings, consider 24XX Predators, 18XX Locker, and 24XX GOLIATH.
Vikings Vs Vampires, by Cartwright Shop.
Vikings Vs. Vampires is a rules-light role-playing game suitable for all ages created by Ben Cartwright and Jon Merrell. A big inspiration for Vikings Vs. Vampires was the wonderful game Honey Heist created by Grant Howitt.
Honey Heist games are very simple, with an easy-to understand premise and very few rules, and this game is no exception. It's a great option for lighthearted games with silly roll-tables - I've even had a friend use a series of roll-tables to create Honey Heist games on the fly! Characters are made up of two or three choices, and you have two stats that increase and decrease in tandem, which makes your character dynamic throughout the course of the game.
If you like the simplicity of Honey Heist games, but want a different genre, consider But I Handled It Like A Champion, The Great Soul Train Robbery, or Cryptid TV.
Stewpot: Tales From A Fantasy Tavern, by Takuma Okada & Evil Hat.
The adventurer’s life is tough. It’s time to call it quits. For years you stumbled through hostile lands, living off stale rations, and struggling to get a few hours’ sleep. Now it’s time to hang up your weapons, sell off your armor, and settle down. If only it were that easy…
Stewpot: Tales from a Fantasy Tavern by Takuma Okada is a collection of cozy mini-games that tell the story of a tavern run by former adventurers. Gather your dice, pick up a deck of cards, set aside a shiny coin, and get ready for a new set of challenges. Only this time… your adventures start behind the bar.
Stewpot allows players to pick up characters they may have played before, in a familiar setting but a different end goal: serving good food to weary travelers. The game takes place over a series of mini-games, which the entire group works together to navigate. Since it's GM-less, it gives your group a taste of collaborative story-building, and might possibly gives someone a bug for running games themselves. I definitely encourage you to check out various GM-less games, as they typically take a lot of pre-game stress away from the person hosting or facilitating the game.
If you like the laid back feel and pacing of Stewpot, but want some other options, consider A Complicated Profession, i'm sorry did you say street magic, or Intemperate Shadows.
Liminal Horror, by Goblin Archives.
There’s a strange comfort to ambiguity. To stand at the threshold between states of what was and what’s next, to inhabit the places of transition. But you’re never truly alone here. There are things that hunger within the dark places. Strange creatures and mysteries lie in wait and tumbling into the wrong place at the wrong time may put you on the path towards doom.
Grab your flashlights and blood splattered jackets as you try to make it through the night. Beware, snapping bone and rending flesh are often the simplest outcome. While there may be great power within these places… not all mysteries can be solved and not everyone can be saved. Above all, there are fates far worse than death.
Will you escape with your life? And what kind of person will you become in your quest to survive? There’s only one way to find out…
Liminal Horror sits comfortably in the OSR family, which prioritizes quick & easy character creation, and rules that get out of the way to let the locations and problems of the story shine. These kinds of games work best with pre-written modules, which both take the burden of planning off of the GMs shoulders a little bit, and helps you pace the game. Additionally, since Liminal Horror is meant to be somewhat lethal, you can kill off PCs and roll up new ones fairly quickly - exceptionally well-suited for one-shots.
Similar games within the OSR space but change up the setting include Mausritter, Mothership and Cairn.
Secret Science Sewer Siblings, by Cloven Pine Games.
You and your siblings are sewer animals mutated into bipedal beings with bodies and minds similar to human adolescents. You've also been trained in ancient martial arts. Go rescue your mentor and learn to share pizza with your siblings!
A simple tabletop RPG in the vein of Lasers & Feelings. Perfect for on-boarding interested newcomers into the world of roleplaying games.
Designed on the Lasers & Feelings ruleset, SSSS is extremely simple to play and on-the-nose-goofy, perfect for a lighthearted game night. It encourages as many jokes as you can think of, and cartoony hi-jinx, which creates an easy buy-in because players can always get silly with it if they're not sure what to do next. At the same time, it's inspired by a well-known cartoon franchise, so if your players understand what Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is about, they'll have plenty of references to pull on when deciding what should happen next.
Similar games that use the same rule-set but change up the genre include Vampire Cowboys, Monsters & Counselors, and the granddaddy of them all, Lasers & Feelings.
Escape From Dino Island, by Sam Roberts.
Escape from Dino Island is a thrilling adventure game of intrepid heroes trapped on an island overrun with creatures from a lost age—dinosaurs!
Players take on the role of brave, competent, but fundamentally normal people in way over their heads. The game helps you create action-packed stories that are full of suspense, but in which fighting is rarely a good option.
Pre-generated characters make it easy to jump into play, and Dino Island comes with characters almost instantly ready for you to start playing. Since it's designed for a one-shot, it's a low-commitment game that doesn't require the players to sign up for more than 2 sessions, and it doubles as an introduction to Powered by the Apocalypse games, which is a total shift from the game experience you find in D&D. If your table enjoys moments where their characters get into arguments, or if they are equally interested in failure as they are in success, then you'll get a lot out of this game.
Similar games that may differ in genre but provide the same easy experience include Visigoths vs. Mall Goths, Back Again From the Broken Land, and Sunset Kills.
For Your Reading Pleasure…
Some of the games here are better off as campaigns, rather than one-shots, so I'd recommend them if your group starts showing an interest in longer games.
Fabula Ultima, by NEED Games, for the anime fan in your life.
Dragonbane, by Free League Publishing, for folks who want Daffy Duck to be a playable character in their fantasy world.
Lancer, by Massif Press, for the hardcore mech lover and war-gamer in your group.
The Wildssea, by Felix Isaacs, if what your crew craves is something novel, fresh, and inspiring.
MASKS: A New Generation, by Magpie Games, and Monster of the Week, by Micheal Sands, for folks who love emotions, character arcs, and plenty of extra content.
Easy To Teach Recommendation Post
First-Time GMs Recommendation Post
(also honestly you should probably check out Cloven Pine Games in general, as I've accidentally recommended three of their games in this post alone.)
If you like what I do and want to leave a tip, you can check out my Ko-Fi!

Battletech dumb pirate weapon idea: "Jury Rigged Fusion 'Cannon' "
You know that extremely well-controlled fusion reactor in your 'mech?
yeah what if in a drunken fugue, a pirate siphoned a little bit of the *extremely violent fusion reaction* through most of the parts of a PPC that handle stabilizing the projectile, to produce possibly the least safe weapon they could that violates as many treaties and as much common sense as possible
...this would probably be a "built into the 'mech frame" type of deal, impossible to transfer to a different 'mech since it's not...modular at all?
#battletech#mechwarrior#bad weapon modifications#knowing about nuclear fusion physics and electromagnetics is fun#tiny ball of very angry gas that wants to not be a tiny ball would be a very strong contender for Dumb Way To Die award winner#but as long as your scifi setting has semi-stable magnetic containment of projectiles#you now have tiny localized fusion explosives that can't be shot down
