It was pointed out to me on discord that Khonshu choosing Marc as his avatar very much came across as Khonshu specifically targeting Marc so he could use his DID as something he could leverage to abuse him.

And yeah the way Khonshu speaks to Marc is very much abuser language. How he tells him he's ungrateful, that he would be dead without him, uses Marc's fears of him making Layla his avatar as means to control him when he never intended to make Layla his avatar.

Especially this line in the end credit scene "Marc Spector believes I intended to make his wife my avatar after we parted ways, but why would I ever choose anyone else when he has no idea how troubled he truly is."
