more seriously the gameplay is stellar; i'm really soft on, like, mmos (and games in general) that let you zone out and lose yourself in a hundred different interlocking crafting/gathering mechanics and sidequests and Things to do. world of warcraft is like crack cocaine to me because of this. eso is already ensorcelling me to the same tune
been getting into eso lately. somehow the existence of hermaeus mora completely escaped my mind despite him, conceptually, being the sickest fucking concept practically made for me. i love cthulhu and i love passive true neutral 'observer' types. give me a kiss tentacle mass
#blue moon personal post#to quote my bluesky:#'when i was like 9-10ish for my birthday i was asked to choose between getting skyrim or cataclysm for wow and i chose cata.'#'i think there is an alternate universe where i chose skyrim and im a elder scrolls geek instead of the night elf fanatic i am'#i still fucking need to play morrowind can i enlist 100 people to play morrowind multiplayer and not say a word to eachother#specifically fond of mmos for the parallel play aspect.#nice to be around other people doin' their own thing and occasionally crossing paths adventuring

gamer könig.....is he good or bad. what games would he play (i assume apex and league) and if reader is better than him would he be sad. the people need to know‼️
HE IS A LOSER, EVEN WHEN PLAYING STUFF LIKE LEAGUE He actually strikes me as a guy who got his first computer at a very early age and was the only kid in his apartment complex with one, so from his early teens he was establishing LANs with other kids to play Counter-Strike with random people and trying to get Doom to work on his microwave. He doesn't usually play shooters anymore, he has his job to scratch the itch for killing. He also doesn't like games like Apex or Valorant because of the very erratic movements that piss him off (Real war isn't like this!) and he wouldn't be afraid of telling his darling this. He only plays shooters when he is on the last days of his long leave when he really misses the battlefield. He would also get REALLY into shooters once he is retired, just to get that need to violence fulfilled without going to shooting practice. He likes to play RPGs like The Witcher, Morrowind(he thinks that Skyrim and Oblivion is a zoomer abomination, and he won't hear anyone out because he is old and grumpy) and, surprisingly, really got into Baldurs Gate recently. He doesn't really play games like League or World of WarCraft because he hates dumb teammates and is often banned from playing multiplayer games because he is very toxic in the group chat. He would reluctantly accept playing League or Valorant with his darling, just because he wants to spend time with her. You would have to kiss him after any loss and he would be really into meowing for heals. He is cringe, yes.

1. Games you're Currently Playing?
5. Games you’ve played in the past 12 months that you really enjoyed?
7. A series you’ve lost interest in?
8. A game location you really like
17. Pick a series you like. What was the first game you played for it? Was it a good starting point? Would it still be a good starting point now?
27. Realism or stylized?
42. Worst game you ever played?
56. Multi-player or single player?
57. Ask anything you wish!: Favorite Highly Devoted And Worryingly Dependent Bird Prince From A DRPG?
1. Games you're Currently Playing?
Too much to even keep track of, especially if we count games that have been on pause for months or games I played only for like an hour but want to pick up again.
5. Games you’ve played in the past 12 months that you really enjoyed?
I generally enjoy the things I play more often than not but if I had to pick out something that stands out as surpassing my expectations or being particularly enjoyable to me then I think it would be all the multiplayer stuff I have been doing with my sisters in games like Age of Empires 2.
7. A series you’ve lost interest in?
Let's just say that I don't expect Bethesda to ever make another Morrowind.
8. A game location you really like
Practically everywhere in Elden Ring. I think aesthetically a lot of the places there look amazing to me. I especially like Caelid since I'm a slut for unwelcoming and inhospitable environments.
17. Pick a series you like. What was the first game you played for it? Was it a good starting point? Would it still be a good starting point now?
I started Touhou with Imperishable Night and think that might be the best starting point for it still. You could make an argument for Embodiment of Scarlet Devil instead but that one is both jankier and more difficult. IN makes a better first impression I think.
27. Realism or stylized?
It depends on the type of game and the tone it is going for. I generally prefer stylized aesthetics in most situations, though.
42. Worst game you ever played?
The honest but boring answer is that it was probably some cash-grab mobile game or a game too technically incompetent to really work at all.
56. Multi-player or single player?
Generally single player. A lot of the things I like about CRPGs rarely ever seem to be possible in games with multiplayer options, and especially not in MMORPGs.
It's kind of a shame because a non-linear and co-op RPG I could play with just a couple of friends and with a focus on sandbox simulation and a high amount of player freedom would be my personal aphrodisiac. I have played a couple of games that sort of approach that idea but never quite to my taste.
I guess I have tabletop RPGs for that kind of thing but I would really like it if they made something like Mount & Blade, Elona, or Cataclysm:DDA with just 2-4 players all sharing the same world. Wartales is one of the games I know of that most closely resembles what I'm looking for.
57. Ask anything you wish!: Favorite Highly Devoted And Worryingly Dependent Bird Prince From A DRPG?
Look at her.

