Constructing the moodcube. The idea was it to create a practical, efficient and elegant way of presenting the collection.

For my moodcube I tried to create the same atmosphere as in my moodboard but then a little bit more detailed.
I used one side to create a sunrise/sunset with rope. In the celler I also want to create a sunrise/sunset. I don't want this to be too much destracting from the artefacts in the space, so my idea is to use soft colors for this. In this moodcube i used soft pink, soft orange and purple. For the sun rays i used a warm white tone. Because of the low ceiling in the celler, it would be nice if I can create the feeling of a higher space. I think I can do that by creating sun rays from the ground to the ceiling, because vertical lines make things seem longer.
In this moodcube I can really show what I mean by creating the outerlines of an airplane with iron wire. In the celler I think I would like to use steal pipes for this. The little rope parts in this airplane are there to show that artefacts can be placed in this.
I used cotton pads to create the feeling of being in the clouds, also on one column. On that column I also created round plates with plastic and iron wire. In the celler I want to use glass and steal to create this. The glass can be reused from the vitrines. I think this is a nice extra way to display artefacts on. I also think it is nice that the steal from the outerline of the airplane in the space comes back in the columns.
I also used one side of my moodcube to show that I would also like to hang artefacts or explanations. In that way the space is used optimally.

In week 2 I started with making a moodboard which showed what items I wanted to use and what sort of vibe I wanted to give to the exhibition. The products that cought my eye where the 'strange' ones where you would think: what is it? What do you use it for? And why did they make that? Thats why I didn't want to use colourfull materials and I want to integrate mirrors. With mirrors you can look at things form another perspective and also create optical illusions. Thats also what you can see in the moodcube. In the middle is an hanging artpiece that shows a different form from other angles. This again stands for looking at things from an other perspective.

Mood cube; 1st version
The outside of the box is the typical box you keep in your attic or basement filled with photographs, casettes and objects of the past. The inside of the mood cube shows filmrolls spilling out of a treasure box, referring to the concept that our memories are treasures. The paper pieces show a form of communication with text and the buttons represent vinyls.

Working on the moodcube - 12/09/2024
Creating spaces is one of the most important starting points of the design. In order to be able to process this in the moodcube, thought was given to getting a space in the large existing space. That large existing space has also a regular grid through the columns. By creating the blue box, which deviates from the grid, a completely new spaces emerge. In the second image you can also see how rhino was used to find the right dimensions for this blue box.

Sketches for my moodcube
At the top, a sketch of a workplace. At the bottom, a sketch of an exhibition space with the installations under the roof. In addition, there are several canvasses or curtains that act as a room divider. And on the floor are multiple displays placed. Lastly, there is lighting in the floor, which guides visitors through the exhibition.

First sketch model of my moodcube. The moodcube is a 3D version of the moodboard i have made earlier. In this sketch, you can see various elements from my moodboard, such as the transparency and color scheme.

My Moodcube
The idea of the moodcube is that there is a dynamic grid over which various objects can move. Both the grid and the objects are movable. By lifting the objects off the ground, it almost seems as if they are flying, which refers back to the origin of the collection. It creates an overall dynamic and airy composition

We translated our moodboards into moodcubes. The red board draws you into the cube and at the bottom of the board starts a red line. It guides you through the space while showing you objects. The red line also ends at the bottom of the red board and guides you back outside. The red board how important the entrance is to a space and that in this case it needs to be upgraded.

[13/09/2024] Moodcube
The moodcube is a 3D version of the moodboard. Again, wood and glass have been used as materials. An attempt has been made to create an interesting wall that is partly open and partly closed. This creates intriguing perspectives within the design. The elements are positioned at an angle on the plane. In the final design, it is intended that there will also be many angled elements present.

Moodcube with the different materials reused in different ways:
wooden panels as display tables for interactive objects
glass doors as transparent walls to attach graphical metal pieces with magnets
metal frames as hanging lighting frames for heavy and big objects
