15 year old Sirius, James, and Peter becoming animagus and spending their first full moon with Remus.

Remus being terrified he’s going to hurt one of them and pleading with them to be careful. He is a blood thirsty beast, an abhorrent monster, and they need to be prepared for the worst. Prepared to see the worst of him, and prepared to defend themselves if necessary.

Sirius, James, and Peter bracing themselves to come face to face with the monster from their bedtime stories, the creature from their textbooks, the abomination their society hates, and the bully their best friend fears above all else.

But then Remus transforms. The monster is young with lanky limbs, floppy ears, paws too big it trips over them, and wide puppy dog eyes. The creature is scared of them, nervous of something it’s never seen before and the danger they might present, shrinking in on itself, ears flattened, crying softly. The abomination is curious and once it decides they’re more interesting than they are dangerous, bounds over yipping and jumping, rolling onto its back and wriggling in uncontrollable excitement to play. The bully is so careful not to hurt its new friends, apologising with whimpers and nuzzles when it plays a bit too roughly with the hound, it doubles back to when the rat struggles to keep up and lets him ride on its back being careful not to throw him, and at the end of the night it curls up around the stag with grooms and nuzzles and deep sense of contentment. The wolf is overjoyed, it doesn’t have to be alone anymore.

And when Remus wakes up the next morning and asks if he was scary, Sirius, James, and Peter can only laugh.

After the full moon landed on the 23th, all of them stayed with Remus on Christmas Eve and they spent that night all cuddled up while Remus read to them.

love that hc where james doesn’t really like being called “jamie” but goes absolute stupid when regulus calls him that. i mean, in general, he’s all so grumpy and frustrated that no one bothers to just add a fucking s to “james”, but whenever reg says it so casually like “thank you for the tea, jamie” or “no, i’m not busy, jamie” or “that’s alright, jamie” his mind just goes lalala i’m so in love hihi

I genuinely think Sirius forgets that werewolves are dangerous. Like he cannot fathom that Moony would want to hurt someone and whenever Remus gets anxious about attacking someone during the full moon Sirius gets defensive because his Moony wouldn’t hurt anyone. How could he, Moony’s just a big ol puppy with too big paws he’s always tripping over and the softest fur and he gets so excited when he’s let outside its adorable. And he’s Padfoots best friend, he makes Padfoot feel so safe, and they have the best time chasing rabbits and singing to the moon and he gives the best snuggles. And sure he gets a bit grouchy and bite-y sometimes but that’s no reason to be mean to him, how would you like it if you’d spent your whole life locked in the same room? Padfoots loves his Moony.

I love their duality. They have become such complex and contradictory characters and it makes them feel real.

No because what even are the Marauders? Like the dynamics are just so absolutely wild with these four characters.

Okay so we have Remus: Literally a werewolf, stone cold sarcasm, could kill a man with one look, sharp mind and sharper tounge, like 6'4 and could 100% tower over you, in general just does not give a shit.

But we also have Remus: Soft Boi, tall and lanky, incredibly socially awkward, just wants naps and chocolate all the time, blushes furiously, way too stressed out about absolutely everything, can't go twenty minutes without complaining that he's cold.

We have Sirius: Punk Rock Badass tm, drives an illegal flying motorcycle, has the coolest animagus form to date, scary dog best friend privileges, the most Noble and Ancient House of Black reject, could kill you without hesitation if you look at his friends wrong, could tower over you even though he's shorter??, his voice is somehow even more threatening when it's quiet.

But then we have Sirius: Perpetual gay panic, will willingly fling himself off a bridge if any of the marauders told him to, terrified of Lily Evans (who's the shortest of all of them), sings along to Dancing Queen every time it plays, needs affection or he'll die, will break down crying because he cant get his eyeliner right, absolute hot mess.

We have James: Over protective, strong enough to manhandle someone easily, also incredibly tall, doesn't care what anyone thinks of him, popular jock, secret charms genius and could come up with a spell to haunt you forever, known for being a Prank God, is best friends with the House of Black reject and a literal werewolf, the untouchable quidditch captain, could probably down eight firewhiskeys and still shoot a quaffle perfectly through a hoop, his angry glare could melt fucking steel.

Then we have James: chased after the same person for seven years, crooked glasses and always messy hair, big doe eyes, literally and figuratively deer in headlights, won't stop whining about everything, takes an hour long shower because he needs to find the right playlist, refuses to eat sandwiches with the crusts on, wears mismatched socks, such a mama's boy, wears croptops for fun, likes being choked.

Well... and then there's just Peter: Not a mean bone in this kid's body, he will bring the snacks to the study group and there is nothing you can do about it, likes cheese, always down for a road trip, desperately needs validation, pins photos of all his best friends to his wall, likes cheese, can make you cry just by pouting at you, literally just a big tedy bear, needs at least three hugs a day, LIKES CHEESE.