Day 2 of Repostober, and I decided to revisit a Morrowind pic of mine from almost nine years ago that I'm still mostly proud of, but thought could use a little sprucing up. This here's Ilvala Samedri, a roving bard and stealth abolitionist, and @freshva's Silk-Tongue, an enslaved "courtesan" she freed who now works as her dancer to keep from being recaptured. Both of them might be the Nerevarine, somehow.
We never did play that multiplayer game together, but maybe someday.

gog has a sale on anything you'd recommend?
my usual vn recommendations aside,
Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Pathologic 2 are good grabs! E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy is on sale on both steam and gog, so get the steam one if you want multiplayer. Kenshi is also a big recommend, but that's a real "look before you leap" kind of game
Morrowind's on sale and so is Dragon's Dogma, to throw two more rpgs onto the pile
lots of fun stuff on sale, but those are a few that came to mind

Hate that I'm being fascinated and even curious of World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore simply because when classic came out, me a nerd that has NO nostalgia for that game, given I was living my teen years playing Ragnarok Online instead, couldn't care less about it. It was a weird thing in the distance that I knew about loosely that obviously wasn't gonna be anything but nostalgia pandering (and I was correct) and not be the idealized "return to form" that WoW nerds talked about (as I said, I was correct given a few funny things of player behavior that WoW players somehow didn't expect even after 20 years of knowledge and optimization) I knew it was there but didn't have a drive to experience it because, I figured, it will be clunky and old and I have other things to do so I didn't mind it or looked at it. But hardcore changed that dynamic for me? it's a permadeath thing, your character has one life and messing up means your character is done and gone for good, an entire server knows when people die, people spamming F to whoever was the victim of either gravity or a dreadful renown monster that patrols a certain area, etc. So suddenly that makes it interesting to me, there's weight to actions and risks/reward scenarios that have drastic consequences, either you alone or a group, suddenly a hard quest that gives a good item makes it a wager, an adventure or a mistake. A lot of modern MMO design (a lot of it ironically kickstarted by Warcrafts ongoing development as a live service game) sorta lose themselves into their morphing into the standard live service game and in turn they all end up feeling like they regret having the MMO part of themselves attached and even the RPG part of it. Why make an MMO in the first place? the end product of many of these games, even FFXIV (a game which I love and where I can be a potato) is far more of a JRPG that has multiplayer attached to it than anything else.
Where am I going with this? just rambling but it's been on my mind and it makes me both want to go play Morrowind for the first time and also think about accepting a good friend's invitation to tabletop stuff. (an invitation that is by now months old but my brain is just anxious and a mess! so I declined back then srry to them!)

i will say that one of my biggest minor gripes with morrowind is how roundabout it can be to just get the goddamn spells you want or need. like, there are some enemies that can damage your attributes, right? permanently, if you don't get them healed. one of the more common ones is strength. you know one of the main things strength impacts? your maximum carryweight. and do you wanna guess what happens to your maximum carryweight if your strength gets damaged to 0?? your carryweight gets put to zero!!! your options for fixing this are either healing your goddamn strength with magic, most commonly available in a temple which is usually not where you're gonna get your strength damaged, or having a feather spell that covers the entirety of your maximum carryweight (you probably won't unless you're a weak little mage with more magicka than muscles, and even then scrolls and potions are still pretty heavy i you've not a lot of strength to your name). OR, even assuming you do have a feather or fortify strength spell, but it's the normal kind that a mortal can cast without ascending to godhood with exploits, you're probably gonna get like. 50, maybe 100 points max of your carryweight back. which is like, enough to have one or two normal weapons, your clothes or even your armor if you've got light armor and not anything more protective, and that's like the best possible scenario. otherwise you've gotta ditch enough gear just to get your ass to a temple, and then go through the goddamn ordeal of finding your way back to where you had to ditch your shit, which knowing where the kinds of enemies that damage your strength live is probably pretty fucking out of the way. meanwhile i've found like, one spell seller that has restore attribute spells. she at least has one for every attribute, which is nice. but God, i get why Every Mage Ever wouldn't know Every Spell Ever, but i feel like there are some that are too vital to be obscure little shits hiding in a corner somewhere, y'know. especially given how some of the spells you can start with are like, way too fucking good relative to them being a starter spell. like, i like heartheal as a spell that maintains its relevance well into the mid game that you have at level 1, i don't mind a lack of balance in singleplayer games, i just wish the lack of balance was goddamn consistent y'know. the game simultaneously is very easy to break in some ways and far too punishing in others, both in ways that frequently seem to be both intentional and unintentional depending on the context. it just feels kinda bullshit-y when i can enchant an amulet to fire off an extremely powerful fireball with a fuckton more charge and less charge usage than if i made the same spell normally, but with the same amulet and soul gem i can't make constant effects worth a damn for 99% of circumstances. i feel like if you're gonna have a broken and unbalanced game where even light prodding can make you unbelievably overpowered, you should give me the ability to be unbelievably overpowered consistently y'know. it's a singleplayer RPG, game balance only matters insofar as how fun the game makes it for one person. that shit only really matters if you're trying to make a competitively viable multiplayer pvp game, ya feel me

not an unarmed mod but I briefly played a morrowind multiplayer mod with a friend where our aim was to just be drugged out orcs, during which we spent the first 3 hours punching each other to build our unarmed skill and then immediately crashed the game when we actually tried to leave seyda neen
that sounds fun
i wonder where that project's at ...
