Okay I'm so sleep deprived so pardon whatever this is but something that's got me FUCKED up about ai generated pictures songs writing is that it just fucking kills the ability to analyse for me because there's no fucking INTENTION behind it. Like why was this decision made why were these colours used what does that say about the work NOTHING because a bunch of programming took work that DID have intent and theme and purposeful choices and turned it into SLOP. Like I COULD analyse this but it doesn't MEAN anything it's EMPTY I want to EXPLODEEE

Just been asked if I use generative AI, which—bless this anon—is perhaps the most unintentionally insulting remark I’ve had in a while.

No, I don’t. I spend far too many hours on my art to let a machine take the credit. Every line, every layer, every detail is done by hand in Clip Studio Paint—messy sketches and all. I can even show you the mess behind the curtain if you’d like.

Regarding the “progressing fast” remark—not quite. I’ve simply only just begun sharing more of my work. This is the result of 15+ years of steady, stubborn practice, not some overnight miracle. Rome wasn’t built by AI, and neither was my portfolio.

If you need a bit of proof, I can happily whip out program layers and even a pointillism portrait done entirely by hand. I’ll even sign ‘Noxx’ just for the occasion.

But truly…thank you for thinking my work looked too good to be human. I’ll take that as flattery, even if it stung a little…

Though, I do hope next time, you think before you speak... 🗣️

I LOVE IMPRESSIONISM AND PLEIN AIRE!! ❤️

Just something about it scratches an itch for me just right. Like taking off low prescription glasses, probably cause I used to not have glasses. But the quick and dirty of it. I want to see the world from the corner of your eye. Don't slave over realistic detail. It's more subconscious, gimme the details found most important. Genuinely for feeling and interest comes from impressionism, and extension plein aire.

This is why Monet is my favorite :) and Van Gogh is very nice of course.

Also, I find these kinds of paintings tell that beauty is everywhere and art is only the purposeful capture of that. Wether, idea or physical space or whatever. Beauty is feeling, and art is the attempt to capture that. Feelings are fleeting too, that's why impressionism is so profound I think. One step in another's shoes. I think it's the same want or love for sharing stories around a fire. Steps in other's shoes. Looking through other's eyes at what they thought was beautiful or needed captured.

What if this societal AI art nightmare actually ushers forward a new wave of impressionism?

Think about it. One of the reasons impressionism was such a thing at the turn of the 20th century was because artists were tired of the neoclassical hyper-realistic painting style that had become normy and elitist and wanted to verge into the realm of expression.

Now I wonder if we'll start to see more REAL painters (not "ai" artists) embracing styles and methods that are difficult for ai to replicate. Think large scale murals or niche non popularized painting styles. We could see a surge in people returning to art galleries where they know the art they're looking at was done by a person.

We the people aren't going to be able to "stop" the progression of AI, but we can turn our backs on it. We can reject it as an artform and lift up each other. Let the corporate overlords have their ai generated logos. Let rich techies waste their money on stolen art. We don't need them.

Embrace traditional media. Print your digital art, use Nightshade when uploading photos. GO to art galleries. Support mural artists and sculptures.

As an artist I've been lost in the fear and doom and gloom the concept of ai art has been holding over me. But the thing is, real art has always been about human expression. It's in our DNA. It will prevail. It always has and always will .

I share my writing out of joy and passion for stories and characters, hoping that it may spark joy and passion in others too or make their days a little brighter, not for some third party to steal my work and feed it into their shitty AI to make money by using other people's work without their consent.

I will also take this opportunity to remind you that if you put my writing into an AI to, idk, train a chat bot or get more "content", you are also feeding the AI with my work against my explicit wishes and consent. "It's just for me" or "it's only for private use" makes no difference here. It doesn't matter how the AI gets access to the work of others, it matters that it does when it shouldn't.

Let's not pretend that the people behind AI won't use the data you give it while using it privately as well; it's basically more free training data for them. These people were willing to steal once, they won't shy away from taking whatever else they can get.

I hope that I will soon feel comfortable unlocking my fics again because, again, that's how I prefer it.
